Within minutes after listing, the shares of mortgage financier Home First Finance Company gained nearly 3% of their value and were trading at ₹631 apiece at 10:05 am in a robust market. Warburg Pincus-backed Home First Finance Company IPO lists at 19% premium over the issue price

The stock went up 5.73 per cent to Rs 2,121.30 on the BSE. On the NSE, it climbed 6.32 per cent to Rs 2,123. TVS Motor Company on Wednesday said its net profit increased 15 per cent to Rs 387 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2024, riding on robust sales. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 336 crore in the January-March period of the previous fiscal. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 10,042 crore in the period under review compared with Rs 8,031 crore in the fourth quarter of FY23. In the fourth quarter, the company said its overall <keyword id="19948209" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler" source="keywords">two-wheeler</keyword> and three-wheeler sales, including exports, grew by 22 per cent to 10.63 lakh units compared to 8.68 lakh units in the same period of the 2022-23 fiscal. For the year ended on March 31, 2024, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,686 crore as against Rs 1,329 crore a year ago. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 39,145 crore in FY24 over Rs 31,974 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.48 against the greenback, registering a rise of 4 paise from its previous close. On Monday, the rupee settled 7 paise lower at 83.52 against the US dollar. "India's enduringly strong economic fundamentals, coupled with its substantial foreign exchange reserves acting as a safety net, equip the Reserve Bank of India to effectively mitigate any downward pressure on the rupee," CR Forex Advisors MD Amit Pabari said. Moreover, substantial foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows are anticipated. The Adani Group is eyeing a USD 600 million raise via offshore loans, while Belstar Microfinance plans to raise USD 150 million through an IPO. "Considering these factors, the downside of the rupee is capped at 83.60. While it is expected to appreciate around 83 to 83.20 in the near-term, with medium-term appreciation ranging between 82.80 to 82.50 levels," Pabari said. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading at 105.18, higher by 0.13 per cent. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.29 per cent to USD 83.57 per barrel. On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 19.43 points or 0.03 per cent to 73,914.97 in early trade. The NSE Nifty advanced 19.90 points or 0.09 per cent to 22,462.60 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Monday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 2,168.75 crore, according to exchange data. Rupee rises 4 paise to 83.48 against US dollar in early trade

Faced with <keyword id="21571465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cabin-crew-shortage" source="keywords">cabin crew shortage</keyword>, <keyword id="19923231" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-India-Express" source="keywords">Air India Express</keyword> on Thursday cancelled 74 <keyword id="19980901" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="flights" source="keywords">flights</keyword> and said <keyword id="19896871" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Air India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Air India">Air India</keyword> will operate services on 20 of its routes to minimise disruptions. A section of cabin crew has reported sick to protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline, which has resulted in the cancellation of more than 90 flights since Tuesday night. "We will be operating 292 flights today. We have mobilised all resources and Air India will support us by operating on 20 of our routes. However, 74 of our flights stand cancelled and we urge our guests booked to fly with us to check if their flight is affected by the disruption before heading to the airport," the airline said in a statement. In case their flight is cancelled or delayed beyond three hours, the carrier said the passengers may opt for a full refund or reschedule to a later date without any fees. The number of <keyword id="632671" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cancelled-flights" source="Orion">cancelled flights</keyword> at 74 translates to around 20 per cent of the airline's scheduled daily flights. Earlier in the day, sources said the airline has issued termination notices to 25 cabin crew members who had reported sick and asked others to join back for duty by 4 pm on Thursday. Against this backdrop, Air India Express said it is taking appropriate steps against certain individuals. "While we will continue to engage with our cabin crew colleagues with a commitment to address any concern, we are taking appropriate steps against certain individuals as their actions have caused grave inconvenience to thousands of our guests," it added. Air India Express cancels 74 flights due to cabin crew shortage, to operate 292 flights

The <keyword id="19949639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="keywords">rupee</keyword> appreciated 8 paise to 83.44 against the <keyword id="19899478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US" source="keywords">US</keyword> <keyword id="19904292" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar" source="keywords">dollar</keyword> in early trade on Thursday, as the American currency retreated from its elevated levels. <keyword id="20024982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="forex-traders" source="keywords">Forex traders</keyword> said a negative trend in domestic equities and <keyword id="20520117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-fund-outflows" source="keywords">foreign fund outflows</keyword> weighed on the local unit and restricted the up move. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.49 against the greenback. It later touched 83.44 in initial trade, registering a rise of 8 paise from its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee stayed range-bound and settled 1 paisa lower at 83.52 against the US dollar. "Indian rupee was sold against the dollar as FPIs continued to sell stocks worth over Rs 6,000 crore on Wednesday and bought dollars keeping US dollar higher," said Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury and Executive Director Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP. Dollar buying could reemerge despite US dollar selling by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to protect the rupee, Bhansali added. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading at 105.51, lower by 0.03 per cent. "The US FED speakers warned that interest rates could remain higher for longer. More speakers would give their rhetoric on Thursday and Friday. The dollar index was stable at 105.54 while the US 10-year bond yield rose from 4.46 per cent to 4.50 per cent," Bhansali said. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.43 per cent to USD 83.94 per barrel. On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 176.2 points or 0.24 per cent to 73,290.19 in early trade. The NSE Nifty fell 49.75 points or 0.22 per cent to 22,252.75 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Wednesday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 6,669.10 crore, according to exchange data. Rupee rises 8 paise to 83.44 against US dollar in early trade

According to sources within the airline, the management on Wednesday terminated cabin crew members who took <keyword id="20299395" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sick-leave" source="keywords">sick leave</keyword> between Tuesday and Wednesday due to their unprofessional behaviour, which resulted in inconvenience to thousands of passengers. The <keyword id="21571427" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mass-sick-leave" source="keywords">mass sick leave</keyword> was considered a pre-meditated and concerted abstention from work without any justifiable reason, violating Air India Express Limited employee service rules. The decision to terminate the employees was made as their actions violated the conditions outlined in their employment contracts, leading to their immediate termination. The disruption caused by the mass sick leave affected more than 95 flights of Air India Express between Tuesday evening and Wednesday, impacting over 10,000 passengers. The disruption in flight operations stemmed from the delay and cancellation of over 90 international and domestic flights due to cabin crew members reporting sick. In response to this, Air India Express CEO, Aloke Singh, announced plans to reduce flight operations in the coming days. Singh said that since Tuesday evening, "over 100 of cabin crew colleagues have reported sick prior to their rostered flight duty, at the last minute, severely disrupting our operations. Because this action was mostly by colleagues assigned L1 role, the impact was disproportionate, disrupting 90+ flights even though other colleagues reported for duty." He emphasised that the behaviour of a few does not represent the dedication of the majority of the airline's cabin crew, who continue to serve guests with dedication and pride. "This act is certainly not representative of the 2,000-odd cabin crew colleagues in the company who continue to respond to the call of duty and serve our guests with dedication and pride. I am thankful to all who are standing by the airline in this hour of crisis," he said in a statement. Singh invited staff for discussions to address any concerns they may have and assured that all communication channels are open. The cancellations and delays prompted the Ministry of Civil Aviation to seek a detailed report from Air India Express. The ministry urged the airline to promptly resolve the issues and ensure that passengers are provided with facilities as per DGCA norms. Sources within the ministry revealed that cancellations and delays began on Tuesday night, continuing into Wednesday morning, which led to flight operations being curtailed due to a sudden shortage of crew members. Some senior crew members allegedly switched off their mobile phones just before flight operations, citing health issues.
