Both the firms will pick up minority stakes in Indegene, through a primary as well as secondary transaction by buying out existing investors. Indegene is a 23-year old is a healthtech solutions provider with interests across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology solutions, and medical devices. The company has over 3,000 employees in offices across India, North America, Europe, China and Japan. With the latest investment, the company now aims to expand its global presence and M&amp;A activities. “Carlyle’s commitment to the <keyword id="6354525" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="healthcare">healthcare</keyword> sector with their global network and deep pharmaceutical expertise, coupled with Brighton Park’s deep experience in the technology sector and nuanced understanding of our space, makes the two firms the ideal partners to support our company’s continued growth,” said Manish Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Indegene. The company also claims that its revenues grew at around 25% every year for the last ten years. Meanwhile, Carlyle has been ramping up its India presence especially in the health sector. The firm invested in Piramal Pharma; a pure-play animal healthcare company SeQuent; Delhi Medanta Medicity Hospital, and diagnostic center and laboratory operator Metropolis Healthcare. It has also invested in startup unicorns like Delhivery. One of Carlyle’s senior advisors is Aditya Puri, the former HDFC Bank CEO, who has recently joined the PE firm.

Indian Pharmaceutical companies are now getting rid of the old school <keyword id="6354839" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="marketing">marketing</keyword> techniques and are opting for the new technologies. This new technology comprises of scientific detailing to <keyword id="25205" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="doctors">doctors</keyword>, newer algorithms for better insight into issues etc. 
 Through <keyword id="618493" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-marketing">digital marketing</keyword>, there is an estimated rise of about 50% in the pharma industry’s marketing in the next two years and as per the report by Bengaluru-based market research firm <keyword id="1979075" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="INDEGENE">Indegene</keyword>, the mark might touch Rs 220 crore. 
 
According to the report, mobile app and social media will be playing a crucial role in this growth. 
 
This is going to be really helpful for India in catching up with the emerging tech savvy like China. “This will help India catch up with tech-savvy emerging markets peers like China, where nearly half the companies are expected to allocate more than a fifth of their marketing budget to digital marketing by 2018,” Gaurav Kapoor, executive vice president of Indegene told ET. 
 
Indian pharma companies have already started switching to the new age digital marketing. Sun Pharma launched a mobile app called RespiTrack earlier this year for patient awareness on asthma and to ensure their adherence to treatment regimen. 
 Others like <keyword id="697420" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Abbott-Healthcare">Abbott Healthcare</keyword> see India as a ground for introducing tech innovations that can be replicated worldwide. It introduced several tools like Knowledge Genie, a heart and liver app and another one for vertigo exercises. Some of these build on augmented and virtual reality to engage with both doctors and patients. 
 
"From an earlier product-specific detailing, the focus has now moved to scientific detailing. This digitization is also helping companies to gear up for the introduction of the proposed uniform code of pharmaceutical marketing practices,” an Abbott spokesperson told ET. 
 
While, the pharma sector is all set for digitization, Indegine survey adds that the pharma companies, at present are facing a huge problem in implementing multi-channel marketing campaigns in India.

The stock went up 5.73 per cent to Rs 2,121.30 on the BSE. On the NSE, it climbed 6.32 per cent to Rs 2,123. TVS Motor Company on Wednesday said its net profit increased 15 per cent to Rs 387 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2024, riding on robust sales. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 336 crore in the January-March period of the previous fiscal. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 10,042 crore in the period under review compared with Rs 8,031 crore in the fourth quarter of FY23. In the fourth quarter, the company said its overall <keyword id="19948209" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler" source="keywords">two-wheeler</keyword> and three-wheeler sales, including exports, grew by 22 per cent to 10.63 lakh units compared to 8.68 lakh units in the same period of the 2022-23 fiscal. For the year ended on March 31, 2024, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,686 crore as against Rs 1,329 crore a year ago. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 39,145 crore in FY24 over Rs 31,974 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal. TVS Motor shares climb over 6% after March quarter earnings

A section of cabin crew has reported sick to protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline, which has resulted in the cancellation of more than 90 flights since Tuesday night. "We will be operating 292 flights today. We have mobilised all resources and Air India will support us by operating on 20 of our routes. However, 74 of our flights stand cancelled and we urge our guests booked to fly with us to check if their flight is affected by the disruption before heading to the airport," the airline said in a statement. In case their flight is cancelled or delayed beyond three hours, the carrier said the passengers may opt for a full refund or reschedule to a later date without any fees. The number of <keyword id="632671" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cancelled-flights" source="Orion">cancelled flights</keyword> at 74 translates to around 20 per cent of the airline's scheduled daily flights. Earlier in the day, sources said the airline has issued termination notices to 25 cabin crew members who had reported sick and asked others to join back for duty by 4 pm on Thursday. Against this backdrop, Air India Express said it is taking appropriate steps against certain individuals. "While we will continue to engage with our cabin crew colleagues with a commitment to address any concern, we are taking appropriate steps against certain individuals as their actions have caused grave inconvenience to thousands of our guests," it added. Air India Express cancels 74 flights due to cabin crew shortage, to operate 292 flights

The <keyword id="19949639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="keywords">rupee</keyword> appreciated 8 paise to 83.44 against the <keyword id="19899478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US" source="keywords">US</keyword> <keyword id="19904292" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar" source="keywords">dollar</keyword> in early trade on Thursday, as the American currency retreated from its elevated levels. <keyword id="20024982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="forex-traders" source="keywords">Forex traders</keyword> said a negative trend in domestic equities and <keyword id="20520117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-fund-outflows" source="keywords">foreign fund outflows</keyword> weighed on the local unit and restricted the up move. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.49 against the greenback. It later touched 83.44 in initial trade, registering a rise of 8 paise from its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee stayed range-bound and settled 1 paisa lower at 83.52 against the US dollar. "Indian rupee was sold against the dollar as FPIs continued to sell stocks worth over Rs 6,000 crore on Wednesday and bought dollars keeping US dollar higher," said Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury and Executive Director Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP. Dollar buying could reemerge despite US dollar selling by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to protect the rupee, Bhansali added. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading at 105.51, lower by 0.03 per cent. "The US FED speakers warned that interest rates could remain higher for longer. More speakers would give their rhetoric on Thursday and Friday. The dollar index was stable at 105.54 while the US 10-year bond yield rose from 4.46 per cent to 4.50 per cent," Bhansali said. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.43 per cent to USD 83.94 per barrel. On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 176.2 points or 0.24 per cent to 73,290.19 in early trade. The NSE Nifty fell 49.75 points or 0.22 per cent to 22,252.75 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Wednesday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 6,669.10 crore, according to exchange data. Rupee rises 8 paise to 83.44 against US dollar in early trade

The <keyword id="19949639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="keywords">rupee</keyword> was trading in a narrow range against the American currency in early trade on Tuesday and appreciated 4 <keyword id="20045456" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paise" source="keywords">paise</keyword> to 83.48 against the <keyword id="19899478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US" source="keywords">US</keyword> <keyword id="19904292" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar" source="keywords">dollar</keyword> amid a positive trend in domestic equities. <keyword id="19950258" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="forex" source="keywords">Forex</keyword> traders said the strength of the American currency in the overseas market, elevated crude oil prices and foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit and restricted the up move. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 83.48 against the greenback, registering a rise of 4 paise from its previous close. On Monday, the rupee settled 7 paise lower at 83.52 against the US dollar. "India's enduringly strong economic fundamentals, coupled with its substantial foreign exchange reserves acting as a safety net, equip the Reserve Bank of India to effectively mitigate any downward pressure on the rupee," CR Forex Advisors MD Amit Pabari said. Moreover, substantial foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows are anticipated. The Adani Group is eyeing a USD 600 million raise via offshore loans, while Belstar Microfinance plans to raise USD 150 million through an IPO. "Considering these factors, the downside of the rupee is capped at 83.60. While it is expected to appreciate around 83 to 83.20 in the near-term, with medium-term appreciation ranging between 82.80 to 82.50 levels," Pabari said. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading at 105.18, higher by 0.13 per cent. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.29 per cent to USD 83.57 per barrel. On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 19.43 points or 0.03 per cent to 73,914.97 in early trade. The NSE Nifty advanced 19.90 points or 0.09 per cent to 22,462.60 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Monday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 2,168.75 crore, according to exchange data.
