The biggies in the Indian eCommerce space—<keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, Amazon or Flipkart—are intensifying their strategies to expand their businesses. What Delhi-headquartered e-tailer Snapdeal plans to do next is: add another weapon to its arsenal, which is services. Under services platform, Snapdeal may offer services from utility payments to personal loans. Snapdeal has signalled its ambitions to build a services platform to create a differentiation for itself in the country’s fastest growing eCommerce arena. This information was revealed in an Economic Times report. Snapdeal vice-president <keyword id="2827152" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idi-Srinivas-Murthy">Idi Srinivas Murthy</keyword> said, "A lot of people look at eCommerce as a sub-set of the retail pie, we say ‘No’. India is one of the largest consumption economies in the world, and it will double in the next couple of years. That is the opportunity." With this latest move, Snapdeal aims at grabbing a larger slice of the country's consumer market which is estimated to be worth $1.4 trillion as revealed in a government data. A recent <keyword id="45660" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yes-Bank">Yes Bank</keyword> and <keyword id="6355988" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Assocham">ASSOCHAM</keyword> report has also calculated that consumer spending in India will quadruple to $4.2 trillion by 2017. At present, Snapdeal's sales are estimated to be about $3.5 billion. Market experts believe that a larger share of services will help Snapdeal improve its margins. Arvind Singhal, chairman of retail consultancy <keyword id="182686" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Technopak">Technopak</keyword>, told the ET, "The incremental cost of delivery of services are lower, and can potentially give better profitability or returns on investment." The festive season is starting from October and the e-Commerce companies are gearing up to woo the customers. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=e-Commerce">e-Commerce industry</a> is expecting sales of Rs 25,600 crore ($4 billion) this year during <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Diwali">Diwali season</a>. 
 
As per the Hindu calendar, the festive season starts with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/7-Diverse-Dusshera-Celebrations-In-India/articleshow/43980552.cms">‘Navratri’</a> in the month of October. After October, there are a string of festivals and the festivities do not stop till December as the last month of the year is believed to be the most auspicious one for weddings. These festive months, as calculated by the <keyword id="3020651" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Technopark-Advisors">Technopark Advisors</keyword>, are expected to account 40% of the total $10-billion annual sales the Indian e-Commerce industry is aiming to record this year. 
 
The growing sector reported a $7-billion sale in FY15 with 40% sales coming during the festive season. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal+">Snapdeal </a>senior vice-president, marketing, Idi Srinivas Murthy, said that the company saw a 15x increase in traffic during <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> last year and this year too they were intensifying all aspects of business operations, including logistics, supply-chain, financial and technological support. 
 
"We have launched faster last-mile delivery solutions and a refreshed user interface. We are also developing a host of solutions for our 1,50,000 sellers," Murthy said. 
 
Being the most lucrative period for the whole industry, the companies often compete with each other to gain maximum benefits. The two major grounds on which all the e-tailers focus are delivery performance and customer satisfaction. 
 
Mumbai-based furniture and home products seller <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pepperfry">Pepperfry</a>, in a bid to make most of the festive season, has increased its merchant base, multiplied marketing outreach, has invested in doubling its logistics capabilities by expanding fulfillment centers, delivery and assembly capabilities as well as technology capabilities. 
 
The company’s chief marketing officer Kashyap Vadapalli said, "Our sales were up 200% (last Diwali) as we took necessary steps both at the logistics and supply end.” 
 
The coming festive months are crucial not just for the e-Commerce industry, but also for the companies providing logistics solutions. Logistics startup<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Delhivery+"> ‘Delhivery’</a> is expecting a significant surge in volumes, similar to last year. 
 "<keyword id="1560090" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhivery">Delhivery</keyword> is continuously investing in technology, infrastructure and automation to ensure such surges are managed well during the festive season," said Mohit Tandon, co-founder, of the firm. However, with rising demand, these companies are bound to face innumerable challenges. 
 
"Since the logistics partners are common to almost all players, fulfilling the demands over a given period of time becomes a concern," said Praveen Sinha, managing director and founder of online fashion retailer Jabong. "It is not always easy due to the overwhelming response that we get during this time. It sometimes becomes challenging to have a constant stock of products," he added. 
 
In the past one year mobile and internet penetration has increased further indicating that this year online purchasing will grow multi-fold compared to Diwali 2014, Kushal Nahata, CEO and co-founder of enterprise mobility platform FarEye said.

The job market in India, in recent times, has become both dynamic and more competitive. With an influx of <keyword id="428085" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="start-ups">start-ups</keyword>, which have disrupted the traditional ways of doing business, large Indian corporate have been scouting for talented C-suite executives for their companies. 
 
“One of the trends that has clearly stood out in the last one year is hiring younger CEOs, typically lesser than the traditional average age of a CEO. In addition to this, unlike before when the CEOs position were open for a longer time, at times up to one year, organizations nowadays are demanding the positions to be closed within 3-4 months. This trend can be witnessed across industries and across organizations irrespective of their size,” said James Agrawal, managing director, India and Thailand at BTI Consultants. 
 Besides, younger CEOs, <keyword id="46431" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-Inc">India Inc</keyword> preferred cross-industry CEOs as they provided a different perspective on the future course of action in a particular industry. However, Agrawal noted that the rate of attrition has substantially increased in the top management, with CEOs having a shorter stint as compared to the average tenure a few years back. “Loyalty and stability at the top is surely reducing as compared to the last few years,” he added. 
 Last year, we saw a handful of veterans across industries flocking the eCommerce sector by taking up plump positions in online retail giants. For instance, former chief service officer of <keyword id="6354287" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharti-Airtel">Bharti Airtel</keyword>, Jayant Sood joined etailer <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> as the chief customer Experience officer in March this year. Similarly, Idi Srinivas Murthy, who served Coca Cola as the marketing director, joined Snapdeal as senior vice-president, marketing this year itself. 
 
In April this year, used goods marketplace Quikr appointed former co-founder and CEO of real estate portal Favista as the head for new vertical QuikrHomes. In another such case of C-suite hiring, B2B online firm Tolexo.com, appointed former Jabong’s chief technology officer, Harsh Kundra as a co-founder and head of its Product and Technology vertical. 
 
Interestingly, in terms of sectors, IT/ITES and management Consulting, however, the top recruiters of CEOs with nearly 50% hiring in the space. Other sectors such as e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and financial services and insurance followed suit and made top level recruitment. 
 
It should be noted that C-suite executive hiring surged nearly 10% in 2014 over last year. And Agrawal has projected the hiring to go up by another 10% over FY15.
