<ul class="summary-list"><li><a href="https://attitude.co.uk/article/sir-ian-mckellen-so-happy-for-x-men-co-star-elliot-page-following-coming-out-announcement/24283/">In an interview with Attitude Magazine</a>, Sir Ian McKellen said he is "so happy" that his former "<keyword id="112243" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="X-Men">X-Men</keyword>" costar <a href="https://www.insider.com/elliot-page-transgender-he-they-pronouns-2020-12">Elliot Page came out as transgender.</a></li><li>McKellen said that Page was quiet on the set of one of the "X-Men" movies, but became noticeably more talkative after Page came out as gay in 2014.</li><li>McKellen said that he is "so disappointed" with himself that he didn't "detect" what Page's "difficulty was with communicating."</li></ul><p>Sir Ian McKellen said he's "so happy" that his "X-Men" costar <keyword id="10364268" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="elliot-page">Elliot Page</keyword> has come out as <keyword id="6358953" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Transgender">transgender</keyword>.</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/elliot-page-transgender-he-they-pronouns-2020-12">Page came out as transgender last month</a>, and McKellen told <a href="https://attitude.co.uk/article/sir-ian-mckellen-so-happy-for-x-men-co-star-elliot-page-following-coming-out-announcement/24283/">Attitude Magazine</a> that he remembers Page being very quiet on the set of the "X-Men" movies before he came out as gay in 2014 and, later in December 2020, as transgender.</p><p>"I remember Elliot Page, in one of the 'X-Men,' sat as close as we are now. And I had to speak when they'd finished, and I couldn't hear what they were saying. Nobody could hear what they were saying," McKellen said.</p><p>"So, I said, 'Look, if you can't speak up, would you mind when you're finished speaking, just dropping your hand so I know when you've finished speaking?' And then they came out [as gay] years later and suddenly you couldn't stop them talking. You heard everything."</p><div type="image" title="Magneto X Men" height="798" width="1069" msid="80154390" hostid="261"></div><p>McKellen played Magneto in the "X-Men" movies while Page joined the cast as Kitty Pryde in "The Last Stand" and "Days of Future Past." McKellen also told Attitude that he is "so disappointed" in himself that he didn't "detect what their [Page's] difficulty was with communicating."</p><p>Nevertheless, McKellen sent a message of positivity to Page, telling Attitude that "everything gets better" when you come out because "you get self-confidence." McKellen said that not only do relationships with friends and family improve, but one's "acting" improves, too.</p><p>McKellen said that one of the first pieces of acting he did after coming out in 1988 in response to Margaret Thatcher's Section 28 legislation (which prohibited the "promotion" of homosexuality) was the Anton Chekhov play "Uncle Vanya" at the National Theatre.</p><p>"I found in Act Three, when Vanya is at his peak of his misery, that I started crying," McKellen said. "I've never been able to cry, but I could now, because it was more me, the real me. However, the two didn't share scenes. His X-Men character would be pretty fitting to see. In the comics, Magneto is the father of Wanda and Pietro. Patrick Stewart Got Married And His 'X-Men' Co-Star Ian McKellen Officiated

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="12315043" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="patrick-stewart" source="Orion">Patrick Stewart</keyword> reacted to speculation that he'll reprise his "X-Men" role for "Doctor Strange 2."</li><li>A mysterious voice included in the most recent trailer seemed similar to that of Stewart. </li></ul><p>Patrick Stewart addressed <a href="https://www.insider.com/doctor-strange-2-trailer-teases-patrick-stewart-x-men-2022-2">speculation</a> that he'll reprise his "X-Men" role as Charles Xavier/Professor X in the upcoming "Doctor Strange" sequel.</p><p>"You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago," Stewart told <a href="https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/doctor-strange-2-multiverse-of-madness-trailer-patrick-stewart-professor-x-voice/">ComicBook.com.</a> "So, I can't be held responsible for that."</p><p>Stewart's comment came following the latest <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWzlQ2N6qqg">trailer</a> for "<keyword id="12794865" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="doctor-strange-in-the-multiverse-of-madness" source="Orion">Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness</keyword>," which was released during the Super Bowl on February 13. </p><p>The <a href="https://www.insider.com/spider-man-no-way-home-end-credits-explained-2021-12">first trailer for the film</a> was released in December following all the credits rolling in the theatrical release of "<a href="https://www.insider.com/spider-man-no-way-home-details-you-missed-breakdown-references-2021-12">Spider-Man: No Way Home.</a>"</p><p>The more recent trailer showed the returns of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo. The trailer also included Marvel newcomer Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez and the introduction of a Sinister Strange. </p><p>Perhaps most notably, one scene at the 1:18 mark of the trailer showed Doctor Strange standing in front of a figure who said, "We should tell him the truth." </p><div type="image" title="Doctor Strange 2 trailer teases Professor X" height="1190" width="2726" msid="89733269" hostid="261"></div><p>The person's face was obscured, with the camera angle showing a small portion of the back of their head and shoulders. The closed captions for the trailer only identified the speaker as "mystery voice."</p><p>Despite not getting a clear answer about the figure's identity, many fans on Twitter attributed the voice to Stewart. </p><p>Fans also theorized that Stewart's character in "Doctor Strange 2" will be part of the covert superhero group known as <a href="https://www.marvel.com/teams-and-groups/illuminati">The Illuminati</a>.</p><p>In an interview with <a href="https://twitter.com/KevinMcCarthyTV/status/1494881675221909506">ReelBlend's Kevin McCarthy</a>, Stewart played coy and said that he wasn't aware of the chatter online because he doesn't "look at a lot of social media."</p><p>"But, I must say, before bedtime on Sunday evening, I've had plenty of communication, friends, and some people I hardly knew at all making reference to 'Is that you? Is that you?'" he recalled.  "Well, of course, I was just at home waiting to watch football, so how could it possibly have been me? So we'll have to wait and see, won't we?"</p><p>Stewart first portrayed Charles Xavier, a mutant with telekinetic powers, in the 2000 film "X-Men" costarring Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, and James Marsden.  </p><p>The legendary actor reprised the role for more "X-Men" films as well as Jackman's standalone "Wolverine" films. Most recently, Stewart appeared in the final "Wolverine" film titled "Logan," which was released in 2017. </p><div type="image" title="Benedict Cumberbatch in &quot;Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.&quot;" height="1200" width="1599" msid="89733272" hostid="261"></div><p>Although Charles was killed in the <keyword id="11897475" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="movie" source="Orion">movie</keyword>, he could still exist in the <keyword id="11931627" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="marvel-cinematic-universe" source="Orion">Marvel Cinematic Universe</keyword> (MCU). </p><p>Disney <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/disney-acquires-fox-71-billion-dollar-deal-2019-3">acquired Fox's entertainment assets in 2019,</a> which means that Marvel characters like the X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four can show up in the MCU. </p><p>The recent MCU projects like "<a href="https://www.insider.com/loki-finale-explained-marvel-future-impact-2021-7">Loki</a>" and "<a href="https://www.insider.com/spider-man-no-way-home-tom-holland-tobey-maguire-andrew-garfield-real-life-hints-2021-12">Spider-Man: No Way Home</a>" have shown how alternate versions of characters, known as variants, will become a huge factor in the future as the multiverse is unleashed. </p><p>In an interview with <a href="https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a30526782/x-men-marvel-mcu-professor-x-patrick-stewart/">Digital Spy</a> published in January 2020, Stewart also said that he met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. </p><p>"I met with Kevin Feige a couple of months ago and we had long, long conversations," he said. "And there have been moves and suggestions, which include Charles Xavier."</p><p>He added, "Here's the problem... If we had not made 'Logan,' then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier. Shortly after its release, the film's distributor Universal announced that it would be releasing an updated version of the film with <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cats-movie-visual-effects-re-release-2019-12?amp%3Butm_medium=referral&amp;r=US&amp;IR=Tamp;IR=T">"improved visual effects."</a></p><p>Unfortunately, those changes did little to save the film's already battered reputation. It would go on to <a href="https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a31695548/cats-razzie-awards-2020-worst-picture-james-corden/">win six Razzie Awards</a> including Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Director; and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the creator of the original "Cats" theatre show, which opened on the London West End in 1981, <a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/andrew-lloyd-webber-interview-on-his-new-musical-cinderella-and-the-future-of-theatre-23nlfl002">told The Sunday Times</a> that the adaptation was "ridiculous."</p><p>"The problem with the film was that Tom Hooper decided, as he had with 'Les Mis,' that he didn't want anybody involved in it who was involved in the original show," Lloyd Webber said.</p><p>Derulo, however, is still determined to see the positive side, and said that he has learnt a valuable lesson from his first big-screen experience. "You can't wait for the perfect moment, cause that might not be your moment," he said. "So you've just got to go for gold.
