Investment experts have projected a positive turnaround for the ITC stock with 41 out of 43 analysts on Bloomberg giving a "buy" or "Hold" call for the stock. As per JM Financial, the addressable opportunity for ITC is still $ 22 billion - larger than even HUL's 'size of markets' and more than three times that of Nestle India's. ITC in FY30 could clock an FMCG EBITDA that is higher than the combined FY20 EBITDA of Nestle India, Britannia, Tata Consumer, JM Financial said. It said that ITC's FMCG segment is possibly one of the most under-appreciated businesses in the Indian consumer space in recent times. "We suspect the market may not have taken a holistic look yet; our understanding of Indian consumer categories tells us that ITC FMCG today addresses market opportunities that are Rs 2.1 trillion ($ 28 billion) in size in aggregate. Even if one excludes a couple of nascent Dairy products from the portfolio, the addressable opportunity for ITC is still $ 22 billion - larger than even HUL's 'size of markets' and more than three times that of Nestle India's," it added. "Profitability is low at present, but we reckon that with investment-phase largely done (though some new categories are still in incubation stages), profits and cash-generation would get much bigger here onwards," the report said. As per Centrum Broking, "In our deep dive analysis into ITC's foods business we conclude that it is at the cusp of a take-off both in terms of top-line and margins." "ITC is emerging as a foods company, more comparable to Nestle than HUL. Branded packed food consistently gaining saliency given the management focus (saliency increased from 71 per cent of other FMCG in FY14 to 81 per cent in FY20)," it added. It is the only company which has successful brands from staples (Aashirvaad) to RTC and RTE (Sunfeast, Bingo, Yippee etc.). ITC has made consistent investments in brand building over the past decade helping create brands across the branded packed food categories from staples a and dairy to RTC and RTE. Aashirvaad, Sunfeast, Bingo and Yippee now account for Rs 60 billion, 40 billion, 27 billion and 13 billion in consumer spend terms. As per BNP Paribas, there is a faster than expected recovery in ITC's cigarette business. The catalyst for ITC is a faster than expected recovery in cigarette volumes and higher than expected margin expansion in the FMCG business. As per B&amp;K Securities, a turnaround in cigarette volumes is expected from September onwards. "We believe the gradual lifting of start/stop lockdowns in most states, opening up of bars/clubs in some states and more attendance in offices due to lesser fears from Covid-19 will lead to the marginal smoker slowly coming back. Given the fact that 30 per cent of the smokers' user base comprises of non-regular smokers who have been impacted by the start/stop lockdowns, we feel the industry figures will start looking up from September 2020," it added. Investment experts bullish on ITC, expect a positive turnaround ahead

<ul><li>ITC re-measured its annual tax expenses after the government reduced the corporate tax rate. </li><li>Its profits were boosted by a ₹166 crore tax credit for the quarter. </li><li>Its revenues grew by a modest 6% for the quarter to ₹12,525 crore. </li></ul> ITC’s second quarter net profit jumped by 36% to ₹4,023 crore from ₹2,954 crore in the same quarter last year, all thanks to a deferred tax credit worth ₹166 crore for the quarter. Its revenues grew by a modest 6% for the quarter to ₹12,525 crore as compared to ₹11,776 crore in the same quarter last year. The company remeasured its annual tax expenses after the government changed the corporate tax rate. “The resultant impact is being recognized over the current and the remaining quarters of the financial year. Consequently, the tax expense for the current quarter and six months ended September 30, 2019 includes a credit of ₹340 crore,” ITC said in a statement with the quarterly results announcement. The company’s stock traded flat in anticipation the quarterly earnings report, as it went up by 0.8% in today’s trade. ITC has set ambitious targets for itself to generate as much as ₹1 lakh crore in revenue from its FMCG business by 2030. Last financial year, its sales from cigarattes fell to 45.8% as its hotels and FMCG divisions performed well. Essentially, as the report explained, the profit margin 2020 should be wider than what it was 2015, and the asset turnover (sales divided by assets) in 2020 should have improved in the last five years, while the debt should be manageable i.e. debt to equity ratio should be less than one. Most of these 17 stocks beat the Sensex by a wide margin in the amount of wealth they created for their long-term investors. “Rising margin and asset turn with healthy leverage is a sound formula for investing success,” the report said. Only two of them, both multinational engineering companies, ABB and Siemens, performed worse than the Sensex in the last five years despite having passed the Du Pont test. There are one of only 17 Indian companies out of 500 that aced the Du Pont test

Multi-business company <keyword id="6357073" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="itc" source="Orion">ITC</keyword> Ltd on Tuesday said it has commissioned a 14.9 MW <keyword id="59444" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="solar-power-plant" source="Orion">solar power plant</keyword> in Dindigul, <keyword id="20154" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tamil-nadu" source="Orion">Tamil Nadu</keyword>. According to the company, the 14.9 MW <keyword id="70990" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="solar-power" source="Orion">solar power</keyword> plant was built at an outlay of Rs 76 crore thereby meeting 90 per cent of the company's power needs in Tamil Nadu from renewable sources. ITC plans to meet 100 per cent of the entire grid electricity requirements from renewable sources by 2030 and contribute meaningfully to combat the threat of climate change, the company said. Spread over 59 acres, the Dindigul solar plant will generate over 22 million units of renewable energy annually for ITC's hotels, food manufacturing plants, paper manufacturing facility, and printing and packaging factories in Tamil Nadu. "At ITC, we have relentlessly pursued a mission for environmental stewardship through a gamut of large-scale endeavours that comprehensively address the threat of climate change. Our large-scale investments in renewable energy assets are an integral part of our low carbon strategy aimed at making a meaningful contribution to a net zero economy," Sanjiv Rangrass, Group Head - ITC Life Sciences &amp; Technology, Central Projects, EHS &amp; Quality Assurance said. ITC's renewable portfolio comprises 138 MW of wind power plants and 14 MW of solar plants with 53MW of additional solar capacity under execution. Currently, projects are also underway in other sources of renewable energy like biomass boilers. The company has made investments of over Rs 1,000 crore in renewable energy assets to date. Renewable energy powers 20 factories, nine hotels, and six office buildings of ITC in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, West Bengal, and Punjab. In 2018, ITC became the first private sector entity to wheel renewable energy across states through the Inter-State Open Access mechanism. Currently, ITC's 46MW Wind power plant in Andhra Pradesh supplies power to over 15 ITC establishments in eight states. This has led to a higher renewable energy utilisation for the company. Besides investing in new renewable energy assets, ITC, as part of its Sustainability 2.0 agenda aims to achieve a 50 per cent reduction in specific emissions and a 30 per cent reduction in specific energy consumption by 2030 over a 2014-15 baseline. Such efforts in decarbonising energy consumption through low-carbon energy solutions will be met through large-scale digitalisation and R&amp;D initiatives, cross-sectoral collaborations, and partnerships. ITC is an exemplar in environment stewardship. The Company was recently rated at the 'Leadership Level' with scores of 'A-' for both Climate Change and Water Security by CDP, one of the most reputed independent global platforms for disclosures on environmental impacts. Its FMCG segment delivered a decent sales growth of 15.4% (YoY), but wasn’t enough to offset the volume decline of 12% in its cigarette segment. The shares of ITC ended 0.54% lower on Friday. Divi’s Labs Drug firm, Divi’ ’s Laboratories, reported a 45.63% rise in its consolidated net profit to ₹519.59 crore for the quarter ended September 30, mainly on account of robust sales. Consolidated total income stood at ₹1,762.94 crore compared to ₹1,492.60 crore for the same period a year ago. The shares of Divi’s Labs ended 0.40% higher on Friday. Biocon Kiran Mazumdar Shaw-led Biocon’s subsidiary, Biocon Biologics, had received a ₹1,125 crore investment from Goldman Sachs. This capital injection will enable Biocon Biologics to make prudent investments in R&amp;D, high-quality manufacturing, as well as, establish a global commercial footprint, the company said. Lakshmi Vilas Bank Private sector Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB) reported a net loss of ₹397 crore in the second quarter ended September 30 due to a rise in bad loans and provisions. Sequentially, the loss widened against ₹112.28 crore in the June quarter of this fiscal. The shares of Lakshmi Vilas Bank ended 0.64% higher on Friday. Voltas Electronics major Voltas reported 25.74% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹79.66 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company also decided to restructure its business; it would transfer 100% of the B2B businesses to its wholly-owned subsidiary — Rohini Industrial Electricals Ltd (RIEL). The shares of Voltas ended 1% higher on Friday. Vedanta Vedanta reported a 61.8% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹824 crore for the quarter ended September 30, on the back of one-time tax expense. The decline came despite the stellar 33% growth in its revenue to ₹20,804 crore during the quarter under review. The shares of Vedanta ended 0.21% higher on Friday. Tata Consumer Products Tata Consumer Products reported an 18% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹234.33 crore for the quarter ended September 30, helped by an increase in domestic sales and volumes. Its revenue from operations was up 18.50% to ₹2,781.34 crore during the quarter under review. The shares of Tata Consumer Products ended 0.64% higher on Friday.
