After a relatively muted first half, revenue in the second half of the year witnessed double-digit growth. Over the last five years, market and outlet coverage have grown 4x and 1.6x, respectively, while the network of stockists has expanded to 6.4x during the same period. The impact of these multi-dimensional interventions is evident in the substantial margin expansion of 650 bps in Segment EBITDA over the last five years even in the face of significant inflationary headwinds witnessed during the year. After an extremely challenging FY 2020-21, the Hotels Segment witnessed smart recovery driven by the domestic leisure and wedding segments; business travel also saw progressive improvement, albeit remaining well below pre-pandemic levels. Pick-up in revenues together with relentless focus on cost management resulted in a positive swing of Rs 346.63 crore in Segment EBITDA, despite considerable disruptions caused by the two waves of the pandemic during the year. The Agri Business segment delivered stellar performance with segment revenue and results growing by 28.7 per cent and 25.6 per cent, respectively. This was driven by strong growth in wheat, rice, spices and leaf tobacco exports on the back of strong customer relationships, robust sourcing network and agile execution. The Agri Business has been a strong backbone and a key source of competitive advantage for ITC's FMCG and cigarettes businesses. The scope and scale of operations have grown manifold over the years and currently encompass over 4 million tonnes in 22 states and over 20 agri-value chains. The Paperboards, Paper and Packaging segment recorded strong growth of 36 per cent in segment revenue and 54.7 per cent in segment results. However, the latest reason to cheer for ITC shareholders is the technology subsidiary called ITC Infotech, which is barely spoken of in the context of the century old company. A news report from CNBC Awaaz today said that the board of directors may consider spinning out this IT business. ITC has a ₹2,500 crore IT business hiding in plain sight and that makes the street go Yippee!

"We write to advise that the news item under reference is speculative in nature," the ITC said in a filing with reference to the news item in a TV channel. "We draw your attention that if and when there is any material development with respect to the affairs of the Company, the Stock Exchanges are kept advised, pursuant to <keyword id="163506" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="regulation">Regulation</keyword> 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 read with the Company's Policy for determination of materiality of events and information for disclosure to the Stock Exchanges," the ITC said. As per reports, ITC is readying a demerger plan with a big unlocking of value for shareholders. Conglomerate <keyword id="6357073" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="itc" source="Orion">ITC</keyword> on Friday said it will acquire a 16 per cent stake in <keyword id="6893485" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mother-sparsh" source="Orion">Mother Sparsh</keyword>, a D2C Ayurvedic and natural personal care brand, for Rs 20 crore through a share subscription agreement. Mother Sparsh is a premium Ayurvedic and natural personal care start-up in the D2C space, focusing on mother and baby care segments. "The said acquisition will, inter alia, enable access to the fast-growing direct to consumer (D2C) space in the 'personal care' category, which has been identified by the company as an area of interest," ITC said in a regulatory filing. This share acquisition is expected to be completed, in two tranches, within eight months from the date of execution of the Agreements. It will also be subject to completion of conditions and a shareholders' agreement in connection with the proposed acquisition, it added. Mother Sparsh, which was incorporated on February 5, 2016 had reported a turnover of Rs 15.44 crore in FY 2020-21. Commenting on the development ITC Chief Executive, Personal Care Products Business Sameer Satpathy said, "We believe that this investment provides an exciting opportunity which is in alignment with our aspiration to have a significant play both in the naturals and Ayurvedic segment as well as in the D2C channel." Mother Sparsh CEO Himanshu said, "ITC has been a frontrunner in developing a portfolio of vibrant FMCG brands and has been making giant strides in this space through a focus on innovation and digitalization. ITC to acquire 16% stake in Mother Sparsh that focuses on baby care segment

Although the company reported 9% year-on-year growth in net profit to ₹2,187 crore as against ₹2,009 crore in the same quarter last year, investors were disappointed on lower than expected volume growth. The company delivered 4% year-on-year volume growth in the July-September quarter lower than estimates of 5-7%. Food segment that includes products like Horlicks, Kissan, Bru, Kwality Wall’s saw a slowdown in revenue growth. Food segment grew only 7% in the September quarter as against 12% in the June quarter. Hindustan Unilever attributed the dull growth in the food segment to reasonably high sales in the previous quarters. <div type="image" title="HUL cchart" height="900" width="1200" msid="87136921" hostid="261"></div> The company has declared a dividend of ₹15 per share in this quarter. It has invested more into distribution — particularly direct distribution in rural areas — during the months of September to December as per IIFL securities. Other brands have come with the same confidence. And, while they were marginally successful, Maggi still dominates the Indian market. Maggi has overcome bigger challenges in the past When Maggi first stepped foot in India in 1983, it had the magnamious task of bringing a population that only eats wheat and rice onto its side with noodles. And, for the first ten years, Maggi didn’t make Nestle any profits. Food habits take time to change, and Maggi knew that. By 2009, Maggi — more or less — had a monopoly over the instant noodles segment. Right now, India is the fourth largest consumer of instant noodles in the world, according to the World Instant Noodles Association. As the market was growing, other players took notice. Major fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies like Hindustan Unilever, ITC and GlaxoSmithKline stepped into the instant noodles market in a big way. But they were barely able to make a dent in Maggi’s domination. However, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/nestle-india-ceo-admits-maggi-ban-was-the-result-of-a-major-breakdown-in-communication-with-the-govt/articleshow/49889701.cms">‘the crisis’ of 2015</a> had a bigger impact. But, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) found monosodium glutamate — what most people refer to as MSG — in Maggi samples. It issued a recall and banned Maggi nationwide. Goldman Sachs says buy these 12 Indian stocks who have enough cash flow to thrive despite the Covid-19 crash

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/50961734.cms" /> Hoping to standardise what comes under the 'digital' definition, <keyword id="6372077" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nasscom">Nasscom</keyword>'s executive council is busy framing out what could be called digital, as the business accounts for about 15% of the overall IT sector revenue. 
 
Up until now, this used to be a loosely defined vague term which was used by everyone differently. However, a standard definition of the word digital would make meaningful comparison possible. 
 
"The executive council is holding discussions to try and figure out how we can bring everyone onto the same definition because currently everyone is using a different one. They are working on it, it will take some time," Sushma Rajagopalan, CEO of mid-tier IT company ITC Infotech, told ET. She is the chairperson of the Nasscom IT services council and a member of the executive council. 
 
A rigid definition of the word ‘digital’ is necessary because of the differences that arise when companies count their so-called digital revenues. For example., in its annual investor day in New York in October, Accenture claimed that it had over $7 billion in digital revenues and another $3.5 billion in revenue in cloud. While Indian IT companies typically include cloud revenues as part of their digital revenue. 
 
"You are comparing apples to oranges to pineapples to doorknobs. And so we all know it but we are still doing it, because at this point, being vague helps everyone because no one wants to tell you that their digital business is moving people to the cloud, which is actually their infrastructure business," a long-time IT executive who declined to be identified told ET.

When 80,000 coders from 9,000 IT companies were given a chance to fight the TechGig Code Gladiators 2015 battle using a weapon of their choice i.e. a programming language they love, we realized that Java is the love of their life. Contestants preferred Java over 9 other programming languages, which includes: C, C++, C#, PHP, Java Script, Python, Perl, Ruby and VB.net. 
 
TechGig Code Gladiators is a national level competition that showcases the company with the best coders and identifies the Best Coder in the Country. 
 
In the initial online rounds of the Code Gladiators 2015, the top 100 coders battled it out face-to-face in the grand finale to win coveted titles and prize money of Rs 6 lakhs. And at the finale, when India got its five best coders, Java emerged as the most popular coding language among the top coders. 
 
Apurv Gupta from Oracle (the winner), Surender Godara from SapientNitro (first runner-up), Victor Hoh from AWPL (second runner-up), <a href="http://www.techgig.com/ankitvij">Ankit Vij</a> from Cvent India Pvt Ltd (fourth runner-up) and <a href="http://www.techgig.com/hinabhatia1">Hina Bhatia</a> from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Steria/112676715413273?fref=ts">Steria</a> (TechGig Code Diva and best women coder) - all chose Java as their preferred language to sail through the contest.

Speaking to TechGig after the finale, Surender Godara from SapientNitro said that for the first two virtual rounds, he was coding in C language but the final problems were so tough he had to switch to Java. 
 
Only the third runner-up, <a href="http://www.techgig.com/sonusingal">Sonu Singal</a> from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/algoworkstech?fref=ts">Algoworks Technologies</a>, was the lone winner to code in C# (C sharp) in the grand finale of Code Gladiators. 
 
Similar to <a href="http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2014-07-14/news/51485010_1_coding-talent-experience">the 2014 edition of TechGig Code Gladiators</a>, majority of the participants of this year’s contest too coded in Java, followed by C# and C/C++. Coders this year also turned to trending languages such as Python and Ruby.
