These are crazy queues in Gatwick airport," Gedi, a Lithuanian national returning to his home in the UK, told BI. "I'm feeling very sweaty and very hot."After around 50 minutes, BI's reporter entered the main border control hall, where more staff were on hand, trying their best to calm the crowds and handing out bottles of water."It's a national outage of the e-gates," one airport official confirmed to BI. "The Home Office will know more, but it's across all the airports nationwide. It's unplanned."A massive wave of arrivals had recently arrived at Gatwick's north terminal, making the delays particularly bad, she said.The official, who started her shift at 6 p.m., told BI at around half past midnight that the issue had been ongoing for about six hours.However, the British Home Office told BI that "a wider system network issue" had been detected by engineers at 7.44 p.m."A large-scale contingency response was activated within 6 minutes," the Home Office said. "This discovery, in my opinion, is the most important discovery in the 21st century," <a href="https://twitter.com/TODAYshow/status/1631276032589193218?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zahi Hawass</a>, former Egyptian minister of antiquities and archaeologist, said per the Today show. The Cabinet on Thursday approved Rs 12,000 crore for the second phase of the <keyword id="1869019" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="green-energy-corridor" source="Orion">Green Energy Corridor</keyword> to facilitate grid integration and power evacuation of about 20 GW of renewable energy projects in seven states. The scheme targets to add approximately 10,750 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and about 27,500 mega volt-amperes transformation capacity of sub-stations. Announcing the decision, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said the second phase will be implemented during 2021-22 to 2025-26 fiscal years. He said central assistance is 33 per cent of the total investment. The minister added that 80 per cent of the phase one work has been completed. The outlay of the first phase was Rs 10,142 crore.
