<ul><li><keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> has introduced <keyword id="9245571" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ISOCELL-GN1">ISOCELL GN1</keyword>, a new <keyword id="9245568" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="50mp-sensor">50MP sensor</keyword> that supports 8K video recording.</li><li>It has a large 1.2µm pixel size and offers Dual Pixel and Tetracell technologies.</li></ul>South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics on Tuesday introduced ISOCELL GN1, a new 50MP image sensor with large 1.2µm-sized pixels. For premium video quality, the image sensor supports video recording at up to 8K resolution at 30 frames-per-second (fps). The ISOCELL GN1 is Samsung's first image sensor to offer both Dual Pixel and Tetracell technologies. According to the company, the GN1 brings image sensor performance to a new level with a combination of elevated light sensitivity for stellar low-light photos and DSLR-level auto-focus speeds, optimized for more dynamic picture-taking experiences. "The ISOCELL GN1 is part of that commitment to deliver stunning images to consumers in any environment," Yongin Park, executive vice president of sensor business at Samsung Electronics, said in a statement. The GN1 brings auto-focusing with 100 million phase detection auto-focus (PDAF) agents. Samsung's Dual Pixel technology places two photodiodes side-by-side within a single pixel that can receive light from different angles for phase detection. With all of the sensor's active pixels working as auto-focusing agents, the GN1 aims to detect and focus onto a desired still or moving object from every corner in an instant, even in low-light conditions. Samsung introduces 50MP sensor with dual pixel technology, 8K video recording support

For ultimate low-light photography, the ISOCELL HP1 features an all-new ChameleonCell technology, a pixel-binning technology that uses a two-by-two, four-by-four or full pixel layout, depending on the environment. As per the video and official explanation from Samsung, it can do 2X2 pixel binning, thereby enabling the sensor to shoot 8K videos, with the adequate shrinking of the field of view. In a low-lit environment, the HP1 transforms into a 12.5MP image sensor with large 2.56im pixels by merging 16 neighbouring pixels. It supports multi-sampling, which reads out each pixel several times and averages the readings. Meanwhile, the ISOCELL GN5 is the industry's first 1.0im image sensor to integrate Dual Pixel Pro, an all-directional auto-focusing technology that can substantially boost auto-focusing capabilities. This technology places two photodiodes, the smallest in the industry, within each 1.0im pixel of the sensor either horizontally or vertically to recognize pattern changes in all directions. In addition, to ensure that the autofocus is quick and accurate, Samsung equipped the ISOCELL HP1 with Double Super PD. Samsung releases video explaining key features of its first 200MP mobile camera sensor

The ISOCELL PH1 sensor features ‘ChameleonCell’ technology which is pixel binning for better low-light photography. Pixel binning combines multiple pixels to create one large superpixel. This helps in reducing noise in photos for clearer and brighter images. So you’re getting a photo with a low resolution but with higher image quality. Samsung’s ISOCELL GN5 200-megapixel sensor uses the 12.5-megapixel sensor to capture photos in low-light conditions by merging 16 adjacent pixels. In well-lit conditions, the 200-megapixel sensor is used to capture photos. The ISOCELL HP1 sensor is also capable of taking 8K videos at 30 frames per second (fps). Here too it uses pixel binning to combine four adjacent pixels bringing down the resolution to 50-megapixel for 8K videos. Samsung’s next flagship smartphone would be the Galaxy S22 series where the 200-megapixel sensor would ideally debut. But some rumours suggest that the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/mobile/news/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-to-feature-a-108mp-primary-camera/articleshow/84201428.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Galaxy S22 Ultra</a> could continue with the 108-megapixel camera that the Galaxy S21 Ultra has.
