These figures are more common in sectors such as education and design, where entry-level salaries tend to be modest compared to other fields. <h2>IIT Bombay 2024 placements: Number of students who got jobs </h2>Out of the 2,414 students who registered for placements, 1,475 students secured job offers, bringing the placement rate to 74.53%. IIT Bombay 2024 placements: Lowest salary drops to Rs 4 LPA, 22 students get Rs 1 crore package

IIT Kharagpur kicks off placement season with a bang — 5 students bag offers over ₹1 crore

With the nationwide lockdown in force, the IIT-Kharagpur has advised its students to apply for summer internships in its departments, an official of the institute said on Saturday.It said the students can also approach companies that offer online internships, he said. Students of the IIT-Kharagpur will do internships from April to July this year. "We are allocating students to work as interns in ongoing projects in the institute," Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Debasis Deb said. Meanwhile, the IIT-Kharagpur has formed a placement task force to liaise with companies to ensure that placement offers remain consistent amid the coronavirus outbreak, the institute tweeted. A total of 1,306 offers were made in 2019-20 fiscaland there has been no cancellation so far, it said. The IIT-Kharagpur has preponed summer holidays by a month to April 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak and all classes were conducted online since March 24, Deb said. The online classes helped the institute complete the classes as per the academic schedule, he added.

According to the company, the remuneration for these job roles will range from ₹15 lakhs to ₹28.5 lakhs, depending on the role. Other than the core software roles, it will also hire nearly 80 freshers as web developers, UI developers, database engineer, business development associates, research analysts, and aata analysts. “With a major share of the marketers’ budget being allocated to digital ads, there is widespread demand for professionals to meet the growing needs of customers. These new hires will bring with them innovative ideas and help us build a next-gen technology platform,” the company said in a statement. While for the managerial roles, it is absorbing talent from top b-schools in India, including Indian School of Business (ISB), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research for product management, product analytics, and product marketing roles. As many as 130 students received job offers at SRCC. “We haven't seen an overall impact of the slowdown in placements. The number of companies coming has more or less remained the same since last year, however the number of students that were made an offer to have increased,” Kanika K Ahuja, placement in-charge at LSR told ET. The students who get admission to these Delhi University-affiliated colleges have to score over 95% in the 12th grade — due to high cut-offs. Among the top recruiters were Gartner, EY, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, Samsung and Accenture. The highest offer stood at ₹18 lakh per annum. The average compensation at other DU colleges fluctuated between ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh per annum. While the overall average salaries in India went up by 45% for undergraduate students. This is despite the economic downturn in the country. The growing trend of summer placements The growing trend of summer placements and pre-placement offers too might have had an effect on the increased interest of recruiters. Companies like Deutsche Bank, Citi Bank are also banking on summer placements to assess talent, thereby extending pre-placement offers. Delhi University students bag job offers that pay as much as ₹31 lakh per annum

Some of the larger recruiters from the previous year from e-commerce like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Flipkart-wont-be-among-the-first-ones-to-hire-at-IITs-may-lose-privilege-after-fallout-with-IIM-A/articleshow/52445158.cms">Flipkart</a>, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> and Hopscotch did not come for summer placements. They are expected to stay away from the upcoming placements as well. "FMCG and other standard recruiters hired in larger numbers and students got their choice of internships. The trend might continue into the finals,” said Sapna Agarwal, head of career development services at IIM Bangalore. 
 <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> particularly is likely to stay off campuses and instead focus on absorbing the students it has previously hired, as per company sources. 
 
175 students from IITs have been interning with Flipkart who will be graduating in 2017 and the company claims it is focusing on making them Pre Placement Offers. The remaining 250 odd students from IITs and IIMs whose<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Flipkart-IIM-fallout-IITs-plan-safety-net-for-students-as-startups-go-back-on-their-promised-job-offers/articleshow/52478430.cms"> joining dates were deferred by the e-commerce giant</a> will join the company mid-December. This will make up for Flipkart's campus needs for 2017. 
 At IIT-M, <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> is also unlikely to participate — the search engine giant will be recruiting from select IITs, apart from its internal process. 
 
At such a time, the institutes have been banking on public sector undertakings for jobs. PSUs were in great demand in IITs before a public interest litigation was filed in 2011 against the campus recruitment process. The petition cited that the PSUs recruiting directly from campuses defies the public employment policy and that they cannot disregard job notifications. After a long hiatus from campuses, the PSUs were expected to be back on the premier institutions after the Madras High Court dismissed a plea against direct recruitment in September last year. 
 
This year, IITs reached out to 80-odd PSUs in the country for placements. About five have confirmed their presence in each of these institutes. ISRO, Indian Navy and Coal India are already recruiting from IIT Madras campus. Meanwhile, some of the PSUs registered at IITs have opted for slots in the second phase of recruiting in January.

Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon secured 100% placements within the first three days — with Amazon offering the highest package at ₹40.5 lakhs. The average compensation too increased by 9.5% at ₹ 22.05 lakhs. Of the total 360 offers rolled out, nearly 70 came from ecommerce and IT sectors. This includes nearly 41 offers from e-commerce platforms like Flipkart, Make My Trip, Oyo, PhonePe and 27 offers from the IT giants like Accenture, Capgemini, IBM and Tech Mahindra. In an interview with Business Insider, Kanwal Kapil, Dean of Placements at MDI, Gurgaon said that the employers are now keen on hiring management graduates with digital literacy. “When you talk about digital businesses, they will definitely look at retaining talent with digital skills. The e-commerce sector has seen the highest growth, in terms of hiring at nearly 141%, compared to last year,” he said. Over half of the offers (57%) were from companies in the consulting, BFSI (Banking, Insurance and Financial Services), technology and telecom domains. This includes 63 offers from PwC, Deloitte, ICICI Bank, IDFC Bank and Airtel. While automotive, logistics and pharmaceuticals accounted for almost 15% of the offers. PwC US Advisory emerged the largest recruiter with 14 offers, followed by Deloitte USI, ICICI Bank and IDFC First Bank with 13 offers each. Telecom major Airtel made 10 offers. Kapil told that all of these offers were for domestic roles. However, since most of the employers are global multinationals, these might also lead to international projects, depending on the demand. The institute also witnessed a 40% increase in offers coming from the consulting sector during the summer placements. Amazon becomes the top recruiter at MDI Gurgaon with a ₹40.5 lakh offer

B-school students who have been a part of <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> internships are often seen giving rave reviews about the company, and it's testimony to the fact that this e-commerce company manifests a great work culture for interns and employees alike. 
 We came across one such review by student <keyword id="186315" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="sakshi-singh">Sakshi Singh</keyword> who studies in <keyword id="3860398" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="shailesh-jain-mehta-school-of-management">Shailesh Jain Mehta School of Management</keyword>, IIT Bombay. She has always been "fascinated by the fast-paced, ever-changing world of e-Commerce." 
 
Sakshi got her first chance to experience the inside e-commerce world when she bagged an internship opportunity with Snapdeal during her summer placements. 
 
"I remember, after the selection process was over, HR tweeted a picture of us and since then I was even closely following Snapdeal all over from news feed to social media. I was waiting for my journey to kick-start," she wrote in her blog on Insideiim.com 
 Sakshi went on to explain why she fell in love with this company and is in awe of <keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword>, the founder of Snapdeal. This is what her feedback tells us about the company: 
 
It's one hell of an easy going place 
"A day before joining, all interns received a mail stating that we needed to be in formals for Induction. So, we showed up in an exquisite Induction Hall the next day, all suited-booted and set to conquer the e-commerce world. But we soon learned that the HR managers were simply messing with us. Snapdeal doesn’t have a dress code. It’s a very open and informal place to be in. During induction, we learned more about Snapdeal and also about the heads of various verticals. They shared their vision for the organization and their functional expertise, which helped me frame the right approach for my coming days at Snapdeal..." 
 
Snapdeal has interactive, warm and motivating employees "Next day, I was warmly received by my mentor and manager and was introduced to the whole team. I was overwhelmed to know that my project was the key KPI of the whole team. But, it struck me - "What should I do now?" The project title was a 5-word sentence, the meaning of which was a struggle to decipher. Even <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> failed to help me. So, I had no option but to bother my team members on the very first day. After a few hours of discussion, I had a roadmap for me. In the course of the next 7 weeks, I interacted with numerous employees from multiple departments. Everybody I met at Snapdeal was very transparent, receptive and extremely supportive." 
 
It offers great exposure and provides superb mentors 
"The real challenge of my project was - In the current set of resources, the system can’t be optimized anymore. It either needed a lot of money or a lot of time. But the system definitely needed improvement. So, I decided to seek some guidance from my mentor. His simple reply to this was - Think innovative, Something new. You are new to the system, and so you don’t have any bias. So, just forget the system in place and find us a solution. 
 
It was here, Sakshi says, where her quest for innovation began. A comprehensive primary research plan was laid out. Right from visiting third party partners to listening to customer comments, competitor benchmarking, mystery shopping, surveys, understanding other functions inside Snapdeal, Sakshi was at her game in full force. "I used to discuss all my ideas with my team and manager, and almost on daily basis. I learned a lot from them. While research helped me in generating ideas, discussions helped me in full-proofing and validating those ideas." 
 
Interns are like permanent employees 
"At one point in time, I almost felt like a permanent employee, not just responsibility wise, but because I was also given the freedom to make my own decisions. I loved my job, I loved my office and I loved the energy at Snapdeal." 
 
There's opportunity for networking with other B-school students and learning from diversity 
"There was one more dimension to my internship. Snapdeal had interns from 15 different B-Schools in India and we all stayed together. This facilitated networking and knowledge sharing. I learned more about other B-Schools as well." 
 
You don't leave before a crazy and fun party 
"We interns had a super duper active WhatsApp group. You’re stuck with some problem, or just need a foosball partner, simply drop a text on WhatsApp group. Not to mention fun parties, Sunday shopping and late evening gossips. On our graduation day, we received an amazing party, heard straight from thwe founder Kunal Bahl, had good food, played kickass games, clicked a lot of pictures and bid goodbye to Snapdeal. 
 
She concluded saying - "The day I landed in Delhi, I had no clue what to expect but as I was leaving, I had a collection of memories and valuable lessons for a lifetime...."

Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR). </li><li>IITs — where students bagged job offers as high as ₹10 million from Uber — have not been notified of any such decision. </li><li>As many as 3,700 Uber employees lost their jobs in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.</li></ul>The COVID-19 crisis has not just impacted the salaried employees but also the new college graduates who landed job offers — who are now staring at an uncertain future. After Gartner, WorkIndia, ride-hailing platform Uber has revoked job offers extended to the management graduates at premier b-schools like Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Management Development Institute (MDI) and S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR). This comes on the backdrop of global layoffs across the company offices. As many as 3,700 Uber employees lost their jobs in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. On May 13, the company told its employees that “today will be your last working day with Uber,” over a Zoom call, IANS reported. A placement head at a top B-school told ET Uber had informed the institute that offers were being revoked. “Students across <a href="https://m.economictimes.com/topic/IIM">IIM</a> Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Calcutta, MDI, SPJIMR have been affected,” ET reported citing the placement head from a top b-school. Several companies have rescinded job offers made to the fresh graduates.That leaves students of premier IIMs and other b-schools that secured thousands of offers, in dire straits. It does not help that most of them bagged ‘above-average salary packages’ this placement season. Most of the recruits were top-notch consulting firms, multinational companies, tech majors and more. Lately, the IIMs have been dealing with last minute withdrawals from these high profile recruiters. IIM Bangalore earlier said that it will now reach out to those recruiters who had shown interest in hiring from the top institute earlier but were not a part of the placement drive — to check if they are still willing to hire candidates. At IIM Calcutta, nearly four companies have revoked the job offers and summer internships so far, affecting over 12 students from the current academic year. On the other hand, IITs — where students bagged job offers as high as ₹10 million from Uber — have not been notified of any such decision. The engineering institutions are now considering hosting another placement drive in July-August as the number of offers being taken back have risen. A US-based consultancy firm recently repealed 11 job offers made to students at IIT Delhi, Madras and Kanpur campuses. The situation, the institutes are now figuring out ways to place the students whose offers have been revoked in other companies. They are even reaching out to their alumni network to place students in the less affected sectors. Uber has revoked job offers made to graduates from IIMs, MDI, SPJIMR

This will be the first time that Kotak is hiring from engineering colleges, thanks to the advent of digital technologies. The private bank will hire nearly 2,600 freshers this year, Pasricha <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/kotak-mahindra-axis-bank-to-recruit-5000-fresh-grads/articleshow/72340847.cms?from=mdr">told </a>ET. This includes jobs across departments — services, operations and frontline acquisition. On the other hand, Axis Bank will hire 2,300 freshers — including campus hires from B-schools and IITs. It will also hire from National Institute of Design for the very first time. While IT and analytics remain the most sought-after job role, “this year, we have also focused on hiring in risk, compliance and cybersecurity roles,” <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/kotak-mahindra-axis-bank-to-recruit-5000-fresh-grads/articleshow/72340847.cms?from=mdr">said</a> Rajkamal Vempati, HR head, Axis Bank. This financial year, the largest public sector bank <keyword id="6354731" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-bank-of-india">State Bank of India</keyword> (SBI) hired nearly 11,000 employees so far. This includes jobs in retail banking, IT, corporate and international banking and wealth management. “There has been continuous disruption in the financial services sector, mainly due to digitalization. SBI, Kotak Mahindra and Axis Bank are going digital — hiring for AI, analytics and other tech profiles

MUMBAI: Flush with funds and hungry for growth, a bunch of startups is gearing up to stake claim on talent at India’s top campuses. 
 
As placements unfold over the next few months at the IITs, IIMs and other institutes, these startups look on track to give traditional heavyweights a run for their money in the battle for talent. 
 
Ten startups that ET spoke to are collectively looking to hire more than 850 graduates across leading business schools, engineering colleges and graduate schools this fiscal. 
 From established names such as <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, TaxiForSure and <keyword id="1006428" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Olacabs">Olacabs</keyword> to campus newbies like Vizury and <keyword id="2463175" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="CodeNation">CodeNation</keyword>, almost all are hiring in greater numbers than before, armed with attractive pay packages and the promise of greater responsibilities and faster growth for potential hires. 
 
Barely six months after being registered as a company, enterprise software developer CodeNation is already one of the most coveted recruiters at engineering campuses such as National Institutes of Technology (NITs), offering salaries of Rs 24 lakh. One of the last to go to the campuses last season, it hired 12 engineering graduates in March 2014. 
 
This time, it plans to net the best early on from the IITs, NITs, IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), DTU (Delhi Technological University) and PESIT (PES Institute of Technology). "We went to campuses very late (last time), but do not want to do the same this time. We plan to hire 50 students from the best colleges," said Anuja Sivaram, head of operations at CodeNation. 
 Another relatively new name is Bangalore-based big data analytics startup Vizury. Last year, it went to two <keyword id="2470783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="BITS-Pilani-University">BITS Pilani University</keyword> campuses with seven offers. The startup, which in June saw a third round of <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword> totaling $16 million from new and existing investors, is planning to recruit more this year. "We plan to hire 25-30 engineers from IITs, BITS Pilani University, NITs and IIIT campuses for our product engineering team. Students will be working on cuttingedge analytics and advertising technology platforms," said Subra Krishnan, vice-president in charge of products. 
 
Taxi-service startup Olacabs, fresh after raising Rs 250 crore last month, is on an expansion mode. 
 
To drive its growth plans, the company is in the market for 100 new hires from IITs and IIMs, compared with 40 it recruited last year, said co-founder and Chief Executive Bhavish Aggarwal. 
 
Rival TaxiForSure, on its part, is heading to engineering campuses for the first time this year. Until now the company hired engineers laterally. "We will head to IIT-Madras and IIT-Bombay for the first time. Now we have five engineering managers who can train the new recruits and therefore there is sufficient leadership to hire from engineering campuses," said human resources head TN Hari. 
 While it hasn’t decided on the number of engineering students to be recruited, the startup will hire 25 from IIMs in Bangalore, <keyword id="6354925" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kolkata">Kolkata</keyword>, Ahmedabad and Lucknow as well as the <keyword id="6357275" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-School-of-Business">Indian School of Business</keyword>. 
 Online retailer Flipkart, last year’s biggest <keyword id="41007" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="recruiter">recruiter</keyword> in the startup space, declined to share numbers for this year but is expected to at least match last year’s hiring tally. 
The Bangalore-based company, which made an entry into the ET Top Recruiters at B-schools survey for the first time this year, hired more than 275 students from across campuses, including 90 management trainees, 115 graduate trainees and 70 software development engineers last season.

TaxiForSure, for instance, will be offering packages ofRs 8-10 lakh at IITs. At IIMs, salaries will range between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, compared with Rs 12-18 lakh last year. 
 Mobile marketing and communications startup <keyword id="416397" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ZipDial">ZipDial</keyword>, which intends to hire around 20 students this year, says while its fixed salaries may be slightly lower than market rates, top performers stand to make much more in terms of variable bonuses and employee equity grants. LimeRoad.com, which operates an online shopping platform for women, will offer employee stock option programmes. 
 Restaurant-guide startup <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> is offering around Rs 15 lakh a year while property listings portal <keyword id="1960231" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Housing-com">Housing.com</keyword> will be shelling out anywhere between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 18 lakh. 
 Mumbai-based Housing.com, which raised Rs 115 crore in a new round of funding in June, was in fact, a <keyword id="2470782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="first-day-recruiter">first-day recruiter</keyword> at <keyword id="2470784" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="IITKharagpur">IITKharagpur</keyword> placement rounds last December, sharing space with the likes of <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> and <keyword id="43340" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oracle">Oracle</keyword>. 
 
This year, as well, several startups are likely to be among the first and second day recruiters at prestigious campuses, a privilege usually reserved for big-ticket recruiters. 
 
"The culture of entrepreneurship that startups provide, the growth opportunities and the challenging work environment are all very attractive to a number of students," said Punj Rajan, a student placement committee member at IIT-Kharagpur. "They actually want several startups to be among the companies slotted in the first few days of placements." Rajan had interned with Jabong.com during summer. Even B-schools are ready to make extra efforts to attract more startups. 
 
IIM-Bangalore last year organised a separate day for startups to come and hire from the executive MBA batch. "Startups often offer senior positions and if they need more time and rounds, we are ready to stretch for them. In the near future, we may have separate startup fairs for our flagship PGP batch too," said Sapna Agarwal, head of career development services at IIM-Bangalore. 
 
Not surprisingly, Advitiya Sharma, co-founder of Housing.com, says he has been flooded by invitations from top colleges. His plans are not firmed up as yet, but he intends to hire around 25 people from IITs and a similar number from IIMs across software, analytics, operations and tech roles. 
 
Another startup, Wooqer, has already made three pre-placement offers at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. It plans to hire 25 students across IITs and a couple of NITs, and intends to reach out to IIM-Indore, IIM-Bangalore, SP Jain Institute of Management &amp; Research and NMIMS soon. 
 
Salaries will range from Rs 13 lakh toRs 17 lakh. Other institutes including graduate and design schools are also being targeted by these startups. 
 
Upasana Nath, chief recruitment officer at Zomato, said besides the 40 students it will be hiring from engineering colleges like the IITs and senior leadership profiles from IIMs and ISB, it will be taking on board 200 for front line sales and content operations from graduate colleges in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Suchi Mukherjee, CEO &amp; co-founder of LimeRoad.com, said the startup intends to get 30-50 people from campuses alone. IITs in Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai and Chennai will be the focus for technology and IIMs in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata for product managers, marketing and category managers.
