The premier technological education institutes, <keyword id="55119" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Technology">Indian Institute of Technology</keyword> (IIT) is going international. No not by expanding the campuses but inviting foreign nationals to be a part of the programmes. As planned, IITs will be holding entrance examinations outside India and there would be a 10% additional seats to accommodate foreign students. 
 
"Foreign candidates will have to qualify the JEE advanced examination for an IIT seat. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for entry to MTech courses will be held in these six countries as well," an official informed the Economic Times. Foreign candidates, however, will not have to take the JEE main examination. 
 
The official clarified that the there would be no decrease in the number of the seats for Indian students. "The 10% intake is in addition to the existing seats available in each of the 23 IITs,” he added. 
 Also, 20,000 more candidates will be eligible to write the exam after clearing JEE main, thus taking the total number to 2,20,000. The examination will be held in six countries outside India - Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE, Nepal and <keyword id="6356662" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Singapore">Singapore</keyword>. The number of foreign students can't exceed 10% of the total seats in each course offered by the IITs and ISM-Dhanbad, as per the news report on the ET. There is no quota in this category. Also the cut-off for the aggregate marks in Class XII for SC and ST candidates has been reduced from 70% to 65% in JEE advanced 2017. 
 
Increase in fees Candidates who register for entrance exams after due date would be allowed to fill up the forms after paying a late fee of Rs 500. There has been an increase in registration fee from Rs 1,200 from Rs 1,000 for girls and reserved category students and to Rs 2,400 from Rs 2,000 for others. Students coming from <keyword id="8470" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="SAARC">SAARC</keyword> countries will need to pay $135 (Rs 9000) and those from the other countries would pay $270 (Rs 18000).

Now foreign students can enrol

With a score of 314 marks out of 360, R.K. Shishir from Bombay zone has secured the first rank in the <keyword id="6354859" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="iit" source="Orion">IIT</keyword> entrance examination JEE-Advanced, the results of which were declared on Sunday. R.K. Shishir is the topper among the students whose names are included in the list of top 10 in JEE-Advanced exam. <keyword id="14954873" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="polu-lakshmi-sai" source="Orion">Polu Lakshmi Sai</keyword> came at number two, <keyword id="14954874" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="thomas-biju" source="Orion">Thomas Biju</keyword> at number three, <keyword id="14954872" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vangapalli-sai-siddharth" source="Orion">Vangapalli Sai Siddharth</keyword> at number four and Mayank Motwani of IIT Delhi zone came at number five. <keyword id="14954875" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="polishetty-kartikeya" source="Orion">Polishetty Kartikeya</keyword> is at 6th position, Prateek Sahu is 7th, Dheeraj Kurukunda is 8th in All India Rank, Mahit is at 9th position and Vetcha Gnana Mahesh has secured 10th position. Among the girls, Tanishka Kabra of IIT Delhi Zone bagged the top rank, while in common rank list she is at 16th place. Tanishka secured 277 marks out of 360 in JEE-Advanced exam. 40,712 candidates qualified this year out of a total of 1,55,538 who appeared in both Paper 1 and 2 of JEE-Advanced 2022. Based on the results, the admission process will now begin in 23 IITs across the country. Of the total 40,712 candidates who have qualified the JEE-Advanced exam, 6516 are girl students. In the case of foreign students, 296 foreign girl students had registered themselves for JEE-Advanced examinations. However, only foreign 280 students appeared and a 145 cracked the examination. JEE-Advanced exam was held on August 28. The test for the first paper of JEE-Advanced exam was held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the second paper was held from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. In order to prevent electronic malpractices in the JEE-Advanced examination, 'jammers' were installed at the centres. JEE-Advanced Results: RK Shishir of IIT Bombay  tops zone

At an age when most students are clueless about the career they want to pursue, 15-year-old Abhay Agrawal has cracked JEE Advance 2017 - one of India's toughest exam. With 2476 All India Rank, he has even secured a seat in <keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword>-BHU. Abhay has secured admission in mechanical engineering, but has not yet confirmed his seat and instead opted to `float' the given choice of institute as he wants to study at IIT Roorkee. He jumped initial classes and completed Class 12 before his contemporaries at school. "My parents got me enrolled at a coaching class in the city. Some people discouraged me but that motivated me to study harder," said Abhay. Unlike his classmates, he stayed away from social media and other distractions while preparing for the competition. He comes from a modest family. His father Mukesh works as a pump attendant at Firozabad Nagar Nigam, and his mother, Ekta, is a Class 12 passout. His father said, "Abhay has brought us laurels at an early age. When the chief medical officer in Firozabad had to prepare his medical certificate, he was surprised. At IIT Kanpur also, JEE staff was amazed to know he was this young. He is a talented boy with high capabilities. He would finish BTech also in the stipulated time." Meanwhile, on his feat, a JEE staffer said, "He could be the youngest candidate this year to join an IIT. His class 10 mark sheet confirms that he is fifteen and a half year old. He was born on November 9, 2001.” In class 12 exams Abhay had scored 87.2 percent from CBSE Board and scored 85.63 percent in class 10 from UP Board. Unlike his classmates, he stayed away from social media and other distractions while preparing for the competition. He aspires to own a startup that will deal in products related to robotics.

Meet 15-year-old Abhay Agarwal who is one of the youngest students to enter IIT

<keyword id="4373262" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="prudhvi-tej-immadi">Prudhvi Tej Immadi</keyword> was the <keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword> JEE topper six years ago. A native of Dwaraka Tirumala in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Prudhvi secured an international job offer at <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> in South Korea even before 2014 placements started. 
 He won silver medal in International Physics Olympiad and also won <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Scholarship at IIT Bombay in the same year. 
 
He says he didn't follow any particular plan to emerge as the topper of one of India's toughest exam. He followed an integrated curriculum for Physics, Chemistry and Maths from Class 11 and spent 6 hours in coaching class everyday – 2 hours each for Physics, Chemistry and Maths. He dedicated another 6 hours at home for practice. Once a month, he would take a full-length 3-hour mock test. Having completed his syllabus in August during Class 12, he discontinued coaching classes and studied for 9 hours at home for revision and practice. Immadi also increased his frequency of taking mock tests from once a month to once every week. He took as many as 30 mock tests to track his preparation level. 
 
 
Well prepared, he didn't feel anxious while appearing for the exam. Here's his tips to everyone else appearing for competitive exams on how to beat anxiety and fear: 
 
MOTIVATION is key 
 
Coaching classes may teach you how to do things, but there is one thing that none else can teach you - Why do you want to clear JEE or get in one of the best engineering colleges of the country? If you have a clear answer for this, you will always be charged and there will be no setbacks that can stop you from trying harder and harder till you get it. It’s that same WHY that will ignite the fire in you. For someone it can be his/her parent’s dream, while for others it can be the brand IIT. It can be anything. So, try finding your reason and it will be your motivating factor. 
 
Concentrate on your studies, don't worry about what others do 
 
Once you have your reason, an effective planning will always help you stand out in the crowd. There are lakhs of students studying day in and day out to achieve the same dream. This fact might scare you, but I will show you a different angle which helped me. I had developed a mentality that I would solve as many questions as I could and try to score maximum marks. I never bothered how many students I was competing with and I gave my exams with peace of mind. As na result, I did not make any silly mistakes in nervousness and achieved what I deserved. 
 
No need to rush into solving the paper 
 
Many of my friends had the habit to start writing the paper from the first question as soon as they received it. My advice to you is to take a few minutes to have a thorough look at the paper and pick up easy questions first. Presence of mind is very important and smart work pays more than hard work. 
 
Every topic is important 
 
There often exists a question - what topics you should work hard on? Well it’s JEE and so the entire course matters. I had a very strong hold on my favorite topics and practiced them so well that I answered almost all the questions in JEE. Your favorite topics are the ones that will set your score high. Practice them to perfection. But don’t give up on other topics. Everything is important and you never know what will come up in JEE. So your devotion of time to to all subjects is important. Give adequate time to all of them. Plan your schedule effectively. Note down your daily activities and analyze them. This way you will also come to know the number of hours per day you are dedicating to your preparation. Noting down your daily activity will give you a proper insight into your activities and will help you in improving step-by-step every day.

An IIT-JEE Rank 1 holder shares how he topped the exam which is every engineering aspirant's dream and nightmare both

The entrance tests to the IITs abroad have been held till now only to admit Indian nationals. However, for the first time, it has been planned to admit foreign students through tests held abroad. 
 
Exam centres will soon be set up in six countries including three SAARC nations - Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal) and Singapore. 
 
But, it seems the premier institutes recognised world over for its par excellence education, are going a bit too far in their bid to go global. 
They are offering unfair advantages to foreign candidates. 
 
Foreign students applying from the six countries will be able to directly appear for JEE (advanced) exam if they have secured at least 75 per cent aggregate marks in class 12 (or equivalent) Board Examination. Based on their performance in the exam, the students can select IITs for undergraduate courses. 
 
For Indians, however, to qualify for the admission in the IITs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, it's compulsory to have scored at least 75% marks in Class 12th examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. Moreover, JEE (Main) is a mandatory eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs. 
 Laying out the application procedure for <keyword id="105019" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-nationals">foreign nationals</keyword>, the <keyword id="405083" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Joint-Admission-Board">IIT Joint Admission Board</keyword> said - “They are required to upload the birth certificate, class 12 marksheet and certificate for 75 per cent cut-off, identity proof of the candidate, citizenship certificate and passport of both the parents." For B.Arch programme, successful candidates are required to come to one of the zonal IITs to write the test. 
 
Notably, seats available to foreign nationals would be in addition to the existing seats at IITs and will not result in the reduction of seats available to Indian students. Even though these seats will not exceed 10 per cent of the total seats in each course offered by the IITs, qualifying foreign students direct entry into JEE (Advanced) is going to make their way into IITs way easier than their Indian counterparts.

<keyword id="2262976" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="HRD-Minister-Smriti-Irani">HRD Minister Smriti Irani</keyword> has cleared a proposal to allow foreign students to take entrance examinations to enrol in IITs. 
 
Aspirants will take Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) at the bachelor's level and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) at the master's and PhD levels. 
 
Irani, who is also chairperson of the IIT Council, has asked IITs to bring a proposal before the panel for approval. 
 
The ministry wants to add 10,000 seats in 18 IITs to attract students from South Asia, Africa and West Asia. 
 
To get admission, foreign students will have to pay full fees of Rs 4-5 lakh per year. Indian students pay Rs 90,000 per year as fee. 
 
The onus to prepare JEE and GATE exams in countries abroad is on IIT-Bombay director Professor Devang V Khakhar. 
 
Until now, foreign students could study in IITs through cultural exchange fellowship. 
 
Also, this doesn’t mean that Indians will not get the preference as the number of seats for Indian students will not be changed. 
 Meanhwhile, <keyword id="61708" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT Bombay</keyword> will identify countries as well as the institutes for conducting GATE and JEE 2016.

IITs open doors for foreign students, allows them to take entrance exams

Delhi boy <keyword id="3439623" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deepanshu-Jindal">Deepanshu Jindal</keyword>, the topper of the prestigious <keyword id="1665948" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-JEE-Main">IIT-JEE Main</keyword> this year, says he wants to pursue higher education after graduation from IIT Delhi, and ultimately become an entrepreneur. 
 
"I want to pursue Computer Science Engineering from IIT Delhi. I am quite interested in Research and Development and would want to do entrepreneurship in R&amp;D," says Jindal. 
 
A student of SB Public School in the national capital, this lad took his<a href="http://www.pagalguy.com/articles/jee-main-2016-topper-deepanshu-jindal-chooses-iit-delhi-over-44532308"> IIT Coaching from Narayana IIT Academy</a>. 
 
You may be thinking he must have not taken his eyes of books, but Jindal says that's not been the case with him. He is a keen sports fan who plays cricket and football regularly to take the much-needed break from his hectic schedule. Apart from sports, Jindal also likes social networking and is quite active on Facebook, Google+ and WhatsApp. 
 He has secured 111 in Physics, 110 in Maths and 100 in chemistry in JEE Main, and 98.6% in Class 12 CBSE because of which his rank jumped from 20 to 1 after the normalisation process. Meanwhile, Pratyush Maini from Gurgaon has secured the second position, and <keyword id="1033212" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajesh-Bansal">Rajesh Bansal</keyword> of <keyword id="195874" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sanskriti-School">Sanskriti School</keyword> stood third. 
 
The rank List, uploaded at <a href="http://jeemain.nic.in/webinfo/Public/Home.aspx">http://jeemain.nic.in/webinfo/Public/Home.aspx</a> shows that boys have dominated the list of toppers. Of the top 1,000 positions, 853 have been secured by boys and 147 by girls. Ryali Gayathri from Telangana has emerged on the top among girls, securing the 11th rank. 
 The <keyword id="3439624" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="All-India-Rankings">All India Rankings</keyword> are based on their JEE Main score (60 per cent weightage) and Class 12 scores (40 per cent weightage). Admissions to BE and B Tech courses in engineering institutions like NITs, IIITs are made on the basis of these rankings. 
 
Meanwhile, in another significant move for admission to the IITs - for which scores in IIT (Advanced) exam is the basis, the first list of allocation of seats for IITs will be released on July 1. 
 
Among boards, CBSE students have done well, getting 12 of the top 20 ranks. States boards like Telangana (6 of the top 20 positions), Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra too find students among toppers. 
 Around 11.28 lakh students had appeared for the <keyword id="75235" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-JEE">IIT JEE</keyword> Main exam, officials said, adding, results were announced a week in advance as compared to last year.
