As mentioned already, the lowest salary offers during the 2023-2024 placements fell within the Rs 4 LPA to Rs 6 LPA range this year. Earlier, the lowest salary offered to students used to be 6 LPA. As per reports, 10 students accepted offers that fell within this range. These figures are more common in sectors such as education and design, where entry-level salaries tend to be modest compared to other fields. <h2>IIT Bombay 2024 placements: Number of students who got jobs </h2>Out of the 2,414 students who registered for placements, 1,475 students secured job offers, bringing the placement rate to 74.53%. The placement drive saw participation from 364 companies, with 1,650 job offers being made. In addition to full-time roles, internships also played a crucial part in student preparation and employment. These offers were largely made after the completion of summer internships, highlighting the importance of these internships in securing full-time positions. <h2>Comparison of the number of students placed in the last four years</h2>IIT Bombay has seen lesser student placement numbers over when compared to last year. However, when we look at the last four years, the numbers have been stable. In the 2020-2021 season, 1,150 students were placed, which rose to 1,441 in 2021-2022. The peak was reached in 2022-2023 with 1,516 placements, while this year saw a slight decrease to 1,475. The B.Tech program led the way with 683 placements, followed by the M.Tech program with 415 placements. In the rankings, released in London recently, IIT Bombay was evaluated as India's top higher education institution for its excellence in employability, social concern, and environment. IIT Bombay was featured in the 281-300 rank range, followed by IIT Delhi (321-340 rank) and <keyword id="58265" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jawaharlal-nehru-university" source="Orion">Jawaharlal Nehru University</keyword> (JNU) at the third rank (361-380). According to a survey done by the entrepreneurship cell of <keyword id="61708" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT Bombay</keyword>, it is one of the institutes in India which has seen the evolution of start-ups from campus. The survey found that in terms of stage of products, start-ups at IIT-Bombay saw a jump from 33 per cent in 2015 to 39 per cent in 2017 among the prototypes, beta and full-fledged versions. In terms of resources required by start-ups, the shift has been towards mentoring, marketing, acceleration and networking. The study also cited how IIT-Bombay start-ups have moved away from services which formed 39 per cent in 2015 to technology which now forms 50 per cent of all start-ups from the premier institute this year. Followed by technology, agriculture and product and graphic design start-ups form 15 per cent each of the total sectoral break-up. One of the major challenges that IIT Bombay startups have faces is <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">Funding</keyword>, as is the case with startups across the country. The study reveals that as against 16 per cent start-ups bagging funding in 2015 which grew to 29 per cent in 2016, the same fell to 25 per cent in 2017. Among other challenges being faced by start-ups at IIT-Bombay, technical problems have taken a lead in 2017 over the past two years, followed by lack of co-working space, the requirement of a good team and networking. Interestingly, 11 out of 20 start-ups at IIT-Bombay won competitions of some form or the other, while three out of 11 reached finals of its own competition Eureka which goes on to speak volumes about the fact that students get the business model right at least in its nascent stage.

With the return of the 11th edition of IIT <keyword id="107737" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Entrepreneurship">Entrepreneurship</keyword> Summit at <keyword id="61708" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT Bombay</keyword>, 10 shortlisted startups will be seen battling it out for Rs 15 lakh on-spot funding and mentorship during what is called the ‘The Ten Minute Million’. 
 
IIT Bombay is conducting ‘The Ten Minute Million’ event on 28 – 29 January where chosen startups will pitch for 10 minutes in front of the investor panel and the winner will leave with Rs 15 lakh and mentorship from esteemed investors. 
 
One of the successful startups, Strike had won the amount and then scaled up more than 10 times within a year, according to E-Summit. 
 
The past Investor panel consisted of angel investors like Ajeet Khurana, Anupam Mittal, Samir Shah, Sanjay Mehta and Aniruddh Malpani. The theme for IIT Bombay's E-Summit this year is ‘A Tryst with Tomorrow’. Speakers and participants from numerous countries and genres will be attending the event. 
 "Our idea was that, you take 10 months, we believe it can be done in 10 minutes. I would have been happy even if I had got a fraction of the response. The recently released rankings unveiled the top 75 institutes in India for higher education. The first position was given to IIT-Bombay followed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. Among the top 10 institutions are seven IITs located in Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur and Kharagpur, IISc Bengaluru, University of Hyderabad and the University of Delhi. The <a href="https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/indian-institute-technology-bombay-iitb">overall scores given to IIT-Bombay was 48.5</a> which were derived from indicators like academic reputation (52.5), employer reputation (72.9), faculty-student numbers (43.3), citations per faculty (54.1), international students (4.1) and internal faculty (1.8). IIT-Bombay stands at 162nd position in QS’ global rankings. Jawaharlal Nehru University was excluded from the ranking as it focuses more on research. The QS India ranking is specially designed to reveal the positions of institutions focusing on graduation or post graduation. Surprisingly, The only private institute to make it to the top 20 list was Birla Institute of Science and Technology As per the report, twenty out of seventy-five <keyword id="5111110" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institution">Indian institution</keyword> have scored full marks for recruiting highly qualified staff with PhD degrees. Further, nine students scored 98.4 in paper per faculty, an indicator which assesses research productivity. Why specific rankings for India? QS India ranking is the second region-specific ranking by QS after China. The British organisation has recently decided to bring out country-specific rankings beginning with China, India, South Korea, Japan and Mexico. The region-specific rankings are a response to the increasing demand of information from within the nation rather than in the global context. India’s educational system has witnessed a massive change over the last decade. It is the third largest higher-education hub housing thousands of universities across the country. To celebrate the National Defence Day, <keyword id="61708" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT Bombay</keyword>’s National Service Scheme students have uploaded about 10 posters and dedicated to the <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> on their Facebook page. Acknowledging the contribution of the armed forces and thanking them for their service, they have also dedicated a poem called 'A Little More' to the army. 
 
The posters were also shared by the Indian Army’s Facebook page, saying, "We appreciate the gesture by the students of National Service Scheme, IIT Bombay for the series of posters made for the #ArmedForces." 
 
"The post on the Indian Army page received 32,000+ likes and over 3,000 shares," a student associated with the group told ET.

Not only this, IIT Bombay students have also set up a YouTube channel, called ‘Open Learning Initiative’ so that language does not become a barrier in education. 
 
The channel would feature educational videos that would be recorded by volunteers, mostly undergraduate students, in multiple regional languages. As of now, the channel has over 100 such videos on science and maths in seven Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Malayalam and Telugu.
