In India, there are 20 IIMs at present. In all of these institutions, the selection process consists of three stages. However, each of these IIMs follow an independent admission process. A good performance in the CAT examination is mandatory for admission to any IIM. However, the other factors considered for admission include academics, diversified interests, work experience and GD-PI-WAT performance of the candidate also play a decisive role in the admission. Here is an overview of the three stages of the admission process in IIM. Stage-1: CAT Performance Performing well in the CAT examination is the primary requisite to qualify for the IIM selection process. The candidate’s percentile score in the CAT examination will decide if he or she can hope to get into IIM at all. A high score in CAT examination is the first step of the selection process. The minimum requirement prescribed for admission to different IIMs range between 70 to 85 sectional percentile and 80 to 95 overall percentile. For example, IIM Ahmedabad needs 70 sectional and 80 overall percentile for admission while some new IIMs require 75 to 85 sectional percentile and 90 overall percentile. Thus the sectional and overall percentile requirement differs between different IIMs. Stage-2: IIM Shortlisting process Once the candidate has obtained the percentile score specified by the given IIM, the shortlisting process starts. Each of the IIMs has its own policy regarding the shortlisting in the second stage of admission process. The aspects considered for shortlisting include the CAT examination score, academics, diversity, and work experience besides some others. Stage-3: Final selection process The final selection process at the IIMs comprise of personal interview, an ability test (written) and Group Discussion (in some IIMs). Those candidates shortlisted are invited to attend the PI round in number of cities depending on the choice given by the candidate while applying for admission to the IIM during the CAT exam registration process. The PI-WAT round is given a higher weightage than the CAT score by the IIMs. The final selection of the candidate will also depend on the academic performance and diversity of the candidate. IIM Shillong and IIM Kozhikode conduct GD round on the basis of WAT. Each of the IIMs have their own independent policy of preparing the merit list considering the candidate’s performance in the final selection round, CAT scores, academic profile, diversity, work experience and gender diversity. Common Admission Process (CAP) in the new IIMs Around 10 IIMs in the country including IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy, Udaipur, Bodh Gaya, Jammu, Sambalpur, and Sirmaur adopt a common admission process. This common admission process is coordinated by IIM Ranchi. The two components of the CAP coordinated by the IIM Ranchi consist of WAT and PI. All the IIMs participating in the CAP will not conduct their own independent final admission round. Instead, they will take into account the scores of the candidates in the CAP along with the performance in other individual admission components to make the final admission offer.

As per reports, this year the number of applicants rose to 2, 32,434 compared to last year's 2,18,664, as per the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. The exam was conducted in 138 cities across the country and the duration of the exam was of three hours. IIM Bangalore was the convener of CAT 2016. 
 The CAT entrance test, thought to be one of the toughest exam, is a gateway to admissions in <keyword id="125199" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Managements">Indian Institute of Managements</keyword> and other Business schools in the country. So, for qualifying students eyeing admissions to the Top B-schools in India, here's everything about application that you may want to know: 
 
Admission procedure: 
These are the 20 IIMs which are operational right now - IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bangalore, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Nagpur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur and IIM Visakhapatnam. Amongst them, IIM Calcutta is the oldest one and IIM Jammu is the youngest one. 
 
All the candidates who successfully cleared the selection process will make their way to these 20 different IIM institutes on the basis of Written Ability Test, Group Discussion followed by Personal Interviews round. However, not every IIM follows the same procedure, it also varies from institute to institute. IIMs may additionally use other factors like previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. It is best for candidates to refer to the admission policies of IIMs from their respective websites.

Eligibility verification: 
If a candidate is shortlisted for interviews or selected for a program by any IIM, he/she must comply with the eligibility verification by presenting Marksheets, Degree Certificates and Certificates to prove the reservation/disability category, if there are any. 
 
The candidates in the Final Year of Graduation have to show an original certificate from the Principal/Registrar/Director of the university/institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PWD category) based on latest available grades/marks.

Raipur, Mar 3 () Chhattisgarh Chief MinisterBhupesh Baghel on Tuesday presented a Rs 95,650-crore budget,without any new tax proposals, for fiscal 2020-21 in theLegislative Assembly here.Among other things, he announced a new scheme, 'RajivGandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana', to provide good returns to farmersfor agricultural produce with a provision of Rs 5,100 crore. "With the spirit of 'Gadhbo Nava Chhattisgarh(building a new Chhattisgarh), the budget is primarily focusedon nutrition, betterment and extension of health services andproductive use of the youth's energy to develop them as apowerful resource," said Baghel, who holds finance portfolio.The budget also embodies the objective 'Sarve BhavantuSukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah' (Let everyone be happy andhealthy), he said. "The Central Government had given special exemption topurchase paddy at support price along with bonus distributionto the previous government. But this year the state could notget this exemption from the Centre," Baghel said. "Therefore, to ensure appropriate benefit to the'Annadata' (provider of food), the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NyayYojana will be launched," he said. The benefit of the schemewill also be extended retrospectively for 2019-20, he added. Under the 'Krishak Jeevan Jyoti Yojana', a provisionof Rs 2,300 crore has been made for free power supply toagri-pumps upto five Horse Power capacity, he said.As many as 1176 biogas plants would be set up underthe Gobar Dhan Yojana for which a provision of Rs 450 crorehas been made, he said.'Gurukul Vidyalaya' (residential school) will be setup in Giraudhpuri, the birthplace of spiritual leader BabaGuru Ghasidas, the chief minister announced.Laboratories for the Internet of Things and roboticswill be set up at three engineering colleges and fivepolytechnics in the state.Tuition fees of students from Chhattisgarh who make itto IITs, IIMs and All India Institutes of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) will be borne by the state government, and ongraduation they will be directly recruited in government andsemi-government institutions, Baghel said.To check cyber crime, cyber police stations will beestablished under the limits of every Inspector General ofPolice range. 'Shahid Smarak' (martyrs' memorial) will be built inNawa Raipur Atal Nagar in the memory of Congress leaders andsecurity personnel killed in the May 2013 Jhiram Valley naxalattack, Baghel announced.Overall, the budget for 2020-21 earmarks 38 per centfunds for the social sector, 40 percent for the economicsector and 22 percent for the general service sector, he said.Estimated gross expenditure for 2020-21 is Rs 1,02,907crore. The net expenditure, after deducting repayment of debtand recoveries, is estimated at Rs 95,650 crore. Revenue expenditure is estimated at 81,400 crore andcapital expenditure at 13,814 crore, 14.44 percent of thetotal expenditure, the CM said.Total revenue receipts for year 2020-21 are estimatedat Rs 83,831 crore.The state is estimated to have surplus revenue of Rs2,431 crore, as in previous years. Fiscal deficit (whichfactors in debt repayment liability) is estimated to be Rs11,518 crore, which is 3.18 percent of the state's estimatedgross domestic product (GDP) for 2020-21, little above theprescribed limit of 3 percent, Baghel said.Total receipts for 2020-21 are estimated Rs 96,091crore against estimated expenditure of Rs 95,650 crore.Budget deficit is estimated to be 3,522 crore by theend of 2020-21, including estimated budget deficit of Rs 3,963crore for 2019-20, he said.
