<ul><li>The highest job offer at the <keyword id="119622" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Foreign-Trade">Indian Institute of Foreign Trade</keyword> (<keyword id="6735361" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="iift">IIFT</keyword>) stood at a staggering ₹75 lakh per annum — one of the highest pay packets received so far across management institutes. </li><li>As many as 125 companies visited the campus and the average compensation stood at ₹20.48 lakh. </li><li>IIFT said that nearly 28% of its graduates received pre-placement offers.</li></ul>The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) beat Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Xaviers School of Management (XLRI) and Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi to bag the highest salary offer at ₹75 lakh per annum. The institute, which operates under the commerce ministry however saw only a marginal increase in average compensation to ₹20.5 lakh. As many as 125 companies visited the campus this year and over 40 first-time recruiters hired this year. This includes consulting and banking majors McKinsey &amp; Co, Reckitt Benckiser, RBL Bank and Axis Bank. “The largest ever batch of 2018-20 has been placed in various reputed organizations. The successful placement is a testament to the rigorous academic involvement and professional exposure IIFT provides to its students,” <a href="https://m.hindustantimes.com/brand-post/iift-final-placements-sees-the-record-of-recruiters-attending-the-campus/story-ERcqleK0GdUAc3eDZkqAoO_amp.html">said</a> Rohit Mehtani, head of corporate relations and placement division. The students received job offers from companies across sectors like consulting, banking and finance, sales, marketing and operations. The top recruiters include Goldman Sachs, Yes Bank, Dabur, TATA International among others. Offers from tech giants — Microsoft, Wipro, Cognizant and Capgemini — for IT and product management roles also continued to grow. The growing trend of summer placements and pre-placement offers too might have had an effect on the increased interest of recruiters. IIFT said that nearly 28% of its graduates received pre-placement offers. During the summer placements as well, the average stipend stood at a whopping ₹2 lakh a month. “The students at IIFT were placed across 96 companies. The highest stipend offered was ₹3.2 lakh per month. This year the number of companies with an average stipend of over ₹2 lakh has increased by 46%," IIFT <a href="https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/m.economictimes.com/jobs/iift-completes-summer-placements-average-stipend-at-rs-2-lakh-per-month/amp_articleshow/71634182.cms">said during its summer placements</a>. IIFT receives highest job offer at ₹75 lakh — that’s higher than XLRI, FMS and a few IIMs

The World Trade Organization (<keyword id="6357761" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="wto">WTO</keyword>) has recently passed a verdict against <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Digital-India-5-issues-that-PrimeMinister-Narendra-Modi-needs-to-address/articleshow/48957648.cms">India</a> in the county's solar panel dispute. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has said that it will appeal against the highest court of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-wto-members-seal-trillion-dollar-it-trade-deal-2015-7?IR=T">WTO</a>. 
 
The incident once again puts the limelight on the common perception that the WTO has been biased against developing nations such as India. 
“In this process, WTO has not succeeded as it should have. The Doha round did not conclude properly and hence there are a lot of issues with the reforms. The Bali round too failed. The WTO has not emerged as a stable global trade body," said Dr Surajit Mitra, director and vice-chancellor, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi. 
 
So how does WTO impact the common man here in India? Well, it’s simple. 
 
In 2012, India had formally filed a complaint against the high cost of US work visas at WTO. The issue was at the ‘consultation level’ but could not be resolved. And it still continues to be a major cause of concern between India and the US and has been taken up by the delegations of both countries ahead of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/7-incredible-things-that-we-can-imbibe-from-birthday-boy-Narendra-Modi/articleshow/48987595.cms">PM Modi’s</a> US visit. 
 “This has adversely impacted our IT professionals, doctors or any professional, who is offering a service. Its restricting the movement of our professionals across borders,” said Subhash Goyal, President of Indian Association of Tour Operators, who also heads the tourism committee in <keyword id="6355988" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Assocham">Assocham</keyword>. 
 
He explained that since India is primarily a services country, barriers such as high cost of work visas is hampering the growth of the services sector. “Whenever our people want to travel, they have to face a lot of visa problems in countries such as the US, UK and Germany among other developed nations.” The WTO, which aims at promoting multilateral trade ties and easing trade barriers for goods, unfortunately has failed when it came to services. 
 Similarly, the long stand-off between India and the developed nations including the US over <keyword id="1780134" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trade-Facilitation-Agreement">Trade Facilitation Agreement</keyword> also raised a serious question on the apex body’s bias against India. Members of WTO wanted India to remove subsidies on several products including food, which was staunchly opposed by the Indian government as it wanted to implement the Food Security Bill successfully. 
 
Now with the recent decision against India in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Solar-power-shows-the-way-to-clean-global-energy/articleshow/47499927.cms">solar panel</a> dispute, India’s efforts to boost its domestic solar equipment manufacturers has been hit hard as the aim was to promote green energy with foreign technology along with promoting local manufacturers. 
 
And trade experts in India fear that if this is how it goes, WTO may soon lose its control as countries would prefer bi-lateral trading over multilateral, ultimately defeating the the trade body’s purpose.

Transforming retail investing in India: Stocktwits collaborates with industry veteran Shankar Sharma

<ul><li>India’s ministry of commerce and industry has launched an online export awareness course to support future exporters. </li><li>The government also reportedly launched an app dedicated to update exporters on trade practices and share their grievances. </li><li>The online course is launched in collaboration with Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).</li></ul>In a bid to boost international trade opportunities for potential exporters in India, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/industry/sme/government-launches-online-course-app-to-support-potential-exporters/1490218/lite/">launched</a> an export awareness course. Once the course is complete, candidates will be awarded certificates in export-import management by the government under the ‘Niryat Bandhu Scheme’. The program titled, 'Anytime-Anywhere,’ is a reportedly a joint effort between the government and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). Commerce and industry minister, Suresh Prabhu reportedly said that the course is aimed at training, mentoring and supporting prospective exporters and traders in India. Stressing the need for spreading awareness on trade, commerce secretary Anup Wadhawan reportedly said the government has been able to stem decline in exports hurting the Indian market by facilitating trade combined with the growing technology and implementation of goods and services tax (GST). India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), responsible for fostering the exports sector, is also trying to make the export sector more digital-savvy. According to Director General, Alok Chaturvedi, the DGFT has <a href="https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/prabhu-launches-anytime-anywhere-export-awareness-course-to-hand-hold-exporters">reportedly</a> approved to rebuild its entire IT infrastructure to go paperless and attain end-to-end IT enablement. It has also launched a DGFT's mobile app dedicated to trade practices, for a smooth sailing of the process. Fancy a career in exports? Indian government is offering an export awareness course

This course has been a transformative experience," Prashant Sharma, an MBAEx alumnus told NDTV. Overall, it has been a good year for India’s B-school pass outs. IIM-C students see a dramatic jump in salaries after an MBA

The number of companies coming has more or less remained the same since last year, however the number of students that were made an offer to have increased,” Kanika K Ahuja, placement in-charge at LSR told ET. The students who get admission to these Delhi University-affiliated colleges have to score over 95% in the 12th grade — due to high cut-offs. Among the top recruiters were Gartner, EY, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, Samsung and Accenture. The highest offer stood at ₹18 lakh per annum. The average compensation at other DU colleges fluctuated between ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh per annum. While the overall average salaries in India went up by 45% for undergraduate students. This is despite the economic downturn in the country. The growing trend of summer placements The growing trend of summer placements and pre-placement offers too might have had an effect on the increased interest of recruiters. Companies like Deutsche Bank, Citi Bank are also banking on summer placements to assess talent, thereby extending pre-placement offers. Delhi University students bag job offers that pay as much as ₹31 lakh per annum

New Delhi, Apr 9 () Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) exporters will be impacted more by the current lockdown on account of COVID-19 pandemic as the sector accounts for over 45 per cent of the country's total outbound shipments, according to trade experts. They said the magnitude of the impact on MSME exporters can be gauged from the statement of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) which has projected that global trade in goods is set to decline steeply between 13 per cent and 32 per cent in 2020 as countries across the world are battling the pandemic. The sector also contributes about 25 per cent to the country's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) from service activities and over 33 per cent to the manufacturing output of India. Biswajit Dhar, a professor of economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, said the government should immediately come out with an incentive package for exporters as the current crisis will 'severely' hit the MSME sector. "India will suffer very badly and the biggest impact will be on the MSME exporters. They will also face issues in calling back their workers as several of them have migrated to their villages and towns," he said. He said several countries, including the US, Japan and Germany, have announced incentive packages, but India is yet to roll out support measures for exporters. "Incentives will help exporters to resume the work immediately after things start getting normal, otherwise they will not be able to restore their global buyers," Dhar added. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, professor at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), said the outbreak of COVID-19 has put economies across the world on a virtual standstill. "India's major export items such as petrochemicals, gems and jewellery, automobiles and auto components, cotton yarns and textiles, apparels, marine products, bovine meat among others are likely to receive a jolt primarily due to slump in demand in its major markets and disruption of supply chains which are integrated across countries," he said. When asked about numbers, he said estimating any drop seems unrealistic as it would largely depend upon the virus rather than government incentives "as to how long -- a quarter, six months, a year or still longer -- it takes to emerge out of the virus and the damage it inflicts on human health and lives". However, he added that the pandemic has opened up enormous opportunities in sectors such as pharmaceuticals wherein India had been the largest supplier of generic medicines which are highly competitive in European and American markets. Besides, Joshi said the coronavirus, that emanated from China, has transformed the outlook of multinationals manufacturing in China and they are actively scouting for alternative destinations for investment to either shift their manufacturing or make new investments. "This is the time India should transform this calamity into an unprecedented opportunity to make India the manufacturing hub and realize its 'Make in India' objective in real sense," he added. Assistant professor and expert on agriculture economics Chirala Shankar Rao said there is a need to give special focus to MSME exporters engaged in agri products as there is a surge in demand for food products in global markets due to coronavirus outbreak. Sharing similar views, Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) Chairman Mohit Singla said more than 100 per cent spike has been registered in demand for essential commodities such as rice, wheat and pulses during the current crisis. Global trade growth is expected to plummet by up to a third in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the WTO said on Wednesday while warning that the numbers would be 'ugly'. Besides, Joshi said the virus outbreak that emanated from China, has transformed the outlook of multinationals manufacturing in China and they are actively scouting for alternative destinations for investment to either to shift their manufacturing or making new investments. "This is the time India should transform this calamity into an unprecedented opportunity to make India the manufacturing hub and realise its make in India objective in real sense," he added.Assistant Professor and expert on agriculture economics Chirala Shankar Rao said there is a need to give special focus on MSME exporters who are engaged in agri products as there is a surge in demand for food products in global markets due to the coronavirus outbreak.Sharing similar views, Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) Chairman Mohit Singla said more than 100 per cent spike has been registered in demand for essential commodities such as rice, wheat and pulses in the current crisis. In India, we have engineers and MBAs in abundance. All thanks to numerous institutes in the country that students get the chance to pursue these professional courses at. 
 
However, all institutes don’t have great placement rates. Students of top institutes prove to be the luckiest. Take for instance the case of MDI, IIFT and other top <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=B-schools">B-schools</a>. This year, their students got placed in the first two days of the summer placement session; companies which came in later had to return bare-handed.

By noon on the third day, all our students had been placed. For the human resource programme, it was over on the first day itself. We had to send back the companies slotted over the next couple of days.” 
 
Not just at MDI, but other leading business institutes including Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, XLRI Jamshedpur and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Delhi were confident about business prospects. 
 
The sectors taking the lead so far were: investment banks,<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=+eCommerce+companies"> eCommerce companies</a> and consumer goods makers, who look forward to an augmentation as India retains its place of world’s fastest growing economy. 
 
This year placements were completed in a record time of 3-7 days. 
 "Most companies across sectors have hiked stipends," shared Rajul Mangal, placement committee member at IIM-Kozhikode. The percentage increase is observed somewhere between 20-50%. <keyword id="63460" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JP-Morgan">JP Morgan</keyword> Chase is paying Rs 5 lakh at XLRI Jamshedpur for a two-month internship. 
 Boston Consulting Group and Reckitt Benckiser are paying Rs 3 lakh each at IIM-Kozhikode and MDI Gurgaon. <keyword id="48670" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Morgan-Stanley">Morgan Stanley</keyword> is paying Rs 4 lakh at Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi while at IIFT, average stipends are up by 30% from last year. 
 Sources informed that <keyword id="6361649" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword> and American Express have also increased stipends to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh for two months. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages has raised it to Rs 1.5 lakh from Rs 75,000 and Tata Steel to Rs 1 lakh from Rs 50,000. 
 
L'Oreal is paying Rs 1.6 lakh, up from Rs 1.2 lakh, and Arvind Lifestyle is paying Rs 1 lakh versus Rs 70,000 last year. 
 The number of offers too have increased as Microsoft, RPG, American Express, JP Morgan Chase and <keyword id="6357341" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deutsche-Bank">Deutsche Bank</keyword> have all made 60-100% more offers at IIM-Kozhikode than previous year. 
 
With the highest recruit ever, Accenture Strategy hired 12 interns at FMS Delhi. 
 New recruiters on campuses included the Bill and <keyword id="131379" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Melinda-Gates">Melinda Gates</keyword> Foundation, Shell, Ola Cabs and Quikr at XLRI; <keyword id="270433" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anheuser-Busch-InBev">Anheuser-Busch InBev</keyword> and Dr Reddy's at FMS Delhi; Edelweiss and Glenmark Pharma at MDI; and Marico and GSK Consumer at IIFT. 
 Surprisingly, IIFT got 12 international offers for internships this year, up from eight last year. International recruiters included the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (<keyword id="6356984" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="OECD">OECD</keyword>).

Here’s where top management schools are sending their students this year

<ul><li>India’s management schools have this year breached the mark of average salaries for MBA graduates at ₹ 2 million. </li><li>Several non-IIMs including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and Xaviers School of Management have also been paying over ₹2 million average salaries. </li><li>University Business School (UBS), Punjab University (PU), recorded the highest package at ₹5.3 million this year. </li></ul>Beating the average salary packages offered in India, many top management schools in India have significantly scaled up the starting pay for students graduating in 2019. During the recent placement season, several B-schools — including Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode, <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/education/iit-bombay-placement-rs-32-4-lakh-top-package-for-mba-graduates-5554289/">Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)</a>, Bombay, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, Indian Institute of Foreign Technology (IIFT), Delhi and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) — reportedly offered packages of more than ₹2 million to MBA batches. The highest packages were reported at more than ₹3 million, compared to the average at nearly ₹2 million. According to a Campus Salary Hiring and Employment 2018 report by Mettl, the average salary for MBA graduates last year was recorded as ₹930,000 per annum, which has increased to more than a million this season. The trend clearly indicates business school graduates are now commanding better starting pay. As many as 55 companies breached the average salary mark for MDI this year, for instance, according to ET report. And not all are from the prestigious IIMs. In fact, the highest-paid graduates this year are reportedly from the University Business School (UBS), Punjab University, where the <a href="https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/chandigarh/ubs-touches-new-high-top-package-rs-53-lakh/711070.html">highest package</a> was recorded at ₹5.3 million this year. However, the average remuneration has been at ₹1.17 million for the 2018-19 batch. The average starting salaries for graduates of tier one colleges was recorded as ₹1.5 million, and tier two colleges at ₹534,000, annually, reports ET. The rise in pay may be because companies are now striving to hire quality talent with certain calibre and command, said Ketan Kapoor, Mettl. Startups, consulting firms and multinationals often chase the talent that they apparently find in premium business schools, he added. According to last year stats, the salary packages fetched by participating students crossed ₹2.4 million at the top three IIMs — Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Calcutta. However, several non-IIMs including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and Xaviers School of Management also have a track of over ₹2 million average salaries by recruiters. Highest paymaster Consulting firms have been paying the highest to the fresh graduates, ET reported citing a senior official at IIM. However, banking and financial services sector also topped the charts this year during placements. Airtel CMO Govind Rajan would be the new Chief Strategy Officer for Jasper Infotech (which owns <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>), the company announced today.
