New Delhi, Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) <keyword id="3504742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIFL-finance" source="Orion">IIFL Finance</keyword> has become the second largest gold loan provider surpassing Manappuram Finance. "The gold loan portfolio has crossed Rs 23,690 crore assets under management (AUM), surpassing Manappuram Finance at Rs 20,809 crore worth of gold loan AUM. "This has cemented <keyword id="82050" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIFL" source="Orion">IIFL</keyword> Finance's position as the second largest gold loan provider in India in terms of AUM," IIFL Finance head of Gold Loan Business Saurabh Kumar, said. The market leader in gold loans is Muthoot Finance with an AUM of Rs 66,089 crore, as of September 2023. Kumar said, "the company has about 18.6 lakh customers and over 70 per cent of our customers are repeat customers helped by customer centric approaches like repayment grace period, no foreclosure charges, transparency in dealings and proactive customer need identification." The company expects a 25-27 per cent increase in gold loan in FY'24, he said. IIFL Finances provides gold loans through 1,486 towns and rural areas across 25 states and 4 Union Territories to salaried, self-employed and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) customer segments. Besides, gold loan, IIFL Finance offers affordable home loan, microfinance loans and business loans and has a consolidated AUM of Rs 73,066 crore.

IIFL Finance emerges as second largest gold loan NBFC

New Delhi [India], March 13 (ANI): The <keyword id="19908390" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-finance" source="keywords">Ministry of Finance</keyword> has written to public sector banks to reassess their gold loan procedures amid concerns over risky debt as gold prices surge, according to a senior government official. This comes against the backdrop of a rise in gold loans year-on-year basis. Gold loans surged by 17 per cent mirroring the 16.6 per cent increase in gold prices and loans against gold jewellery reached Rs 1.01 lakh crore as of January 26. The <keyword id="20135629" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="department-of-financial-services" source="keywords">Department of Financial Services</keyword> (DFS), a division of the <keyword id="19900485" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="finance-ministry" source="keywords">Finance Ministry</keyword> has instructed all state-run banks last month to scrutinize their gold loan accounts granted after January 1, 2022. Speaking to on Tuesday, <keyword id="19916616" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vivek-joshi" source="keywords">Vivek Joshi</keyword>, Secretary, Department of Financial Services said, "We have written to banks to scrutinise every gold loan account." As gold prices continue their upward trajectory, the valuation of gold assets tied to loans is undergoing a significant recalibration. All India Gem and <keyword id="20035996" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jewellery-domestic-council" source="keywords">Jewellery Domestic Council</keyword> (GJC) anticipate that gold prices likely reach a historic peak of Rs 70,000 per 10 grams in the coming year amid ongoing global economic uncertainties and geopolitical tensions will drive. On March 4, the <keyword id="19899810" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="keywords">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> barred IIFL FInance from offering, securitising or assigning any gold loans. RBI said in its recent audit it found gold loan-to-value ratio deviation in 67 per cent of the gold loan account at IIFL Finance. Explaining the action, the central bank said an inspection of the company was carried out by the RBI with reference to its financial position as of March 31, 2023, which raised concerns about the oversight of the company's gold loan portfolio. Public sector banks asked to reassess gold loan process amid debt risk concerns

New Delhi, Indian-Canadian billionaire Prem Watsa-backed <keyword id="20847043" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fairfax-india" source="keywords">Fairfax India</keyword> on Wednesday announced its commitment to provide up to USD 200 million (about Rs 1,650 crore) liquidity support to IIFL Finance after the <keyword id="19899810" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="keywords">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> barred the non-bank lender to disburse gold loans. The RBI's embargo has raised liquidity concerns among the company's investors and lenders, Fairfax India Holdings Corporation said in a statement. In response to these concerns, Fairfax India has agreed to extend up to USD 200 million of liquidity support on terms to be mutually agreed and subject to applicable laws, including regulatory approvals (if any), it added. "We have been long-term investors in the IIFL group of companies and have full trust and confidence in the company's strong management team led by Nirmal Jain and R Venkataraman. We are confident that Nirmal and Venkat will take corrective actions to meet and exceed RBI's compliance standards," said Fairfax India chairman <keyword id="20146567" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="prem-watsa" source="keywords">Prem Watsa</keyword>. Commenting on the development, IIFL Finance Managing Director Nirmal Jain said at this crucial juncture, Fairfax India's and Prem's generous offer to provide liquidity support is very timely and motivating. "We are committed to complying fully with RBI's directives and growing the business under the regulator's guidance on the strong foundation of compliance, risk management, and fair practices," Jain said. Earlier this week, the <keyword id="19922074" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank" source="keywords">Reserve Bank</keyword> barred <keyword id="20849308" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iifl-finance-ltd" source="keywords">IIFL Finance Ltd</keyword> from disbursing gold loans, with immediate effect following multiple supervisory concerns, including serious deviations in assaying and certifying the purity of the yellow metal. IIFL Finance offers a range of loans and mortgages. The latest directions from the RBI pertain to only the gold loan business. The RBI in a statement had said certain material supervisory concerns were observed in the gold loan portfolio of the company. The concerns include serious deviations in assaying and certifying purity and net weight of the gold at the time of sanction of loans and at the time of auction upon default; breaches in loan-to-value ratio; significant disbursal and collection of the loan amount in cash far in excess of the statutory limit; non-adherence to the standard auction process; and lack of transparency in charges being levied to customer accounts.

Prem Watsa-backed Fairfax India commits up to $200 mn to IIFL Finance

New Delhi, Shares of IIFL Finance Ltd bounced back on Thursday and climbed nearly 10 per cent after tumbling in the past two trading days. The stock jumped 9.82 per cent to settle at Rs 420.40 apiece on the BSE. During the day, it soared 9.99 per cent to Rs 421.05 -- its upper circuit limit. On the NSE, it climbed 9.35 per cent to Rs 417.95 per piece. Shares of IIFL Finance Ltd had declined for the second day in a row on Wednesday post the <keyword id="19922074" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank" source="keywords">Reserve Bank</keyword>'s action against the company. On Wednesday and Tuesday, the stock tanked 20 per cent each. In a statement on Monday, the RBI said it has directed IIFL Finance Ltd "to cease and desist, with immediate effect, from sanctioning or disbursing gold loans or assigning/ securitising/ selling any of its gold loans". The company can, however, continue to service its existing gold loan portfolio through the usual collection and recovery processes, it added. New Delhi, Jan 28 () India Infoline Finance Ltd on Tuesday reported a 78 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 193 crore for December quarter of 2019-20.
 The company had registered a net profit of Rs 108.4 crore in the year ago period.
 Income during October-December period of 2019-20, was down by 2 per cent to Rs 582.60 crore, as against Rs 593.40 crore a year ago, IIFL said in a release.
 India Infoline Finance had loan assets under management of Rs 36,015 crore as on December 31, 2019, with home loans segment constituting 34 per cent, business loans 23 per cent, gold 21 per cent and microfinance 8 per cent of the total AUM, it said.
 "Although economic growth and macro headline numbers are yet to show a perceptible improvement, credit demand and liquidity show green shoots," IIFL Finance Chairman Nirmal Jain said.
 In the quarter ended December 31, 2019, there was a marked uptick in credit growth as well as long term borrowings, Jain said.
 Company's gross non-performing assets (NPAs) stood at 2.27 per cent and net NPA at 0.98 per cent as on December 31, 2019.

IIFL Finance Q3 net jumps 78 pc to Rs 193 cr

The company intends to raise as much as ₹1,092 crore via the IPO. The issue comprises a fresh issue aggregating up to ₹600 crore and an offer for sale by promoter Federal Bank, and selling shareholder of True North Fund VI LLP I. The Reserve Bank's circular increasing the risk weights on unsecured lending will increase the borrowing costs, but the negative market sentiment will not impact the offering, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Anil Kothuri told reporters at its IPO press conference. The Series F2 round was led by Singapore-based Amansa Capital, along with Kotak PE and Axis Growth Avenues AIF - I. Zerodha’s founders Nithin and <keyword id="968035" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nikhil-kamath" source="Orion">Nikhil Kamath</keyword>, BoAt’s cofounder Aman Gupta and True North’s partner Haresh Chawla also participated in the round. Avendus acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Licious for the transaction. Though the company has not revealed its valuation, it claims to be the most valued direct-to-consumer (D2C) startup in India. There are currently only two D2C unicorns in India — Mamaearth and Licious. Mensa Brands made it to the club too but it is a house of D2C brands, meaning they will acquire smaller D2C brands and scale them further. “This valuation is a direct outcome of the value that we have created for our stakeholders – investments made towards building the category have borne us rich dividends and have propelled growth for the company and its people. The growing interest of investors – from India and abroad alike is an added assurance that obsession with customers, quality and service standards are the pillars of the best businesses,” Vivek Gupta and Abhay Hanjura, cofounders of Licious, said in a statement. A direct-to-consumer brand is a company that sells its products directly to customers without relying on third parties in a big way. A more traditional retailer follows a longer chain to provide a product to customers — manufacturer/producer&gt; to a wholesaler&gt; to a distributor&gt; to a retailer &gt; to customer. The development comes only six months after Licious made its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/news/meat-and-seafood-brand-licious-is-now-worth-over-a-billion-dollars/articleshow/86775398.cms">entry into the unicorn club</a> with a billion dollar valuation. The company had raised $52 million in October 2021 in a round led by IIFL AMC’s Late Stage Tech Fund. Licious was founded by Abhay Hanjura and Vivek Gupta about six years ago. The company has created a robust cold chain control system to maintain the quality of its products from procurement, processing to storage. The company specialises in chicken, goat, lamb and pork meat, among others. It also offers fish and seafood products, along with exotic meat varieties like turkey, blue crab and more. Zerodha founders, BoAt’s Aman Gupta and others invest $150 million in Licious

New Delhi, Jan 28 () Moody's Investors Service and Fitch Ratings have given a stable outlook to the credit ratings of India Infoline Finance Ltd (IIFL), according to a regulatory filing on Tuesday.
 The agencies have assigned ratings to the company. 
 Moody's Investors Service has assigned a first-time Ba3 corporate family rating to India Infoline Finance Ltd.
 Moody's Corporate Family Ratings (CFR) are opinions on a corporate family's ability to honour all of its financial obligations.
 The global ratings firm has also assigned (P)Ba3 long-term foreign and local currency senior secured ratings to the company's USD 1 billion Euro Medium-Term Note (EMTN) programme, according to the regulatory filing. It added that the outlook is stable.
 On the ratings rationale, Moody's said it is driven by the company's stable and healthy solvency profile, including its asset quality, profitability and capital.
 Meanwhile, Fitch Ratings has assigned long-term issuer default rating (IDR) of 'BB-' to IIFL. It also kept the the outlook stable.
 'BB-' denotes elevated vulnerability to default risk.
 The agency has also assigned a 'BB-' rating to IIFL's USD 1-billion medium-term note (MTN) programme
 IIFL reported a 78 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 193 crore for the December 2019 quarter.
 Incorporated in 2004, the mid-sized retail finance company targets low-ticket retail loans such as home, business, gold and micro finance in semi-urban and rural areas of the country. Such assets represented 86 per cent of its total assets under management (AUM) at 31 December 2019.
 Moody's Investors Service said about 14 per cent of IIFL's loans are exposed to riskier segments, including small and mid-corporate segments, in the form of loans to developers (13 per cent) and loans for capital market activities (1 per cent).
 "Despite the tight funding conditions, India Infoline Finance has managed to proactively diversify its funding to more stable and long-dated funding sources, such as term loans from banks and non-convertible debentures," Moody's said. KPM HRS
