The BCCI has set up an organising committee for ICC World Twenty20, which will be held in India next year. 
 
The World T20 tournament, which will be hosted by the BCCI, will held from March 11 to April 3, 2016. 
 <keyword id="2955406" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="BCCI-secretary-Anurag-Thakur">BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur</keyword> informed that MV Sridhar, general manager for cricket operations at BCCI as the tournament director while former Delhi Police commissioner Neeraj Kumar, who is the chief advisor security and ACSU of BCCI will be the director of Security and ACSU for the event. 
 
While Amrit Mathur is appointed as the principal coordinator, RP Shah will be the tournament manager finance. KVP Rao, manager - game development of the BCCI has been appointed as the manager for cricket operations while Nishant Jeet Arora, media manager of the BCCI, will be the tournament media manager. 
 
N Srinivasan's assistant Mayank Parikh has been nominated as manager - logistics and hospitality for the event. 
 
Professor Ratnakar Shetty has been appointed as an advisor to the committee.

BCCI gears up for 2016 ICC World T20, forms organising committee

A day after the Indian cricket board said that it will not be able to host the <keyword id="44040" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="T20-World-Cup">T20 World Cup</keyword>, the International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a statement confirming that the multi-nation tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (<keyword id="6358356" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="uae">UAE</keyword>) and <keyword id="62607" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="oman">Oman</keyword> from October 17 to November 14. "The <keyword id="6354756" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="bcci">BCCI</keyword> will remain the hosts of the event, which will now be held in Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, from 17 October to 14 November 2021," said a statement from ICC. The initial stage of the tournament will likely be held in Oman and a venue in UAE soon after the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 ends in the country. "Our priority is to deliver the ICC Men's T20 <keyword id="22177" type="SPORT" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-cup">World Cup</keyword> 2021 safely, in full and in its current window. Whilst we are incredibly disappointed not to be hosting the event in India, the decision gives us the certainty we need to stage the event in a country that is a proven international host of multi-team events in a bio-secure environment. We will work closely with the BCCI, the Emirates Cricket Board and Oman Cricket to ensure fans can enjoy a wonderful celebration of cricket," said Geoff Allardice, the acting ICC CEO, in a statement. The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, said that the Board would have been happier hosting the tournament in India. India legend Yuvraj Singh named ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 ambassador

We could not even get dot balls in because the pitch was obviously providing a big pace for the batsman to work with. The slower balls were not holding up as much. "These small little factors, as I said, it did make a massive difference, and as a team you need to understand what was the reality of the situation out there in the middle, and that's where those 20, 25 extra runs would have been good, but brilliant bowling in the first six (overs by Pakistan) did not allow us to get those extra runs." ICC World T20: Watch what the Indian cricket team has to say to its fans

The <keyword id="46227" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="international-cricket-council" source="Orion">International Cricket Council</keyword> (<keyword id="6355164" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICC" source="Orion">ICC</keyword>) on Thursday confirmed that it will replace '<keyword id="10878" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="batsman" source="Orion">batsman</keyword>' with gender-neutral term '<keyword id="55002" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Batter" source="Orion">batter</keyword>' in all its playing conditions, starting with this month's men's <keyword id="44040" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="T20-World-Cup" source="Orion">T20 World Cup</keyword>, scheduled to be played in UAE and Oman. In September, the Marylebone Cricket Club announced it would be replacing the word 'batsman' with 'batter' in the Laws of Cricket. That change will now be reflected across all ICC playing conditions going forward. The ICC said over the past four years it has been moving away from the word "batsman", with "batter" implemented regularly in commentary and across the organisation's channels. ICC acting CEO Geoff Allardice said the MCC's decision to move to ‘batter' in the Laws of the game was one they 'welcomed'. "The ICC has been utilising the term batter for some time now across our channels and in commentary and we welcome the MCC's decision to implement it into the Laws of cricket and will follow suit with our playing conditions that are derived from the Laws," Allardice said in a statement. "This is a natural and perhaps overdue evolution of our sport and now our batters are gender-neutral in the same way as bowlers, fielders and wicket keepers," he added. Allardice also said that it's a small change but one that will have a significant impact on cricket being viewed as a more inclusive sport. "Of course language changes alone will not grow the sport, we must ensure that girls and boys who are inspired to play cricket have a fantastic, fun first experience and are both able to progress as cricketers without barriers," he said. For ICC Hall of Famer and former Australia star Lisa Sthalekar the move to 'batter' is a simple but important one in growing a sport that truly is for everyone. Unaware cricket was a sport played by women as a child, Sthalekar went on to become one of the finest players Australia has ever produced before making the step into commentary. Having grown up using the term 'batter' as a player, she stuck to the word when she stepped behind the microphone and remembers being told by a co-commentator in one of her earliest gigs that "batter was for fish." "We don't say ‘hey look at that fieldsman', we say ‘look at the fielder'. We don't say 'bowlsman', we say 'bowler'," she said to icc-cricket.com following the MCC decision. "So if there is a similar term to describe someone with a piece of wood in their hands, why wouldn't we follow suit?" According to ICC, it's worth noting that up until this century, the phrase 'fieldsman' was the accepted term with the MCC stepping in in 2000. Nowadays, it would be hard-pressed to find anyone saying 'fieldsman'. Sthalekar is well aware even with the ICC and MCC both moving permanently to ‘batter' that 'batsman' will still be heard on occasion in the media. "It's like a habit, it takes forever to get rid of it,'' she said. Lisa's thoughts were echoed by Allardice, who described the move as a "common-sense change". "Why not take a small step to ensuring we're a sport that doesn't exclude 50 per cent of the world's population with outdated language choices. Whilst some may have made lots of noise against this common-sense change, the majority of people within the game have welcomed the move," he said. ICC to replace 'batsman' with gender neutral term 'batter' in all formats

The <keyword id="19921630" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="T20-World-Cup" source="keywords">T20 World Cup</keyword> in the Americas has received a <keyword id="21180971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="terror-threat" source="keywords">terror threat</keyword>, Trinidad's Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has revealed even as the <keyword id="19901177" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICC" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="ICC" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="ICC">ICC</keyword> asserted that a "comprehensive and robust security plan" is in place to "mitigate any risks" to the showpiece beginning June 1. The tournament -- featuring 20 teams, including India -- is scattered across nine venues, six of them in the <keyword id="19921633" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="West-Indies" source="keywords">West Indies</keyword>. As of now, the threat, according to media reports, is specific to the West Indies, which aside from some preliminary matches, will be hosting the entire Super 8 stage along with the semifinals and the final on June 29. "Unfortunately, the threat of terrorism in its many and varied expressions is an ever-present danger in the world of the 21st century," Rowley was quoted as saying by 'Trinidad Daily Express' here. Rowley did not name any organisation but reports here stated that the Islamic State made the threat through its propaganda channel. The ICC responded to the development with a statement assuring preparedness. "Safety and security of everyone at the event is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place," a spokesperson of the global body said in a statement issued to PTI. "We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event." Rowley said "extra effort in national security preparations and response readiness" will be put in to neutralise the danger. "Given the fact that bad actors can choose to misbehave in any way possible, it makes it virtually impossible to completely seal off all opportunities," he said. "However, in order to ameliorate these dangers, we at the local and regional levels have remained alert to many threats and singularly or together have our intelligence and other security agencies working to protect the population in countries and at venues throughout the tournament," he added. The World Cup matches in the West Indies will be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago. The US leg will feature games in Florida, New York and Texas. New York will host the marquee India-Pakistan clash on June 9. Cricket West Indies said everything is being done to ensure foolproof security at the mega-event. "We work closely with authorities in the host countries and cities, and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event," CWI CEO Jonny Graves told 'Cricbuzz'. "We want to assure all stakeholders that safety and security of everyone at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place," he added. There's terror threat to T20 World Cup, reveals Trinidad PM; ICC says robust security plan in place

In an unexpected twist of events, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ICC">ICC</a> has announced they'll shift the March 19 World Twenty20 match from Dharmshala to Kolkata at the last minute due to 'security concerns'. 
 
On Tuesday evening, Pakistan had earlier asked the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ICC">International Cricket Council</a> (ICC) and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Board+of+Control+for+Cricket+in+India">Board of Control for Cricket in India</a> (<keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword>) to shift the match. 
	<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=David+Richardson">David Richardson</a>, CEO, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ICC">ICC</a> said, "It's unprecedented and unfortunate that these concerns were raised by the government in recent times. Its too early for us to consider disciplinary action against the State association."

Richardson said they'll try and convince PCB to ask the Pakistan to Kolkata. He said the ICC will leave no stone unturned to convince India's safe.

Thums Up partners with Jasprit Bumrah for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021

Dubai, India will open their campaign in the rescheduled Women's ODI World Cup against a qualifier on March 6, 2022 at Tauranga's Bay Oval in New Zealand, according to the 31-match schedule announced by the ICC on Tuesday. India have two more matches against qualifiers on March 12 and March 22 at Seddon park, Hamilton in the eight-team round-robin format event. Among the marquee games, Tauranga will host the rematch of the 2017 Women's World Cup final at Lord's with India taking on England on March 16. India will then face Australia at Eden Park, Auckland on March 19, before locking horns with South Africa on March 27 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. The event, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic from its original window in February-March 2021 with the same six host cities and venues retained, will be held between March 4 and April 3, 2022. The first global women's <keyword id="1521" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cricket">cricket</keyword> event to be played since the T20 World Cup in Australia in March, it will feature eight of the world's best nations going head-to-head across Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. "We have all been through a very difficult year and are happy to be getting back at playing the game we all love," India captain Mithali Raj said in an ICC release. "India has been doing very well at ICC tournaments in the past three or four years, whether you talk about the (ODI) World Cup or the recently concluded T20 World Cup. The tournament-opener will be held in Tauranga featuring the White Ferns and a qualifier on March 4. Besides India, New Zealand, Australia, England and South Africa have qualified for the World Cup. The three remaining teams will emerge from the ICC qualifying tournament which will be held from June 26 to July 10 in Sri Lanka next year. It will be the first of two major cricket tournaments across the globe in 2022 - the other being the Commonwealth Games in England. "This schedule takes the world's best cricketers across New Zealand and can help inspire a generation of girls and boys to take up the game," ICC CEO, Manu Sawhney said. The prize money for the showpiece will total NZD 5.5 million, an increase of almost 60 percent on 2017 and more than 1000 percent compared to 2013. All matches will be broadcast live to a huge global audience. ICC announces schedule for 2022 Women's World Cup, India to open against a qualifier

India are slated to take on England in five T20Is, following the culmination of the ongoing four-Test <keyword id="45633" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="series">series</keyword>, part of the ICC <keyword id="713106" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-Test-championship">World Test Championship</keyword> (WTC) and the duo will get a chance to gain some points. The rankings got updated following the culmination of the three-match series between Pakistan and South Africa which the Babar Azam led-side won 2-1. South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has grabbed a career-best second position among bowlers while Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has raced to 42nd place in the rankings. Shamsi's series-topping six wickets, which included a haul of four for 25 in the final match, helped the left-arm wrist-spinner overtake Australia's Adam Zampa, England's Adil Rashid and Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman to within three points of top-ranked Rashid Khan of Afghanistan. Rizwan too benefited from heading the run-aggregate in the series with 197 runs, which comprised knocks of 104 not out, 51 and 42. The string of impressive scores won him the player of the series award and lifted him a whopping 116 slots to a career-best 42nd position. Haider Ali is another Pakistan batsman to advance, moving up 13 places to 137th position while fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi (up five places to 11th) and Hasan Ali (up 14 places to 82nd), and spinners Mohammad Nawaz (re-entered at 64th) and Usman Qadir (up 129 places to 92nd) are the bowlers to progress. For South Africa, Reeza Hendricks's 98 runs in the series have lifted him seven places to 17th and David Miller's 116 runs, which included a 45-ball 85 not out in the second match, sees him gain seven places to 22nd position in the list led by Dawid Malan of England. Fast bowler Dwaine Pretorius has moved up from 121st place to 51st, after matching compatriot Shamsi's six wickets in the series, a huge gain considering his previous best was only a 107th rank. There is no change of positions in the ICC team rankings after the series. Pakistan have gained one point but remain in fourth position with 260 points while South Africa have lost one point but remain fifth with 251 points.
