IBPS clerk 2021 examination: how to register, important dates and more

The online applications began on October 20 and the last date to register is November 10 this year. Candidates who are interested in applying for the opportunity, will have to mandatorily appear for an online preliminary exam and then online main examination and then finally for a common interview for selection. Applicants who successfully clears all three phases of the exam, will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks. These are the banks participating — Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>n Overseas Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Indian Bank, and Punjab &amp; Sind Bank. <ul><li>Every year, around one crore candidates register for exams conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), out of which 60-70% candidates actually appear for it, as per IBPS.</li><li>During the year 2020-21, around 50 lakh candidates registered for various IBPS exams, a lower number of candidates as compared to 2019-20 due to COVID-19 pandemic.</li><li>Some of the important points an aspirant should keep in mind while preparing for bank exams.</li></ul>Banking sector, which plays a pivotal role in supporting the country’s economy, conducts multiple examinations every year to recruit staff for clerical and probationary officer (PO) positions in RBI and SBI. Every year, around one crore candidates register for exams conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), out of which 60-70% candidates actually appear for it, as per IBPS. During the year 2020-21, around 50 lakh candidates registered for various IBPS exams, a lower number of candidates as compared to 2019-20 due to COVID-19 pandemic, according to data revealed by IBPS. Preparing for bank examinations is not a one week or one month task. It usually requires dedication for a few months in order to crack the exam. Some prefer taking coaching classes while some prefer studying on their own. “Opting to prepare from the coaching centres can be very helpful to the candidates as these coaching centers have a crash course, in which the candidates are trained with shortcuts and tricks for solving the bank exams question papers with speed and accuracy. However, self-study, online consultation etc., also play a very vital role. So, it is also possible for aspirants to crack exams without coaching also,” says Gaurav Tyagi, founder of Career Xpert, a Noida based counselling hub. These are some of the important points an aspirant should keep in mind while preparing for bank exams, according to Ruchir Arora, founder and chief executive (CEO) of CollegeDekho, an online career guidance platform. 1. Study plan Study plan is something, which we all make but end up not sticking to it. For IBPS exams, it is quite essential to make a study plan as it gives you a clear indication of how much syllabus you’ve covered. A study plan can also help you reduce stress levels, which is caused due to exam pressure. 2. Take regular tests An aspirant should always focus on increasing his/her speed and the only way to do that is to take regular mock tests. It will not only increase your speed, but also boost your capability of solving tricky problems in a short span of time. 3. Choose your study material and resources wisely It is always recommended to choose books, study materials for studying which contain appropriate amounts of relevant information. One must use the best and reliable sources for preparing. 4. Work on weak areas An aspirant should know his/her weak areas and give them a little bit more attention than other subjects/areas. 5. Time management Managing time is the most important aspect while preparing or giving the exam. While preparing, one should strategise the amount of time that should be spent on each subject and section. Also, while attempting the exam, one should divide the time for each section to solve the maximum number of questions. 6. Revision A preparation process is incomplete without a proper revision of each subject. For a quick revision, one can make short notes on important topics. Stay positive A negative thought or mindset can drastically affect your exam and your future. Therefore, it is important to stay calm and positive to improve your concentration. Bank PO/clerk exams: These are a few tips and tricks that can help you clear them

<ul><li>The government job seekers will now be required to undergo a common online exam. The test scores will be valid upto three years. </li><li>Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed to set up a test centre in every district to trim the recruitment process for jobs in the government departments and public banks. </li><li>The entrance test may also be viable for private jobs. </li></ul>Government job aspirants can breathe easy with one <keyword id="1121108" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="common-eligibility-test">common eligibility test</keyword> (CET) for recruitment to non-gazetted posts. This is if the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) proposed by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday (February 1), goes through. Sitharaman proposed to set up a test centre in every district to trim the recruitment process in government departments and public sector banks. “This places enormous burden on time, effort and cost of young people,” she commented on the current process. As per her proposal, job seekers will now have to take a common online exam and the scores will be valid upto three years - and can be used for notifications across companies over the years. However, the applicant can give three attempts to improve the score. In this case, the best of three scores obtained shall be considered for recruitment. The scorecard will be available to both the candidates and the recruitment agency. The move will benefit over 250 million aspirants who struggle with courses and test formats for 125,000 job postings across departments. Applicants can save on the fee needed to appear for multiple entrances. The entrance test can also be used by private sector recruiters. “The CET score can also be utilised by the private sector for consideration of eligible candidates other than those selected by government recruitment agencies, through an arrangement with NRA,” the government noted. According to the budget announcements, the government is likely to create 262,000 jobs by March next year. Meanwhile, separate CETs will also be formulated for recruitment of graduates and matric level students applying for non-technical posts. As of now, these posts are filled via Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) exams. The government also plans to expand its 'Study in India' programme. Government job applicants can save on time and fee with one common entrance test

Public sector banks are now introducing a third-layer to the hiring process to shun non-serious candidates. As per a recent report published in Economic Times suggests that <keyword id="6392442" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Institute-of-Banking-Personnel-Selection">Institute of Banking Personnel Selection</keyword> (<keyword id="460374" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="IBPS">IBPS</keyword>) is making it trickier for candidates to get employed in public sector banks. 
 AS Bhattacharya, director and member-secretary of IBPS have said, “We are trying to get the right people for the right job. We also intend to arrest impersonation through a three-tier examination process." The new process will now include a preliminary exam before the entrance exam and interview. Scores from the preliminary exam will not be carried forward and over 55,000 <keyword id="2905018" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Banking-Job">banking job</keyword> aspirants are likely to go through the three-phrase selection process this year. 
 For its 16,000 vacancies for <keyword id="253219" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="probationary-officer">probationary officer</keyword> (PO) last year IBPS received a sum of 14 lakh applications, which did not included posts for the <keyword id="6354731" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="State-Bank-Of-India">State Bank of India</keyword>. 
 
SBI, the country's largest lender, will be the first to hold the preliminary exam. The nationalized is planning to hire 2,000 probationary officers next year and the process will begin next week, a senior bank official said. SBI has mandated IBPS to conduct the exams. 
Giving details of further hiring process Bhattacharya said, “The hiring of officers for 2016-17 will be done in October. The exam for clerical positions will be held in December.” 
 
The ET report also suggested that banks excluding SBI are estimated to hire 20,000 officers and 30,000 clerks next year. For this financial year, IBPS has cleared the recruitment of 16,344 officers, 3,784 specialist officers and 30,683 clerks in state-run banks. Banks other than SBI had hired about 1.5 lakh candidates in the past three years. 
 
About 1.22 crore candidates registered with the IBPS over the past three years only 86 lakh turned up to take the common test. During this period, over 99.5 lakh candidates signed up for employment with SBI and 66 lakh of them appeared for the exam. 
 
IBPS also conducts exams for jobs in private banks, regional rural banks, cooperative banks and other financial institutions. It doesn't plan to introduce the three-phase system immediately for candidates aspiring to work with these entities.
