 This comes on the backdrop of mounting losses reported by the revenue department, thanks to the nationwide lockdown that has put a halt to all the services. That accounts to ₹12,000 crore. “The state treasury needs to get Rs 12,000 crore since March 15. Everything is shut — petrol, GST, excise. So, we may have to cut salaries of MLAs and government employees. People have to cooperate – we are in a crisis, this is not a luxury. You have to eat half of what you were eating before,” Rao said. However, the least affected would be the contractual employees — who will have to share 10% of their pay. The move will also impact the employees of the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and other government aided institutions — including Human Rights Commission. “For all public sector undertakings and institutions that are receiving government grants employees, like government employees and retirees, there will be a cut in their salaries,” the statement noted. The state government said that it will contribute nearly ₹500 crore to tackle the pandemic. However, they might need to spend more as the number of infections spiked to 71, leaving eight dead, as on Monday (March 30). The Chief Minister will announce the incentive in a day or two. The government has already announced salary cut for all its employees in the wake of the crisis triggered by spread of COVID-19 and resultant lockdown. The cut has been imposed according to grade and service cadres. Telangana will pay police in full with extra cash incentives even as civil servants pay is slashed

The monthly remuneration of all officers and staff of the PMO has been made public, as part of a proactive disclosure under the Right to Information Act. As per the revelation dated June 1, 2016, <keyword id="985066" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhaskar-Khulbe">Bhaskar Khulbe</keyword>, an IAS officer of the 1983 batch who serves as the Secretary to the Prime Minister, is the highest paid PMO official, drawing a monthly salary of Rs 2.01 lakh. 
 
Khulbe was promoted to the post of Secretary to PM only last week, before which he was serving as the Additional Secretary. 
 After Khulbe, the three other top-paid officials at PMO include the Principal Secretary to PM, <keyword id="577616" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nripendra-Misra">Nripendra Misra</keyword>, Additional Principal Secretary <keyword id="2824826" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="P-K-Mishra">P.K. Mishra</keyword> and National Security Adviser <keyword id="115253" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ajit-Doval">Ajit Doval</keyword>. All three of them are retired civil servants and get paid the same salary of Rs 1,62,500 per month plus pension. 
 
After them, J.M. Thakkar, the PRO at PMO and also an old aide of the PM, is paid Rs 99434 per month plus pension.

The government's decision to suspend domestic flight would come into effect from midnight Tuesday, as part of larger efforts to curb spreading of coronavirus infections. In an e-mail to his employees, IndiGo Chief executive Officer Ronojoy Dutta said the company has "reasonable" level of advanced bookings for April and it was "anxious' to fly again albeit with a reduced capacity. "For those who don't have to be working during this temporary suspension of operations, we will make no deduction of salaries or leaves," Dutta said in the e-mail. has accessed the e-mail. Stating that the last few days have been very challenging for the airline, he said "clearly for the next few weeks our revenues will be well below our costs and we will have to make our efforts to penny-pinch and preserve cash". He also said that as employees "let us also be acutely cognizant of the fact that during this temporary suspension of operations, we will be spending our cash reserves to continue to pay salaries and benefits". Mumbai, Mar 25 () Flag carrier Air India is expected to incur losses to the tune of Rs 30-35 crore per day following the suspension of operations in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, according to a source. With stringent border controls across the countries to restrict movement of people, many countries have barred international flights in their territory amid COVID-19. India has also announced a temporary ban on flying. "We will not be operating a single commercial flight along with other domestic carriers as per the government's order, yet our daily losses will still be in the range of Rs 30-35 crore. "Though there will not be ceratin costs such as fuel, ground handling, airport fee during the suspension of oprations, we still will have to make payments towards salaries and allowances, lease rentals, mimimum maintenance, besides the interest payment, among others," the source told . Air India's total earnings per day are around Rs 60-65 crore and 90 per cent of this comes from passenger revenue, he said adding, "the expenses too are in the same range. So we are earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) positive or in a way meeting our all expenses." Air India's salary bill stands at around Rs 250 crore per month while the aircraft lease rentals outgo is around USD 30 million per month as per the source. The airline has 21 Boeing B787-800s on lease in addition to 27 Airbus A320Neo planes. The lease rental for each Boeing 787 is USD 1 million per months and USD 400 per month for an A20Neo, as per the source. COVID-19: Air India to incur Rs 30-35 cr loss per day following suspension of operations

Mumbai, Apr 16 () Bajaj Auto management has proposed salary cut for all employees with its MD Rajiv Bajaj himself to take 100 per cent pay cut for the extended lockdown period till May 3. According to a letter sent by the company's HR department to employees, there is need to bring down fixed cost in the wake of the lockdown due to coranvirus pandemic, hence the deductions needed. However, according to union sources, if the company resumes production from April 20 under the new guidelines by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the proposed 10 per cent salary reduction by the management will not be implemented. The letter from the HR department said: "We are extremely sensitive to the welfare of our workers and employees. If these deductions were to be made they would be fixed, balanced and measured and graded." It further said,"the Managing director has decided to take the initiative if such a decision is implemented, he will not receive any salary during this period."Automobiles and auto components production in the country is suspended since the imposition of the nationwide lockdown on March 25, which has now been extended to May 3. However, the industry is hoping to resume partial operations after the the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday issued guidelines for the extended lockdown period.As per the guidelines, manufacturing units located in rural areas can start operations under strict conditions. Besides, manufacturing and other industrial establishments with access control in special economic zones (SEZ) and export oriented units, industrial estates and industrial townships can restart production from April 20."Due to unprecedented conditions, business and incomes have stalled in many areas and many companies have either announced or considering several cost-control measures, including some tough ones," the letter said."We will review it periodically as the uncertainties in the present scenario will be even greater," it said. Meanwhile, sources also said the Bajaj Auto workers union has agreed for a 10 per cent pay cut for the second phase of the lockdown period, if production does not resume from April 21. "We have given our consent to the management for a 10 per cent cut as we are fully aware of the situation the company and the country is going through," a union representative told . Mumbai, Mar 31 () Budget carrier SpiceJet has decided to cut 10-30 per cent salary of all its employees in March, with Chairman Ajay Singh opting for highest 30 per cent trimming in compensation, the airline said in an e-mail communication to the staff on Tuesday."SpiceJet management has decided to implement a pay cut between 10-30 per cent in March across our employee base. Our Chairman and Managing Director (Ajay singh), in fact, has opted for the highest cut of 30 per cent in compensation," the airline said in the communication.Other budget carriers IndiGo and GoAir have already announced similar move earlier."These are extremely tough time and call for appropriate and exceptional measures to sale through the exceptional challenge," it said.As tough as it seems, most Indian carriers have already announced a pay cut for their employees, SpiceJet said."Unfortunately SpiceJet is not too immune to the situation which has unquestionably affected the airlines in the most severe form across the globe. Formal search for new SEBI chairman initiated by government

Mumbai, Apr 3 () State-owned Air India's pilot unions on Friday opposed the 10 per cent cut in employees' allowances, terming the decision as "unequal" and that goes against the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to the companies to ensure that the salaries of the employees are not slashed amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a joint letter to Air India chief Rajiv Bansal on Friday, the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) and Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) said the reduction in allowance was against the labour and employment ministry's advisory to all employers of public or private establishments not to terminate their employees or reduce their wages. "We, the flying crew of Air India feel, immensely let down by the self-serving approach of the Executive Management Committee in the name of cost cutting measures. The committee has completely disregarded the appeal made by the prime minister and the advisory from the labour and employment ministry," the pilot unions said. Two days after Modi's appeal during his televised address to the nation on imposition of a 21-day lockdown to curb spread of the coranvirus infection, to companies not to cut employees salaries (due to the lockdown), Air India decided to reduce 10 per cent of allowances paid to all employees, except cabin crew, for a period of three months to tide over the economic fallout of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. The reduction, however, did not impact the basic pay, house rent allowance and variable dearness allowance. On March 18, the airline had decided to withdraw special allowance to pilots while revising downward the layover allowance for cabin crew. Significantly, flying allowance accounts for as much as 70 per cent in a pilots' salaries. "By effecting a 10 per cent cut in allowances for all employees, the category that has been affected the most are pilots. Flying-related allowances of pilots' wages allowances constitute to 70 per cent of the gross emoluments. "By affecting a cut only on allowances, the directors and senior management executives have deviously exempted themselves from any meaningful austerity cut as their allowances are extremely small while pilots and cabin crew who are the frontline warriors flying and risking their lives, are forced to bear the maximum cut," the unions said in the letter. It also said that the fact remains that the core of an airline is the airplanes and the staff who keep them flying and that every other department exists to support them in this endeavour. "As you are aware, the flying allowance is not paid on-time. While all the other employees are paid in full, flying crew alone are made to bear the brunt with delayed flying allowance. Implementation of sham austerity measures to cut the flying allowances on top of all this would be adding insult to injury," it said. Reminding the management that "many flying crew" are held at "home quarantine/self-quarantine" after operating international and special flights, the unions said "one of our crew has been diagnosed COVID-19 positive and is hospitalised". The pilot unions, in the letter, also questioned the airline's decision to enter into a contract with other countries to repatriate their citizens on commercial charters which does not come under the purview of the Essential Services Maintenance Act. "We are hopeful you will treat all your employees equally. The pay cut on allowance is unequal, and not acceptable to us. We request you to advise the senior executive management to rise above self during these testing times, to draw up fair cost cutting measures and not to manipulate the system to safeguard their salaries by merely burdening the frontline soldiers of the national carrier," the letter stated.
