New Delhi, Jun 23 () Pharma major Cipla will price its generic version of antiviral drug remdesivir at less than Rs 5,000 per vial in keeping with its conviction of providing access to the medicines at affordable cost, the company said on Tuesday. "In line with our overall philosophy of driving access and affordability, the drug will be priced at less than Rs 5,000 per vial vial for injection 100 mg -- amongst the lowest pricing for remdesivir globally," Cipla said in an e-mailed response to . On being asked about the launch of the drug, the company said: "We have started commercial manufacturing, and the product will be available in the next 8-10 days." Hyderbad-based drug firm Hetero on Sunday said that it will price its generic version of the drug in the range of Rs 5,000-6,000 per dose. Remdesivir is the only United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA)-approved Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) treatment for adult and paediatric patients hospitalised with suspected or laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection. Cipla has been granted regulatory approval by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for restricted emergency use in the country as part of the accelerated approval process considering the urgent and unmet medical need, the company said on Sunday. In May, domestic pharma firms Hetero, Cipla and Jubilant Life Sciences entered into non-exclusive licensing agreements with drug major Gilead Sciences Inc for manufacturing and distribution of remdesivir. According to the Union health ministry update, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country stood at 4,40,215 on Tuesday and the death toll was at 14,011. AKT HRS

Cipla to price generic version of COVID-19 drug remdesivir at less than Rs 5,000 per vial

Hyderbad, Global <keyword id="6354750" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="health">health</keyword>care company GSK, non-profit agency working to end health inequity PATH, and <keyword id="9254290" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="vaccine-maker-bharat-biotech">vaccine maker Bharat Biotech</keyword> on Wednesday announced the signing of a product transfer agreement for malaria vaccine RTS,S/AS01E1. The agreement includes the transfer of manufacturing of the RTS,S antigen part of the vaccine and the grant of a license on all rights pertaining to the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine to Hyderabad-based <keyword id="149108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Biotech">Bharat Biotech</keyword> International Ltd (BBIL). GSK will retain the production of the adjuvant of the vaccine (AS01E) and will supply it to Bharat Biotech. BBIL was selected through a comprehensive, competitive process undertaken by GSK and PATH, working in consultation with the <keyword id="6356311" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Health-Organisation">World Health Organisation</keyword> (WHO), the vaccine maker said in a statement here. The RTS,S/AS01E malaria vaccine, developed by GSK for more than 30 years, and in partnership with PATH since 2001, is currently being piloted in regions of Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi under the Malaria Vaccine Implementation Programme (MVIP). Ministries of Health concerned are leading the implementation of the vaccine, which is being given to young children through the three countries' routine immunisation programmes, with WHO providing technical and scientific leadership, playing a coordinating role, and working in collaboration with GSK, PATH, and a range of <keyword id="10662236" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="other-partners">other partners</keyword>. RTS,S/AS01E is the first, and to date, the only malaria vaccine to have received a positive review by regulatory authorities (positive scientific opinion from the <keyword id="114599" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="European-Medicines-Agency">European Medicines Agency</keyword> and approval by the regulatory authorities of Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi for use in the MVIP). The first dose of the vaccine has reached more than 500,000 children since the pilots were initiated by Ministries of Health in the three participating countries in 2019. This agreement with BBIL is the result of efforts by GSK, PATH, and WHO to help ensure long-term sustainable vaccine supply, in the event of a WHO policy recommendation for broader use and a commitment of sustained funding. This builds on existing GSK commitments to donate up to 10 million RTS,S/AS01E doses for use in the pilot, and to supply up to 15 million doses annually until 2028 if the product is recommended for wider use by WHO. It is expected that by 2029, at the latest, BBIL will be the sole supplier of the vaccine, with GSK supplying the adjuvant AS01E to them. "With a child still dying of malaria every two minutes, helping secure the long-term future of the only vaccine available by working with an established leader like Bharat Biotech is vital for the continued fight against this devastating disease. GSK is delighted to sign this agreement with Bharat Biotech," said Thomas Breuer, GSK Vaccines Chief Medical Officer and Vaccines Global Health lead. "We at PATH are proud to be a part of this remarkable effort -- together with partners across Africa, GSK, and WHO -- to get to this point. Bharat Biotech to make antigen for first-ever anti-malaria vaccine

The nail-biting excitement continues in <keyword id="6354312" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword> 7 as the top teams slug it out to be crowned victorious. While the last couple of matches have had a high adrenalin rush, this has certainly not been the case for the entire tournament. 
	 

	There are some players that were acquired at a high cost and came with a high degree of expectations but were not able to deliver at the ground. We bring to you a list of 11 such players that have not been able to justify their worth in the current season of IPL: 
	 

	Dinesh Kartik 

	 Team: <keyword id="6354884" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Delhi-Daredevils">Delhi Daredevils</keyword> Cost of Acquisition : Rs 12.5 Crore Delhi Daredevils has had a dismissal season at the IPL and all its players seem to be out of form. This includes the wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Kartik. He has scored 325 runs in the 14 matches with an average of 23.21. This is not what one would have expected out of the second most expensive players in the tournament 

	Kevin Pietersen

	 Team: Delhi Daredevils Cost of acquisition: Rs 9 crores The third most expensive player for the IPL season 7 is Kevin Pietersen and is the captain of Delhi Daredevils. In the 11 matches that he has played, he scored 294 runs averaging 29.40. Post the last match with <keyword id="13883" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Kings-XI-Punjab">Kings XI Punjab</keyword>, Pietersen said in a media interview that he was bitterly disappointed with that day’s match. He added, “I'd like to apologize to the Delhi Daredevils fans.” Pietersen signed off saying that he hoped that the things would be much different in the forthcoming season. 

	Corey Anderson 
	 

	Team: Mumbai Indians

	Cost of acquisition: 4.5 crores

	The Kiwi batsman Corey Anderson has having a horrible spell at the ongoing IPL. However, his knock of 95 runs in just 44 deliveries helped Mumbai Indians secure a place in the playoffs. In a nail-biting match, Mumbai Indians were entrusted with the task of chasing 190 runs in under 15 overs. Though his heroic feet needs to be accoladed, but in the overall stats, Anderson has hit 265 runs in his 12 matches and has an average of 29.44.

	Another player from the Mumbai Indians that has not been able to have an enjoyable season at the IPL is Micheal Hussey. So far in the tournament, Hussey has played 9 matches and scored 209 runs and has an average of 23.22.
 

	Chris Gayle 
	 

	Team: Royal Challenger Banglore

	 Cost of acquisition: 9.5 Crore

	The West Indies player is known to play big shots. However, in this IPL season, he too seemed a bit out of form. He has played 9 matches in the current tournament and hit a cumulative of 196 runs with an average of 21.77. His highest score in the tournament has been 46. 

	It is noteworthy that Gayle is harboring a back injury and is intending to go to Germany soon for his treatment.

In the IPL 7, it is being said that the Royal Challengers Bangalore has had an inconsistent form and the same is also true for their skipper.
 

	Yusuf Pathan 

	 <keyword id="6354467" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Kolkata-Knight-Riders">Kolkata Knight Riders</keyword> Cost of Acquisition: 3.25 crore When the IPL 7 started, one of the star batsmen in KKR’s side seemed to be not in the form. However, he made it up to them in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderbad by hitting 72 off 22 balls. In the first playoff match against Kings XI Punjab in the playoffs, KKR’s score was 67 runs for the loss of three wickets, and they wanted the Pathan boy to recreate the magic of the last match. Unfortunately, he was only able to manage 20 runs of 28 balls. Despite this knock, this batman from Kolkata’s team has scored a total of 212 in 13 matches. His average is 30.28

	Sunrisers Hyderabad

	Cost of acquisition: 4.75 Crore

	This leg spinner made a big impact in the IPL 2008 when he picked up a hat-trick while playing for the Delhi Daredevils. However, now as a member of the Hyderabad team, he has not been able to make a big impact. In the entire tournament, he has played 10 matches, bowled 37.3 overs and taken 7 wickets. His economy rate too has been a staggering 9.06!
 

	Murali Vijay

	Cost of acquisition: 5 crore

	 This player from the Delhi Daredevils has managed to score only 207 runs from his 11 innings in the tournament. In the last two matches that he played against Punjab and Mumbai, he managed to score a total of mere 13 runs. Due to his poor form, he was dropped in the last match that Delhi Daredevils played.
 

	Dale Steyn 
	 

	Sunrisers Hyderabad

	Cost of Acquisition: 9.5Crore

	Dale Steyn is another player, who seems to be having his worst IPL season. He has played 14 matches in this season and has managed to claim only 11 wickets and that too at a depressing average of 39.18.
 

	Jacques Kallis

	 
	Kolkata Knight Riders

	Cost of acquisition: 5.5 core 

	Kolkata Knight Riders was counting on the veteran allrounder Jacques Kallis to be an asset in this season of IPL. However, as he has not been able to spin in any magic either through bat or ball, he has been dropped in the last three matches in a row. He was also not the part of the semi-final game against Kings XI Punjab. In the IPL 7, Kallis has played 8 matches and scored a total of 151 runs and an average of 25.16. 11 Expensive Players That Were Not Able To Make A Mark in IPL 7

It has been widely said that having the best batsman or the best bowler in the side isn't alone going to help a team win tournaments and no one exemplifies this theory more than Sunrisers Hyderbad. Boasting one of the stronger sides on paper, they had the firepower required to go all the way but were incapable of repeating last year's success and crashed out in the league phase of <keyword id="6354312" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword> 7. Their campaign was marred by a few bizarre decisions taken by the team management, which eventually led to their demise. They swapped <keyword id="17805" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Shikhar-Dhawan">Shikhar Dhawan</keyword> with Darren Sammy as the captain at the fag end of the tournament, sent <keyword id="60604" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="David-Warner">David Warner</keyword> - one of the most destructive openers of the current era - down the order for most of the season and experimented with the batting order repeatedly. All these factors combined with over-dependence on reputed names did them in. 

	Provided they had delivered the goods, SRH could have finished a lot better than what they did - sixth in the points table - if not lift the trophy.
 

	IPL 7 record: Played 14, Won 6, Lost 8, Points 12
 Sunrisers didn't quite start their IPL 7 crusade in a manner they would have liked. A lukewarm start in the UAE, where they lost three of their first five matches, denied them the early momentum they would have hoped for. The wins came against a muddled <keyword id="6354884" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Delhi-Daredevils">Delhi Daredevils</keyword> and a then-woeful Mumbai Indians. The India leg too didn't witness much of a difference and they could manage only four wins out of nine. However, a late surge saw them beat <keyword id="6354506" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Royal-Challengers-Bangalore">Royal Challengers Bangalore</keyword> and Chennai Super Kings in back-to-back games but it came a little too late as the equation got stiffer. In their last league match, they need to beat Kolkata Knight Riders by a massive margin, which in the end proved too much. 

	High point
 By the time it arrived, matters were already out of hand. After an average UAE leg, the last few matches in India saw Sunrisers live up to their batting-heavy reputation. Prior to their second match against <keyword id="13883" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Kings-XI-Punjab">Kings XI Punjab</keyword> in Hyderabad, SRH's previous best was 184/1 against DD - one of the weaker sides in the tournament. But against KXIP they notched up 205/5 - their highest total in the IPL - but unfortunately ended up second-best. With their backs to the wall, SRH pulled off back-to-back wins against RCB and CSK to give themselves a chance for a play-off spot, be it a slight one. 

	Low point
 

	When they were bundled out for their lowest total this season - 121 against KXIP. Chasing 194 was always going to be a tough ask but no one expected their batting to do this badly. Only Lokesh Rahul spent time at the crease and top-scored with 27. As many as five batsman fell between 10-20. L Balaji took 4/13 and got the all-important wickets of Aaron Finch (19), Warner (8) and Sammy (15).
 

	Captaincy verdict
 

	The appointment of Dhawan as captain was perhaps not a wise decision considering the kind of form he was in prior to the tournament. His initial few scores were 38, 1, 33, 7 and 6 for an average of 17. It took Dhawan 12 innings to register his first half-century of the season and it came when Sammy was given charge of the team. Dhawan ended IPL 7 with 377 runs in 14 matches at an average of 29. His form was a major setback and it reflected in his captaincy as well. When Glenn Maxwell and David Miller went hammer and tongs, Dhawan looked listless as a leader and his shoulders dropped. The body language didn't indicate the best of signs either. Perhaps Sammy should have been the first choice for the post considering his experience leading West Indies.
 

	Most valuable player
 

	Not too many might have expected Bhuvneshwar Kumar to put up a show like he did: 20 wickets from 14 games at an economy of 6.65. His bowling had rhythm and he got the ball to swing both ways. He stood out in the Powerplays - his dot balls accounting to almost 60 percent - and was exceptional in the death overs.
 

	Also, not many SRH batsmen delivered but the David Warner batted, he clearly seemed to be in the wrong team at the wrong time. Despite being shuffled in the line-up, the Australian opener managed to hit a purple patch with 528 runs from 14 matches at an average of 48. He scored six half-centuries, the most by any batsman this season and his 90 against CSK was a pioneer innings.
 

	Major disappointment
 Not one but two. While IPL's second-highest wicket-taker <keyword id="74737" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Amit-Mishra">Amit Mishra</keyword> was far from his best, Dale Steyn leaked runs frequently. SRH played Mishra in 10 games, in which he scalped seven wickets at an average of 48.57. He went wicketless in four consecutive games and his economy-rate has been 9.06 - an alarming stat considering Mishra has never gone above 8.02 in the last six editions. On the other hand, with 11 wickets from 14 games, Steyn has gone at an economy of 7.69. Thrice was he taken for above 20 runs in an over - 24 by <keyword id="77602" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="AB-de-Villiers">AB de Villiers</keyword>, 23 by MS Dhoni and 26 by Yusuf Pathan, all of which Sunrisers lost. Another telling stat being he has conceded 46 boundaries this season - the most by any bowler. Clearly, not something people want to associate with the world's No. 1 ranked bowler. 

	Verdict
 

	An overall disappointment. SRH were expected to pose some real threat to their oppositions in the beginning of the tournament but instead fell flat in their approach. The big guns failed to step up to the occasion as no one except Warner has performed consistently. The No. 1 ranked Twenty20 batsman, Finch, managed only 309 runs from 13 innings with two half-centuries. Also, the inability to strike a correct team composition in the initial stages was a big letdown and that is what stopped them from setting the right tone.
 

	Must do for 2015
 

	First and foremost, the skipper needs to lead from the front and make sure his side sticks to the basics. Then, make sure his best batsmen open the innings and face the maximum number of balls. Third, persist with the opening pair of Warner and Finch with Dhawan at No.3 and not tinker with it. SRH would also expect more of the domestic crop to leave an impact and not rely too much on reputed foreign names. This might sound easier than done but once executed, they might do what their successors Deccan Chargers did in 2009.
