We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."<br /><br />The statement, signed 'Deb and Hugh Jackman', concluded: "This is the sole statement either of us will make."<br /><br />The couple in their 27 years of marriage share two kids, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.<br /><br />The two actors first met in 1995 on the set of the Australian TV series 'Corelli', where they had an instant attraction to one another. Lee, who was already an established actress, and Jackman, who was back then an upstart actor fresh out of drama school, married less than a year later.<br /><br />"Deb, she was a big star...I got picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. "And one of the reasons I overschedule myself is my lifelong pal, anxiety." </p><p>Reynolds, the 44-year-old "Deadpool" star and entrepreneur, went on to say "I know I'm not alone, and most importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry, and over-everything, please know you're not alone." </p><p>He said he wanted to destigmatize talking about mental health. </p><p>Celebrities and fans applauded Reynolds in the comments, with Hugh Jackman saying, "Mate, your honesty is not only brave but I'm positive it will help countless others who struggle with anxiety too. And, Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest has had enough.<br /><div type="ExtQuote" text="“I’m concerned about innocent Australians being scammed through clickbait advertising on social media. I’m acting here for Australians but this is happening all over the world.”" auname="Andrew Forrest in a statement on February 3"></div><br />Forrest has <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-60238985">filed a criminal case</a>, stating that Facebook was “criminally reckless” for allowing ads that fraudulently portray him and other celebrities which are endorsing <a href="http://coindcx.com">crypto</a> scams.<br /><br />According to the court documents, one person had<a href="https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/andrew-twiggy-forrest-takes-on-facebook-in-court-lobbing-worldfirst-criminal-charges-at-the-tech-giant/news-story/bf74fe229f470253ffa8d94abbbb5688"> lost $670,000</a> because of an ad featuring Forrest’s “endorsement”. However, the overall problem is much bigger. Data compiled by A<a href="https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/australians-lose-over-70-million-to-bogus-investment-opportunities"> Scamwatch </a>cites that Australians lost $29.2 million (AUD) to cryptocurrency “investment scams” in the first half of 2021 alone.<br /><br />These unauthorised endorsements go beyond just Forrest. Others like Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Bill Gates and other celebrities have been spotted in fraudulent advertisements over the past three years. <br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Prior actions and impact of scams" comment="subhead" text="Prior actions and impact of scams"><span data-til="noop">Prior actions and impact of scams</span></cmsannotation><br />Back in November 2019, Forrest had <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/business/companies/time-for-scam-free-social-media-andrew-forrest-s-letter-to-facebook-chief-20191111-p539af.html">sent an open letter</a> about the same issue to <keyword id="6354630" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mark-zuckerberg" source="Orion">Mark Zuckerberg</keyword>, then-CEO of Facebook. But his warning was barely heeded. Six months down the line, at least the Australian financial watchdog<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/australian-watchdog-issues-warning-on-fake-celebrity-endorsed-crypto-ads"> warned people</a> to be cautious of fraudulent crypto sites with celebrity testimonials.<br /><br />Forrest’s lawyers said that he has spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars” since March 2019 to dissociate himself from this scam. His lawsuit alleges that Facebook “knowingly profits from this cycle of illegal ads”, and that it “breaches anti-money laundering laws,” at least in Australia. <br /><br />The legal proceedings will begin at the end of March.<br /><br />According to Forrest, this is the first time that Facebook has faced criminal charges anywhere in the world. A private individual suing a company is unusual in Australia, but if found guilty, the court may levy fines or even compel Facebook to change its advertising mechanism in the country — for good.<br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Who is Andrew Forrest?" comment="subhead" text="Who is Andrew Forrest?"><span data-til="noop">Who is Andrew Forrest?</span></cmsannotation><br />Forrest is the chairman of mining company Fortescue Metals Group, which is based in Western Australia with a market cap of over $45 billion. <br /><br />In<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/feb/03/andrew-forrest-launches-criminal-action-against-facebook-over-scam-ads-that-used-his-image"> a statement</a>, he said that tracking down the scammers themselves is not easy, as they are mostly overseas. He stated that his intent is deterring Facebook “from allowing itself to be used as an instrument of crime.” <br /><div type="ExtQuote" text="“Facebook has shown little appetite to self-regulate or take basic steps to protect Australians from the misuse of its platform by crooks and scammers.”" auname="Statement by Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest"></div><br />Facebook has not commented on Forrest’s case specifically, as it was “a potentially active legal matter.” However, it did clarify that, “We don’t want ads seeking to scam people out of money or mislead people on Facebook – they violate our policies and are not good for our community.” <br /><br />Notably, social media companies find it difficult to filter some ads submitted to them,<a href="https://www.geoedge.com/ad-cloaking-how-malvertisers-bypass-ad-scanning/"> due to a practice called “cloaking,”</a> described by GeoEdge, an ad-security firm. Simply put, cloaking is a technique used by scammers to show different content to internal ad reviewers and to ad viewers, thus bypassing checks of the type that Forrester would like.<br /><br />A couple of months ago, a<a href="https://blog.checkpoint.com/2021/11/04/scammers-used-google-ads-to-steal-500k-worth-of-cryptocurrency/"> Check Point Research report</a> described how scammers<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/investment/news/google-amazon-and-apples-names-are-being-exploited-to-steal-crypto/articleshow/89093792.cms"> used Google Ads</a> to steal almost half a million dollars’ worth of cryptocurrency. The blockchain tracking firm Chainalysis had found in January 2022, that<a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/cryptocurrency/blockchain/millions-of-indians-visited-crypto-scam-websites-chainalysis-report/articleshow/89039737.cms"> millions of Indians</a> had visited crypto scam websites. In response, the UK government plans<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-strengthen-rules-on-misleading-cryptocurrency-adverts"> new laws to prevent misleading cryptocurrency</a> advertisements.<br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="More bad news for Facebook" comment="subhead" text="More bad news for Facebook"><span data-til="noop">More bad news for Facebook</span></cmsannotation><br />The criminal case comes on the footsteps of Facebook seeing a fall in daily users for the first time ever in its history, according to its third quarter results. Meta Networks revealed that Facebook’s daily active users (DAUs) clocked in at 1.929 billion between October to December as compared to 1.930 billion in the previous quarter. <br /><br />The company also revealed that it’s wary of revenue growth slowing down in the coming year. Facebook’s fake crypto ads are being taken to court by Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest

Whitesell counts Matt Damon, Christian Bale, and Hugh Jackman among his clients.  According to the New York Post, Sanchez and Whitesell separated in the fall. It's after this that Bezos reportedly "became closer" with Sanchez. Sanchez has three children - two from her marriage to Whitesell and one from a previous relationship.</p><p>The National Enquirer says it conducted a four-month investigation into Bezos and Sanchez's alleged affair, and suggests that it was its impending report - due to be published in full later this week - that sparked the announcement from Bezos.</p><p>"During a blockbuster four-month investigation, The ENQUIRER tracked Bezos, who turns 55 on Jan. 12, and secret lover Sanchez across five states and 40,000 miles, tailed them in private jets, swanky limos, helicopter rides, romantic hikes, five-star hotel hideaways, intimate dinner dates and 'quality time' in hidden love nests," the National Enquirer wrote in a story teasing its upcoming investigation.</p><p>Bezos has an estimated net worth of around $137 billion, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-mackenzie-net-worth-billionaires-divorce-2019-1">and news of his impending divorce has sparked fevered separation as to what it will mean for his fortune</a>. It's not clear whether Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos signed a prenuptial agreement or formed another arrangement regarding what might happen if they split. Hours later, the National Enquirer, a well-known celebrity gossip tabloid, claimed that it had conducted a four-month investigation into an affair between Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, a former TV host - and that it plans to publish the full story on Thursday. </p><p><a href="https://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/jeff-bezos-divorce-lauren-sanchez-cheating-affair-photos-exclusive/">The Enquirer says its reporters tracked Bezos and Sanchez</a> "across five states and 40,000 miles, tailed them in private jets, swanky limos, helicopter rides, romantic hikes, five-star hotel hideaways, intimate dinner dates and 'quality time' in hidden love nests." The front-page headline, the Enquirer revealed, will be "The cheating photos that ended his marriage." </p><p>Indeed, the publication also claims that it's obtained photos of the two "doing the dirty," and suggests it has access to "raunchy messages and erotic selfies - <span>including one steamy picture too explicit to print here." It says that the full report will include "more shocking photos of the pair," though it has yet to print any. </span><span></span></p><p><a href="https://pagesix.com/2019/01/09/jeff-bezos-has-been-seeing-former-tv-anchor-lauren-sanchez/">The New York Post also published a report</a> about Sanchez and Bezos' alleged relationship shortly before the National Enquirer did so on Wednesday. While the Post did not mention the National Enquirer by name, it suggested that the Bezoses timed their announcement to preempt the possible release of photos of Bezos and Sanchez.</p><h2>The President Trump connection </h2><p>Commentators have already been watching the divorce with fascination, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-mackenzie-net-worth-billionaires-divorce-2019-1">given what it could mean for Bezos' $137 billion fortune</a>. The involvement of the National Enquirer - which has a long-standing association with President Donald Trump - adds a new dimension to the story, with some already speculating that the investigation could be politically motivated.</p><p>Bezos, who is also the owner of the Washington Post, is a long-time critic of President Trump, and the two have a long-standing public feud.</p><p>Meanwhile, David Pecker, the CEO of National Enquirer's parent company American <keyword id="6354777" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Media">Media</keyword> Inc. (AMI), was <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/12/media/national-enquirer-donald-trump-michael-cohen/index.html">known for a long time as an ally of Trump even before he entered politics</a>, and the publication has reportedly squelched several stories that would reflect poorly on the future president. </p><p lang="en" data-aria-label-part="0"><a href="https://twitter.com/chrislhayes/status/1083146614951288837">MSNBC journalist Chris Hayes tweeted</a>: "Given everything we know about how Pecker's National Enquirer has functioned as essentially an arm of Trumpworld, this prompts some questions."</p><p lang="en" data-aria-label-part="0"><a href="https://twitter.com/eorden/status/1083156792258060288">And Erica Orden, a CNN reporter, noted</a>: "<span>One of the bylines on this National Enquirer story about Jeff Bezos is Dylan Howard, the AMI editor who was involved in AMI &amp; [former Trump lawyer] Michael Cohen's efforts to silence women who claimed affairs with Trump."</span></p><p lang="en" data-aria-label-part="0"><span>It's worth noting, however, that <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/08/donald-trump-national-enquirer-allies-defect-david-pecker-michael-cohen">Pecker seems to have flipped on Trump and is cooperating with prosecutors</a> investigating hush money allegedly paid to women with whom Trump had affairs, even as the <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/12/media/national-enquirer-donald-trump-michael-cohen/index.html">National Enquirer is said to have downplayed its coverage of the president</a>.</span></p><p lang="en" data-aria-label-part="0"><span>The National Enquirer did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. An Amazon spokesperson also did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. </span></p><p>Lauren Sanchez is still married to Patrick Whitesell, the co-CEO of prominent Hollywood talent agency WME. Whitesell counts Matt Damon, Christian Bale, and Hugh Jackman among his clients. According to the New York Post, Sánchez and Whitesell separated in the fall, and that she and Bezos "became closer" afterwards. The National Enquirer, meanwhile, reports that their secret relationship has been ongoing for eight months.</p><p>Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos announced their separation in a joint statement on Twitter earlier on Wednesday. "We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends," they wrote. </p><p>Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos have four children together. If you want to design your favorite sneakers on NikeID and get a personalized video of your favorite athlete with your design and the order confirmation - it is already a reality. These kinds of surgical custom designed products and services are the new normal, irrespective of the category. Any brand that still thinks it can prosper with the millennials by talking to all of them at the same time is basically trying to trend the thousand year old Yoda during baby Yoda’s pinnacle.<br /><br />And you can see it even in brand ambassador choices, luxury carmaker Audi once only signing global HollyWood sweethearts like Hugh Jackman (peak of Wolverine) &amp; Chris Hemsworth (peak of Thor) is now enlisting Stephanie Gilmore, the seven time world surfer champion and Masie Williams, best known from the cult GoT driving their electric models. The millennials want to feel the communication is realistic and made for them.<br /><br />Conscious: In a world that feels on the edge all the time, a sense of shared purpose can be an exceptionally underrated motivator for millennials. They were the first generation coming out of their puberty listening to the desperate warnings of climate change. While stories of dire animal extinction and water wars have been there for two decades, they are finally in a position to do something about it. So when they have to choose between two global sports shoe brands one made from ocean waste, another from regular synthetic materials, the preference shift is automatic. When for baby boomers likeability of the products is paramount, millennials desire corporations they can look upto and pride in the said association. Overnight millennial hashtag takeovers on social media can tell you, an ethically and environmentally careless brand will be bulldozered irrespective of the billion dollar revenues it might have clocked until then. Aerie and Rihanna's profitable lingerie brands rightfully promote body positivity and comfort over being seduction machines. At the same time, the once legendary Victoria’s Secret, still insensitive in gauging the evolution of beauty and inclusion, consequently had to close 50+ stores in North America and even cancel its annual fashion show over declining viewership.<br /><br />Just last year Coke’s bold headline read: 'Don't buy Coca-Cola if you're not going to help us recycle!'. Levis’ claims to have saved 3 billion liters of water till now and their corporate goal this 2020 is to make 80% of denims with their Water&lt;Less™ techniques. Fast fashion giants H&amp;M with their Garment Collecting programme promises to use 100% of clothes gathered and even give gift vouchers in exchange to preserve a more sustainable environment. Do they stand the conscious test of millennials? While Forever 21 went bankrupt last year, H&amp;M as per official statement went on thriving globally with 33 percent increase in India, Poland by 21 percent, in Mexico by 18 percent and in Russia by 12 percent. And while denim brand Diesel filed for bankruptcy last March, Levis’ went public the same month, entered<a href="https://fortune.com/fortune500/2019/levi-strauss/"> Fortune 500</a> and saw an annual revenue growth of over 13.7%. So yes, sustainable stands by brands can be both socially contributive and profitable.<br /><br />Community: Millennials work on two spectrums simultaneously; personalisation and togetherness, much more than any other preceding generation. As much as they would need to feel special, they feel empowered with the knowledge of shared interests. That's why Marvel Universe becomes the global infallible franchise of the decade while Xiaomi (approx. 3% to 30%) and OnePlus (approx. 4% to 40%) enter the pinnacle of their smartphone segments in a highly competitive Indian market in just 4 years. And that’s the beautiful fabric of a strong brand community, it can create viable, long-term fans who not only purchase more but turn into serious advocates impressed with the quality of service and value system. Another reason community building is so imperative for millennial brands is that e-commerce in 2020 is deal driven and opportunist. A pure black Adidas training t-shirt is available on two dozen e-commerce websites from anywhere between 10-70% discount. The alarming bit though is that the same is true for similar competition offerings of Nike, Puma, Reebok and Under Armour. Without an earned community, none of them can survive in such a cannibalistic mass market.<br /><br />In the end we are living in that stage of civilisation where below the layers of custom we all love to be a part of a cult. Gifting that feeling of belongingness is the key to become more than a product, become the shared 'experience' you keep hearing about every now and then. A cafe like Starbucks boosts walk-ins from the stay at home generation with a loyalty program that makes the music playing at the cafe available for download through Spotify, Lyft users collating ride points for in-store purchases and the occasional free Instagram friendly Pumpkin spice. <br /><br />You are a new beer, you need to socialise in strategically designed brunches with the right crowd. You are a tea cafe and you need to do poetry readings and book signings so that a shared community evolves beyond the listed product or service. As long as the word is being positively spread by your homegrown community even before your advertising agencies, you will keep growing 2020 or 2050. <br /><br />Connected: Harnessing the intricate bond between audiences and brands technologically and emotionally. If there is one thing millennials respect as much as black friday deals, it is a brand who is smart and knows where, when and how to reach them real time. And especially since most know (and approve if the overall experience evolves remarkably) they are being tracked 24*7 through IoT hotwords and their internet journey, they expect you to market to them in smarter ways. Precisely why you need to be clever, it is an open book exam and just knowing the definition won’t impress the reviewer anymore. Automation is the expected form of communication and each product should transform into more than what it used to be. Smartphones are mini DSLRs, smartTVs convertible laptops and even players like Dyson have patented headphones that will purify the air around. Connected brand relationships are forged on transparency, value and relevance, are responsive to trends and proactively encourage immersive and memorable experiences.<br /><br />Millennials are habituated to infinite information and reviews at their fingertips. You can’t work in silos with a “great product” anymore, if your competition knows how to trend his pizza bar or sneaker cafe they are the one who will be written about and the hashtags tailor made for. Your marketing via technology needs to be connected at all levels and soon enough you will see your audience gravitating towards you. <br /><br />Upon deep data mining, Vans sees that skateboarders are one of their biggest supporters and decides to host House of Vans pop-up locations at skateparks within major cities like NYC and Chicago. This gave skateboarders a feeling of exclusive belongingness whilst sharing thoughts with like minded people, listening to live music, and shredding. What was step two? Vans then promoted the launch of their new shoe line honoring David Bowie in these pop ups. <br /><br />Millennials are like those misunderstood artists who might come across as aloof in the first go but when stirred with honesty they manifest into the most passionately driven customers. By god, I hope to become the new face of Scientology," Letterman quipped.</span></p><p><span>"Don't kid yourselves, emotions are running high in this building," he continued. "Here's a video of the g</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">oodbye statement to staff that took place earlier today,"he said before showing a clip of himself blowing a kiss to staffers via hologram.</span></p><p><span>"Paul and I have been doing this show for 33 years, that's 6,028 shows," Letterman said on a seemingly serious note, before joking: </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Earlier today we got a call from Stephen Hawking, he ran the numbers because he's a genius. David Letterman cracks self-deprecating jokes in last monologue

<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The ear, nose, and throat doctor also reportedly <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/doctor-selfie-joan-rivers-biopsy-2014-9" target="_blank">took a selfie</a> <span>while Rivers was under anesthesia <span>-</span> a major violation of privacy.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span><span><span>But Korovin wasn't new to treating high profile stars. </span>The 56-year-old counts </span><span>Lady Gaga, Hugh Jackman, Ariana Grande, John Mayer, and Brooke Shields among her many celebrity clients.  </span></span></span></p>

<p>On September 4th, Joan Rivers died at the age of 81 after Korovin allegedly performed an unplanned biopsy without the comedian's permission.</p>

<p>After Dr. Lawrence Cohen, Rivers' gastroenterologist, discovered something on her vocal cords, Korovin, who wasn't authorized to perform any medical procedures at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, took over and began a biopsy. It was then that Rivers' vocal cords began to swell, cutting off her oxygen and leading to her death.</p>

<p>Dr. Cohen, who was also the clinic's medical director, has since parted ways with Yorkville.</p>

Joan Rivers' Doctor Is Under Attack On Facebook

"It was a movie I wish had come out when I was a teen going through many of the same struggles," he said.</p><p>So he went to see it again. And again. And again. And again and again and again.</p><p>And again.</p><p>In total, he says he saw "Love, Simon" in the cinema 17 times - 14 times of which he saw by taking advantage of his subscription to MoviePass, the service that lets customers watch one movie per day in cinemas for a flat monthly fee of about $10.</p><p>MoviePass has drawn scrutiny and speculation about the future of its business: Helios and Matheson Analytics, the owner of MoviePass, is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/MoviePass-boosting-the-box-office-despite-losing-20-million-a-month-2018-5">losing more than $20 million a month</a> as subscribers like Travis make full use of their subscriptions, placing it in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/MoviePass-is-losing-money-and-looks-like-kozmocom-2018-4">financial peril</a>.</p><p>Indeed, MoviePass has since limited customers to only seeing any given movie once at the cinema. But it still has a die-hard core of devoted customers, who often see more than a dozen movies a month. MoviePass currently pays full price for customers' tickets, meaning these power-users often cost the company $100 a month or more, each, while still only paying their $10 or so a month.</p><p>In a statement provided to Business Insider, MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe said: "80% of our members see fewer than four movies per month, however we know there is a segment of moviegoers who use the service more frequently. We're grateful for the support of all our members and love the level of energy and enthusiasm they bring to our great offering."</p><p>Business Insider spoke to these power-users to learn more about why they're so obsessed with MoviePass - and what they think of the company's future.</p><p>Spoiler alert: These people <em>really</em> love movies.</p><h2>'It has become a bit of an obsession'</h2><p>Roy Guthrie, a 47-year-old retiree, now has a simple strategy when it comes to seeing movies in the cinema: He watches everything. In the space of six weeks, he's seen 25 films, viewing everything available in his local cinemas. "Some surprises and some stinkers, but it has been fun. I will keep it up, as long as [MoviePass] lives," he said. "It has replaced a lot of my Netflix/Hulu activity."</p><p>At his peak, 49-year-old investor Michael Johnson was going to the movies with his wife 5 or 6 times every week. Now it's a little more sedate - the couple, who recently sold a business, "and for the first time in a very long time both have free time," go between 2 and 4 times a week, totaling 110 since September 2017. "It has become a bit of an obsession," he added.</p><p>That's about a $120/month of cost to MoviePass, assuming a ticket costs $10, and not including Johnson's wife.</p><p>Adrienne Taylor is a big, big fan of the recent Hugh Jackman musical "The Greatest Showman."</p><p>She said she paid to go see it 16 times - then used MoviePass another 10 times. "We love musical theater and we fell IN LOVE with 'The Greatest Showman,'" she explained. "We dressed up in ringmaster costumes - I crocheted top hats, circus performers - I also crocheted beards for us to be bearded ladies, we made friends of the other moviegoers and still keep in touch with some of them for other movie events, attended about 6 sing-a-longs and each experience was different and amazing."</p><p>Daniel Sullivan, a 39-year-old IT professional, likes MoviePass because it helps him get out of the apartment. He tries to go at least three times every week, and often goes with his partner or brother.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Tracey Trevino</span></p><p class="caption">More of Tracey Trevino's extensive stub collection.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><h2>MoviePass is making indifferent cinema-goers into fanatics</h2><p>Interestingly, many MoviePass aficionados rarely went to the cinema before signing up for the service. </p><p>Kristie Pyle had not been to the cinema in three years before joined MoviePass at the end of March 2018. The 43-year-old North Carolina finance professional said it "had been so long that I needed to figure out how to use the kiosk." In the less than two months since then, she's seen 30 movies. </p><p>Jeff Jordan, a 25-year-old fire protection employee in Illinois, said he previously went about twice a year, and hated how expensive it was. Now he goes to between 9 to 12 movies a month. He's seen 75 movies since signing up on October - costing MoviePass around $750 (assuming a $10 average ticket) while spending no more than $80 on his subscription so far.</p><p>Elsie Militar, a 44-year-old media relations technician living in the Bay Area, also signed up in October 2017. She previously went to the movies 2 to 5 times a year. Since joining MoviePass, she's seen 92 movies in eight months.</p><p>Alan Ling, a professor at the University of Vermont, has seen 129 movies since his first MoviePass movie ("Thor: Ragnarok") in November 2017, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Moviepass-holders-343029692827504/">and keeps track of them all on a Facebook page</a>. He went to the cinema 2 or 3 times a year before getting MoviePass; now, he said, "I re organized my life around moviepass."</p><h2>The service is also popular with people with disabilities</h2><p>MoviePass has also been a blessing for people with disabilities or access needs, offering a cheap activity that doesn't require much physical exertion.</p><p>Tracey Trevino, a 55-year-old veteran who is retired due to disabilities, goes 2 to 3 times a week. "I had to quit working back in 2013 because I needed foot surgeries, I've had 5 so far [...] and going to the movies was about all I could do for entertainment since I couldn't really be on my feet while recovering," she said. She's been a member on-and-off since November 2013, back during a period when it cost $30 a month, and has 491 movie ticket stubs in her collection.</p><p>A 31-year-old who asked not to be named and does not work due to disabilities joined two months ago. This person now goes around five times a week, and has seen 40 movies so far, they say.</p><p>Another customer didn't go nearly as frequently as many power-users - once every week or two - but used it to bond with her father as he battled health issues. He was going through chemotherapy, and she bought them both passes: "I wanted to help him get his mind off the treatment. The company says most users aren't power-users, however.</p><p>Of the service's popularity among customers with disabilities, MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe told us: "While we don't have any data to share related to members with disabilities, we are glad that we're able to offer a service that provides them with an accessible entertainment experience without a price barrier."</p><p>There is ongoing debate about the viability of MoviePass' business. It argues it will be able to monetize its users' data, and hopes to negotiate discounted ticket rates with the big cinema chains - but many investors remain unconvinced, <a href="https://qz.com/1269930/moviepass-parent-helios-and-matheson-hmny-is-incredibly-expensive-to-short/">and it is an incredibly popular short on Wall Street</a> (essentially meaning investors are betting against its survival). </p><p>Its power-users are split. Some are bullish about the company's prospects, and have even bought stock, but others are unsure how long it can keep on going.
