Honda Activa's new film aim to encapsulate the emotions of Indians who are bouncing back on their feet while navigating through the pandemic

Mumbai, Dec 24 () The country's second largest two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle on Tuesday said its BS-VI versions of Activa scooter and a brand new bike SP 125 have cumulatively sold over 60,000 units.
While the BS-VI model of Activa was launched in September and is available widely across the country, the brand new bike SP 125 was launched on November 20, Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India said.
It can be noted that beginning April 1, only BS-VI models will be sold as the country pushes to cut carbon emissions from automobiles.
From the new fiscal, all the fuels sold in the country will also be of low in carbon and sulphur as the government decided to skip BS-V and jump straight from BS-IV emission norms.
Accordingly, almost all auto companies have announced commencement of production of BS-VI models from next month and reducing output of the existing versions.
While the price tag for the new Activa -- the world's largest selling scooter -- starts from Rs 67,490, which is 10-13 per cent higher over the previous model, the new bike SP 125 is priced at Rs 72,000.
The new motorbike SP125 is powered by 19 new patents and delivers 16 per cent more mileage and also offers an industry first six-year warranty, the company said.
Commenting on the traction it has received despite steep spike in prices due to changes in technology, Honda's senior vice-president for sales &amp; marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said their new technology deployed in the first two BS-VI models comes with many patents like enhanced smart power (eSP) and ACG starter motor.
The new models come with many advanced features like significant increase in mileage, and an industry beating six-year warranty, Guleria noted.
"Crossing 60,000 units landmark a quarter before the deadline is a testimony of the confidence of customers on our new models," he said.
The new Honda engine is acclaimed for its enhanced smart power (eSP) technology, which integrates Honda's patented ACG starter motor (quick, silent, jolt-free start every time) with programmed fuel injection and reduced frictional losses, the two-wheeler maker said.
The new Activa 125 sports 26 new patents, and promises 13 per cent more mileage, an idling stop system, additional storage and special 6-year warranty package, it added. BEN BAL

Selling a whopping 1,338,015 units (Jan’16 to June, 2016) compared to 1,233,725 units in the same period of 2015, Activa has a clear 1.04 lakh units lead over the nearest competition motorcycle. The one model contributes over 15% to the country’s two-wheeler industry. To offer a perspective, that’s more than entire 125cc motorcycle segment sales put together!

We have already discussed our plans to bring new scooters as well as motorcycles this year. However, we will share specific details closer to the launch dates."

Honda Activa has a new competitor from rival Hero MotoCorp

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=hyundai+motor+india">Hyundai Motor India</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=honda+motorcycle">Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooter India</a> have brought changes in production of their vehicles in demand. 
 
Hyundai is making way to manufacture more <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=creta">Creta</a> SUVs in place of entry-level Eon hatchback. Meanwhile, Honda Motor has shifted focus from motorcycles to scooters like Dream Neo, Yuga, etc. 
 
Following the shift, Hyundai’s Creta already jumped to the leadership position in the SUV space within three months of its launch. Creta’s production has been ramped up by 50% from 5,000 units planned earlier to almost 7,500 units a month. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Honda+activa">Honda's Activa</a> has remained the No. 1 two-wheeler model for the third consecutive month in August. 
 
"We are changing our product mix as per the customer demand. That helps us in maximising productivity and profitability," Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Hyundai Motor India, told ET. 
 
Hyundai has over 54,000 bookings for Creta since June and the waiting period is of more than six months. 
 
The local demand is so high that Hyundai has deferred exports of Creta by a few months. 
 
Talking about <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=two-wheelers">two-wheelers</a>, Honda's Activa accounts for almost one in every two scooters sold. 
 
Honda sold more than one million units of Activa in the April-August period. 
 
YS Guleria, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Honda Motorcycle &amp; Scooters India, said the company invested in its factory last year to bring in flexibility of eight lakh units annually.

The new Access is powered by a 4-cycle, single cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, 2 valve, 124cc engine that churns out 8.58 BHP of power and 10.2Nm of peak torque. The new Access 125 also comes with kick start and electric start options. 
 
In terms of exterior design, the new Access 125 gets chrome finishing, and a retro styling. On the feature front, it gets longer seat, class leading under-seat storage and optional DC socket. 
 
The 125cc scooter will be offered with Front Disc Brake as an option along with alloy wheels, and is available in 5 colours.

New Delhi, Feb 27 () Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is recalling certain units of BS-VI compliant Activa 125 scooter to replace cooling fan cover and oil gauge. "In line with Honda commitment towards enhancing product quality and customer experience with the product, we would like to replace cooling fan cover and oil gauge in your vehicle as well as update your vehicle owner's manual," the company said on its website. It further said: "We therefore request you to bring your vehicle to the dealership for rectification, which will be carried out on free of charge basis."The overall process for inspection, due rectification will take around 30 minutes, the company said. HMSI recalls certain units of BS VI Activa 125 to replace cooling fan cover, oil gauge

New Delhi, Dec 1 () Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has already sold around 25,000 units of BS-VI compliant scooter Activa 125 and transition of the rest of the models in its portfolio will be completed in early 2020, according to a senior company official.
The company which has over 20 offerings in both motorcycle and scooter under different model ranges may not upgrade a "few models" to meet BS-VI emission norms considering their poor traction compared to other popular models.
"We had showcased in June this year our Activa 125 BS-VI. We have started selling it from September onwards. Already 25,000 units of the model have been sold as on November 15 and almost 90 per cent of our network has received it," Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria told .
He further said on November 14 the company has also launched its second BS-VI product in the market, motorcycle SP125.
"This is our first BS-VI motorcycle and has also started reaching our dealerships in the last week of November," Guleria said.
It is priced at Rs 72,900 and Rs 77,100 (ex-showroom Delhi) for drum and disc brake versions, respectively.
Commenting on the company's preparation for transition to BS-VI from April 1, 2020, he said,"In a step wise manner we will be launching the BS-VI line up. Definitely, it will be before the deadline and we are not waiting for the last month to complete our launches."
The company will be completing all its launches of BS-VI products in the early part of the last quarter of 2019-20, he added.
When asked if any model will be dropped from the portfolio while transitioning, Guleria said,"By and large most of the models will see their BS-VI 'avatar' but yes very few models may not be upgraded to BS-VI. But these will be very limited models, which are not doing well as compared to others." RKL ANU
