New Delhi, <keyword id="20108985" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindustan-zinc" source="keywords">Hindustan Zinc</keyword> Ltd (<keyword id="20256739" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hzl" source="keywords">HZL</keyword>) on Friday posted a 6 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,028 crore during the quarter ended December 2023, dragged by lower income. It had clocked Rs 2,156 crore net profit during the October-December period of the preceding 2022-23 fiscal, the company said in an exchange filing. On a quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) basis, the company's profit grew 17 per cent as against Rs 1,729 crore in the July-September quarter. During the quarter under review, the company's total income reduced to Rs 7,606 crore from Rs 8,214 crore a year ago. Its expenses were Rs 4,937 crore as against Rs 5,028 crore in the year-ago period. On the company's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer of HZL, said: "Hindustan Zinc has initiated the deployment of electric and LNG vehicles in its operations for inter-unit movements and finished goods transportation, thereby reducing the scope 3 emissions." Its CFO Sandeep Modi said, the performance "marks the company's fourth consecutive quarter of consistent cost improvement and the lowest cost in the last 10 quarters. We continue to remain focused on cost optimisation, operational efficiencies, working capital management, digital improvements and shareholder value maximisation." HZL's production of mined metal in the quarter rose 8 per cent to 271 kilo tonne (kt) sequentially and 7 per cent up year-on-year (y-o-y), driven by higher ore production at Rampura Agucha and <keyword id="20256741" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sindesar-khurd" source="keywords">Sindesar Khurd</keyword> mines. In the quarter under review, its refined metal production grew 7 per cent to 259 kt sequentially and 1 per cent higher y-o-y. Integrated zinc production in the quarter increased 10 per cent to 203 kt sequentially and declined 4 per cent y-o-y. In the December quarter, production of refined lead fell 1 per cent to 56 kt sequentially but grew 21 per cent y-o-y. Its saleable silver production in the quarter was 197 MT (metric tonne), up 9 per cent q-o-q and 22 per cent y-o-y. <keyword id="20006961" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sharing" source="keywords">Sharing</keyword> an update on the projects, HZL said its fumer and alloy plants are currently under operation after their commissioning in the last quarter, while a new roaster at Debari of 160 ktpa and Hindustan Zinc Fertilisers Private Ltd (HZFPL) of 510 ktpa for main process package is on track. The company generated a cash flow of Rs 2,097 crore during the quarter. Total borrowings outstanding as of December 2023 was Rs 10,111 crore. During the quarter, the company paid a dividend of Rs 2,535 crore. Hindustan Zinc is the world's second largest integrated zinc producer and fifth largest silver producer. The Udaipur-based company holds about 80 per cent of the growing zinc market in the country.

Hindustan Zinc Q3 net profit falls to Rs 2,028 crore

"The board of directors of the company through resolution passed by circulation on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 have approved 2nd interim dividend of Rs 6 per equity share i.e. 300 per cent on face value of Rs 2 per share for the Financial Year 2023-24 amounting to Rs 2,535.19 crores," the company said in a stock exchange filing. The interim dividend will be paid within stipulated timelines, it said. New Delhi, May 15 () The board of Hindustan Zinc (HZL), a subsidiary of Vedanta, has approved an interim dividend of Rs 16.50 per equity share for FY20 amounting to Rs 6,972 crore. Vedanta owns 64.9 per cent stake in the company, while the centre retains a 29.54 per cent stake. HZL has intimated that its board of directors, through resolution passed by circulation on Tuesday, has approved interim dividend of Rs 16.50 per equity share - 825 per cent on face value of Rs 2 per share for the financial year 2019-20 amounting to Rs 6,972 crore, Vedanta informed the BSE on Friday. HZL is one of the largest integrated producers of zinc and lead and a leading producer of silver. It has facilities in Rampura Agucha, Chanderiya, Dariba, Kayad and Zawar in Rajasthan, along with zinc-lead processing and refining facilities and a silver refinery at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. Now, the ₹40,000 crore ($5.7 billion) company, which has a monopoly in ticket bookings and catering for the Indian Railways, plans to split the stock. A stock split is the process of reducing the price, in turn, giving the existing shareholders more shares in the company. Investors expect that the economy will open up, people will travel more, as the vaccinations pick up pace and the pandemic peters out. The recovery is already visible in its earnings of the last four quarters. In its report in July 2021, broking firm Anand Rathi said the shares could worth ₹2,850 apiece in the next one year. <div type="image" title="IRCTC chart" height="900" width="1200" msid="84967721" hostid="261"></div> IRCTC is a central public sector enterprise operating in 4 segments, namely internet ticketing, catering, packaged drinking water and travel &amp; tourism. Aside from being the preferred portal for booking tickets, its subsidiary Rail Neer already accounts for nearly one in every two bottles of water sold in any railway station in India. It plans to commission four new bottling plants this year and that would mean more supply to meet the demand as it revives. Recently, in e-catering, the company has partnered with private tech platforms like travel portal Ixigo and payments startup MobiKwik to name a few. “Going forward, management expects to reach the pre COVID level very soon after the resumption of Tejas Express, increase in convenience revenue to 25%, capacity expansion of Rail Neer and the impact of price hike announced in catering will play out by then,” the Anand Rathi report said. New Delhi, Mar 29 () Metals and mining magnate Anil Agarwal has for the first time taken a board position on his flagship Indian firm, Vedanta Ltd, replacing his brother Navin.Agarwal, 66, who turned a tiny scrap metal business into a mining conglomerate, had so far headed the board of London-headquartered Vedanta Resources.The Indian flagship Vedanta Ltd houses its oil and gas, aluminium, power, iron ore, steel and copper business.In a statement, the company said Agarwal has been appointed "as the non-executive chairman of Vedanta Ltd".He replaces his brother Navin, who will now be the Executive Vice Chairman of the Board.The changes followed chief executive officer S Venkatakrishnan resignation. He was replaced by Sunil Duggal, current head of Vedanta unit Hindustan Zinc Ltd."The company will be run by a management committee comprising of CEO, CFO, CHRO and CCO who will take all key decisions collectively under the guidance of Chairman," the statement said.Besides the Agarwal brothers, Vedanta Ltd also has Anil's daughter Priya as a board director. His trusted lieutenant Tarun Jain is also on the board.Former Hindustan Unilever executive Arun Kumar GR is Chief Financial Officer.Anil Agarwal's other listed firm Hindustan Zinc Ltd is headed by his wife Kiran. He is the non-executive chairman of Sterlite Technologies Ltd, the only other Indian listed company in the group.All other group firms, Cairn Oil and Gas, Sterlite Cooper, Balco, Sesa Goa Iron Ore, Vedanta Aluminium and Electrosteel Steels Ltd are headed by chief executive officers.Ethnically a marwari from Patna, Agarwal came down to Mumbai as a scrap dealer in 1976 and went on to build an empire in copper, zinc, aluminum and iron ore. A school dropout, he founded Vedanta Resources and has been its Executive Chairman since March, 2005.In October 2018, Agarwal took Vedanta Resources private after paying more than USD 1 billion for the one third of the metals firm that he didn't already own.In 2017, he bought a 19 per cent stake in London-listed miner Anglo American through his family trust and sold it in 2019.Vedanta has previously stated that it would invest Rs 60,000 crore expansion of its zinc, silver and oil and gas business. Anil Agarwal for the 1st time takes board position on Vedanta Ltd

New Delhi, Jan 20 () Hindustan Zinc Ltd on Monday posted a 26.7 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 1,620 crore for the December 2019 quarter.
 Net profit in the year-ago period was Rs 2,211 crore, the company said in a BSE filing.
 "Net profit for the quarter was Rs 1,620 crore, a decline of 22 per cent sequentially and 27 per cent year-on-year," it said.
 Total income during October-December dropped to Rs 5,117 crore as compared to Rs 6,090 crore in the year-ago quarter, the filing said.
 "We have delivered good performance in a challenging market environment and are committed to maintaining the growth trajectory. We remain focused on our fundamentals of sustainability, efficiency, technology and digitisation to maintain industry leadership and deliver healthy return to our shareholders," Hindustan Zinc Ltd CEO Sunil Duggal said.
 Mined metal production for the quarter was 2,35,000 tonnes, up seven per cent sequentially on account of higher ore production and better overall grades.
 "Integrated metal production was 219kt (2,19,000 tonnes) for the quarter, up 4 per cent sequentially... increase in zinc production to 178kt (1,78,000 tonnes) while lead production declined by 7 per cent to 41kt (41,000 tonnes)," it said.
 Integrated zinc production increased in line with higher mined metal availability.
 The ongoing mining expansion, the company said, is in its final phase and on track to achieve capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum.
 As on December 31, 2019, the company's net cash and cash equivalents was Rs 19,513 crore as compared to Rs 16,952 crore at the end of FY'19. 
 The company's target is to maintain cost leadership by bringing in operational efficiencies and higher productivity through technology adoption and digital transformation, aided by completion of our key projects, company's CFO Swayam Saurabh said. SID

Hindustan Zinc Q3 net profit drops 27 pc to Rs 1,620 cr

<ul><li>Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) shares gained over 7% after the oil refining and marketing giant approved the buyback of 10 crore shares.</li><li>The second-quarter net profit of HPCL more than doubled, led by the surge in refining margins and inventory gains</li><li>The gross sales revenue stood at ₹61,340 crore and was lower than ₹66,165 crore of Q2 of the previous financial year due to lower oil prices.</li></ul>The shares of Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) gained over 7% after the oil refining and the marketing giant said that its board had approved a proposal to buyback up to 10 crore shares, representing 6.56% of paid-up equity capital of the company, at ₹250 per share. The buyback price represents a 33.88% premium over HPCL’s last closing price on Wednesday. In a regulatory filing on the BSE, HPCL said that the buyback remains at ₹2,500 crore, but the number of shares could be higher than maximum buyback shares (10 crore) if equity shares are bought below the maximum buyback price of ₹250. <div type="image" title="HPCL" msid="79055262" hostid="261"></div> Through the buyback, HPCL’s minority shareholders are looking to get rewarded. The company will finalise the details of the buyback in the next two days. Strong profit growth is the secondary driver The second-quarter net profit of HPCL more than doubled on the back of a surge in refining margins and inventory gains — which is again the other major reason behind HPCL stock rise today. Net profit in July-September came at ₹2,477 crore as compared to ₹1,052 crore a year back, HPCL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Kumar Surana told the media on a conference call. “The significant improvement in the profitability in spite of challenges including lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic was a result of strategic planning in refinery and marketing operation, containing the degrowth to less than the industry, efficient inventory management and effective production placement,” he said. Cheaper crude oil contributed to strong growth The gross sales revenue stood at ₹61,340 crore and was lower than ₹66,165 crore of Q2 of the previous financial year due to lower oil prices. The firm earned $5.11 on turning every barrel of crude oil into fuel in the second quarter of 2020-21 fiscal as compared to a gross refining margin of $2.83 a barrel. This included a $2.33 per barrel inventory gain from buying cheaper crude oil earlier and processing in Q2. This translated into ₹1,780 crore of gain. Besides, the firm also had a forex gain of ₹524 crore, he said. The company said during the quarter, 303 new retail outlets were commissioned taking the total retail outlet network to 17,171 as of September 2020. HPCL also commissioned 37 new LPG distributorships during the quarter, taking the total LPG distributorships to 6,153 as of September 2020.
