Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is looking to hire 150 apprentices with a stipend of ₹9,000 per month

New Delhi, Dec 11 () Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd on Wednesday said a pact has been signed between the company's management and its workmen on the revision of wage structure with effect from January 1, 2017.
 In a regulatory filing the company said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed on December 10, 2019 between workmen and the management on revision of wage structure from January 1, 2017 and productivity improvement and other related matters.
 The workers on HAL had gone on a strike from October 14-22 to press for their demand of 15 per cent fitment benefit and 35 per cent perks with effect from January 1, 2017 at par with executives.
 On December 2, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said in Rajya Sabha that the labour union had resumed work after the High Court judgement but negotiations were on between the management and the labour unions.
 The minister had said that the HAL management has negotiated with workmen and trade unions for their wage revision based on government guidelines of November 24, 2017 on wage policy for Central Public Sector Enterprises.
 The issue of wage revision has been discussed by HAL management in consonance with the statutory provisions and also keeping in mind the interest of the company, employees and nation at large, he had noted. SID DRR

Hindustan Aeronautics' mgmt, workmen sign pact for wage revision

Bengaluru, The <keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword> has received three "made in <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>" <keyword id="6706498" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Advanced-Light-Helicopters">advanced light helicopters</keyword>, customised for coastal security, from the <keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword> (HAL) on Friday. The Mark-III Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) is meant for coastal security. Out of the 16 Mk-III helicopters, HAL delivered three to Indian <keyword id="42407" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navy">Navy</keyword> Chief Admiral Karambir Singh at Aero India. The helicopters are fully loaded multi mission helicopter is fitted with an array of advanced sensors. This will augment the Navy's responsibility for coastal security placed on it by the government after 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed the lives of 166 people and left 300 others injured. The helicopter features a full glass cockpit with HAL's Integrated Architecture Display System (IADS), more powerful "Shakti" (Safran Ardiden 1H1) <keyword id="240487" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="engines">engines</keyword>, and a host of new systems. The Indian Navy had ordered 16 Mk-III to supplement its ageing and depleting fleet of Alouettes (Chetaks) - from HAL. These helicopters have come up with latest-generation avionics and role equipment. It is primarily meant for use in a shore-based role. The Mk-III ALH are also equipped with an indigenous low frequency dunking sonar (LFDS) developed by Kochi-based Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory. The sonar's units are being produced by state-owned <keyword id="91484" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Electronics-Limited">Bharat Electronics Limited</keyword> with a host of sub-vendors downstream. The aircraft has also a nose-mounted surveillance radar with 270-degree coverage that can detect, classify and track multiple marine targets. New Delhi, <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="Orion">India</keyword> on Thursday accorded an initial approval to defence acquisition projects worth Rs 2.23 lakh crore that included procurement of 97 <keyword id="6376012" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tejas" source="Orion">Tejas</keyword> light combat aircraft and 156 Prachand combat helicopters, in a major move to significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the armed forces. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, cleared the projects, at a time India is locked in a bitter military standoff with China at a number of friction points in eastern Ladakh for over three years. The defence ministry said 98 per cent of the total procurement worth Rs 2.23 lakh crore will be sourced from the domestic industries and that the move will give a substantial boost to the Indian defence industry in achieving the goal of 'Aatmanirbharta' (self-reliance) in defence industry. The DAC also approved a proposal of the Indian Air Force to upgrade its Su-30 fighter fleet by state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (<keyword id="68124" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="HAL" source="Orion">HAL</keyword>). The DAC further accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) or initial approval for procurement of two types of anti-tank munitions namely area denial munition (ADM) type-2 and type-3. The top body on procurement of military hardware also cleared acquisition and integration of automatic target tracker (ATT) and digital basaltic computer (DBC) for T-90 tanks besides approving another proposal to buy medium range anti-ship missiles (MRAShM) for the Indian Navy. The MRAShM is a lightweight surface-to-surface missile which will be a primary offensive weapon onboard various Indian naval ships. "The DAC accorded AoNs for procurement of Light Combat Helicopter for Indian Air Force and Indian Army and Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk-1A for IAF from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category," the ministry said. Though it did not mention the specific numbers, official sources said 97 Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (Mark 1A) are being procured for the IAF and 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) are being procured for the Army and the Air Force. In February 2021, the defence ministry sealed a Rs 48,000 crore deal with the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd for procurement of 83 Tejas MK-1A jets for the IAF. With the additional fleet, the number of indigenously-developed Tejas aircraft being procured by the IAF would go up to 180. "The AoNs have also been accorded by the DAC for upgradation of Su-30 MKI aircraft indigenously from HAL. "While procurement of these equipment will provide enormous strength to the IAF, acquisition from domestic defence industries will take the indigenous capability to a new height," the ministry said in a statement. "It will also reduce dependability on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) substantially," it added.

It was in the esteemed presence of India’s defence minister Mr. Manohat Parrikar that country’s home-grown basic trainer aircraft, called Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (<keyword id="1552167" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="HTT-40">HTT-40</keyword>), made its inaugural flight in Bengaluru. 
 The two-seater aircraft has been designed and developed by the <keyword id="86569" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Limited">Hindustan Aeronautics Limited</keyword>, and was flown by Group Captain C Subramaniam and Group Captain Venugopal, who took a 10 to 15 minutes flight at the <keyword id="68124" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="HAL">HAL</keyword> Airport in Bengaluru. 
 
The craft is aimed at being used for the first stage training for all flying cadets of the three services, and was flown for the first time on May 31. 
 As per sources, the <keyword id="15141" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> will procure 70 such aircrafts. 
 
 
Detailed design phase of HTT-40, launched in August 2013, was completed in May 2015 because of HAL’s internal funds after which it took another 12 months to fly the first prototype. 
 
As per HAL, the team that worked on HTT-40 programme is "young" and had an average age of 29 when it was started. Pperational clearance is being aimed by 2018, for which the company will be manufacturing three prototypes and two static-test specimens. 
 
The aircraft was tested amidst heavy rains as well, and successfully undertook wet runway landing. 
 
As per HAL officials, HTT-40 can boast of 80% of indigenous content, since more than 75 systems out of the total 90 used in the aircraft have been sourced from local players and sister divisions of HAL.

HTT-40, India’s home-grown trainer aircraft has successfully made its inaugural flight

The Indian Government is considering to handover project for improved version of ‘Tejas’ fighter planes to private sector for efficient and time bound execution. 
 
Fed up with a string of delays and design flaws, the government wants to rope in a private player for Light Combat Aircraft, or LCA, programme. 
 
Sources told Economic Times that discussions have taken place in the top echelons of the government to expedite Tejas programme. 
 If the plan gets a go-ahead, private players would have a potential order for more than 160 improved <keyword id="2942559" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tejas-Mk-II">Tejas Mk II</keyword> fighters that the <keyword id="15141" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> desperately needs to plug vital operational gaps. 
 The feels that the state-run agencies, <keyword id="139970" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hindustan-Aeronautics-Ltd">Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd</keyword> (HAL) and the defence ministry's <keyword id="139969" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aeronautical-Development-Agency">Aeronautical Development Agency</keyword> (ADA), involved in the LCA do not have the capacity to meet the order. 
 
"It is very clear that the LCA programme cannot be allowed to go on as it is. There are not enough resources available to complete the project in the timeline required. A private company would be accountable and would invest in the project," a senior official aware of the government's thinking told ET on the condition of anonymity. 
 
The financial daily reported that another proposal suggested setting up of a special purpose vehicle for the project in which DRDO and HAL, the entities now responsible for the LCA, could be partners along with the private sector. 
 
Meanwhile, experts are of the opinion that the improved version of the fighter jets will have the potential for exports also. 
 
"An improved version of the fighter that meets air force requirements would also have a good export potential. The numbers could go up significantly if India promotes it in and around the region as an affordable fighter," another official told ET. 
 
With the government ever received an order, each fighter would cost a few hundreds of cores of rupees, boosting 'Make in India' cause. 
 
Reportedly, the LCA was conceived in the early 1980s as an aircraft that would replace the Russia-made MIG 21. But, three decades have passed and the Air Force is still to get even a single squadron of these indigenously produced fighters.

Government is rapidly losing out on creating Low Combat Aircraft for India

Indigenously built Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) is going to make its first flight very soon as the developers have overcome a software-related hurdle, which was delaying the launch. 
 As per reports, <keyword id="3618825" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindustan-aeronautics-ltd-made">Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd-made</keyword> 3.1 tonne prototype LUH will replace Cheetah and Chetak fleets of the armed forces. 
The launch will take place in Bengaluru. 
 
"We are now ready to take the chopper in the air. All hurdles have been crossed and now it is only a matter of the right day when all conditions are good for a first flight," a senior official involved in the project told ET. 
 
The LUH is a military project and the works were on since 2008. The testing was done in 2015. 
 The LUH will carry troops and supplies to border areas as presently, the <keyword id="112134" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Armed-Forces">Indian Armed Forces</keyword> require over 200 choppers in its fleet. 
 
The manufacturing of the choppers is expected to begin from 2018. The chopper is powered by a Shakti engine made in collaboration with French company Turbomeca. A new production facility is to be built for the LUH project.

The HTFT-42 trainer aircraft has been kept at the HAL's Hall-3 here at the five-day aviation exhibition. Three days ago, the display came up at the pavilion eliciting curiosity among onlookers. As it hit headlines, the defence PSU removed it without citing any particular reason.
