According to a press release, the total consideration for this order is approximately Rs 981.45 Crores. The execution period for this contract spans from August 2024 to August 2025. MSRTC operates a fleet of over 15,000 buses. With this substantial order, Ashok Leyland buses will now dominate its fleet. These modern, fully built buses will comply with the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) standards and feature AIS 153 compliant bodies. The order, awarded by the domestic entity MSRTC, is for the supply of BSVI OBD II Diesel Fuel Type Fully Built Passenger Buses. MSRTC, one of India's largest state transport undertakings, operates a fleet of over 15,000 buses. With this substantial order, Ashok Leyland buses will now dominate its fleet. Interstate bus services from Himachal Pradesh to resume from October 14

Services of local trains as well as out-station trains remained unaffected until now, said Shivaji Sutar, chief public relations officer (CPRO), Central Railway. Leaders of taxi and autorickshaw unions told that their services in Mumbai remained normal. A spokesperson of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), which operates a fleet of buses in Mumbai and metropolitan region, said almost 85% of the scheduled buses plied on roads. Bharat Bandh: Public transport services in Mumbai, other parts of Maharashtra almost unaffected

The Maharashtra government has announced Rs 1,000 crore financial package for the cash- strapped <keyword id="58636" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra-State-Road-Transport-Corporation">Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation</keyword> (MSRTC) for the next six months, minister Anil Parab said on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference here, the state transport minister said <keyword id="488499" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deputy-chief-minister-Ajit-Pawar">Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar</keyword> made this announcement after a meeting with him and holding a discussion with Chief Minister <keyword id="53973" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uddhav-Thackeray">Uddhav Thackeray</keyword>. Parab, who is the chairman of MSRTC, said this financial package will help the transport body get back track and will meet expenses such as salaries of employees and fuel costs for the next six months. "The number of passengers (travelling by ST buses) is increasing by the day, and with the cooperation of staffers, the MSRTC's finances will be brought back on track. The problems will be resolved with the state's financial assistance," Parab said. The transport body had suffered revenue losses of around Rs 3,000 crore during the COVID-19 lockdown period, Parab said, adding that this in turn resulted in pending salaries. As announced a day before, the MSRTC has disbursed the pending salary of one month and festival advance to employees on Monday, and will pay pending salaries of remaining two months before Diwali. "The state government has agreed to pay state transport employees pending salaries till October 30, before Diwali," Parab said. MSRTC staff unions have claimed that two employees committed suicides at Jalgoan and Ratnagiri districts in the last two days, allegedly due to non-payment of salaries. The minister, however, refuted media reports that the MSRTC had acted only after these suicides, and appealed to employees not to take any extreme steps. Maharashtra government announces ₹1,000 crore package for cash-strapped MSRTC

Thiruvananthapuram, After a gap of nearly nine months, <keyword id="37181" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="colleges">colleges</keyword> and <keyword id="48403" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="universities">universities</keyword> in Kerala reopened for students on Monday with strict Covid safety norms. However, the <keyword id="6405739" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Classes">classes</keyword> will be conducted between 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on all days, except Sundays. Around 1,350 higher educational institutions including arts and science colleges, engineering colleges, law colleges as well as all the state universities and the lone central university in the state located in Kasaragod have commenced their classes. Only 50 per cent of students will be allowed in each class based on the strength, in compliance with strict Covid-19 norms. Parvathi Babu, a third year BA political science student of a college in Thiruvananthapuram told: "It's an excitement to be among the classmates and teachers in physical form after such a long gap. We were in virtual world for the past nine months." However, some teachers have expressed their discontent over the education department's decision to extend the timings of the classes. Thomas Sebastian, a teacher with a government arts college in the state capital, said, "Workload is very high and with classes between 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m., teachers are overburdened. Besides, conducting classes on Saturdays is also not a good idea." <keyword id="6423024" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="higher-education-department">Higher Education Department</keyword> Principal Secretary Usha Titus said that the new arrangement has been made to compensate for the gap and to ensure that the academic session continues normally. Kerala: Colleges, universities reopen after nine months with strict Covid guidelines

Bengaluru, The Karnataka government is ready to restart interstate bus services to four states and Puducherry and is awaiting their nod, a minister said. "From our end, we are all set to restart bus operations to these states, Telangana, Goa, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. We are also ready to restart services to Puducherry, but not Maharashtra," said <keyword id="6355002" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="transport">Transport</keyword> Minister Laxman Savadi. He said, the state government has already corresponded with its counterparts in these states and is awaiting their nod to resume operations after the coronavirus enforced disruption. Savadi said the neighbouring state governments are yet to respond to the letter correspondence. According to Savadi, the state government went ahead with the bus service restoration idea after the new guidelines emerged from the Central government, easing most of the earlier restrictions. On Monday, Karnataka government lifted almost all the restrictions it put in place for interstate travellers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic under Unlock 3.0. The state has discontinued registration on the <keyword id="6534327" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="seva-sindhu">Seva Sindhu</keyword> portal, medical checkups at state borders, screening at receiving centres in the districts, categorisation of passengers, hand stamping and fortnight quarantine. It also waived off isolation and testing, posters on the doors of the infected persons, intimation to neighbours and monitoring by <keyword id="49290" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="panchayat">Panchayat</keyword> or ward level teams, among others, for all asymptomatic arrivals. Only for symptomatic interstate travellers, it advised self-isolation and medical attention according to the latest protocol. The minister said the state will take some more time to restore bus services with Maharashtra as it is still reeling under the Covid pandemic. In all likelihood, Karnataka will take a call on resuming services to Maharashtra in September. Currently, interstate bus services have only been resumed to Andhra Pradesh.
