Private equity major <keyword id="20406282" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Carlyle-Group" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Carlyle Group" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Carlyle Group">Carlyle Group</keyword>-backed Hexaware Technologies has filed preliminary papers with capital markets regulator <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sebi" source="keywords">Sebi</keyword> for floating a Rs 9,950 crore initial public offering (<keyword id="19898327" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO" source="keywords">IPO</keyword>). The initial share-sale of the Mumbai-headquartered company is a complete offer for sale (OFS) by promoter CA Magnum Holdings, part of Carlyle Group, according to the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) filed on Friday. CA Magnum Holdings has 95.03 per cent stake in the IT company. Since the entire issue is an OFS, all the proceeds from the IPO will go directly to the selling shareholder, rather than to the company. Explaining the reason for going public, the company said it is aimed at achieving the benefit of listing equity shares on stock exchanges and carrying out OFS for the selling shareholder. If successful, Hexaware's maiden public issue would be the largest in the country's <keyword id="20078432" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IT-services-sector" source="keywords">IT services sector</keyword> since Tata Consultancy Services' Rs 4,700-crore IPO over two decades ago. Hexaware Technologies is a global digital and technology services company with artificial intelligence (AI) at its core and having a diverse range of customers, including 31 of the Fortune 500 organizations. It serves customers across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific (including India and the Middle East). The company manages its business through six operating segments -- financial services, healthcare and insurance; manufacturing and consumer; Hi-tech and professional services; banking, and travel and transportation. Its offerings encompass five broad services -- Design &amp; Build, Secure &amp; Run, Data &amp; AI, Optimize, and Cloud Services -- and delivers its services through AI-enabled digital platforms such as Rapid for digital transformation, Tensai for AI-powered automation and Amaze for cloud adoption. The company has 31,870 employees across 28 countries. Hexaware's previous promoter, Baring Private Equity Asia, delisted the company in 2020. Almost a year after the delisting, Carlyle Group acquired Baring's stake in Hexaware. As of financial year 2023, the company's revenue from operations was Rs 10,380 crore with a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 997 crore, and for six months ended June 2024, revenue from operations was Rs 5,684 crore with a PAT of Rs 553 crore. Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, Citigroup Global Markets India, JP Morgan India, HSBC Securities and Capital Markets (India), and IIFL Securities are the book-running lead managers for the company's IPO. The equity shares are proposed to be listed on BSE and NSE. Carlyle-backed Hexaware Tech files draft papers with Sebi for ₹9,950 crore IPO

HRTech startup Advantage Club to hire 100 people across Technology, Sales and Marketing in FY 21-22

Indian <keyword id="34499" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="private-equity" source="Orion">private equity</keyword> (PE) investments reached $70 billion in 2021 in more than 2,000 deals -- an 87 per cent increase over the volumes in 2022, a new report showed on Thursday. Indian investments grew by 96 per cent over 2020 (excluding the mega deals of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail). Much of the deal activity was in consumer tech and IT/ITES sectors. The two sectors combined represented more than 60 per cent of the year's deal value, at nearly $44 billion, according to the annual India Private Equity Report 2022 by Bain &amp; Company. The number of large cheque size investments also witnessed a significant increase and the year saw 11 investments worth greater than $1 billion with Flipkart, Hexaware and Mphasis being among the largest deals, compared to six in 2020. However, after an exuberant year for both deal activity and exits, 2022 is expected to witness a tapering in the pace of activity as the gains of 2020 are consolidated, according to the report, prepared in collaboration with Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association. "In 2021, the Indian private equity ecosystem bounced back from 2020's Covid-driven restraints, growing faster than most major economies, including China, with 96 per cent growth over 2020." said Arpan Sheth, Partner, Bain &amp; Company and co-author of the report. "This year, we anticipate a significant tempering of pace in investment activity as macro and micro trends converge, but see this as an opportunity for the consolidation of last year's gains, which should make India witness annual PE-VC deal values of around $50 billion more frequently," Sheth added. IT/ITES saw investments of $14.2 billion in 2021, growing by $10.3 billion or 255 percent as compared to 2020. "Indian IT is increasingly courting billion-dollar-plus deals, and the deal size and count is expanding with significant deals taking place in the sector in the last few years," said Sriwatsan Krishnan, Partner, Bain &amp; Company and co-author of the report. "While the valuations are tempering, deals in 2022 indicate that the sector will continue to get PE attention as Indian IT firms continue to demonstrate excellence," Krishnan added. IT has accounted for nearly 40 per cent of buyout deal value, and nearly 20 percent of buyout deal volumes over the last three years. In the most celebrated milestone for the year, exits worth more than $36 billion were unlocked in 2021, quadrupling fund exits over 2020's $9 billion. Strategic sale continued to be the most dominant route of exit, with nearly 50 per cent of all exits over the last few years, the report said. Indian PE deals rose by 87% to hit $70 billion in 2021

Indian investors lose ₹5 lakh crore as the coronavirus sweeps over the stock market

Amid rising concerns over H1-B visa, IT stocks fell around 4% as the US Congress introduced bill backing key changes in the H-1B Visa programme. 
 On market bellwether Bombay Stock Exchange (<keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword>), shares of Infosys lost 2.50%, TCS went down by 2.18% and Wipro dipped 2.18%. 
 
These three stocks were the biggest laggards on the benchmark Sensex that ended 119.01 points lower at 26,759.23. 
 
Among others, shares of Tech Mahindra slipped 3.80 per cent, Hexaware Technologies went down by 3.73 per cent, HCL Tech (3.55 per cent) and Mphasis (2.20 per cent). 
 
The BSE IT index fell by 2.54 per cent to end at 9,880.61. 
 
The top four companies - TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCL Tech - together lost over Rs 22,000 crore in market valuation. 
 
"Stocks continued the week-long surge, but with Q3 figures expected to flow in shortly, and with IT stocks bogged down by US visa restriction fears, profit-booking gained traction as the day drew to a close," said Anand James, chief market strategist, Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services Ltd. 
 
A bill backing key changes in the H-1B visa programme has been re-introduced in the US Congress by two lawmakers who claim that it will help crack down on the work visa abuse. 
 
The 'Protect and Grow American Jobs Act' makes important changes to the eligibility requirements for H-1B Visa exemptions was re-introduced by Republican Darrell Issa and Scott Peters - both from California. 
 
The bill, among other things, increase the minimum salary of H-1B visa to $100,000 per annum and eliminates the Masters Degree exemption. 
 
The bill comes after a number of companies - Disney, SoCal Edison and others - have come under fire for abusing the H1-B Visa programme to replace American workers with foreign workers.

Top 4 IT companies lose over Rs 22,000 crore in market valuation over H1-B visa concerns

Here's how the Software stocks are doing today

Shares of mid cap <keyword id="6354185" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="IT">IT</keyword> companies showed a firm trend towards the day's close as traders ramped up the broader market to a 4-month high. 
 
Hexaware futures gained 2.4 percent, or 6.6 rupees, to trade at 277.60. Open Interest on July futures rose 8.3 percent over yesterday and the stock showed a build up of long positions on the counter. 
 
Similarly, Tech Mahindra futures were in heavy demand with a 3.1 percent rise, they were quoting at 489 rupees. The OI rose 3.1 percent for these futures which also showed a long build up. 
 
Other shares exhibiting positive trend in the software space were HCL Tech, MindTree, Oracle Financial, Infosys and TCS. 
 
Futures of MindTree showed the highest rise in Open Interest, to the tune of 27 percent, ahead of its earnings. 
 
The broader CNX IT Index showed a 0.3 percent gain at 11,185 points.

IT firms are going strong as the day ends in Dalal Street

The <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> may remain in a consolidation phase with an upward bias as traders await the outcome of The Reserve Bank of India's moves on the Interest rate front on Tuesday. The crisis in the Parliament's monsoon session has deepened with 25 MPs from the Congress being suspended for obstructing work. 
 
Meanwhile, the SGX Nifty signals a 7-point gap down opening for the Nifty today. The central bank is likely to maintain status quo on rates but its commentary on the outlook for oil prices, inflation and the deficits will decide the near-term fate of indices. 
 
Global cues are flat. Major Indices in the US fell between 0.3-0.5 percent on Monday. The trend was mildly bullish in European markets with top indices adding 0.8-1.2 percent, except for the UK market, which fell 0.1 percent. Sentiment from the commodity space remains positive for Indian equities. Gold Futures slipped for a 2nd day, to fresh 5-1/2 year lows; Oil Futures inched up, while the metal complex remained weak. And stocks in Japan, China and Hong Kong are down between 0.1-0.5 percent. 
 
The Nifty Index closed at 8,543 points, up 10 points, on Monday. PSU banks led the advance. The index is now trading substantially above its 200-DMA, indicating that bulls are in control of the market. The Nifty has a strong support at 8,500-8,450 levels while the resistance is seen at the 8,567-8,637 point level. 
 
Sentiment is mixed in the cash market. Foreign Institutional Investors posted net buys of `350 crores on Monday, their first purchase in 6 days. In contrast net sales of `33 crores from domestic investors were totalled, their first negative figure in 7 days. The derivatives space was muted. There were net sales worth 188 crore rupees for Index Futures; Purchases of 463 crore rupees for Stock Futures; Purchases of `589 crore rupees for Index options and net sales of 49 crore rupees for Stock Options. 
 
Today's major earnings are from Bharti Airtel, Britannia, JK Tyres and Hexaware Tech.
