<keyword id="19948209" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="two-wheeler" source="keywords">Two-wheeler</keyword> maker <keyword id="19983534" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp" source="keywords">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> Ltd on Wednesday reported a 16.3 per cent rise in consolidated <keyword id="19933742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="profit" source="keywords">profit</keyword> after tax to Rs 943.46 crore in the fourth quarter ended on March 31, 2024, riding on higher sales. The company had posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 810.8 crore in the same period a year ago, Hero MotoCorp said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 9,616.68 crore as against Rs 8,434.28 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, it added. Hero MotoCorp said it sold 13.92 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in <keyword id="20028449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q4" source="keywords">Q4</keyword> FY24 as against 12.70 lakh units in Q4 FY23. Total expenses were higher at Rs 8,427.36 crore in the fourth quarter as compared to Rs 7,508.94 crore in the same period a year ago. For the fiscal ended March 31, 2024, consolidated profit after tax was at Rs 3,742.16 crore as compared to Rs 2,799.9 crore in the previous fiscal. Consolidated revenue from operations for FY24 stood at Rs 37,788.62 crore as compared to Rs 34,158.38 crore in FY23, it added. Hero MotoCorp said it sold 56.21 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in FY24 as compared to 53.29 lakh units in FY23. "During the year, our focus on product launches, network upgrades and customer satisfaction drove us to new heights. From the highest number of product launches to the expansion of new format retail outlets and upgrade at super speed, to a digital-first approach in premium, we set the building blocks in place for accelerated growth in future," Hero MotoCorp Chief Executive Officer Niranjan Gupta said. On the outlook, he said, "Moving forward, we expect the macroeconomic factors to aid the industry's growth. With commodity prices remaining stable, expectations of normal monsoons, and government spending expected to increase, we see multiple tailwinds for the sector over the upcoming quarters." Gupta further said the company will be driving market share gains on the back of launches in the premium and 125 cc segment done in FY 24. The company's board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 40 per share on the face value of Rs 2 per equity share subject to approval of the shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting, the filing added. "This dividend together with an interim and special dividend, marking the centennial year of Chairman Emeritus Dr Brijmohan Lall Munjal of Rs.100 per equity share, takes the aggregate total dividend for the year 2023-24 to Rs 140 per equity share," the company said. Electric two-wheeler sales declined in August 2024, but year-on-year growth continues

Hero MotoCorp’s revenue growth during Q4 came in at 11.9% YoY at ₹8,307 crore, while for the full FY23, it reported a growth of 17.7% to ₹33,806 crore. The impact of the triple drivers of its net profit growth during Q4 – price hikes, cost cutting and improved product mix – also reflected in the company’s net margins, which rose by 190 basis points to 10.3% from 8.4% a year ago. However, for the full FY23, net margins improved only a tad to 8.6% from 8.5% in FY22. "In the coming fiscal year, we have lined up a slew of product launches in different segments with an aim to strengthen our premium portfolio as well as premiumisation of existing models, which will help us deliver improvement in market share," he added. The company is also accelerating its EV rollout, with a plan to be in 100 cities within this calendar year, Gupta said. "Apart from exclusive Vida outlets in certain cities, we will be using our existing distribution system across cities to ensure wider reach. The recent price revision now makes Vida accessible to more customers, and we expect this will increase the EV transition in scooter category," he added. Gupta noted that the economic activity in India continues to build momentum with key indicators moving in the positive direction. "We do expect two-wheeler industry revenue growth to be double-digit in the coming year," he stated. Shares of the company ended 0.43% up at ₹2,514.05 apiece on the BSE. (With inputs from PTI.) TVS Motor’s Q4 net profit jumps 49% on year to ₹410 crore

New Delhi, The country's largest two-wheeler maker <keyword id="6357252" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hero-MotoCorp" source="Orion">Hero MotoCorp</keyword> on Tuesday said it has received 25,597 bookings for the <keyword id="17521994" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Harley-Davidson-X440" source="Orion">Harley-Davidson X440</keyword> till date. The booking window, which opened on July 4, has now been closed, and the new booking window will be announced soon, the company said in a statement. "It is heartening to see the confidence shown by the customers in Hero MotoCorp's foray into this segment. What is even more heartening is that the majority of our bookings are coming from the top end model, clearly indicating that customers are willing to pay a higher price for the right brand and right model," Hero MotoCorp CEO Niranjan Gupta said. This is just the beginning of the company's journey to win in the premium segment, he added. "More Iconic launches will follow soon, as we ensure our presence across the portfolio," Gupta noted. Hero MotoCorp said it will start production of the <keyword id="96419" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Harley-Davidson" source="Orion">Harley-Davidson</keyword> X440 in September 2023 and commence customer deliveries from October onwards. According to ED sources, the agency sleuths carried out searches at the premises of Munjal and 10 others. The source said that the financial probe agency action was based on the complaint by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) case against Munjal. The DRI team had found foreign currency from Munjal's premises, the source claimed. All these launches will spell good news, brokerages believe. “New launches in the scooter segment, Super splendor and Passion Plus are getting good traction and HMCL is ramping up Glamour 125 for rural demand and model launches in the premium segment should help market share gains,” said a report by Prabhudas Liladher. The 2W demand pick up The two-wheeler demand itself has been muted for years now due to a muted rural market. Yet, most players have indicated that greenshoots are being seen in demand with steady government spending in rural areas due to general elections next year. As the market itself grows, HMCL with its new launches is expected to grow ahead of its peers. There is a huge replacement demand market in 2-wheelers which is expected to push sales. A few quarters back, the company was seeing replacement demand of 4-5%, and now it has reached 10%. “HMCL is seeing indication of strong demand in the rural market and is aiming to grow ahead of the industry on back of aggressive model launch cycle across categories and gain market share,” said a report by Prabhudas Liladher. It is also expanding the distribution of its EV two-wheeler Vida. It’s already present in 36 cities, and the count is expected to go to 100 by the end of the calendar year. At the time of publishing this copy, the Nifty Auto index is trading flat while the benchmarks – Nifty50 and BSE Sensex – are half a percent in the green. India’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has delivered an 8% increase in sales for the month of June, as compared to last year, thanks to the improved performance of its SUV range like Brezza, Grand Vitara and Ertiga – which surged two-fold. Even as sales of its mini cars – Alto and S-Presso fell marginally, compact car sales like Swift, Celerio, and Baleno slumped by 17%. However, its overall sales are lower than Jefferies’ expectations of 1.68 lakh units in June. As per Anand Rathi, the company management expects 5-7% industry volume growth in FY24, and Maruti Suzuki volume growth in double digits. The stock fell around 0.8% in early trade. Tata Motors posted a flat sales of 1% growth in domestic sales in June. Jefferies predicted that Tata Motors will see a 4-5% YoY decline mainly led by lower LCV volumes. Commercial vehicle sales fell by 15%, even as passenger sales went up by 8%. However, Girish Wagh, executive director of Tata Motors says that they showed a month-on-month improvement. “For the month of June 2023, they were 20.2% higher than the vehicle sales registered in May 2023. Looking ahead, the promising monsoon and continuing infrastructure thrust by the government augers well for the CV industry, even as it faces the headwinds of high interest rates, fuel prices and inflation,” said Wagh. The stock too has been trading flat as it fell by 0.2% in early Monday trade. Mahindra &amp; Mahindra’s stock was trading higher by 1.6% as it presented a strong 21% growth in overall auto sales. The BSE auto index is trading down by 0.6% as of 11:44 am, with most stocks in the red. 2W sales suffer on tepid exports Bajaj Auto sales fell by 2% overall, but the fall is lower than expected as Jefferies predicted it to fall to 3.3 lakh on account of lower exports. However, the automaker withstood it to 3.40 lakh. In spite of it, the stock fell by 1.1%. TVS Motors’ sales grew 4% but the growth was lower than analyst expectations – leading to a 0.7% fall in the stock. Hero Motocorp stock also fell by over 1.7% after it reported a 9.8% fall in sales. The company however hopes sales will pick up in the coming months. “The onset of monsoon in most parts of the country and overall economic indicators bode well for a growth in demand, and industry The brokerage expects a slight uptick in demand for two-wheelers during the month on account of festivals and a low base of the previous year. However, concerns about weakness in the rural markets could drag down the overall numbers. Although the inventory level has increased to 25-30 days in March versus 20-25 days till February end, it has now come back to the normal level after three years,” the brokerage said. Sports utility vehicles (SUV) continue to be in demand, with waiting periods still being long. For instance, M&amp;M’s popular duo of SUVs, the Scorpio-N and XUV 700 have a waiting period of 3-10 months, and 2-5 months, respectively. Among the three players, Bajaj Auto has reported poor performance in the March quarter although it managed to grow on a yearly basis. Bajaj Auto’s Q4 standalone net profit fell 2% on year to ₹1,433 crore. Rising input costs and shrinking exports ate into the two-wheeler maker's volumes as well as bottomline, even as the company’s topline expanded by 12% to ₹8,905 crore during the quarter. In fact, analysts believe it may continue to underperform its peers because of weak presence in the domestic market. “Even so, we believe the company would underperform peers such as Eicher Motors (12% growth in FY24E) and TVS Motors (10% growth). Bajaj Auto’s underperformance is likely to persist owing to its weak presence in scooters in the domestic market, not to mention its large exposure to overseas markets,” said a report by Nuvama Institutional Equities. Stress of rising input costs in FY23 was clearly visible – Bajaj Auto’s input costs rose by nearly 9% to ₹24,073 crore, eating into its profits. Meanwhile, TVS Motor and Hero MotoCorp delivered strong profit and sales growth in FY23 as well as in the recent March quarter. Further, the company said that in the coming fiscal year, it has lined up a slew of product launches in different segments with an aim to strengthen its premium portfolio as well as premiumisation of existing models, which will help deliver improvement in market share. On the other hand, TVS Motor outperformed the other two and registered 67% on year growth in net profit along with sharp 140 basis points expansion in operating margin as well. After posting strong March-quarter earnings, the shares of the motorcycle manufacturer hit a 52-week high at ₹1,235, up nearly 6% on Friday. The management said that it expects to outperform the industry in both domestic and export segments due to demand recovery led by the premium and electric vehicle (EV) segment. “With supply challenges now largely over, we expect TVS’ outperformance to continue on the back of the ramp-up of its launches. Even in EVs, it seems to be ahead of its listed peers with a strong product pipeline in place for the next 24 months; it has signed up with industry experts and joint venture partners to emerge as a leading player in EVs,” said a report by HDFC Securities.
