Thiruvananthapuram, The <keyword id="260974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kerala-health-department" source="Orion">Kerala health department</keyword> issued a directive on Monday urging people to remain vigilant against the <keyword id="3155474" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zika-virus" source="Orion">Zika virus</keyword>. The directive was issued in response to the virus outbreak in the Thalassery area of the northern Kannur district. The department said that symptoms such as fever, headache, body pain, joint pain, and red eyes should be taken seriously. It urged the public to promptly inform healthcare workers if they notice these symptoms. "If Zika virus symptoms are observed in patients, healthcare providers must give them special attention," the statement said. The statement was issued after a high-level meeting chaired by Health Minister <keyword id="3296362" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Veena-George" source="Orion">Veena George</keyword> held here reviewed the Zika virus cases in Thalassery. Currently, eight Zika virus cases have been confirmed there. The department said if pregnant women are affected by the virus, there is a possibility of birth defects, such as microcephaly, in the unborn baby. Therefore, pregnant women in areas with reported cases of the disease should receive special monitoring, it said. The department directed doctors to conduct separate examinations for pregnant women affected by fever. It said the Zika virus is primarily transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, but it can also be transmitted through blood donation and sexual contact. The department called for an intensification of activities related to mosquito breeding and fogging. They also directed schools, households, and institutions in Kannur district to observe dry days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to prevent mosquito breeding.

A sign hung in the window of the 8th Avenue and West 37th Street store on Thursday that read, "CLOSED by order of the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene," according to <a href="http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Rat-Video-Dunkin-Donuts-Garment-District-Manhattan-Health-Department-253777831.html">NBC New York</a>.
The agency confirmed the closure in a statement to <a href="http://gothamist.com/2014/04/03/doh_shuts_down_dunkin_donuts_after.php#photo-1">Gothamist.</a>
"Dunkin' Donuts was closed by the Health Department yesterday because of a public health hazard that could not be corrected at the time of the inspection," the agency said. "In this case, the restaurant had a severe pest infestation that will require professional pest control services. They were also cited for other critical violations, including inadequate hand washing facilities and food not being protected from contamination."
Gothamist has also obtained photos that appear to show workers tearing apart the store on Thursday.

Officers can be seen with their guns drawn as they enter and search, pointing them in the direction of Jones and her family.Jones also alleged that her hardware and tech used for the dashboard were seized, saying on Twitter, "They took my phone and the computer I use every day to post the case numbers in Florida, and school cases for the entire country. Suspected case of monkeypox in Patna

However, the Maharashtra health authorities have now decided make a detailed report of such cases in the state, and guidelines regarding it will soon be issued to all the districts, Patil said on Wednesday. "Once such data is compiled on a real-time basis, we will have some idea about the actual spread of the fungal infection and how to respond to it. We can also allocate medicines and provide necessary guidance as per its prevalence," the official said. According to health experts, cases of mucormycosis are rising in the state mainly among COVID-19 patients. The immune system of such patients is weak which makes them more susceptible to this fungal infection, they said. "There were some cases of this fungal infection in private hospitals last year during the first wave of COVID-19.
