Thiruvananthapuram, The <keyword id="260974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kerala-health-department" source="Orion">Kerala health department</keyword> issued a directive on Monday urging people to remain vigilant against the <keyword id="3155474" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zika-virus" source="Orion">Zika virus</keyword>. The directive was issued in response to the virus outbreak in the Thalassery area of the northern Kannur district. The department said that symptoms such as fever, headache, body pain, joint pain, and red eyes should be taken seriously. It urged the public to promptly inform healthcare workers if they notice these symptoms. "If Zika virus symptoms are observed in patients, healthcare providers must give them special attention," the statement said. The statement was issued after a high-level meeting chaired by Health Minister <keyword id="3296362" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Veena-George" source="Orion">Veena George</keyword> held here reviewed the Zika virus cases in Thalassery. Currently, eight Zika virus cases have been confirmed there. The department said if pregnant women are affected by the virus, there is a possibility of birth defects, such as microcephaly, in the unborn baby. Therefore, pregnant women in areas with reported cases of the disease should receive special monitoring, it said. The department directed doctors to conduct separate examinations for pregnant women affected by fever. It said the Zika virus is primarily transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, but it can also be transmitted through blood donation and sexual contact. The department called for an intensification of activities related to mosquito breeding and fogging. They also directed schools, households, and institutions in Kannur district to observe dry days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to prevent mosquito breeding.

His health condition is stable, she said. Those who were in close contact with him, including his parents, are being closely monitored. It is the fifth case of Monkeypox reported in the state, she said. The first case of monkeypox, a rare but potentially serious viral illness, was reported from <keyword id="6357351" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kollam" source="Orion">Kollam</keyword> district on July 14 and the patient was discharged from the hospital last week. The second confirmed case of the infection was reported in Kannur district on July 18 and the third case was reported in neighbouring Malappuram on July 22. All of them, tested positive for the disease, had arrived in Kerala from abroad. The Kerala government, on Monday, had confirmed that the 22-year-old man, who died on July 30, tested positive for monkeypox making the fatality the first such one in the country. First Zika virus case detected in Kerala, says state's health minister

In 2021, she rode on her two-wheeler from Kottayam to Ladakh in 16 days, besides winning an off-road driving contest held at Thrissur. Deepamol has cleared all the driving tests required to drive an ambulance. "Women need not be confined to the kitchen. Instead, they should come forward to pursue any job and need not be dependent on anybody," she said. The 19-year-olds work as "defenders" at a nearby independent women's <keyword id="6354750" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="health">health</keyword> clinic, escorting patients through crowds of vocal protestors — often posting footage of their efforts and run-ins with protestors on <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@42069horndog">TikTok</a>. In their most recent viral clip, which Bauerle filmed and posted, Cueto reads the lyrics to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's hit single "WAP" in response to protests from Phillip "Flip" Benham. Benham is an evangelical minister who founded Operation Save America, an organization that opposes abortion, Islam, and homosexuality. Operation Save America confirmed to Insider that Benham was the protestor featured in the video. As Benham read Bible verses, Cueto read "WAP" verses from her phone. "<a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@alexthefeminis">@alexthefeminist</a> giving flip his daily sermon," Bauerle quipped in the caption. In just two days, the video has racked up over 1.8 million views and thousands of comments from amused viewers praising the women's "performance art."Cueto says she felt that Benham could learn from the lyrics. "WAP has gathered a lot of attention because it's a song made by women [about] reclaiming our bodies and talking about our own female anatomy, rather than what society is used to — men talking about women's bodies," she told Insider. "I figured Flip hadn't been exposed to the song yet and should hear it."The action was also strategic."We've taken to more aggressive counter-protest approaches as defenders," Nicole Ash, a founding member and media liaison for Charlotte For Choice, told Insider. "We're trying to deter them from reaching patients."Clinic escorts and defenders, she said, will read a variety of texts, including "So You Want To Talk About Race" by Ijeoma Oluo, to change the conversation and direct attention and away from patients entering the facility.
