It not only allows employees to set targets themselves but also offers them the flexibility to do what they want to do, as long as they bring in the results. The company follows a pod structure — called a ‘dream team’ where product, tech, marketing, business analytics, and all other teams work together in pods — which refers to a group having a shared purpose. The employees can introduce their own ideas and set targets. “We don’t believe in bell curve. The culture and philosophy of how we work is completely different. We don’t have things like OKR, KRA and KPI individually set across the organisation. We only have one thing, which is a team target. Salary hikes and appraisals The 11 year old gaming startup also breaks many traditional molds when it comes to appraisals. “From 15% to as high as 270% appraisals, we pay top of markets,” Jain said. “Everything is data driven for us. We do benchmarking of competitive companies which can poach from us. We see what they pay and then we pay at the 99th percentile,” he said. For new employees too, it focuses on the designation and not the remuneration at the previous company. The company has 200 employees. In fact, the drill to decide on appraisals isn’t the same either. It doesn’t let only managers rate the performance and make decisions. Every quarter, the employee is judged by 25 coworkers based on the company’s core values — data, ownership, performance, user and transparency. “If they get less than 7/10 rating on an average, they are given a warning. Two quarters in a row, final warning. This Indian startup offers as much as 270% hike in salary for a job well done

He turned his not-for-profit venture into a grooming ground for all entrepreneurs-- not just women. "I wanted to impact entrepreneurs in larger numbers. I started this to promote entrepreneurs. But there weren’t many women entrepreneurs,” Mariawala told Business Insider. Today, seven years later, the foundation has 500 entrepreneurs taking part in the peer group discussions but less than 50 of them are women. "Women's take on anything additional to office is very different and they consider it a tradeoff with their time with family" Archanna Das, Head ASCENT Foundation. Ascent is a peer-to-peer network that helps women entrepreneurs troubleshoot their problems through events and workshops. It periodically organises exciting, highly content-driven events like the flagship annual Conclave, Mixers, Workshops, Huddles, etc. They charge an annual fee of ₹10,000 from all the members to attend these events. “SMEs have a learning curve and we offer is a peer learning platform. We are playing a catalytic role,” Mariwala said. Right now, they have people with an annual turnover of up to ₹2,000 crore who are taking part in these peer groups. And only 10% of them are women. Mariwala still wants to help those who need help the most. He understood the issue and roped in Archanna Das (who is brand and communication management professional), and Shivani Divecha (who had curated events at TedxGate) for course correction. The team brought in stricter eligibility criteria and introduced the concept of initiator — a person who would initiate the talk for the first four months. The entrepreneurs — who want to become a member are required to have a turnover of ₹5 crore for product business or ₹1 crore for service business. They get access to the annual Ascent Conclave and other smaller events that happen from time to time. They also get access to a list of 30 mentors across industries who can guide them in dealing with their challenges including ex CEOs of prominent companies Ascent Foundation has also partnered with Stanford University and SP Jain to give their members access to certain courses on entrepreneurship. An Indian billionaire had to rework his philanthropic programme because there weren’t enough women entrepreneurs

They are heading for the exit door, with many citing a mixture of low job satisfaction and poor work-life balance. 
 
This change is seen at a time when <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+startups">Indian startups</a>, boosted by soaring valuations, are on an aggressive spree to hire new talents. So are these mangers hungry to start their own companies? Lets’ read and know!

Others to have quit the country's largest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=online+retailer+">online retailer</a> include engineering head <keyword id="6518849" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sameer-Nigam">Sameer Nigam</keyword>, who left in July. 
 Chief Technology Officer <keyword id="1937803" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amod-Malviya">Amod Malviya</keyword> transited to an advisory role in July. In February, Delhi-based Snapdeal saw its then CTO <keyword id="2049459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amitabh-Misra">Amitabh Misra</keyword> leave to start his own firm.

Seniors being relegated: Experts tasked with finding fresh talent for these high-growth startups say several exits stem from seniors being relegated when hierarchies alter. "Shrinking interactions with the founders coupled with decreased influence on impactful decisions are two most frequently cited reasons for individuals to move out of startups," Harish Kumar, founder of headhunting firm Wenger &amp; Watson, told ET. 
 
Volatile work environment, long working hours, and high levels of stress are also wearing out several senior executives at startups. "The culture of having beds for technology teams in offices can backfire and hurt emotional health," said a senior technology executive who quit a Delhi-based startup. 
 
Bid to lock in talent: Dissatisfaction with compensation is also leading to exits in several cases. Startups typically offer employee stock options aimed at locking in talent from a year to four years. Often, employees can cash in about a quarter of their holding after a year. "After that, shares can be redeemed on a pro rata basis every month or quarter, depending on the contract," said Seetharaman. 
 
However, this is only at an ideal startup. At several others, founders allow only a tenth of promised stock to be sold at the end of a year, with vesting periods rising incrementally to 40% at the end of four years. "There can be additional harsh lock-ins, which make the packages unfair," said the Delhi-based founder of an executive search firm who works with companies such as Flipkart, Zomato and Snapdeal. 
 
Senior employees are realising that they too have a chance of making big returns from India's unprecedented startup boom where the top Internet companies have between themselves soaked up some $6 bn of funding so far.

“2 States has a FANTABULOUS weekend. Friday Rs 12.42 crore, Saturday 12.13 crore, Sunday 13.51 crore. Total: Rs 38.06 crore nett. SUPER HIT,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. But for both the movies, the collections are hardly notable, thanks to very little promotion and near-zero hype. While Lucky Kabootar collected a little over Rs 1 crore in the first two days (Sunday and Monday numbers are still <keyword id="6357415" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="missing">missing</keyword>), Dekh Tamasha Dekh garnered around Rs 4.7 crore during the same time span. But we will take a closer look at these two after decoding the tremendous <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> success of 2 States. 
 
 
 With the <keyword id="6364416" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Good-Friday">Good Friday</keyword> fervour adding to its charm, <keyword id="2208706" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abhishek-Varman-directed">Abhishek Varman-directed</keyword> 2 States saw 50-60% occupancy at multiplexes on the first day and also did well in the mass belt. Till date, the best performers are Mumbai and Mysore, with Mumbai amassing over Rs 13 crore nett and Mysore collecting around Rs 3 crore nett.  Going by its <keyword id="1996031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-performance">box office performance</keyword>, 2 States seems to have done a commendable job, with <keyword id="6354526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Alia-Bhatt">Alia Bhatt</keyword> (<keyword id="2204646" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ananya-Swaminathan">Ananya Swaminathan</keyword>) and <keyword id="114453" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arjun-Kapoor">Arjun Kapoor</keyword> (<keyword id="2204645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Krish-Malhotra">Krish Malhotra</keyword>) showing a rare on-screen chemistry that rocks and sizzles. The young people meet at the <keyword id="6429635" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIM-Ahmedabad">IIM-Ahmedabad</keyword> campus and fall in love, but it is, by no means, a campus romance as harsh social realities await them outside. And the movie, too, stumbles at that point as we are led to <keyword id="122267" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="orthodox">orthodox</keyword> households (Krish is a <keyword id="5105" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Punjabi">Punjabi</keyword> lad and Ananya is a <keyword id="6356629" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="tamil">Tamil</keyword> lass from Chennai as all of you must know by now), instead of modern abodes housing millennial open culture, and two pairs of stereotype Bollywood parents. The rest of the struggles and tribulations faced by the young lovers follow the beaten path until the final-and-inevitable reconciliation that makes everyone happy. 
 
Interestingly, Bhagat’s work has managed to ward off the cliché that lies inherent in cultural clashes and generation gaps. However, the movie has an overdose of everything although it manages to retain some kind of charm that will keep you hooked. As Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV so rightly pointed out, “2 States is a <keyword id="2208734" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cross-culture-love-story">cross-culture love story</keyword> that strives to be sweet, funny and emotionally wrenching all at once. It is occasionally funny and sweet in parts all right, but the <keyword id="1204454" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="family-drama">family drama</keyword> at the film’s core has a severely stultified feel… It sets out to be a slice-of-life drama about a real couple grappling with the politics of <keyword id="2208729" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Inter-community-marriage">inter-community marriage</keyword>, but it fails to generate enough energy and warmth to draw the audience into a tight clinch.” 
 
In stark contrast to 2 States, Dekh Tamasha Dekh (starring <keyword id="317266" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vinay-Jain">Vinay Jain</keyword>, <keyword id="2218" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satish-Kaushik">Satish Kaushik</keyword> and <keyword id="1559" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="tanvi-azmi">Tanvi Azmi</keyword>) is based on a true story and ruthlessly reveals a nation’s <keyword id="2208740" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Political-hypocrisy">political hypocrisy</keyword> and <keyword id="877158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Communal-Disharmony">communal disharmony</keyword> with the help of its twin tools – satire and <keyword id="424300" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Irony">irony</keyword>. Too many human elements are woven here in a complex tapestry, but the very core of <keyword id="6355987" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="violence">violence</keyword>, <keyword id="6388475" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="tragedy">tragedy</keyword> and hopelessness would hit us hard and keep us wondering about the multi-layered reality we are compelled to confront every day. Although not a typical art house film, this movie is meant for a niche audience and offers a <keyword id="2208742" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gripping-tale">gripping tale</keyword> of the <keyword id="911828" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="dark-forces">dark forces</keyword> that we are not likely to forget in a hurry.

That wasn't the only high-profile disaster this year, as the industry's favorite social media platform <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-killed-twitter-irrelevant-meta-threads-debt-mark-zuckerberg-2023-7">devolved before its eyes</a>.And yet, there were still plenty of bright spots. Generative AI was a highlight in an otherwise grim startup landscape struggling with high interest rates and a nonexistent IPO market. But even those riding high on the AI wave had slip-ups. OpenAI, the biggest name in AI this year, dealt with a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/news-today-november-20-sam-altman-fired-openai-ai-2023-11">shocking ouster of its CEO</a>. And even though it <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/news-today-november-22-sam-altman-openai-return-tech-ai-2023-11">lasted less than a week</a>, the aftereffects <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/openai-cofounder-ilya-sutskever-invisible-future-uncertain-2023-12">are still being felt</a>.
