Lately, <keyword id="16129" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="HTC">HTC</keyword> has become really aggressive in the market. They recently came out with 3 new Desire series of phones, out of which we got to use the <keyword id="1969384" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Desire-700">Desire 700</keyword> first. And here is what this new phone is all about.<br />
<br />
<strong>Design</strong><br /> HTC has made some brilliant designs recently in the form of ONE and ONE Max, which made you instantly fall in love with them. However, <keyword id="1969231" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="HTC-Desire-700">HTC Desire 700</keyword> is not one of those. You fall in love with it gradually. At first, we found it like any other android phone, but once we started using it, it turned out to be quite nice. For instance, the matte finish rear is really nice to hold and does not let the phone slip away from your palm.<br />
<br />
The camera placement at back is better for taking pictures, as your fingers do not come in the way. The large 5-inch touchscreen is nice too. The body is all black with a dash of green on the speaker grills and on the rear camera ring. The power and volume buttons located on the top and side are well within reach as well.<br />

<strong>Performance</strong><br />
HTC has given the Desire 700 a decent configuration and the overall package is nice. For its heart the phone has a 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor. This is accompanied with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded by 64GB using a microSD card. Desire 700 can accommodate two SIM cards in it; this makes it a neat buy for people who use two mobile connections.<br />

While the rear camera has an 8MP sensor, the front one has a 2.1 MP to take selfies and to video chat. The 5-inch touchscreen is brilliant and quite bright. The colours are vivid and do not wash away under the sun or bright light. On the other side, it supports 540 x 960 pixel resolution that is low for a phone with this screen size. A better HD resolution would have been preferred. On the Quadrant Android phone test, this phone scored over 3,400 points, which indicates not extreme, but decent performance. As far as sound is concerned Desire 700 has twin speakers with amplifier.<br />

<strong>User Interface</strong><br />
Now, here is where all the magic happens. The usual range of desire phones has the HTC Sense user interface version 4.5, however, the Desire 700 has what its elder brother (HTC ONE) has – Sense version 5. Users get Blink Feed, which brings latest news from various feeds such as Business Insider and your social accounts under one scroll. This is also your default home screen, but you can swipe right and come to a stock Android-like home screen where widgets and app shortcuts can be added.<br />
<br />
People who have used Sense 5 UI before will feel at home. The new interface has picked up some good things from iOS OS too. You can club applications together in one tile just like the way one could in iOS 6 and 7. HTC Zoe comes to this phone as well. With this app users can take 20 burst shots and 3 seconds video to bring pictures to life. Something like the newspaper image effect you saw in the Harry Potter movies.<br />

<strong>Verdict</strong><br /> All in all, we quite like the phone. It gave us almost a day of usage in 3G network (under nominal use). The voice clarity is superb and we loved the nice sound experience that came from the stereo loudspeakers on it. Movies and games do come to life on this phone; however we were not ecstatic with the shots the rear camera could take. Day shots are good but lose quality in low light. Also, the phone is a bit heavy and one would want to pay a little less. If HTC had kept the <keyword id="459" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="price">price</keyword> lower than what it is now, the Desire 700 would have been the best phone around the 25K bracket. Right now to get your hands on this handset, you would need to shell out Rs 30,100. <br />

[Review] HTC Desire 700: Good Sound And Voice Clarity, But
For A Price

This year has been a super busy one as far as mobile phones are concerned. Almost every week we we saw a new phone from the Indian as well as international manufacturers stepping in. just 2 weeks ago <keyword id="16129" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="HTC">HTC</keyword> brought the ONE Max to India and now they are back again on the launch pad.<br />
<br />
They have brought 3 new smartphones for the Indian consumer who want bang for their buck. Aimed at the mid segment of mobile phones, the new Desire models from HTC do look impressive, but at the same time a little expensive.<br />
<br /> The first in the line-up is <keyword id="1969384" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Desire-700">Desire 700</keyword> (Dual Sim) that also fetches a 1 year theft and water spill mobile <keyword id="35450" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="insurance">insurance</keyword> with it. Priced at Rs 33,050 the phone has a 5-inch touchscreen, 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. It also has an 8 MP camera and 8 GB internal storage.<br /> Next in line is <keyword id="1969385" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Desire-601">Desire 601</keyword> that has a 4.5-inch display, 1.2 GHz Quad-core CPU and 1 GB RAM. Users get over 12 hours of talk time on this phone and the shape of the phone is inspired by HTC ONE. It is priced at Rs 24,190.<br />
<br /> The last to come is <keyword id="1969386" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Desire-501">Desire 501</keyword> with 4.3-inch touchscreen, which comes across as a more affordable HTC phone marketed toward the youth of the country. Available in three colours and designs this phone features 1.15 GHz Dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM. This one is priced at Rs 16,890.<br />
<br />
Both the Desire 501 and 601 will start sales by the end of this week, while Desire 700 will be available around Christmas in India. The 700 and 601, have got the HTC Sense 5 interface and BlinkFeed on them, however the 501 is on the older version of Sense UI.<br />
<br /> These new phones definitely strengthen HTC’s mid segment of smartphones. The prices could have been better, but they are giving <keyword id="6357050" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="EMI">EMI</keyword> scheme to the customers, which should ease some of the pressure.<br />

One Comes With Mobile Insurance

Today we saw three new phones from the Taiwanese smartphone brand <keyword id="16129" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="HTC">HTC</keyword> coming to India. One of them, (HTC <keyword id="2206605" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Desire-210">Desire 210</keyword> for Rs 8,700) has broken into the sub-10K bracket of smartphones. Till a year ago HTC had no plans to foray into the budget phones category. However, looking at the current scenario of mobile business and extreme demand from the Indian sub-continent, where brands like Micromax and Karbonn do extremely well in the budget segment, HTC has taken a step to come with less expensive smartphones.<br />
<br />
<strong>So what does this spell for the company?</strong><br />
HTC as a brand has been a pillar of beautiful and luxurious smartphones that caters mid to high-end mobile phone users. They are somewhat successful here and phones such as HTC One and upper end of Desire series has done wonders for them. Nevertheless, the company seems to be moving towards capturing the lower-end market as well, which constitutes for a large part of the smartphone user base in India.<br />
This should bring fresh funds to the company and as a brand they should be able to produce some new nice devices. Hopefully this does not mean that the company takes its efforts off the high-end phones, but diverts a bit of its time on budget smartphones as well.<br />
<br />
<strong>Will this model work?</strong><br /> Looking at companies such as <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword>, LG and Sony, who have phones in budget, mid and luxury segment, HTC with a reliable design, research and development team should not have too much trouble. Yes, this is a new playfield for HTC and we do expect the first couple of devices to be a more of a blow. This should not be considered as a negative point, as this will help them to bring better second and third generation of budget smart phones.<br />
<br />
The budget segment in India is on fire right now. With 3G services in place more and more people are getting connected using a smartphone. HTC can take its budget smartphones to tier 2 and 3 markets in India (and also developing markets) and grab a piece of the cheaper smartphone pie.<br />
<br /> Desire 210 is a start and we are hoping to see better low-end devices coming soon from camp HTC. Also, smartphones in budget to mid-end segment has done wonders for <keyword id="6354716" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Nokia">Nokia</keyword>, if we take India as an example. HTC can take a page from Nokia’s book and run with it. Our bet is that the new model will work for HTC, but not without teething issues. Our advice, just keep making pretty phones for the budget segment as well (with decent hardware) and wish for the dollar price not to fluctuate too much. <br />

Right Move?

<p>Tons of manufacturers including Samsung, Motorola, and HTC release several new Android phones each year, resulting in an extremely diverse selection of phones in all different shapes and sizes.</p>
<p>But having so many options can also make it difficult to find the phone that perfectly suits your needs.</p>
<p>Some factors such as design and screen quality can be subjective, but of all the offerings available today <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/htc-one-m8-review-2014-3">HTC's new One M8</a> is the best Android phone you can buy.</p>
<p>It costs $199 on a two-year contract with AT&amp;T and Sprint, and Verizon is offering the phone for $99 on contract. You can pay $24.40 per month through T-Mobile, or purchase the phone from any carrier contract-free for $650.</p>
<h2>The Best Android Phone</h2>
<p>When HTC unveiled the first One back in 2013, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/htc-one-review-2013-4">critics raved about the device</a>. It was the first Android phone that could actually rival the iPhone in terms of build quality. HTC's One phone is made of a sleek aluminum that gives it a sturdy yet premium feel, compared to phones from Samsung and LG that are either made of plastic, polycarbonate, or faux leather. </p>
<p>HTC has maintained that same build quality with its new One, too. Not only is the design polished and attractive, but the phone offers some of the best audio and visual experiences you'll find on a mobile device. HTC's BoomSound speakers are still unrivaled - the sound is richer, louder, and cleaner than any of its competitors. </p>

<p>The HTC One M8 doesn't have the best smartphone screen (<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-6-display-vs-samsung-galaxy-note-4-comparison-2014-9">that title goes to Samsung's Galaxy Note 4</a>), but it's pretty good. The screen has a 1080p resolution just like the Galaxy S5, and even though other phones such as the LG G3 have displays with higher resolution, there isn't much of a noticeable difference in everyday usage.</p>
<p>Although the screens on Samsung's phones tend to make colors appear more boldly, the display on HTC's One is crisp, clear, and large enough to make it suitable for reading, streaming Netflix, and playing games. Colors sometimes appear more realistic on the HTC One's phone compared to Samsung's since colors aren't exaggerated, but that may be a matter of personal taste.</p>
<p>The One M8 also lasts fairly long on a single charge, too. I was able to get a full day out of it when I tested the phone, and battery tests from <a href="http://www.cnet.com/products/htc-one-m8/">CNET</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/25/htc-one-2014-review/">Engadget</a>, and <a href="http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/03/htc-one-m8-review-an-unambitious-update-to-a-premium-smartphone/3/">Ars Technica</a> appear to match my results. It's not the same level of battery life you'd get from bigger phones with larger batteries (like the Note 4 or Nexus 6), but it's more than enough to get you through the day.</p>

<p>The One M8 comes with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/weird-htc-one-camera-effects-2014-4">a ton of new camera features, too.</a> Some of them are gimmicky tricks that you can achieve through third-party apps, but the new re-focusing feature was really fun to play with. In terms of image quality, the One M8 holds up pretty well. I've noticed that it sometimes makes images taken in bright sunlit conditions appear too light, but it takes better photos in low-light environments than the Galaxy S5 and second-gen Moto X.</p>
<p>One of the most important factors, however, is that HTC's Sense software is a bit less busy and easier to use than the skin Samsung uses on its Android phones. There's a basic app grid, easily accessible quick settings, and a Flipboard-style news homepage HTC calls Blinkfeed. In my experience, there doesn't seem to be much bloatware from HTC either, which is always appreciated.</p>
<p>HTC is also very consistent when it comes to software updates. In the past, it's ensured that most of its phones, whether it's the company's newest flagship or not, get the latest Android updates. Competitors such as Samsung and LG aren't as consistent and reliable about this as HTC. The company also makes sure it's own software features roll out to all of its devices too. For example, HTC recently announced that the new camera features introduced with its Desire Eye phone will also be available for the One M7 and M8. </p>
<p>In short, the HTC One M8 is a gorgeous phone with a nice screen, easy-to-use software, a great camera, and long battery life. It's definitely worth a look if you're in the market for a new Android phone.</p>
<h2>The Runner Up</h2>

<p>Motorola's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-moto-x-review-2014-9">second-generation Moto X</a> is also an excellent option if you're shopping for a new Android phone. It's also cheaper than the HTC One M8: AT&amp;T is selling it for $119 on contract, and Verizon offers it for $99 with a contract. You can also buy it for $500 contract-free.</p>
<p>It comes with a near pure version of Android, which means you won't have to deal with any bloatware or skins over Google's stock edition of Android. The Moto X's soft touch back and metal edges also make for an excellent build quality, although I still prefer the HTC One's all-metal design. </p>
<p>Ultimately, the decision here came down to the Moto X's camera. It takes fine images in brightly lit conditions, but its low light camera was poor. It was a tough call (and I should reiterate that the new Moto X is still one of my favorite Android phones of the year), but the HTC One's superior camera gave it an advantage over Motorola's phone.</p>
<h2>Want Something Bigger?</h2>

<p>Get <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/galaxy-note-4-review-2014-10">the Note 4</a> (if you're sticking with Android, that is). It costs $299.99 on contract, or $700 contract-free. </p>
<p>It has the best screen I've ever seen on a phone. And Samsung really knows how to make good use of the Note 4's large screen. The battery life and camera are both superb, too.</p>
<p>Samsung has improved on its Note phablet every year since the original one launched in 2011, and this is no exception. Although the screen size is the same as last year's model, Samsung's new phone is a bit slimmer and comes with metal edges that make it feel classier than its predecessor. </p>
<h2>How We Decided</h2>
<p>We evaluated the best Android <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/best-smartphones-2014-11">phones we've reviewed</a> based on design, screen quality, their cameras, how easy their software was to use, and battery life. While the HTC One M8 wasn't the absolute best in all of those categories, it ranked pretty highly in all areas and was the most consistent across the board.</p>
