Aspiring entrepreneurs will soon have access to education from international B School, thanks to <keyword id="4363988" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="european-business-school-hec-paris">European Business School HEC Paris</keyword> and Coursera who have joined hands to launch an online international degree program on Innovation and <keyword id="107737" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Entrepreneurship">Entrepreneurship</keyword>.<br />

Called 'Online Master’s in Innovation and Entrepreneurship program', the course is designed for present and future business leaders who wish to drive innovation within their organizations or launch new ventures.<br />

<keyword id="1017386" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coursera">Coursera</keyword> announced it has closed $64 million in a Series D <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword> round, taking the company's total capital raised to date to $210.3 million. <br /><br />With over 26 million registered learners globally, Coursera will use the latest round to fund efforts in its fast-growing enterprise business (<keyword id="3615516" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coursera-for-Business">Coursera for Business</keyword>), to expand its master’s degree portfolio, and to accelerate product innovations that take advantage of the platform’s unmatched scale. <br /> <br />In strong support for the company’s direction, the majority of the funding for this round came from existing investors—GSV Asset Management, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers (KPCB) and Learn Capital. Coursera just closed another round of funding worth $64 million

<p>The Federal Reserve is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/federal-reserve-december-rate-hike-odds-2015-11">widely expected</a> to hike interest rates in December for the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/federal-reserve-interest-rate-hike-delay-2015-10">first time in nearly a decade</a>, and the move is expected to have <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/federal-reserve-interest-rate-impact-consumers-businesses-2015-9">wide ranging ripple effects</a>.</p><p>One such ripple could hit the price of art.</p><p>In <a href="https://www.citivelocity.com/citigps/ReportSeries.action?recordId=43&amp;src=Home">Citi's new report on the global art market</a>, analysts pointed out that as real interest rates rise in the US, their index of art prices falls.</p><p>"Art and gold respond negatively to periods of rising real interest rates," Citi's Steven Wieting said.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><p class="source"><span>Citi</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"But macroeconomic volatility also harms art valuations," Wieting added.</p><p><span>"[T]here is a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/values-of-wine-stamps-and-art-since-1900-2015-11">clear link between art prices and the global economy,</a>" <span>said Christophe Spaenjers, assistant professor of finance at HEC Paris. A startup CEO claims his app can help students land a job at Aston Martin and Virgin

<p>The "Global Employability Survey" - conducted by French <keyword id="6355445" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Education">education</keyword> consulting firm Emerging and German market research firm Trendence - asks employers to describe their ideal university graduate and what schools would best produce this person.</p>
<p>21.8% of those surveyed said <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/28/world/europe/recruiters-without-borders-companies-scout-globally.html">an applicant's university was the most important point when reviewing them for a job</a>, and 45.1% percent said it was an important factor, the New York Times reports.</p>
<p>According to the Times, although the top of the ranking is composed of traditional academic powerhouses, this year's list highlights "institutions that focus on providing graduates with a broad skill set are winning more recognition, irrespective of their country or region."</p>

Global Executives Say These 20 Universities Produce The Most Employable Graduates

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>AP Photo/Alastair Grant</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Art auctions have been stealing headlines this week.</p><p>On Monday, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/a-painting-by-modigliani-sold-for-170-million-2015-11">Amedeo Modigliani's "Ne Couche" sold at a Christie's auction for an eye-popping $170.4 million</a>.</p><p>But art isn't just a waste of money. It's an investment, albeit a risky one.</p><p>"The global auction market for fine art has grown dramatically since the turn of the millennium, when sales were about $3 billion in total," JPMorgan Asset Management's Benjamin Mandel said.</p><p>He continued: "Since then, global auction turnover has grown at an average annual compound rate of 13%, reaching $16.1 billion in 2014. Not bad considering that the period was punctuated by the deepest global recession in almost a century. By way of context, in the same timeframe global GDP and exports grew at 3.5% and 8.1% per year, respectively. The art market clearly outperformed, even during a time of solid average growth in economic activity and substantial advances in globalization."</p><p>Mandel's comment was part of <a href="https://www.citivelocity.com/citigps/ReportSeries.action?recordId=43&amp;src=Home">Citi's new 60-page report</a> on the global art market.</p><p>Art isn't a productive asset and it doesn't pay dividends, but for the wealthy it can offer intangible value.</p><p>"Art may, moreover, also serve to signal one's wealth, status, background, or taste - or give access to a particular lifestyle (fairs, exhibition openings, auctions) or social circle (artists, dealers, collectors)," said Christophe Spaenjers, assistant professor of finance at HEC Paris. "Yet, financial motivations are relevant as well."</p><p>Indeed, art has a long history of being a store of value. And some pieces have seen enormous appreciations in value.</p><p>"Most - if not all - collectors care about fluctuations in the value of their portfolio, even if investment is not their primary motive for buying," Spaenjers said. "They may, for example, consider their art collection as a form of retirement savings or insurance against bad times. There is, furthermore, a fraction of art buyers for whom making profits is a goal in itself. A growing art investment field - art funds, art price services, art market analysts, art advisors, etc. - aims to meet the demand of collector-investors for both information and investment products."</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image"><a title_source="Citi Research" title_caption="" class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/564517122491f9ef2a8b4a63-960/collectibles.png"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span></a><p class="source"><span>Citi Research</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Spaenjers compiled the historical price-index data for art as well as stamps and wine all the way back to 1900, and he charted them against stocks and bonds.</p><p>"During this time period, art has clearly under-performed equities, but outperformed bonds and bills," he said.</p><p>He continued: "But the figure also shows that there is a clear link between art prices and the global economy. For example, some of the strongest falls in art prices were observed during World War I, in the early 1930s, following the 1973 oil crisis, in the early 1990s and after the 2008 financial crisis."</p><p>Regarding those other assets:</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">The stamp price index uses historical dealer prices for British investment-grade stamps. The wine price index is based on London auction and dealer prices for the five (red) Bordeaux Premiers Crus. Interestingly, the long-term performance of stamps (annualized real return of 2.8%) is very close to that of art. Wine, stamps, and art values have smoked bonds since 1900

<p>Want an easy way to help your employees become more effective? Ask them to spend the end of each workday reflecting on their performance, research suggests.</p>
<p>A recent study found that "employees who spent the last 15 minutes of each day of their training period writing and reflecting on what they had learned did 23% better in the final training test than other employees," <a href="http://hbr.org/2014/07/dear-diary/ar/1">the Harvard Business Review reports</a>.</p>
<p>The study, "<a href="http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2414478">Learning by Thinking: How Reflection Aids Performance</a>," was conducted by Giada Di Stefano of HEC Paris, Francesca Gino and Gary P. Pisano of Harvard Business School, and Bradley Staats of the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.</p>
<p>It found that employees who practice a skill and then reflect on their progress learn it better than those who just practiced.</p>
<p>If you have new employees or want a team-building exercise, you can use <strong>the "Dear Diary" technique</strong>, <a href="http://hbr.org/2014/07/dear-diary/ar/1">as the Harvard Business Review calls it</a>, with your team. Employees simply spend 15 minutes or less at the end of the day writing one or two short paragraphs about how well they performed that day and what they learned. You can customize it by using a rating system, where they rate their performance on a scale from 1-5 or 1-10.</p>
<p>Asking them to share the results with you or the team can aid communication, but the researchers noted that employees who shared their results did not perform significantly better than those who only reflected by themselves.</p>
<p>To draw this conclusion, the researchers performed two experiments in a lab, where paid participants solved brain teasers. In both cases, the employees who were told to reflect on the strategy they used to solve the first problem did better than those who didn't. Those who both reflected and explained their techniques to other participants also did better than those who did nothing extra but had essentially the same results as those who only reflected, within the margin of error.</p>
<p>Then the team decided to test their findings in a real-world setting. They went to Wipro BPO, a leading business-process outsourcing company in India.</p>
<p>At the end of employee training, Wipro gives new employees a test, which is graded on a scale of 0-100. The employees who took 15 minutes to reflect at the end of training for 10 days scored 23% higher on average than those who didn't. Those who both reflected and shared their reflections with fellow trainees scored 25% higher than those who didn't, but the team determined this difference to be negligible.</p>
<p>The research team notes that the findings can be used to improve employee performance even when they progress beyond trainees.</p>

UT Austin's professors are top notch and I learned the fundamentals and the skills to launch my first health technology company during the first year of my EMBA."</p><h1>7. <a href="http://www.emba-global.com">London Business School's Executive MBAs</a></h1><p>London Business School (LBS), ranked No. 8 globally by the Financial Times for EMBA programs in 2019, offers several executive MBA programs, including <a href="https://www.london.edu/masters-degrees/executive-mba-london">Executive MBA London</a>, <a href="https://www.london.edu/masters-degrees/executive-mba-dubai">Executive MBA Dubai</a>, <a href="http://www.emba-global.com/americasandeurope.html#.XfCCni3Mxyo">EMBA- Global Americas &amp; Europe</a>, and <a href="http://www.emba-global.com/asia.html#.XfCCsi3Mxyo">EMBA-Global Asia</a>. The school's website notes that there are more than <a href="https://www.london.edu/masters-degrees/executive-mba-london/programme-content/learning-experience">20 nationalities</a> in the current London EMBA class. The program takes 20 months to complete and features a mix of group work through pre-assigned study groups, as well as private study and assessment that includes individual projects, exams, and class presentations.</p><p class="source"><span>Hiba Beydoun</span></p><p class="caption">Hiba Beydoun.</p><p>"The two-year program is rich with various academic and working experience[s], and most importantly full of networking opportunities and industry event engagements," said Hiba Beydoun, a founder and consultant at Bey Consulting and 2015 graduate of London Business School's EMBA program. "One of the reasons that LBS was my No. 1 choice is the international reach of the program, from cohort selection [and] professors to international assignments and global elective courses. I personally did my international assignment stint in Cape Town working alongside students from across the world, where we consulted on a real-life issue for a national company in South Africa - indeed an amazing experience." </p><h1>8. The <a href="https://www.esade.edu/en/programmes/mba/executivemba">ESADE Executive MBA</a> at Ramon Llull University's ESADE Business School</h1><p>ESADE's Executive MBA program, ranked No. 17 globally by the <a href="https://www.topmba.com/emba-rankings/global/2019">QS "World University Rankings</a>," identifies its learning model as a differentiating factor, which features a range of teaching tools, from real-life case studies and simulations to speed meeting and executive forums. The EMBA program is based on a partnership between ESADE and Aalto University Executive Education, which the school's website describes as combining "Barcelona's entrepreneurial spirit plus the Finnish passion for innovation and design thinking." An executive MBA allows you to complete business school while working full time. Here are 8 of the best programs out there.

<keyword id="68635" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="London-Business-School">London Business School</keyword> needs no introduction. Along with <keyword id="6384930" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="INSEAD">INSEAD</keyword>, it is considered one of the top two MBA programmes outside the <keyword id="6356955" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="united-states">United States</keyword>. Just pick up any <keyword id="107736" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Business-school">business school</keyword> rankings and you will see it is quite rare when <keyword id="6354968" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="London">London</keyword> Business School has not made it to the list of top 10 B-schools globally. The school offers a great programme, has a formidable alumni network and because of its location in the <keyword id="24479" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="heart">heart</keyword> of London, has strong ties with the financial industry.<br />
 <br /> But of late, I have increasingly observed that many of my best students are either not applying to LBS or keeping it as a ‘safe’ option. The five schools that mostly make it to the list of the top Indian students are <keyword id="53675" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="harvard">Harvard</keyword>, <keyword id="33081" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Stanford">Stanford</keyword>, Wharton, INSEAD and <keyword id="6357276" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="ISB">ISB</keyword>. Sometimes LBS makes it to their list; at other times, it doesn’t. I’ve also observed that 7 out of 10 times, when students have offers from both INSEAD and LBS, they end up choosing INSEAD. This probably isn’t good news for LBS and if the trend continues, it may suffer the same fate that Wharton has suffered over the past few years. Wharton’s application volumes have decreased 17% in the last 5 years and the acceptance rates have increased 22%, almost double the acceptance rates for <keyword id="149127" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="HBS">HBS</keyword> and Stanford.<br />
 <br />
I regularly speak to many students to understand why they are more interested in attending schools other than LBS and I see three primary reasons.<br />
 <br /> 1. Applicants view LBS as the go-to school only for <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="finance">finance</keyword>. If a student is keen on pursuing a career in investment banking, he feels that LBS will open a lot of opportunities for him but otherwise, he doesn’t know what other doors LBS can open for him. Post the financial crisis of 2009, students are increasingly interested in pursuing careers in technology and <keyword id="107737" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Entrepreneurship">entrepreneurship</keyword>. But LBS hasn’t done much to position itself as a school that provides a launch pad to students interested in pursuing diverse career choices. While schools such as HBS and Wharton have revamped their curricula to reflect the changing market dynamics and are consistently delivering the message that they are breeding more entrepreneurs than ever, LBS has been slow in its rebranding efforts.<br />
 <br /> 2. Another reason for declining interest (among the best applicant pool) in LBS’s MBA is the rapid emergence of its close rival INSEAD over the past few years. With a new campus in <keyword id="63248" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Abu-Dhabi">Abu Dhabi</keyword> besides the existing campuses in France and Singapore, INSEAD’s MBA programme is aggressively delivering a consistent message that it is a highly international school that helps its students launch a global career in whatever field they choose. Apart from being a consulting juggernaut, INSEAD has one of the best entrepreneurship programmes and is strong in luxury goods and retail, too. Since many students enter MBA programmes to explore new careers, they feel that they should rather be at INSEAD where they have access to diverse career opportunities, than at LBS where they will be primarily restricted to finance.<br />
 <br />
3. The third reason is the emergence of Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, as a strong choice for Indians who form the largest pool of MBA applicants outside the United States. A lot of Indian students are staying back to join ISB even when they get through to LBS. Since ISB is a partner school of LBS, many professors from LBS come to teach here and applicants think it doesn’t make much sense for them to go to LBS and spend around $130,000 doing an MBA there, especially when the EU and the UK visa rules have made it even more difficult for non-EU students to secure jobs in Europe.<br />
 <br />
In spite of all this, I’m still very bullish on LBS for two reasons. I believe that the programme is next to none and its problems are more related to its stereotypical image of a finance school, rather than any fundamental problem with the school itself. I also believe that the biggest parameter for a top school is how successful the school’s alumni have been. LBS boasts some formidable and highly successful alumni. Thirdly, LBS is one of the most recognised brands globally. It takes decades for business schools to build a strong global brand and the fact is that most in Asia or the rest of the world would not recognise what INSEAD or HEC Paris is, but most would know what LBS is. In short, the LBS brand is here to stay.<br />
 <br />
The question is – can it change its stereotypical image? I believe it definitely can. The school can take cue from HBS, Stanford and Wharton, which in recent years, have revamped their websites and changed their value propositions to prospective students to reflect changing market dynamics and student aspirations. LBS’s website is minimalistic right now and I believe it could do much better by highlighting its strengths in areas other than finance. For example, LBS has one of the best programmes for entrepreneurship and the faculty has absolutely stellar credentials. But the website doesn’t do much to highlight this.<br />
 <br />
I also think LBS has a strong brand and it is not going anywhere. But then, if it doesn’t evolve with the changing times, it may soon find itself losing better quality students to its rivals such as INSEAD. Having said that, I believe that LBS will soon follow the footsteps of its American counterparts to position itself as a programme where students do amazing things and a programme that is in sync with the changing aspirants of students.<br />
