In comparison, the asset management firm posted a PAT of ₹314.2 crore in the year-ago period, <keyword id="45123" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hdfc" source="Orion">HDFC</keyword> AMC said in a regulatory filing. Revenue from operations rose 10% to ₹574.5 crore in the quarter under review, from ₹521.6 crore in the April-June quarter of the preceding fiscal. With a market share of 11.3 %, HDFC AMC's average assets under management (AAUM) grew to ₹ 4.86 lakh crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2023 from ₹ 4.15 lakh crore in the year-ago period. The company serves a mutual fund customer base of 71 lakh individuals, with a total of 122 lakh live accounts. Shares of HDFC AMC settled marginally lower at ₹ 2,498.15 apiece on the BSE.

The brokerage house downgraded the rating on the company’s stock to ‘Add’ from ‘Buy’. As a result, shares of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC have been the top loser among its peers, slipping 21% in 2023 so far. Rival HDFC Asset Management Company posted a sequential 2% rise in profit to ₹376 crore in the March quarter while its revenue fell 3% to ₹541 crore. However, in the case of HDFC AMC, analysts feel that the impact of the total expense ratio (TER) changes on the company’s stock may be limited due to strong AUM growth and potential benefits from its HDFC Bank parentage. As per the proposed changes in the Finance Bill, investors in debt funds will have to pay tax according to their income slabs. Investors had so far benefited from indexation while calculating long-term capital gains from debt funds but this will now longer be available effective 1 April. Adding to it, as per reports, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is considering taking action against big fund houses that charge very high expense ratios from their customers. Currently as per SEBI’s rules, mutual funds can charge a total expense ratio (TER) of up to 2.25%, if the AUM reaches ₹500 crore. However, the regulator might now reduce this expense amount to benefit investors. Also, since distributors earn more commission by selling new funds, there are cases of mis-selling. Mutual fund company stocks bleed this year, thanks to tax hit on debt funds and strict expense ratio norms

After opening over 100 points lower, the 30-share Sensex recovered the losses and gained 100.22 points or 0.17 per cent to trade higher at 60,159.28. In the previous session, the 30-share index jumped 381.23 points or 0.64 per cent to close at 60,059.06, and Nifty rose 104.85 points or 0.59 per cent to its fresh closing peak of 17,895.20. New Delhi, May 9 () HDFC Asset Management Company on Saturday reported a 9 per cent drop in profit-after-tax at Rs 250 crore for the three months ended March 2020.In comparison, it had posted a profit-after-tax of Rs 276.17 crore in the year-ago period, HDFC AMC said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.Its total income declined to Rs 449.62 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2020 from Rs 547.67 crore in the same period a year ago."The board of directors has proposed a final dividend of Rs 28 per equity share for the year ended March 31, 2020, subject to the approval of the shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting," the company said.The average assets under management of the fund house increased to Rs 3.7 lakh crore as of March 31, 2020 compared to Rs 3.42 lakh crore as on March 31, 2019.For the entire fiscal 2019-20, the fund house profit-after-tax surged 36 per cent to Rs 1,262.41 crore from Rs 930.6 crore in the preceding fiscal.Its total income rose to Rs 2,143.43 crore for 2019-20 from Rs 2,096.78 crore in the preceding fiscal. HDFC AMC Q4 profit-after-tax drops 9 pc to Rs 250 cr

<ul><li>Market regulator <keyword id="35210" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi" source="Orion">SEBI</keyword> has recently suggested making TER (<keyword id="1479961" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="total-expense-ratio" source="Orion">total expense ratio</keyword>) all inclusive with taxes, transaction and brokerage costs, etc. </li><li>This proposal has sparked concerns about the potential impact on the profitability of asset management companies (AMC)s. </li><li>The ability of a fund to generate positive alpha is a significant factor in influencing both direct, and intermediated flows. </li></ul>Investors are concerned that a high pass-through of TER (total expense ratio) cut with distributors can majorly affect AUM (asset under management) growth of AMCs. However, according to a report released by Kotak Institutional Equities, the AUM is expected to be safeguarded against induced churn, as the frenzy seen during new fund offers (NFO) is unlikely to be repeated. TER is a measure used in the investment industry to calculate the total cost incurred by a mutual fund in managing, and operating the fund. TER includes various expenses such as management fees, administrative costs, distribution charges, and other operating expenses associated with running the fund. The market regulator has recently suggested a proposal to include taxes, transaction costs, brokerage fees, and other related expenses in the TER. However, this proposal has sparked concerns about the potential impact on the profitability of AMCs. Including these additional costs in the TER calculation could potentially reduce the net returns generated by the funds, making it challenging for AMCs to maintain their profitability levels. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="subhead" text="The impact of reduced commissions">The impact of reduced commissions</cmsannotation> According to the report, the implications of TER regulations should be analysed in relation to two key factors, the current level of AUM which are relatively more resilient to variations in commission rates, and the incremental flows, which are influenced by both performance, and distribution payout, with performance potentially exerting a greater influence. With respect to HDFC AMC and, to a lesser degree, Nippon Life AMC, there is a concern of apparent trade-off between maintaining profitability, and being competitive in terms of the ability to pay distribution commissions. In this context it should be noted that HDFC AMC has experienced a significant revival in flows over the past 6-12 months compared to the industry as a whole. This revival has occurred even though HDFC AMC pays lower commissions than many other large competitors in the same category. Any potential impact on growth resulting from lower commissions could be offset by a potentially stronger alignment of interests with HDFC Bank, the new parent company, the report says. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="subhead" text="Fund performance drives net flows">Fund performance drives net flows</cmsannotation> The report observes that there exists a notable correlation between alpha (excess return) and the net flows of funds. Funds that consistently deliver strong alpha tend to attract attention, and experience increased inflows, while those with weaker alpha may see outflows. This correlation indicates that performance plays a crucial role in investors' decision-making process. Not only do direct channels show a high sensitivity to fund performance, but intermediated channels such as banks, independent financial advisors (IFA), and national distributors also heavily rely on performance when recommending funds to their clients. Therefore, the ability of a fund to generate positive alpha is a significant factor in influencing both direct and intermediated flows into a fund.

New Delhi, Jan 21 () HDFC Asset Management Company on Tuesday reported a 45 per cent jump in profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 352.5 crore for the three months ended December 31, 2019.
 In comparison, the company, had a posted a PAT of Rs 243.3 crore in the year-ago period, HDFC AMC said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
 The company's total income rose 11 per cent to Rs 592 crore in the October-December quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 532.7 crore in the same period last financial year.
 The total asset managed by the fund house increased by 14 per cent to Rs 3,82,500 crore at the end of December, 2019 from Rs 3,35,000 crore in the end of December, 2018.
 The average assets under management of actively managed equity funds stood at Rs 1.66 lakh crore as on December 2019 with a market share of 15.8 per cent. This excluded arbitrage and index funds.

New Delhi, Jan 22 () Shares of HDFC Asset Management Company on Wednesday rose over 2 per cent after the company posted 45 per cent jump in profit after tax for the December quarter.
The stock gained 2.59 per cent to trade at Rs 3,261.30 on the BSE.
On the NSE, the scrip traded higher by similar margins at Rs 3,262.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders is engaged in the construction and repair of warships and submarines for use by the Indian Navy and other vessels for commercial clients. The company has set the price band for IPO at ₹117-120, and the public offer will remain open until October 1. The company has a strong client base such as ONGC, HCG, Indian Oil, GAIL, among others, to name a few. The minimum bid for the IPO has been set at a lot of 125 shares or in multiples thereof.
