The company's revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 28,057 crore, registering a 1.6% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) decline and a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 6.7%. The company's <keyword id="20387237" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EBIT" source="keywords">EBIT</keyword> (earnings before interest and tax) was Rs 4,795 crore, down 4.4% QoQ but up 7.5% YoY. The company also declared an <keyword id="397990" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="interim-dividend" source="Orion">interim dividend</keyword> of Rs 12 per share, making April–June 2024 the 86th consecutive quarter where the company paid out dividends. The company's net income also jumped from Rs 3,534 crore in June 2023 to Rs 4,257 crore in June, 2024. The company's new deals secured during the quarter, or total contract value (TCV), were around $1,960 million. Its employee workforce as of June 30th, 2024, stood at 2,19,401. The company let go of 8,080 employees during the quarter. However, its attrition rate came down to 12.8% during the quarter, down from 16.3% in Q1 FY24. At the close of trade today, HCL Tech's stock was trading at Rs 1,561.75, up by 3.30%. The company's operating cash flows (OCF) for the quarter stood at $2,722 million, while its free cash flows (FCF) were around $2,604 million. Revenues at HCLTech Services saw a dip of 1.9% on a QoQ basis but rose by 5.8% on a YoY basis, in constant currency terms. <h2>Looking ahead</h2>In FY25, the company expects its revenue growth to be in the range of 3-5% on a year-over-year basis, in constant currency terms. Its revenue from services is also set to grow within the same estimates. The company also anticipates its EBIT margins to be between 18 and 19% in FY25. Per its reports, the company's top 20 clients contributed 30.1% of its total revenue. Service revenue from the <keyword id="20049715" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="americas" source="keywords">Americas</keyword> saw the maximum jump of 8% on a year-on-year basis, in constant currency terms. As of June 30, 2023, the revenue mix from the Americas was at 64.5%, which grew to 66% this quarter. Opposed to this, the rest of the world's share of the revenue mix dipped by 6.8% as of June 30th, 2023, to 6.1% as of June 30th, 2024. Amidst the company's verticals, the telecommunications, media, publishing &amp; entertainment vertical registered the maximum YoY growth of 69.2%, jumping to 12.2% last quarter from 7.6% as of June 30th, 2023. During the quarter, the company lost 4 clients worth over $20 million and gained 9 clients worth over $5 million. On a year-on-year basis, the company added 14 clients worth $5 million to its base.

HCL Tech Q1 results: Company reports better than expected results, revenue jumps 6.7% YoY

Economists at the country's largest lender, SBI, today said they see India's Q2 real GDP growth slowing down further to 6.5% in the September quarter of this fiscal year. Amid concerns over the country's economic growth rate and whether it is slowing down, the analysts said they expect FY25 growth to come "closer to" 7%. SBI analysts join a long line of agencies like Fitch, ADB, IMF, Moody, World Bank, S&amp;P, and even RBI in forecasting India's GDP growth for FY25 in the range of 6.8% to 7.2% for FY25, driven by robust consumption and investment. SIP inflows have been at an all-time high, and so has QIP (qualified institutional placement) fundraising. As many as 71 companies raised Rs 88,678 crore this year through QIPs. Activity in Indian primary markets also remained robust, with 78 mainboard IPOs in 2024; this is a 111% rise from just 38 listings in FY23. Between April and June 2024, India's real GDP grew by 6.7%, the lowest growth seen in 15 quarters, pushing experts to believe that India is caught in a cycle of slowdown. "There is some incipient pressure evident on the domestic economy. Based on our analysis of 50 meaningful leading indicators (both consumption and demand-centric), a dip looks plausible across select cohorts of agriculture, industry, and services in Q2," the <keyword id="22337294" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI-economists" source="keywords">SBI economists</keyword> added. Stating that they track 50 indicators to gauge economic activity, SBIs note said the proportion of indicators showing acceleration declined to 69% in Q2 FY25, as against 80% in Q2 FY24 and 78% in Q1 FY25. However, things might be changing now, given that rural demand has started looking up amidst muted urban demand. SBI also explained that the ongoing regulatory tightening on unsecured lending and roadblocks that are hindering rollover/refinancing of debt through unsecured credit are dismantling the unwarranted exuberance that had built up post-pandemic, especially in the urban areas. Madhu Lunawat, CIO &amp; Fund Manager, Bharat Value Fund states that the overall investment environment remains strong due to favorable economic conditions supporting government policies &amp; reforms. "The sustainable inflow from domestic investors is going to support the Indian equity market in any kind of correction. The long-term bullish structure of Indian economy will continue to attract new domestic &amp; global investors to participate in India’s growth story through various Investment avenues.” <h2>Rate cuts not on cards</h2>RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das clarified today that changing the monetary policy stance to 'neutral' does not mean a rate cut is imminent in the central bank's next policy announcement. Notably, RBI MPC is set to meet between December 4 and 6, 2024, to decide if the prevailing repo rate of 6.5%, which has stayed unchanged for the last 2 years, should be brought down or not. In its last meeting, The <keyword id="20501100" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI-monetary-policy" source="keywords">RBI monetary policy</keyword> committee had shifted its stance to 'neutral' indicating that it is open to adjusting interest rates based on economic conditions. "It should not be assumed that we have done this, so therefore the next step is a rate cut. A change in stance doesn't mean that the next step is a rate cut in the very next meeting. It's not so," Das said. Das also cautioned that inflation remains a key factor, and inflation and CPI prints for October are expected to stay high.

SBI economists see Q2 GDP growth slowing down to 6.5%; FY25 growth to be closer to 7%

The company's revenue from operations during the quarter stood at $2.63 billion, a dip of 4.9% YoY, in constant currency terms. The company's operating margin for <keyword id="20069374" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IT-services" source="keywords">IT services</keyword> for the quarter stood at 16.5%, seeing a 0.4% YoY dip. The revenue from IT services during April-June 2024 was $2,625.9 million, witnessing a 5.5% YoY fall. For the next quarter (ending September 2024), the company hopes for its IT Services business segment to be in the range of $2,600 million to $2,652 million, per its press release. <h2>Revenue breakdown</h2>The company's gross revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 219.6 billion, up 3.8% on YoY basis. At 34% of the total quarterly revenue, banking, financial services &amp; insurance was the company's biggest revenue contributor segment, followed by communication (3.8%), consumer (19.2%), technology (11.5%), health (13.9%), manufacturing (6.4%) and energy, natural resources and utilities making up 11% of the total revenue. In terms of geographies, over 60% stemmed from the Americas, while 27.6% came from Europe and 10.7% came from APMEA (<keyword id="20038550" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="asia-pacific" source="keywords">Asia Pacific</keyword>, India, Middle East &amp; Africa). However, the company's large deals TCV (total contract value) for the quarter was $1.2 billion, down 3.6% YoY, while total bookings for the quarter were $3,284 million. However, Wipro's <keyword id="20508950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Net-income" source="keywords">net income</keyword> for the quarter stood at Rs 30.0 billion, up by 4.6% YoY. <h2>Customer segmentation</h2>As far as customer concentration goes, the top 1% of company's clients contribute 4% to its revenue, while the top 5 and top 10 make up for 13.6% and 22.5% of the revenue mix, respectively. As of June 30, 2023, the company's headcount was 2,34,391 with a <keyword id="22473955" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="voluntary-attrition" source="keywords">voluntary attrition</keyword> rate at 14.1% During the previous quarter, the company gained 43 new customers, while obtaining 99.7% of its revenue from its existing ones. The number of active customers associated with the company stood at 1,364, down from 1,444 in the year ago period. In terms of customer size, Wipro's clientele for Q1FY25 stood at 735 (customers over $1 million), 407 (customers over $3 million) and 301 (customers over $5 million). However, this was slightly down from their base in Q1FY24, where the company had 769 customers worth over $1 million, 444 customers over $3 million and 319 customers over $5 million. As for customers over $100 million, the same rose marginally from 21 in Q1FY24 to 22 in Q1FY25. Wipro Q1FY25 results: Net income jumps 4.6% YoY to Rs 30 billion, operating margin at 16.5%

Indian companies across multiple sectors have reported disappointing results in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, notes a new JM Financials report. Consequently, their poor performance has triggered stock price corrections for affected companies. The brunt of this weaker than expected earnings was largely borne by consumer centric sectors like FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), retail, and auto, which slacked largely due to dampened urban demand. For instance, India's largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, reported a 5% YoY decline in its total domestic passenger vehicle wholesales, largely on the back of pent-up inventory. Similarly, Honda reported a staggering 23% YoY dip in its total sales during October 2024. A recent report by Bernstein noted that around 48% of the companies listed on the NSE100 index missed their earnings estimate for Q2FY25, the highest since March 2020. Most companies have mentioned deteriorated domestic demand, urban slowing, macroeconomic risk, and margin pressures as the main reasons behind the dip. "The quarter's earnings have made investors nervous," noted the JM Financials report. The challenging environment stems from multiple factors: softening consumer demand, rising input costs, and companies' limited ability to increase prices. Moreover, this is not limited to just one quarter. Companies have been reporting weak, single-digit earnings growth for the last six consecutive quarters. Data from India Data Hub also suggests that corporate profits of listed companies plunged by as much as 3.4% during the quarter ended September 30, 2024. This is in stark contrast to the year-ago period, where they had shot up by over 40% The oil and gas sector had a difficult quarter, with refiners hit by weak margins and city gas distributors struggling with higher input costs. Financial institutions showed mixed results. While government-owned banks reported strong numbers, microfinance institutions and some private lenders faced massive difficulties with their unsecured loans. Most notable amongst this was the case of IndusInd Bank, which saw its net profits dip by 40% amidst burgeoning provisions, which climbed 87% to Rs 1,820 crore in Q2, as against Rs 974 crore reported in the year-ago period. <h2>Markets head southwards</h2>The selling trend by FPIs has dragged down the major Indian indices, the Nifty 50 and Sensex, both of which have dropped by around 8% since the beginning of this selling spree in October. According to National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL) data, FPIs offloaded equities worth a significant Rs 19,994 crore in just the first five trading sessions of November last week. The impact is clearly visible on Indian stock markets. Data suggests that while every sector in October closed the month in red, auto, oil and gas, and consumer durables were the most badly hit, each declining by as much as 10% during the month. Another indicator underlining the inherent weakness of the market was that the month saw only 242 stocks hit their 52-week high, significantly below the usual monthly average of 310.

Consolidated <keyword id="17915033" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue" botkeyword="" source="Denny">revenue</keyword> from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 4,202.88 crore as against Rs 2,956.8 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Total expenses in the fourth quarter were higher at Rs 4,044.90 crore compared to Rs 2,761.45 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. In the fourth quarter the unitary cooling products business segment revenue grew by 44 per cent to Rs 2,955 crore as compared to Rs 2,049 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year on account of a better product mix enhancement approach, the company said. The engineering products and services division clocked revenue of Rs 156 crore as compared to Rs 142 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Similarly, electro-mechanical <keyword id="18084086" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="projects" botkeyword="" source="Denny">projects</keyword> and services segment comprising both domestic and international projects businesses grew by 38 per cent year-an-year due to a healthy carry forward order book position, it added. <keyword id="21544478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Voltas" botkeyword="" source="Denny">Voltas</keyword> said for the fiscal ended March 31, 2024, consolidated net profit was higher at Rs 248.11 crore as compared to Rs 136.22 crore in the previous year. Voltas net profit declines 22% YoY to ₹110.64 crore in Q4 FY24

India's largest paint maker <keyword id="20026009" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Asian-Paints" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Asian Paints" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Asian Paints">Asian Paints</keyword>, reported a 24.5% dip in its net profits for the quarter, pushing it down to Rs 1,170 crore from Rs 1,383 crore in the same quarter last year. The company's net sales during the quarter also dipped by over 2% to touch Rs 8,970 crore, compared to Rs 9,182.31 crore in the year-ago period. In a statement, Amit Syngle, MD and CEO of Asian Paints attributed the below-expectation results to tough demand conditions during <keyword id="21159844" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="April-June" source="keywords">April-June</keyword>, which also saw severe heatwaves and general elections. However, he expected the demand to pick up soon, largely on the back of improving <keyword id="22447264" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rural-sentiment" source="keywords">rural sentiment</keyword> and monsoon making headway in the country. The company's international sales also took hit, down to Rs 679.1 crore from Rs 695.1 crore, mainly due to liquidity and forex crises it experienced in the key markets, namely Asia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Egypt. On the other hand, Ethiopia and <keyword id="19931726" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sri-lanka" source="keywords">Sri Lanka</keyword> proved beneficial for the company's international growth during the quarter. In June 2024, the company paid out a final dividend of Rs 28.15 per equity share to its shareholders. The company also reported a 7% volume growth during the previous quarter. But its EBITDA margin during the quarter shrunk from 23.1% in the same quarter last year to 18.1% between April-June 2024. The company's consolidated profits before depreciation, interest, tax, income and exceptional items dipped to Rs 1,694 crore, as compared to Rs 2,121 crore in the year ago period. <h2>Bath fitting sales inch up </h2>The only segment within the business' umbrella that registered growth was the bath fitting segment, which grew by 10%, and <keyword id="6921293" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kitchen-fittings" source="Orion">kitchen fittings</keyword>, which jumped by 4.6%. The company's industrial business grew by 5.8% due to solid growth in auto original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and the powder coating segments. At close of markets on Tuesday, the paint maker's stock was trading at Rs 2,968.00, up by 0.39%. Over the last year, the company's share has fallen by as much as 14.23%, but it remains a solid catch for long-term investors, jumping up by 116.78% over the last 5 years.

Asian Paints Q1FY25 results: Net profit dips by 25%, revenue also misses market estimates

It had clocked Rs 6,128.63 crore profit from "continuing and discontinued operations" during the fourth quarter of last fiscal, the company said in an exchange filing. Total income rose to Rs 24,176.34 crore from Rs 20,074.11 crore in January-March FY23. Expenses were at Rs 14,579.16 crore as against Rs 12,312.29 crore a year ago. The company logged the highest annual profit of Rs 26,461 crore in FY24, up 25 per cent from Rs 21,179 crore in FY23. Its consolidated loan asset book increased to Rs 9,90,824 crore as on March 31, 2024, up from Rs 8,57,500 crore a year ago. PFC's consolidated net worth (including non-controlling interest) increased 20 per cent from Rs 1,11,981 crore as on March 31, 2023 to Rs 1,34,289 crore as on March 31 this year. The company's total balance sheet size crossed Rs 10 lakh crore in FY24. Consolidated gross NPA was at 3.02 per cent in FY24 as against 3.66 per cent in FY23. The board also approved the final dividend of Rs 2.50 per share. With this, the total dividend for FY24 would be Rs 13.50 per share. <keyword id="21668447" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cmd-parminder-chopra" source="keywords">CMD Parminder Chopra</keyword> said,"This strong performance is backed by a 14 per cent growth in our loan portfolio while retaining a strong asset quality. PFC's renewable loan portfolio grew 25 per cent year-on-year to over Rs 60,000 crore, she said. "The company reported a constant currency revenue growth of 4.4% in Q1FY25, up from 2.2% in Q4FY24. Despite the overall macroeconomic environment continuing to indicate uncertainty, with profits declining by 3.18% QoQ, all major markets displayed sequential growth. While revenue growth for India's largest IT services companies in Q1FY25 remains strong, profit and margin pressures persist", he continued. The broader indices also slipped, losing over half a percent each". "With no major domestic triggers, participants are now looking to global markets for direction. An intermediate recovery in the US markets is providing some relief, but ongoing pressure in select heavyweight stocks across sectors is limiting the recovery. According to a stock exchange filing, the company clocked a profit of Rs 57.66 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations for the reporting quarter stood at Rs 417.29 crore, as against Rs 377.98 crore in Q4FY23, translating into a 10.4 per cent rise. Revenue for the quarter was led by the edutech vertical (22.3 per cent), followed by healthcare (16.1 per cent). Executive chairman Ashok Soota said the newly created Gen AI business unit, the creation of six new industry groups, and the successful closure of two acquisitions have put the company back on course towards accomplishing its 'long-term vision of USD 1 billion in revenues by FY31'. Annual profits saw a 7.53 per cent rise to Rs 248.39 per cent, as compared to the previous fiscal's Rs 230.99 crore. Revenue for financial year 2023-24 was at Rs 1,624.66 crore, a 13.66 per cent climb over FY23's Rs 1,429.29 crore. "Happy to report a full-year revenue growth in constant currency of 11 per cent and EBITDA of 24.6 per cent. I am proud of our performance, especially in the face of a challenging year faced by our industry. "Acquisition of PureSoftware Technologies and Macmillan Learning should help us in our growth story while delivering value to all our stakeholders," MD and CFO Venkatraman Narayanan said. He gave an estimated growth guidance of 35-40 per cent for FY25. Happiest Minds Technologies has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent equity interest in PureSoftware Technologies for a total purchase consideration of Rs 779 crore. The acquisition is expected to be completed before May 31, 2024. The company's headcount as of Mar 31, 2024 was 5,168, at an attrition of 13 per cent. "For FY24, part of our headcount has come from the campus batch... our latest batch is ready for deployment... for fresher hiring, we are being agile in approach in going back to campus, we will take a call around August... Given the nature of digital space, there is wide range of technologies... and based on the demand, we do need to go and bring people on board," <keyword id="20282489" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="joseph-anantharaju" source="keywords">Joseph Anantharaju</keyword>, executive vice chairman, said. He further said the company's deal pipeline continues to be strong, "there was a dip in Q3 but Q4 was reflective of the changes that we made... our efforts around GenAI are really paying off". Soota, during the company's press conference, said FY25 is poised to be the company's best year since its IPO. The company recommended a final dividend of Rs 3.25 per equity share of Rs 2 each for the financial year ended March 31, 2024, subject to shareholders approval. IT services major HCL Technologies on Monday reported a 10.51% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹4,235 crore in the July-September quarter of FY25, as the company raised the lower band of its growth guidance on the back of better-than-expected performance. Reliance Industries on Monday reported a 5% fall in the July-September quarter net profit as weak oil refining and petrochemical business hurt operational performance. "The sharp cut in Brent crude by 3% is a macro positive for India, but CPI inflation for September coming worse-than-expected at 5.49% is a concern...," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. Soaring vegetable prices pushed the retail inflation rate to a nine-month high of 5.49% in September, according to government data released on Monday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude dropped 2.98% to $75.15 a barrel. In <keyword id="20155107" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asian-markets" source="keywords">Asian markets</keyword>, Seoul and Tokyo were quoting in the positive territory while Shanghai and Hong Kong traded lower. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹3,731.59 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. However, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities worth ₹2,278.09 crore. "Even though FIIs continue to sell, the intensity of their selling has come down reducing the pressure on largecaps," Vijayakumar added. The BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 591.69 points or 0.73% to settle at 81,973.05 on Monday. The Nifty climbed 163.70 points or 0.66% to 25,127.95. "The Nifty continues to show resilience, with bullish momentum supported by positive global market trends and strong Q2 earnings from HCL Tech," Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, said.
