The patient, a 41-year-old man from Zhenjiang city, is currently in a stable condition and meets discharge standards, the state-run CGTN TV reported. Health authorities played down the outbreak, saying the case was a sporadic virus transmission from poultry to humans, and the risk of causing a pandemic was extremely low. The patient was diagnosed as having the H10N3 avian <keyword id="6388288" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="influenza">influenza</keyword> virus on May 28, National Health Commission said in a statement without elaborating on how the man had got infected with the virus. World's first case of human infection with bird flu in Russia

Over 1.60 lakh birds of five <keyword id="368756" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Poultry">poultry</keyword> farms in <keyword id="41646" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana">Haryana</keyword>'s <keyword id="48534" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="panchkula">Panchkula</keyword> district are set to be culled as some poultry samples there have tested positive for the <keyword id="3777227" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="avian-flu">avian flu</keyword>, Agriculture minister J P Dalal said on Friday. "Five poultry samples of Siddharth Poultry Farm at Raipur Rani block in Panchkula were found positive for the H5N8 strain of avian flu. It is an influenza virus," Dalal said while talking to reporters here. Similarly, the samples of some birds from Nature Poultry farm at Panchkula too tested positive, he said. The samples were sent to a laboratory in Bhopal and their reports have come now, the minister added. As per the government of India guidelines, the poultry of farms located within one km of any farm fund having infected birds have to be culled, Dalal said. Accordingly, as per estimates, around 1.66 lakh poultry birds of five poultry farms in Panchkala will have to be culled, the minister added. The employees of these poultry farms too would be examined by the health department, Dalal further said. They would also be given anti-viral medicines, he further said. Notably, over four lakh poultry birds had died at some farms in Haryana's Panchkula district over the past several days. Panchkula's Barwala-Raipur Rani area is one of the largest poultry belts in the country with 70-80 lakh birds in more than 100 farms. Besides, a chicken and two herons from Parbhani too died of H5N1 avian influenza virus, while crows from Beed and Dapoli (in Ratnagiri district) were infected by H5N8 avian influenza virus, as per the report. "Our action plan implementation work has begun. We will be holding a review meeting with the chief minister (Uddhav Thackeray) in the evening," Kumar said. "We will get our strategies approved by the CM and start culling from tomorrow, especially in Parbhani where poultry birds have been found to be infected," he said. The government machinery, including district collectors and forest department, is on alert, he said. Kumar also said that people need not worry as infection to humans due to bird flu is "rarest of rare". The state government is also running a campaign to make people aware that it is safe to consume eggs and poultry products, because there is "absolutely no possibility" of infection due to eating them. "And our cooking temperature takes care of any kind of virus, not only flu virus...it is absolutely safe to eat eggs and chicken," he said. Talking to reporters in Jalna, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said his department is on alert in view of the bird flu cases found in the state. However, there is nothing to fear, he said and asked people to take care and be safe. Last month, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/germany-kills-16000-turkeys-92000-chickens-after-detecting-bird-flu-outbreak-2016-11" target="_blank">German authorities also ordered 16,000 turkeys and 92,000 chickens</a> to be slaughtered.As a precaution, the UK government's chief veterinarian Nigel Gibbens has declared a "prevention zone" which requires all bird keepers in the country, including poultry farmers and those with pet birds, to keep their animals inside for 30 days. "We are closely monitoring the situation across Europe and have scaled up surveillance in response to the heightened risk," <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-measures-to-protect-poultry-against-avian-flu" target="_blank">he said in a statement</a>.The strain hasn't been detected in any British farms yet. If it was, all the birds would have to be destroyed under disease control requirements. <h2>What is bird flu?</h2>Avian influenza - colloquially known as bird flu - refers to the flu viruses that occur naturally in wild birds like ducks and geese. They are very contagious and can also infect poultry and other animals.These viruses mutate constantly; they also can swap genes with one another. As a result, there are multiple different types with varying degrees of infectiousness, and some are also more dangerous than others.H5N8 is a highly pathogenic strain, which means that it is often fatal for birds and it spreads much easier and more quickly than some other strains.<h2>Can I catch it?</h2>Transmission to humans is rare, but <a href="http://www.cdc.gov/flu/avianflu/virus-transmission.htm">it can happen</a>. People who catch it usually have had direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments, such as handling dead, diseased birds before cooking. Human to human transmission of bird flu is even more rare, and there's no evidence that the virus can spread to people through properly and thoroughly cooked food. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-happens-h7n9-bird-flu-infection-2013-4?IR=T" target="_blank">If you are unlucky enough to get infected</a>, however, symptoms can include a high fever, pneumonia, sore throat, muscle aches and sometimes even seizures. <a href="http://www.who.int/influenza/human_animal_interface/avian_influenza/h5n1_research/faqs/en/" target="_blank">According to the World Health Organization</a>, the mortality rate for bird flu in humans in 60%.In most cases, bird flu develops into a serious disease that should be treated quickly in hospital, and it may require intensive care. Good Morning! Following is a roundup of overnight Market Action - Key headlines (With Story Links), and this week's calendar. 
Euro Markets are under pressure - weighed down by Banks after DB released early. DAX off 40bp in average trading, but most EU markets trading 30% light to average volumes. EU Fins are retreating, losing 1% on the back of DB's 6% drop overnight. Asian Markets were under pressure on Weak China data - Nikkei lost 60bp, Shanghai lowest in 6 months, and most EM Asia weaker. India's market jumped as the RBI injected capital into their bond Markets. Aussie lost 20bp, but Miners under pressure after recent run on weak China data. China's CDS has jumped 10% overnight on liquidity concerns into the New Year Holiday
The 10YY is slightly lower as Bills have a slight bid in CBOT trading. The DXY is weaker as both the Euro and Yen pop against the Greenback. Platinum is jumping 2% overnight and 7% over the last week (South Africa Strikes). Gold hit a new YTD peak overnight, testing $1260/oz before retreating. Copper and Steel futures remain under pressure (China). The energy complex is mostly red, with WTI off 50bp (Iran deal), but Nat Gas is off 1.5% despite the frigid temperatures in the USA this week.
