<ul><li>HD Kumaraswamy government lost the trust vote today.</li><li>The Congress JD (S) coalition government got 99 vote. Where as BJP got 105 vote. </li><li>Earlier, 17 MLAs were absent from the Assembly on the day of the trust vote. </li></ul>As expected, H D Kumaraswamy government today lost the trust vote in the <keyword id="6354780" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Karnataka">Karnataka</keyword> assembly today.The Congress JD (S) coalition government got 99 votes while Opposition BJP secured 105. This was highly expected as 17 of the ruling coalition government's legislators were absent from the assembly today. The motion for confidence was moved by Kumaraswamy on July 18, after as many as 15 MLAs resigned from the government early this month. Of the 17 missing legislators, 12 of the Congress and 3 of the JD-S are rebels who resigned from the Assembly and are holed-up at a star hotel in Mumbai while other two Congress members are in private hospitals in Bengaluru and Mumbai for treatment. "The rebels have rejected even the last-minute appeal of the party leaders to be present in the Assembly for voting in favour of the motion, as they have already resigned and the Supreme Court ruled on July 17 that they cannot be compelled to attend the session for the floor test," a leader of the ruling combine told IANS. Though two Independents, who resigned as ministers on July 8 and pledged support to the BJP were not seen in the Assembly since the 10-day monsoon session began on July 12, the opposition party is hoping they would be present at the time of voting against the motion. "Even if they are not present, their absence will not make a difference as all our 105 legislators are present in the House to vote against the motion," party spokesman G. Madhusudana told IANS. With 17 members absent, the effective strength of the 225-member Assembly at the time of voting will be 208, with 105 the new halfway mark. The Congress strength has been reduced from 79 to 65, but this includes the Speaker, who can vote only in the event of a tie. Similarly, the JD-S strength has come down from 37 to 34. With the support of the lone BSP member and the nominated member, the ruling combine has 101 votes, which is four short of the half-way mark, while the BJP's 105 increases to 107, with the two Independents. The BJP leader said that they hoped that good sense will prevail in Kumaraswamy, who knows that his fate is sealed, and he will resign than face a humiliating defeat in the floor of the house. <ul><li>The Supreme Court directed the 10 rebellious Congress MLAs to speak to <keyword id="6354780" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Karnataka">Karnataka</keyword> assembly speaker at 6 pm yesterday. </li><li>As many as 16 MLAs — including 6 from <keyword id="123462" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Janata-Dal">Janata Dal</keyword> (JD) — had offered resignation to the speaker who didn't accept the resignations. </li><li>The MLAs accused assembly speaker Ramesh Kumar for not accepting their resignation.</li></ul>Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that he is ready for a trust vote in Assembly, as the crisis over his government deepens. As many as 10 MLAs from the Congress resigned from the government on July 1 which weakened the Congress and Janata Dal (S) coalition government. The MLAs had stayed holed up in <keyword id="6358070" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="mumbai">Mumbai</keyword> for days since the mass resignations as the crisis to Mumbai. A few silver lines of resolution came on Thursday after the Supreme Court directed the dissenting MLAs to appear before the Assembly on Thursday evening. The Apex court had also asked the Karnataka Police to provide protection to the MLAs — Pratap Gouda Patil, Ramesh Jarkhiholi, Byrati Basavaraj, BC Patil, ST Somashekar, Arbail Sivaram Hebbar, Mahesh Kumathalli, K Gopalaiah, HD Vishwanath and Narayan Gowda. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) had also registered a complaint against the rebel MLAs for not abiding by the party rules and staying illegally at a hotel in Mumbai. The situation also heated up when Congress party leaders like Milind Deora and Shikumar were stopped from entering the hotel premises. Later, a Section 144 which bans the assembly of more than four people, was also imposed on Wednesday in Powai area where the rebel MPs were staying. The MLAs had accused that the Speaker Ramesh Kumar was not accepting their resignations, even when they were in accordance with the Indian constitution. There have been instances where such impasses have taken months to be resolved. With people expressing their indignation and leaders cutting across party lines slamming Google, it quickly removed Kannada "as the ugliest language in India" and apologised to the people saying the search result did not reflect its opinion. Karnataka Minister for Kannada, Culture and Forest, <keyword id="77043" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aravind-Limbavali">Aravind Limbavali</keyword> told reporters that a legal notice would be served to Google for showing such an answer to that question. Later, he took to Twitter to express his outrage and demanded an apology from Google to Kannada and Kannadigas. Kannada language has a history of its own, having come into existence as many as 2,500 years ago, the minister said and added that the language has been the pride of Kannadigas through the ages. Showing Kannada in poor light "...is merely an attempt by Google to insult this pride of Kannadigas. I demand an apology from @Google ASAP to Kannada, Kannadigas. Legal action will be taken against Google for maligning the image of our beautiful language!" Limbavali tweeted. When contacted, a Google spokesperson said, "search isn't always perfect. Sometimes, the way content is described on the internet can yield surprising results to specific queries." "We know this is not ideal, but we take swift corrective action when we are made aware of an issue and are continually working to improve our algorithms. Naturally, these are not reflective of the opinions of Google, and we apologise for the misunderstanding and hurting any sentiments." Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy denounced Google in a series of tweets for the outrageous answer to the language question. He sought to know why Google "behaves in an irresponsible manner" in terms of language. Others including the BJP's Bengaluru Central MP, P C Mohan slammed Google and asked it to apologise. Sharing the screenshot of the search on his Twitter handle, Mohan said Karnataka is home to the great Vijayanagara empire and the Kannada language has a rich heritage, a glorious legacy and a unique culture.
