The police have so far managed to nab four of the accused, including one woman, who have been identified as Gurjant Singh (31), <keyword id="531011" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="navjot-singh" source="Orion">Navjot Singh</keyword> (30), Satpal Singh (28) and <keyword id="258701" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gurpreet-kaur" source="Orion">Gurpreet Kaur</keyword> (30). Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), R. Sathiyasundaram, said a PCR call was received at around 6 p.m. on Sunday, informing that around 15 'Income Tax officials' have conducted a raid without the police and seized the mobile phones of all the family members. When the the complainant asked the accused to show a search warrant, the accused threatened the victims by saying that they had guns. "The accused then started to open the cupboards, beds etc. on the ground floor and the first floor. Some of them even molested the complainant," the <keyword id="59859" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dcp" source="Orion">DCP</keyword> said. The accused snatched the mobile phones of the family members, along with a hand bag containing one gold ornament and Rs 15,000 in cash, and fled from the spot. However, as the house occupants were shouting during the commotion, the neighbours heard their cries and informed the police. The police were able to nab four persons, while the rest of the accused fled from the spot. One Bolero car and ID cards of <keyword id="14367930" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="anti-corruption-foundation" source="Orion">Anti Corruption Foundation</keyword> of India were also recovered by the police. A search to nab the other accused is currently underway, the officer said. Delhi cops nab Special 26-like scamsters who pose as Income Tax officials

After first launching <keyword id="9421058" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Voice-tweets">voice tweets</keyword> in June 2020, micro-blogging site <keyword id="6354616" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> is now rolling out captions for voice tweets. According to The Verge, now, when users make a voice tweet, currently available on the iOS app right now, captions will be automatically generated in supported languages. "As part of our ongoing work to make Twitter accessible for everyone, we're rolling out automated captions for Voice Tweets to iOS," said <keyword id="258701" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gurpreet-Kaur">Gurpreet Kaur</keyword>, Twitter's head of global accessibility "Though it's still early and we know it won't be perfect at first, it's one of many steps wea¿re taking to expand and strengthen accessibility across our service, and we look forward to continuing our journey to create a truly inclusive service," <keyword id="6408334" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kaur">Kaur</keyword> added. The currently supported languages are English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, French, Indonesian, Korean and Italian. To see the captions on a tweet, users can click or tap the CC icon in the top-right corner of the voice tweet window. Captions only appear on new voice tweets, the company told the tech website. When voice tweets were launched, it also came to light that there wasn't a dedicated team at Twitter for accessibility at the time -- instead, employees had to volunteer their own time for accessibility work, the report said. The company has since fixed that, announcing that it had formed teams to focus on accessibility in September, it added. The US is home to more than 4.5 million Indians, which is the highest-earning ethnic group in the country. President <keyword id="99719" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="joe-biden" source="Orion">Joe Biden</keyword> recently went on record to say: "It's amazing, Indian - of descent - Americans are taking over the country: you, my Vice President (<keyword id="180909" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kamala-harris" source="Orion">Kamala Harris</keyword>), my speechwriter, Vinay (Vinay Reddy)... You guys are incredible!" Even as one grappled with the shock of four Sikh family members, within the age groups of eight months to 39 years, found dead in California, news of 20-year-old student Varun Manish Chheda stabbed to death on Purdue University campus, sent shockwaves running across the Indian community world over. Earlier this week, Gurpreet Kaur Dosanjh, a Walmart employee, was shot dead and lumped inside a car in a parking lot in San Jose, California. In June this year, Satnam Singh, 31, was shot dead while sitting in a parked SUV down the street from his home in New York. This came days after Sai Charan Nakka, a 25-year-old techie from Telangana, was killed after sustaining an apparent gunshot wound to his head in Maryland Apart from the gruesome killings, Indian Americans have been consistently battling racial taunts, assaults, hate crime robberies, and vandalism of their properties. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), 161 anti-Asian <keyword id="6463069" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hate-crimes" source="Orion">hate crimes</keyword> took place in 2019, which rose to 279 in 2020. Giving a religious break-up, the FBI said that 54 anti-Sikh crimes occurred in 2019, which rose to 89 in 2020. Anti-Asian hate crime increased by 339 per cent last year compared to the year before, with New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other cities surpassing their record numbers in 2020, according to research by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism. Late in August, four Indian American women were told that they were "ruining" America and should "go back to India" by a Mexican-American woman in Texas. In the same month, Krishnan Jayaraman was racially abused and called a "disgusting Hindu" by Californian Rajinder Singh in a Taco Bell outlet in Fremont. Community members have also expressed concerns over multiple brazen attacks on Mahatma Gandhi's statue in New York and other US cities. "Such bigoted attacks motivated by <keyword id="44060" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="racism" source="Orion">racism</keyword>, xenophobia, and other forms of hate victimise not only those directly targeted by them but also broader communities through creating an atmosphere of fear and danger," Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi had said recently. Last month, Indian-Americans held a peaceful protest at Time Square against the recent spurt in hate crimes and instances of vandalism of the Gandhi statue in the city. An Indian American Attitudes Survey released last year found that "one in two Indian-Americans reports being discriminated against in the past one year, with discrimination based on skin colour identified as the most common form of bias". Somewhat surprisingly, Indian-Americans born in the US are much more likely to report being victims of discrimination than their foreign-born counterparts," the survey, supported by Carnegie Endowment, said. Biden had spoken strongly against hate crimes at a recent event against racism. It remains to be seen what Biden, who boasts of having appointed more than 130 Indian-Americans to key positions in his administration so far, does now for the community that has made significant contributions to this great landscape. Half a dozen murders in a week send shockwaves across Indian community in US

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Non-profits <keyword id="9333965" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="frontline-foods">Frontline Foods</keyword> and Off Their Plate have raised $9 million to make meals for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/healthcare">frontline workers</a>. </li><li>They've partnered with hundreds of <keyword id="34615" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="restaurants">restaurants</keyword> across the U.S. to make 800,000 meals so far.</li><li>The money raised goes straight to kitchen staff wages and the restaurants' food costs.</li><li>The program helps keep kitchens running and restaurant workers employed in one of the industries hardest hit by <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/category/coronavirus">COVID-19.</a></li><li>We spoke with two eateries in <keyword id="197002" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="nyc">NYC</keyword>, Golden Diner and Blackbarn, to see how they're making thousands of meals for <keyword id="5937603" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="frontline-workers">frontline workers</keyword>.</li></ul>Following is a full transcript of this <keyword id="21654" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="video">video</keyword>.Narrator: While most restaurants are empty right now, some are still running, but they look a little different.Sam Yoo: It all happened really fast, as you know. We definitely didn't have any time to prepare. We sort of just winged it.Narrator: This restaurant's making 300 meals, but none of it's going to the dining room. They're cooking for frontline workers.Mike Pacheco: We're on our way to NYU Langone Respiratory Therapy.Narrator: To deliver meals for nurses, doctors, and EMS workers. Not only are they making hundreds of the same meals, they're trying to stay healthy and keep the restaurant open in a time when most aren't making it.Yoo: It's a lot of bulk cooking and requires a lot of space and planning. Last week, we gave these huge burritos, like, what we imagine if someone got off a hard day's shift, like, what they would want to eat.Narrator: Programs like this have popped up across the country: New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles. The business model is simple: Donations pay for restaurants to make meals that are then sent to essential workers out on the front line. One nonprofit, Frontline Foods, has raised $5 million in donations so far.Ilana Brown: The night that the city mandated all the restaurants shut down, we decided to collect some money and send some frontline workers some full-priced meals from local restaurants. And then eventually that evolved into us starting a GoFundMe. We raised a lot of money really fast.Narrator: Frontline Foods has partnered with 1,000 restaurants in 56 cities. So far, the organization has donated 400,000 meals. One of Frontline's partner restaurants is Blackbarn in New York City.Pacheco: We partnered up with Ilana very early on in the pandemic, probably about a week and a half, almost two weeks, after the city officially shut down.Narrator: Another organization, Off Their Plate, has the same business model. Started in Boston, the organization has raised $4 million, and its 100 partner restaurants have made nearly 400,000 meals. Golden Diner in New York City was one of its first restaurant partnerships.Yoo: It was a no-brainer. We get to do something that's socially and morally positive. On top of that, they would be helping support us as a business to bring back a lot of our staff.Narrator: Golden Diner is a small shop and was able to keep on 90% of its staff thanks to Off Their Plate.Yoo: They're more contributing to the payroll costs, which is top priority.Narrator: Across town, Blackbarn is a huge restaurant.Pacheco: We had to furlough our entire team.Narrator: Just four of Mike's 100-person staff stayed on to make meals for frontline workers. And their workday looks a little different. They're cooking during a pandemic, so, obviously, safety comes first.Yoo: All employees have to bring a change of clothes. We also supply shirts and aprons. We also do daily temperature checks.Narrator: Golden Diner sanitizes door handles every hour and has sanitizer buckets at each workstation. And Blackbarn employees wear gloves and masks while cooking.Yoo: The week before we have to make the food, we get, basically, a call sheet of how many meals, where it's going, as in which hospital it's going to, and, you know, what time, so whether it's a lunch or dinner or breakfast meal.Narrator: Both restaurants have to cater to food restrictions: vegan, vegetarian...Pacheco: We had one hospital, I think Harlem hospital, that had a lot of Muslim staff. So we went and sourced halal, and, you know, we got pretty creative with some of these deliveries.Yoo: Every week, all the chefs get together, and we're like, "OK, what are we gonna do this week?" So, we also have, like, a protein, a starch, a little side, and then we always have a salad.Narrator: Frontline Foods pays Blackbarn $20 per meal. Golden Diner gets $10 per meal from Off Their Plate. The chefs order ingredients from their same suppliers, but the cooking process has changed to accommodate so many meals.Yoo: When you're cooking for 300 or 200, you sort of have to just, like, do something where you can just, like, get it hot and, like, get it on a plate.Narrator: Also, everything has to be made in bulk. Yoo: Instead of using just one small rice cooker, now we cook rice in the oven in, like, these large hotel pans.Narrator: Remember, Blackbarn is big, so it's got the kitchen space. But Golden Diner had to convert its dining room into prep and packaging space.Yoo: We'll just put all those tables together, and we'll just plate all the food.Narrator: Once everything's cooked, it's packaged up: cartons are lined up and filled one by one.Pacheco: We make sure that the meals can be either eaten cold or heated up. So, what we would do is we would box them hot, but they would last long. They wouldn't have any issues holding.Narrator: Then everything's labeled, each with the restaurant and dish's name. Finally, they're bagged and loaded up for delivery. Off Their Plate used to provide vans for delivery, but it got a bit too complicated.Yoo: We actually put just, like, a social-media blast out asking if anyone would be interested in helping us out. And so now we have our own volunteer drivers.Narrator: From the beginning, restaurants working with Frontline Foods needed to deliver their own meals. Blackbarn calls Ubers, but it's not always easy.Pacheco: A lot of time is spent waiting for the Uber, one that would be willing to pick us up and take us to these hospitals. And when they find out that they're going to a hospital or when they're about to deliver a bunch of food, they cancel the ride, they drive off.We're on our way to meet the contact now to drop off what is roughly around, I believe, over 2,100 meals that we've delivered since the start of this pandemic.Narrator: Then Mike hands off the meals to hospital workers.Gurpreet Kaur: It was just one of those things, that it took away the burden of having to figure out how to do "normal <keyword id="6360041" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="life">life</keyword>" things while we were taking care of patients. And I felt like for my team, it was a great way for them not to have to leave a COVID-positive unit to go outside, go to, like, a deli, go somewhere and expose anybody else.Narrator: Right now, Off Their Plate orders make up about 20% of Golden Diner's business. But with no dine-in service to support his restaurant...Yoo: In terms of profits, we're not really seeing much of that. It's just sort of sustaining.Narrator: And neither is Blackbarn. But the programs are helping keep the restaurants' ovens on until they can reopen for dine-in service.
