 “We are very disturbed because of the declining off-take from domestic manufacturers … Regulatory overreach has created panic and strain on the FCV tobacco farmers in the country,” FAIFA General Secretary <keyword id="1407736" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Murali-Babu">Murali Babu</keyword> said in a statement.

At least nine people have been killed due to 12 hours of heavy rains and floods. Railways and roadways are also heavily affected due to flooding.  Trains have been canceled on Nadikudi-Guntur section, and express trains from <keyword id="6354398" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Secunderabad">Secunderabad</keyword>, which normally pass through Guntur, have been diverted as the rail tracks near Piduguralla. 
 
The patients from the TB hospital in Chilkalurpet had to be shifted to another place as the hospital got submerged in the flood water. 
One APSRTC bus got trapped in the flood near Utukuru village in Krosur mandal. They were rescued by locals and police. People have to wade through waist –deep water at several places, while the reservoirs and tanks were overflowed. 
 
Nakarikallu recorded an astonishing 24.1 cm rainfall; Narasaraopet recorded 22.4 cm; Medikonduru 21 cm; Bellamkonda 19.1 cm and Muppalla 18.6 cm.

Incessant rainfall in Andhra Pradesh disrupts normal life, at least 9
killed

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>'s capital <keyword id="261805" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amaravati">Amaravati</keyword> city in <keyword id="52887" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Guntur">Guntur</keyword> district on Thursday. 

	It will be a mega event and the state government has made elaborate arrangements as around four to five lakh people are likely to attend the function to be held at Uddandarayunipalem village. 
 

	A presentation about the 'past, present and future' of Amaravati, a place of immense historical, mythological and cultural significance will also be shown at the event. 
 

	The state government has send invites to many union and chief ministers, important political leaders from across the country, eminent personalities, top industrialists and also foreign dignitaries for the capital city, which is about 40 km from Vijayawada. 
 Soil and water from 16,000 villages in the state and prominent <keyword id="60798" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="pilgrim">pilgrim</keyword> centres in the country have been brought to the capital region for construction. The idea is to promote a sense of belonging among the people. 

	While the Centre would provide funds for construction Of legislature buildings as per the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, the state government has plans to set up hubs of sports, entertainment and in other fields to promote economic activity, an official release said.

PM Modi to lay foundation stone of Andhra's new capital Amaravati

After much deliberation, the <keyword id="68188" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh-government">Andhra Pradesh Government</keyword> has finally zeroed in on the city that will constitute its new capital. And the city in question will be called <keyword id="261805" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amaravati">Amaravati</keyword>! It is basically the region between the two main cities of <keyword id="37103" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vijayawada">Vijayawada</keyword> and <keyword id="52887" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Guntur">Guntur</keyword> in central <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>, the ancient town of Amaravati, on the banks of the Krishna river, which will now be developed into the State’s brand new capital. The overall development is expected to cost the state government Rs 20,000 cr. 
 <keyword id="5269" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chief-Minister">Chief Minister</keyword> <keyword id="2791609" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chandrabau-Naidu">Chandrabau Naidu</keyword> pledged that Amaravati will be "the world's best city"; and said that the <keyword id="137578" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Singapore-government">Singapore government</keyword> has already presented him with the first draft of a master plan; based on changes he has sought, the plan will be resubmitted in a few weeks. 
Last year, the region of Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh as India's youngest state; the IT hub of Hyderabad has been designated a shared capital between the neighbouring states till 2024, after which it will belong to Telangana. 
 Amaravati was home to the Satavahana dynasty 2,000 years ago. It is famous for Buddhist sites including a stupa built during Emperor <keyword id="50337" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ashoka">Ashoka</keyword>'s time. Naidu said that the new capital will be blessed by both 'vaastu' and an auspicious name. 
 The development of the new capital will begin with the construction of the <keyword id="209680" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="state-legislature">state legislature</keyword>, the secretariat or headquarters of the government, and a high court, said the Chief Minister. Two major expressways and other multi-lane highways will also be built, which are meant to connect it to important towns and ports including Vizag, Hyderabad, and Bangalore, said government sources. Over a period of time, an international and domestic airport will also be built in the new capital region. 
 But in all the celebration, there is a big cause of worry. The state has a <keyword id="6365485" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="fiscal-deficit">fiscal deficit</keyword> of Rs 18,000 cr, while the estimated cost of construction of the new capital is around Rs 20,000cr. What is more worrisome is that the central government has so far sanctioned only Rs 1500 cr for the purpose. However, what Naidu could take heart from is the centre’s promise to deliver more cash, once it goes through the final master plan.

Andhra, this will be your new capital at Rs 20,000cr!

A staggering 93 per cent of the candidates who won the 2024 <keyword id="56978" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha-elections" source="Orion">Lok Sabha elections</keyword> are <keyword id="6366800" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="crorepatis" source="Orion">crorepatis</keyword>, up from 88 per cent in 2019, according to an analysis by poll rights body <keyword id="484381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Association-of-Democratic-Reforms" source="Orion">Association of Democratic Reforms</keyword> (<keyword id="45376" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ADR" source="Orion">ADR</keyword>). The top three wealthiest candidates are TDP's Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani from Andhra Pradesh's Guntur constituency with assets worth Rs 5,705 crore, BJP's Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from Telangana's Chevella with total assets amounting to Rs 4,568 crore and BJP's Naveen Jindal from Haryana's Kurukshetra with assets worth Rs 1,241 crore. Out of the 543 winning candidates, 504 are crorepatis, the analysis found. In 2019, 475 (88 per cent) winning candidates were crorepatis and 443 (82 per cent) in 2014. The trend indicates a steady climb since 2009 when only 315 (58 per cent) MPs were crorepatis. According to the analysis, 227 (95 per cent) of the BJP's 240 winning candidates, 92 (93 per cent) of the Congress' 99, 21 (95 per cent) of the DMK's 22, 27 (93 per cent) of the TMC's 29 and 34 (92 per cent) of the Samajwadi Party's 37 candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. All winning candidates of the AAP (3), the JDU (12) and the TDP (16) are crorepatis, ADR data showed. The analysis also delves into candidates' chances of winning based on their financial backgrounds. It found that the probability of a crorepati candidate clinching victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections stood at 19.6 per cent, compared to a meagre 0.7 per cent for candidates with assets less than a crore. The analysis also provides a breakdown of wealth distribution among the winning candidates. The data showed that 42 per cent of the candidates possess assets totalling Rs 10 crore and above. While 19 per cent of the candidates fall within the bracket of Rs 5 to 10 crore, 32 per cent hold assets ranging between Rs 1 and 5 crore. Only about 1 per cent of the winning candidates have assets worth less than Rs 20 lakh. Among major parties, the average assets per winning candidate vary significantly. The TDP leads with an average of Rs 442.26 crore per winner, followed by the BJP with Rs 50.04 crore, the DMK with Rs 31.22 crore, the Congress with Rs 22.93 crore, TMC with Rs 17.98 crore and SP with Rs 15.24 crore. The analysis also highlights disparities within the financial profiles of winning candidates. While some boast of substantial assets, others have relatively low worth. For instance, BJP's Jyotirmay Singh Mahato from West Bengal's Purulia has declared assets totalling a mere Rs 5 lakh. Similarly, TMC's Mitali Bag from West Bengal's Arambag holds assets worth Rs 7 lakh. Assets of SP's Priya Saroj from Uttar Pradesh's Machhlishahr are valued at Rs 11 lakh. In addition, the analysis identifies candidates with high liabilities. TDP's Pemmasani tops the list with liabilities exceeding Rs 1,038 crore. DMK's S Jagathratchakan from Tamil Nadu's Arakkonam has liabilities worth Rs 649 crore and TDP's Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy from Andhra Pradesh's Nellore has liabilities worth Rs 197 crore.

In the heart of India's southern landscape, a monumental shift unfolded on June 2, marking a pivotal moment in <keyword id="19896313" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh" source="keywords">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>'s history. Hyderabad bid adieu to its role as the administrative nucleus of Andhra as a tangible consequence of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014. Presently, the southern state has no capital, a fate that will likely change after the verdict of the <keyword id="21626076" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vidhan-Sabha-elections" source="keywords">Vidhan Sabha elections</keyword> is delivered. Now, trends as confirmed by the Election Commission of India suggest that the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena Party (JSP) coalition is poised to deliver a significant blow to the incumbent <keyword id="19973324" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="YSR-Congress-Party" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="YSR Congress Party" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="YSR Congress Party">YSR Congress Party</keyword> (YSRCP) in both Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections. At the time of writing this article, The <keyword id="19910623" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TDP" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="TDP" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="TDP">TDP</keyword>-JSP-BJP alliance has either won or leading in a whopping 158 out of the 175 seats, as per the ECI. And TDP leader <keyword id="20138505" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="N-Chandrababu-Naidu" source="keywords">N Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> is all set to take oath in Amaravathi as the Chief Minister on June 9. Similarly, in the Lok Sabha election, the NDA triparty alliance has won (or leads) in 21 out of 25 seats. Compared to their impressive vote share of nearly 50% in the 2019 assembly elections, YSRCP is facing a substantial setback, largely attributed to the compelling appeal of the alliance's promise of effective and progressive governance. In 2013, as a product of decades of political fervour and regional aspirations, <keyword id="19909031" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana" source="keywords">Telangana</keyword> became India's newest state. It necessitated the redefinition of Andhra Pradesh's administrative centre. And former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had set his sights on <keyword id="19926152" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amaravati" source="keywords">Amaravati</keyword> as the new capital, envisioning a modern hub of governance. Amaravati, with its promise of modernity and progress, symbolised Naidu's vision for a dynamic Andhra Pradesh. Yet, with the changing of the political guard came a divergence in vision. The unexpected rise of <keyword id="19936253" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jagan-Mohan-Reddy" source="keywords">Jagan Mohan Reddy</keyword> in 2019 ushered in a completely new and audacious vision of <keyword id="21938308" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="three-capitals" source="keywords">three capitals</keyword>! The current CM of Andhra affiliated with the YSR Congress Party revealed his vision of establishing a three-city plan with Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Kurnool sharing governance roles. With Visakhapatnam for executive functions, Amaravati for legislative affairs, and Kurnool for judicial matters, this plan reflected a departure from the conventional wisdom of centralised governance. Reddy's vision, born from a desire to uplift all corners of the state, challenged the conventional wisdom that a single capital must bear the burden of governance. It was a bold experiment — one that seeked to rewrite the script of regional development. Yet, amidst the cacophony of political rhetoric and legal battles, the fate of Andhra Pradesh's administrative apparatus hung in a limbo. The High Court's intervention, compelling the state to honour the commitments made by its predecessor, added another layer of complexity to an already convoluted saga. In April 2024, Naidu asserted that should he come to power in Andhra, Amaravati would remain the enduring capital of the state, adding that the city embodied the pride of Telugu people. Speaking at a gathering in Tadikonda, Guntur district, during his Praja Galam public meetings, Naidu stated firmly, "This isn't just Tadikonda; this is Amaravati. I assure you all from this platform that no force can disrupt Amaravati's future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JSP president Pawan Kalyan, and I are committed to its development." Naidu also accused YSRC president and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of commencing his tenure by demolishing the 'Praja Vedika' (Grievance Hall). The 74-year-old legislator pledged to rebuild the Praja Vedika promptly upon regaining power. Meanwhile, the new CM of Andhra already has his work cut out for him. With Hyderabad's departure, a logistical domino effect has ensued — offices, assets, and infrastructure must find new homes. The bureaucratic machinery, once anchored in Hyderabad, now faces the challenge of redefining its locus. The fate of over 55 buildings, prime symbols of administrative authority, lies in the hands of policymakers. The intricate process of bifurcating government corporations, training institutions, and assets demands meticulous planning and foresight. The transition from Hyderabad to a new capital is not just about changing addresses; it's about reimagining governance itself. In the corridors of power, negotiations simmer as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana navigate the delicate dance of asset allocation. The fate of institutions like the Film Development Corporation and the Women's Finance Corporation hangs in the balance, awaiting resolution in the crucible of political negotiation.

According to doctors he was brought to the hospitals in an unconscious state but was revived after 20 minutes of CPR. He was put on a ventilator and his condition was critical. Krishna's son and popular actor Mahesh Babu and other family members were present at the hospital.
