In contrast, <keyword id="1886157" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ram-Leela">Ram-Leela</keyword>’s total <keyword id="182563" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BO">BO</keyword> collection stood at a little less than Rs 60 crore after Day IV, according to industry estimates. 
 <keyword id="122490" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="film-critic">Film critic</keyword> and analyst <keyword id="107593" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Taran-Adarsh">Taran Adarsh</keyword> is, however, constantly tweeting about how the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer is doing a great job overseas. Its total screen count in the international arena stands at 550 and the <keyword id="6356021" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="movie">movie</keyword> had a superb start in the UAE-GCC, the US, <keyword id="6356687" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="canada">Canada</keyword> and Australia.

As expected, the film has come with all the usual SLB trappings. Deepika ‘hot-bod’ Padukone and the equally hot Ram have whipped up a sizzling chemistry rarely found on-screen. Well, well, she has been doing it for some time now – right from <keyword id="115922" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Race-2">Race 2</keyword> to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express. Shot in the backdrop of Gujarat (Kutch, to be precise), the film also has <keyword id="20895" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Supriya-Pathak">Supriya Pathak</keyword>, <keyword id="6366549" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Richa-Chadda">Richa Chadda</keyword> and <keyword id="651479" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gulshan-Devaiah">Gulshan Devaiah</keyword> in some key roles. And the story, loosely based on <keyword id="87923" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="William-Shakespeare">William Shakespeare</keyword>’s epic romance Romeo and Juliet, has an overdose of everything – vibrant set-up, ethnic costumes, mind-blowing music, great dance numbers and a subtle, satirical touch. 
 Still, the fact remains that it has not romped its way to the Rs <keyword id="6567206" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="100-crore-club">100 crore club</keyword> the way Deepika’s earlier two movies did (incidentally, <keyword id="6354563" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hrithik-Roshan">Hrithik Roshan</keyword>’s Krrish 3 is now the <keyword id="1943900" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Highest-Bollywood-grosser">highest Bollywood grosser</keyword> with Rs 231 crore till Nov 16 and still counting). Also, a <keyword id="271279" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Bareilly-court">Bareilly court</keyword> has directed today to lodge a case against the <keyword id="303" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Director">director</keyword> and the star cast of Ram-Leela, following a petition that it glorified <keyword id="6355987" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="violence">violence</keyword> and <keyword id="109676" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Obscenity">obscenity</keyword>. And that could spell further trouble for the movie. 
 Earlier too, a PIL had been filed on the ground that the movie has humiliated the <keyword id="624" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Women">women</keyword> of the <keyword id="1485927" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Darbar-community">Darbar community</keyword> and hurt religious sentiments. Several organisations have demanded a ban on the film and the opening day had been marred with protests and demonstrations. Would all be well with Ram-Leela in the coming weeks?

Created by The Viral Fever (TVF), the engaging drama is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki. It will drop on Prime Video on October 25. King of Kotha: Dulquer Salmaan-starrer period gangster action thriller film is directed by Abhilash Joshiy. It was released on August 24 in theatres. It is a story of organised crime, gangster thrills, drama, romance, and revenge. The story revolves around Kannan, also known as Kannan bhai, who rules the town with his gang and illegal activities. A righteous circle inspector, Shahul Hassan, arrives and confronts Kannan, leading to his humiliation. Seeking unconventional revenge, Shahul resurrects Raju, a once-notorious criminal who once ruled Kotha alongside Kannan. Touted as a mammoth release, the movie also stars other notable names like Shabeer Kallarakkal, Prasanna, Gokul Suresh, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shammi Thilakan, Saran, Shanthi Krishna, and Anikha Surendran. It will stream in Hindi on Disney+Hotstar, from October 20. Werewolf by Night in Color: 'Werewolf by Night' is an American television special directed by Michael Giacchino and written by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. It stars Gael Garcia Bernal as Jack Russell, Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone, and Harriet Sansom Harris as Verussa. It follows a secret group of monster hunters as they compete for a powerful relic while going up against a dangerous monster. It will stream on Disney + from October 20. <keyword id="19194348" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dark-hole" source="Orion">Dark Hole</keyword>: 'Dark Hole' is an enthralling Korean sci-fi action thriller drama that immerses survivors in a life-or-death struggle against mutants created by dark smoke emerging from a sinkhole. The upcoming series brings together Rajkummar Rao with <keyword id="845110" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dulquer-salman" source="Orion">Dulquer Salman</keyword>, Gulshan Devaiah and Adarsh Gourav. The streamer shared the show's release date on its platform. "Coming on 18 August," the tagline read. Inspired by the misfits of the world, "Guns &amp; Gulaabs" is set in the 90s. It is billed as a story that depicts love and innocence though it is set in a world of crime, as per the official description of the series. Produced under Raj &amp; DK's banner D2R Films, the show also features TJ Bhanu. "Guns &amp; Gulaabs" marks the first directorial venture of Raj &amp; DK with streamer Netflix. They earlier made shows "The <keyword id="502674" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="family-man" source="Orion">Family Man</keyword>" and "Farzi" for Prime Video and are currently working on the Indian chapter of "Citadel" for the streamer.

Family Man makers Raj and DK to bring their new series 'Guns & Gulaabs' to Netflix in August

Sonakshi Sinha's OTT series 'Dahaad' to debut on Prime Video in May

Today, OTT platforms in India are a dime a dozen. And every platform has a host of shows, original movies, docuseries, mockumentaries, and whatnot on offer. Only a handful of these projects, however, leave a mark on the audience. Going by the critics’ reviews and fan comments, the crime thriller Farzi, by director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK aka Raj &amp; DK, is well on its way to becoming one such show. Farzi marks the OTT debut of actor Shahid Kapoor and the Hindi-language debut of Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi. It chronicles the journey of a talented sketch artist, Sunny (played by Kapoor) who produces counterfeit money to initially save his grandfather - but later, succumbs to the greed of easy money. Sethupathi, meanwhile, plays a sassy cop with a penchant for personal mess and professional success- similar to Raj and DK’s other talented spy, Srikant Tiwari from their hit series The Family Man. Farzi also stars Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna and Bhuvan Arora in pivotal roles, along with brief but important cameos by Zakir Hussain, Kubbra Sait and Amol Palekar, among others. Though the concept is a tad more common and predictable than their other projects, Farzi still manages to hook your interest - thanks to impeccable performances. The eight-episode-long series released on Amazon Prime Video on February 10 and is <a href="https://twitter.com/rajndk/status/1625478730465570817/photo/3">trending worldwide – it’s </a>in the Top Ten on Prime in Australia, the US, the UK, UAE, Singapore and Canada Littered with references to The Family Man and even a minute callback to their earlier film 99, Farzi makes for a memorable addition to Raj and DK’s filmography, and their spy universe. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Delivering eclectic content since 2003" comment="subhead2" text="Delivering eclectic content since 2003">Delivering eclectic content since 2003</cmsannotation> Raj and DK made their debut with the romantic comedy Flavours in 2003. What’s common across their projects is an acute understanding of the world their protagonists inhabit - be it the working-class professionals who hate Mondays in Go Goa Gone or frustrated fathers caught between demanding children and bosses in The Family Man. In Farzi too, Kapoor’s mini monologue on the tragedy of being a middle-class Indian in the country has started doing the rounds on social media for being “relatable AF” - in the words of millennials and GenZs. Of course, the credit for this partially goes to the show’s co-writers, Suman Kumar and Sita Menon. Kumar also worked with the duo on The Family Man. But it’s also to do with how Raj and DK pursue a story - through detailed research, a healthy dose of sly humor, and in their own words, lots of writing: “Our writing process is extremely clinical – from the plot to the history of the characters, the screenplay – we want everything to be on paper. Also, we write a lot. Like a lot. We always want to have a lot of material to bounce things off. Some stories resurface because they were written for a different time. Sometimes two scripts merge to create something like Stree, which was in a different shape originally. The same goes for Family Man too,” shared DK <a href="https://www.gqindia.com/entertainment/content/the-family-man-raj-and-dk-interview">with GQ India</a>. Raj and DK produced Stree and also wrote the screenplay, with Sumit Arora writing the dialogues and Amar Kaushik directing the film. However, the duo has also pandered to commercialisation at times and indulged in overused tropes and cliches (for example, Happy Ending). Meanwhile, Citadel is a science-fiction action-drama starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Prabhu. The original American version has been created by the Russo Brothers (of Marvel fame) and stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. Just like the anti-hero of Farzi, few ‘artists’ in Bollywood possess the talent to break stereotypes and surpass tropes to create interesting content in a genre as cluttered as crime and comedy. Raj and DK are well on their way to not only attaining this tag but perhaps, even transitioning into auteurs - defining the genre, rather than just contributing to it. Produced by <keyword id="24468" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhushan-Kumar">Bhushan Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="15260" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="vikram-bhatt">Vikram Bhatt</keyword>, Hate Story 2 netted Rs 5.46 crore on the opening Friday (trade figure stood at Rs 4.61 crore) and went on to collect Rs 15.85 crore nett in the first three days (trade figure was Rs 14.30 crore). But there was the usual Monday drop and the movie collected around Rs 2.68 crore on the fourth day (trade figure was Rs 2.11 crore), thus netting a total of Rs 18.53 crore after Day 4. 
 
Hate Story 2 hit 600 screens across the country but thanks to the fantastic business it is doing, the distributors now want it to be released in 1,200 screens pan-India, as per media reports. The opening weekend collections of Hate Story 2 were bigger than some A-list movies, including <keyword id="6377522" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="queen">Queen</keyword>, Highway and Dedh Ishqiya, and the 15th highest in 2014. It had a budget of Rs 14 crore (cost and P&amp;A), which means the flick is making profits. Interestingly, the official trailer of Hate Story 2 crossed over 4 million views on <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword> within four days of its launch, but if you ask us, it’s a total put-off in many ways in spite of earning more than the other three releases. 
 
In stark contrast, Vir Das-Vega Tamotia-Anindita Nayar-starrer <keyword id="2336494" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amit-Sahni">Amit Sahni</keyword> Ki List turns out to be a refreshing <keyword id="1636016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="rom-com">rom-com</keyword> with loads of laughter and some pertinent points about relationships. But <keyword id="664154" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ajay-Bhuyan">Ajay Bhuyan</keyword>’s directorial endeavour failed to win hearts, netting a little over Rs 3.1 crore at home after the first Monday. Pizza 3D, a remake of the 2012 Tamil <keyword id="828468" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Supernatural">supernatural</keyword> thriller, came loaded with terror bytes but earned around Rs 2.87 crore nett in the first three days. Incidentally, the Tamil version of this movie was a sleeper hit. 
 
 
 
However, the worst is Ashok Tyagi-directed Riyasat, yet another version of Mario Puzo’s Godfather and <keyword id="1076" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="superstar">superstar</keyword> Rajesh Khanna’s (<keyword id="4753" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saheb">Saheb</keyword>) last outing. First day collections stood at a paltry Rs 36 lakh and the rest of the numbers are yet to come in. But industry insiders expect it to be a box office bomb and Khanna’s listless presence is not likely to help it. Although Aryan Vaid (Shakti), the elder son and heir, and <keyword id="15984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aryeman-Ramsay">Aryeman Ramsay</keyword> (his younger son <keyword id="3037" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vijay">Vijay</keyword>) performed well, India’s first-ever superstar was completely off-colour and looked totally under the weather – hardly a fitting tribute to an <keyword id="271" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="actor">actor</keyword> of his stature. 
 
Critically speaking, Amit Sahni Ki List still tops the list in spite of the box office debacle and the shoddy treatment of an intriguing script. Here we meet Amit Sahni (<keyword id="671" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vir-das">Vir Das</keyword>), an <keyword id="140092" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="investment-banker">investment banker</keyword> trying to find the perfect relationship and not get hurt in the process. His serio-comic vulnerability reminds one of the young gang from Dil Chahta Hai and the carefully made check list of partner’s qualities once again makes us realise life does not follow a perfect script in spite of all our efforts. But the movie loses pace in-between, loses coherence and a drab ending ultimately mars the freshness. 
 Directed by debutant <keyword id="2174779" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Akkineni">Akshay Akkineni</keyword>, Pizza 3D captures the paranormal experiences of Kunal (<keyword id="480238" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Oberoi">Akshay Oberoi</keyword>), a <keyword id="1079002" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="pizza-delivery-boy">pizza delivery boy</keyword> married to the <keyword id="2437008" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="horror-thriller-writer">horror thriller writer</keyword> <keyword id="741" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nikita">Nikita</keyword> (<keyword id="12341" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Parvathy-Omanakuttan">Parvathy Omanakuttan</keyword>). What follows is a terror fest, with loads of twists and turns, leading to a climax that is spooky enough to please horror fans. However, the 3D effects did not add much to the terror elements. 
 
Overall, an average week for Bollywood, but you are bound to experience some dhamaka when Salman Khan-Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer <keyword id="6362088" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="kick">Kick</keyword> is released on July 25.
