<br /><br /> Around the world, there are several examples of entrepreneurs with hobbies about as crazy as their ideas. Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and <keyword id="156689" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tesla-Motors">Tesla Motors</keyword>, collects James Bond memorabilia. <keyword id="6354630" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mark-Zuckerberg">Mark Zuckerberg</keyword> of Facebook prefers eating what he kills. <keyword id="6629386" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Henry-Ford">Henry Ford</keyword> who built an automotive empire liked to restore historical buildings. For India's startup entrepreneurs and investors, too, tried and tested hobbies won't do. <br /><br /> <keyword id="2933507" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Guhesh-Ramanathan">Guhesh Ramanathan</keyword>, who runs startup incubator Excubator, got hooked to scuba diving 17 years ago and is now an avid underwater photographer. "I think I've become pretty damn good at it," said Ramanathan, a former <keyword id="28115" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Intel">Intel</keyword> executive. Having founded and helped consult at many companies, Ramanathan was itching for a change in 1998. He discovered this hobby at 35 and decided to seriously invest in it. Plus, he wanted bragging rights to being the only one in his friends' circle to be a certified scuba diver. The effect was so overpowering that he combined his underwater lessons with his work experience and penned them into a book: "Scuba Sutras". <br /><br />

	"The lessons for business leaders come from many different places. What if I could get business insights from my experiences with scuba diving?" said Ramanathan.
<br /><br /> Srikanth Nadhamuni, ceo of start-up incubator <keyword id="1959022" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Khosla-Labs">Khosla Labs</keyword> loves designing and creating nice and elegant things. His intricately designed garage is a proof of it. The four pillars adorning the wall were picked off a junkyard in Mysore, and he spent weekends removing paint, grime and fungi on the wood and carving it deeper to make the intricate patterns stand out. The garage is now an entertainment center for his family of four. <br /><br />

	"Designing is about fixing things. Much like coding," said said Nadhamuni, who laboured eight months on the restoration. The pillars are topped off with protruding wooden arches that he designed on Adobe Illustrator. Between the pillars is a wooden door with intricate patterns, also designed using the same software. 
<br /><br /> <keyword id="2933506" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sanjay-Parthasarathy">Sanjay Parthasarathy</keyword>, cofounder of big data firm Indix, gets his lessons from his habit of collecting contemporary art the past 25 years. His collection spans 700 photographs, sculptures and paintings, the latter two focused on contemporary Indian and modern genres. He showcased some of his collection at Seattle's Art Museum in December. <br /><br /> "My challenge is how come I'm not spending all my time on it," said the former Microsoft veteran, who raised $15 million (.95 crore) from Nokia Growth Partners, Nexus Venture Partners and <keyword id="1626954" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Avalon-Ventures">Avalon Ventures</keyword> in June. <br />

Engaging in crazy hobbies help come up with creative solutions at work

New Delhi, Feb 1 () The Finance Minister's focus to provide impetus to the travel and tourism sector along with development of transportation infrastructure will accelerate the sector's contribution towards country's economy, according to industry players.
<p> "Increased allocation of funds for the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture, development of financial roadmaps for tourist destinations and plans to assign specified grants for states will go a long way in accelerating the contribution of the sector towards India's economy," MakeMyTrip Co-founder and CEO-India Rajesh Magow said.
</p><p> Presenting the Budget for 2020-21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said Rs 3,150 crore has been allocated for the Ministry of Culture and Rs 2,500 crore for the Ministry of Tourism.
</p><p> "Additionally, development of five iconic archeological sites across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu comes as a strategic step towards boosting domestic and inbound heritage tourism to these states," Magow said.
</p><p> According to Thomas Cook India Chairman and MD Madhavan Menon said, "... an Indian Institute of Heritage and Conservation will be set up with the status of a deemed university, and this is an imperative towards education and skill development of our sector that contributes a significant 10 per cent to India's GDP".
</p><p> The Union Budget intended to give impetus to the Travel and Tourism sector with the allocation of Rs 2,500 crore and equally critical allocation of Rs 1.7 lakh crore towards transportation infrastructure in 2020-21, he added.
</p><p> In similar vein, ITC Ltd Executive Director and Chairman-FAITH Nakul Anand said "the allocation to develop 100 new airports by 2024 and the soon to be introduced Tejas trains for iconic destinations are advancements in modern infrastructure that augur well for Indian tourism."
</p><p> InterGlobe Hotels President and CEO J B Singh said, "we are hoping that this budget will help in creating and developing new and iconic destinations, thereby redefining the tourism industry, for the better and further improve spending, domestic travel and all this will have great long term benefits for the economy".
</p><p> Stating that the vision of government to invest in the tourism sector will be a great push for the hospitality sector, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels MD Vijay Dewan said: "India's heritage and culture rich experiences have always attracted tourists to the country and government's plan to develop five archaeological sites at iconic sites with on-site museums will attract more tourists from India and globally."
</p><p> Sterling Holidays CMD  Ramesh Ramanathan said: "We are pleased with the proposed budget, as it will play a pivotal role in the hospitality and domestic tourism sector, and will have a multiplier effect across the board."
</p><p> Travel Food Services COO and Business Head Gaurav Dewan said: "The government's focus on development is clear and reinforced with the allocation of additional funds to the Airport, Railway and the Highway sectors."
</p><p> This will boost business and leisure travel thereby generating employment, connectivity and overall economic development of catchment areas, he added.
</p><p> "The government's push for infrastructure development by building more airports and the announcement of new Tejas trains will boost tourism outside the main centers. This, in turn, will have a positive impact on the hotel sector," Cygnett Hotels and Resorts Founder and MD Sarbendra Sarkar said.

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>There's a new moon coming around, which is good news for viewers because it sets the stage for what will be the most spectacular meteor shower of the year: the Perseid meteor shower.<p>The Perseid meteor shower takes places each year from the end of July through most of August, but there's always a peak time when we can see the most meteors pummeling our atmosphere and lighting up the night sky</p><p>That opportune time will happen this week in the wee hours of the morning at 4 am ET on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to <a href="http://www.universetoday.com/121599/kick-back-look-up-were-in-for-a-great-perseid-meteor-shower/">Universe Today</a>.</p><p>During that time, observers will be treated to between 50 to 100 meteors per hour, or about one to two per minute!</p><p>If you're not a morning person - or a night person depending on how you look at it - you can still see at least a handful of meteors between the hours of midnight and dawn on Aug. 11, 12, 13, and 14.</p><p>The Perseids are always one of the most stunning annual meteor showers, but this year's show will be especially beautiful because it takes place around the same time as this month's new moon on Aug. 14.</p><p>"The nearly moonless sky this year means the viewing will be excellent," Alan MacRobert, a senior editor at <a href="http://www.skyandtelescope.com/press-releases/2015-perseid-meteors/">Sky &amp; Telescope</a>, wrote. Observers will have an almost completely dark sky with which to spot the Perseid meteors as they trace lines of white light across the night sky.</p><h1>The best way to watch</h1><p>The best way to watch any meteor shower is to find the darkest, clearest skies possible. That means getting as far away from city lights as you can. After that, you just need to direct your gaze skyward and enjoy the show - no special observing equipment necessary.</p><p>Unfortunately, for some across the US, cloudy conditions will prevent optimal viewing. If that's the case for you, don't worry: You can still watch the shower live.</p><p><a href="http://blogs.nasa.gov/Watch_the_Skies/">NASA is offering</a> a live broadcast beginning Aug. 12 at 10 pm ET and running through to 2 am, Aug 13. When a comet travels through the solar system, parts of it are blown off by the wind from the sun and left behind as the comet's dust tail.</p><p>As Earth passes through this tail, the tiny remains collide with Earth's atmosphere at about 130,000 mph.</p><p>This week's Perseid meteor shower comes from the leftovers of Comet Swift-Tuttle - named for its two co-founders, Lewis Swift and Horace Parnell Tuttle, who found it in 1862.</p><p>When Swift-Tuttle's icy bits enter the atmosphere at such tremendous speeds, they rub against molecules in their, generating heat from friction. The heat grows to 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit and vaporizes the piece of the comet. The light we see in the sky is actually the air around the comet that is so blazing hot that it radiates light.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table full"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Though the comet was only discovered about 150 years ago, our ancestors have been witnessing the Perseid meteor shower for millennia. The<a href="http://meteorshowersonline.com/perseids.html"> first documented sighting</a> is recorded in the Chinese annals dated to 36 AD. The encryption translates to: "more than 100 meteors flew thither in the morning."<p>Comet Swift-Tuttle is about 16 miles across and takes 133 years to orbit the sun. Each time it makes its way to the inner solar system, it passes close to Earth. In fact, it's the largest object in the solar system that makes repeated close approaches to Earth at dangerously high speeds of over 130,000 mph.</p><p><a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=4gnumbZdVqEC&amp;printsec=frontcover&amp;hl=en#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false">Some have gone</a> so far as to call it the "the single most dangerous object known to humanity," because if it collided with Earth, the results would be catastrophic. But don't worry too much:</p><p>Astronomers predict that the next time this comet will pass uncomfortably close - about 2.7 million miles away - will be in the year 4479.
