A woman riding pillion on a motorcycle was groped and harassed by a group of men in a <keyword id="22629766" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="waterlogged-area" source="keywords">waterlogged area</keyword> here, prompting police to arrest four people and take action against eight officials, including the <keyword id="19916219" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DCP" source="keywords">DCP</keyword> concerned. While five police personnel, including the local police station incharge, were suspended, the deputy commissioner of police (East <keyword id="19945772" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lucknow" source="keywords">Lucknow</keyword>), additional DCP and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) were shunted out for <keyword id="20010019" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="negligence" source="keywords">negligence</keyword>, an official statement said on Thursday. <br /><br />A purported video of the incident, which took place near the underpass close to the Taj Hotel in the posh <keyword id="20727159" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gomti-Nagar" source="keywords">Gomti Nagar</keyword> area on Wednesday, went viral on social media. <br /><br />In the video, the men are seen splashing water on the motorcycle wading through the waterlogged road. The men quickly surround the motorcycle and some start pulling it from behind. Amidst the melee, while the man driving the motorcycle tries to pull through, at least one of the accused gropes the woman who is riding pillion. <br /><br />The men stop pulling the motorcycle only when the woman falls down. <br /><br />"Taking cognizance of the incident, an FIR was lodged at Gomti Nagar police station. These stations will act as 'City Centres' integrating both sides of the city. 150 cartons of chocolate worth ₹17 lakh stolen from a Lucknow godown

Other patients are recovering at home and are stable, said health officials.<br /><br />Chief Medical Officer Manoj Agrawal said: "The situation is under control. Activities like anti larvae sprinkle and fogging are being done in the affected areas. Besides, beds have been reserved in hospitals. We have directed rapid response teams to visit these areas with instructions to send a report if anyone is found with dengue symptoms."<br /><br />However, no death due to dengue has been reported yet in the state capital. SP leader and ex-minister K.P. Yadav who got infected in Jaunpur, died due to dengue shock syndrome while under treatment in a hospital in Lucknow on September 1.<br /><br />The Health Department teams found larvae of Aedes aegypti, the mosquito that is carrier of dengue virus, at 37 houses in Faizullaganj and Malihabad localities.<br /><br />Larvae were also found in a mall in Vikas Nagar.<br /><br />"At most places, the larvae were found in flower pots or desert coolers. By Abhinav Pandey <p>Lucknow, Apr 8 () Once on the verge of starvation following the countrywide lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus, a differently abled man here is now serving food to thousands of deprived families. </p><p> Like many, life came to a standstill for Tej Bahadur Yadav (36) when the Centre announced the lockdown in the country.</p><p>  Yadav, who runs an e-rickshaw, was affected by polio.</p><p> "Whatever saving I had was spent within four to five days, and my family was on the verge of starvation when the lockdown was announced. It was difficult for me to feed my wife, who is also differently abled, and two children - a four-year-old daughter and six-year-old son," he told . </p><p> On March 27, Yadav had gone to collect food for his family at a community kitcken in Gomti Nagar Extension, where locals and government officials were distributing food for the needy. </p><p> While others left after taking the food, Yadav stayed there and offered his services.  </p><p> Recalling the day, Gomti Nagar Extension Mahasamiti, Secretary, Uma Shankar Dubey said, "Looking at him standing on one leg, I thought he wanted more food packets, but he offered to work to provide food to the deprived people.  </p><p>"At that time, I did not think of any work for him, but when he insisted, I asked him what he could do. He said he runs e-rickshaw and can help in distributing food," the official said. </p><p> "And most importantly, he insisted that he will not take anything for his services, and that he wanted to do something for the society at this crucial time," Dubey said.  </p><p> Since, then it has become the daily routine of Yadav to reach the community kitchen at 10 am, recharge his  e-rickshaw and take food packets to the needy. </p><p> "I had no money, I cannot walk, but I can ride e-rickshaw and I offered what I can do the best. At a time, I carry 500 food packets and take them to wherever there is a need. I distribute over 1,500 food packets till evening. It gives me immense satisfaction that I can do something for the society," he said. </p><p> Yadav has received widespread appreciation after people came to know about his story.  </p><p> About his family, the Barabanki resident said his father worked as a guard in Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and had died in 2017. He said his brother took away all the insurance money and other resources due to which he decided to run e-rickshaw to feed his family. </p><p> Dubey said Yadav is punctual and performs every task with vigour.</p><p> "He is an inspiration to the society. After the lockdown ends, we will discuss his case with the authorities and try to get him disability pension or other relief, " the official added.  </p>  ABN  SRY

COVID-19 lockdown: Fighting hunger, differently abled man now serves food to needy

A successful doctor couple in their 60s, who live in the posh Gomti Nagar locality in Lucknow, received both doses of <keyword id="8764262" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">Covid</keyword> <keyword id="24209" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="vaccine">vaccine</keyword> last month. Re-energised, they resumed private practice at their clinic. But to their horror, both of them have now been found Covid positive.<br /><br />A family member told  on condition of anonymity that even she and her kid are now Covid positive as she visited her parents in the last few days.<br /><br />They are not alone as news emerged from Lucknow that at least 40 doctors of King George's Medical University (KGMU), including Vice Chancellor Lt Gen (retd) Vipin Puri, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, despite most of them taking both the doses of the vaccine.<br /><br />Alarmingly, this is the second time since last August that Vice Chancellor Puri has been infected by the virus, indicating that re-infection is also happening. He was administered the second dose of vaccine on March 25.<br /><br />As India doubles down on vaccination, such reports are worrisome as they may desist people from going for the jab.<br /><br />Satish Kaul, <keyword id="59888" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HoD">HOD</keyword> and Director, internal medicine, Narayana Hospital, Gurugram, said that the vaccine basically provides protection from the severity of the <keyword id="6361612" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="disease">disease</keyword>.<br /><br />"It saves us from getting chronically sick; it potentially saves us from ICU, ventilator and oxygen support and helps weaken the mechanism of the disease in human body," Kaul told.<br /><br />"Hence, vaccine beneficiaries are supposed to continue wearing <keyword id="9418" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="masks">masks</keyword>, maintain social distancing and observe Covid-appropriate behaviour even after getting vaccinated. Also, after taking the second dose, be extra cautious for at least two weeks and follow all precautionary measures," he advised.<br /><br />WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris said during a <keyword id="6355833" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="united-nations">United Nations</keyword> news briefing on Tuesday that at this stage, "we would not like to see <keyword id="11054922" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="vaccination-passports">vaccination passports</keyword> as a requirement for entry or exit because we are not sure at this stage that the vaccine prevents transmissions".<br /><br />Vaccine passports are the digital proof that a person is fully vaccinated before starting any travel. A few options for vaccine passports exist for Americans and other countries and regions are also working on such digital travel documents.<br /><br />According to Neha Gupta, infectious diseases specialist at Medanta-The Medicity Gurgaon, vaccination doesn't guarantee 100 per cent immunity against novel coronavirus.<br /><br />"However, the vaccine decreases the severity of the disease. Doctor couple tests positive after receiving two doses of COVID-19 vaccine in Lucknow

<p>  Lucknow, Apr 9 () Police have stepped up vigil and barricades were erected in eight major and four minor COVID-19 hotspots in the Uttar Pradesh capital that have been completely sealed to check the spread of the the deadly virus.</p><p> Police teams are carrying out patrolling in these localities to ensure that nobody ventures out of their homes, Police Commissioner, Lucknow, Sujit Pandey said.</p><p>"All the hotspots in the city are already barricaded and are being sealed completely till the morning of April 15. All establishments will be closed in these localities and the media's entry too will be restricted," he said.</p><p> Only basic minimum supply of essential commodities will be maintained in these localities, Pandey said.</p><p> He said fire brigade vehicles will sanitise these areas and only select cleaning staff will be allowed to enter the hotspots. </p><p> The eight major hotspots in the state capital included localities near eight mosques where Tablighi Jamaat members were found staying. </p><p> The minor hotspots are in Vijay Khand and Gomti Nagar, where four members of a family including a two and a half years old child tested positive for COVID-19.</p><p> A locality near Alina Enclave in Khurramnagar, where a local tested positive, has also been marked as minor hotspot.</p><p> Another minor hotspot is in a locality in the Madiaon area after a man tested positive there. A locality near a clinic at Munshipulia, where a man infected with COVID-19 was treated for some time, has also been declared a hotspot.</p><p> The Uttar Pradesh government had on Wednesday decided to completely seal off coronavirus hotspots in 15 districts to stop the spread of the infection, announcing curfew-like restrictions there. </p><p> Officials had said the administration will ensure doorstep delivery of items like vegetables and milk in these clusters.</p><p> Passes issued to allow essential movement are cancelled in these hotspots which will remain "sealed" up to April 15 morning, when the current three-week nationwide lockdown is scheduled to end, they had said.</p> Uttar Pradesh has so far reported over 360 coronavirus cases.
