<keyword id="6359861" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Veteran">Veteran</keyword> industrialist Adi Godrej will step down as chairman as well as from the board of directors of <keyword id="167591" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Godrej-Industries-Ltd">Godrej Industries Ltd</keyword>, passing on the baton to his younger brother Nadir Godrej, effective October 1, according to a company statement. The 79-year-old industrialist will continue to serve as chairman of the <keyword id="133008" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Godrej-group">Godrej Group</keyword> and chairman emeritus of GIL, said the statement. "Nadir Godrej, who is currently managing director of GIL, will take over as chairman and managing director of the company," it added. GIL is a holding company of the Godrej Group. It has significant interests in consumer goods, real estate, agriculture, chemicals and financial services through its subsidiary and associate companies, across 18 countries. Adi Godrej has served GIL for almost four decades. New Delhi, Feb 14 () V-Sciences Investment, an investment arm of Temasek, on Friday offloaded nearly 38 lakh shares of Godrej Agrovet for a little over Rs 204 crore through open market transactions. According to bulk deal data available with the BSE, a total of 37,84,738 shares of Godrej Agrovet, agri-business firm of Godrej Industries, were sold by V-Sciences Investment Pte Ltd. The shares were offloaded on an average price of Rs 539.13, valuing the transaction at Rs 204.04 crore, the data added. Meanwhile, Godrej Industries picked up 32,20,000 shares of the agri-business company. At the end of the December 2019 quarter, V-Sciences Investment held 2,47,07,698 shares, amounting to 12.87 per cent stake, of Godrej Agrovet. Shares of Godrej Agrovet closed at Rs 520.30 apiece on the BSE, down 6.45 per cent from the previous close. SP HRS

Temasek investment arm sells Godrej Agrovet shares worth Rs 204 cr

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Godrej Industries Ltd on Thursday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 216.32 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2019. The company, which announced reappointment of Nadir Godrej as its managing director for a period of three years, had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 156.42 crore in the year-ago quarter. Revenue from operations during the third quarter this fiscal stood at Rs 2,696.31 crore. It was Rs 2,417.58 crore in the same period a year ago. The company said during the previous year, one of its subsidiaries had acquired control of Godrej Tyson Foods Ltd and Godrej Maxximilk Pvt Ltd and they became subsidiaries with effect from March 27, 2019. Accordingly consolidated financial results of the current quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2019 include results of these acquired firms. Hence, the consolidated financial results of the current quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2019 are not comparable with the financial results of the corresponding previous periods, the company said. On Godrej's reappointment, the company said the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of the Board of Directors had recommended the proposal. The board approved the re-appointment of managing director of the company for a further period of three years commencing from April 1, 2020 upto March 31, 2023 subject to approval of the shareholders. Godrej Indistries also said its board has approved investment of up to Rs 5OO crore by way of subscription or purchase of securities or otherwise in Godrej Agrovet Ltd, its subsidiary company subject to shareholder approval. Godrej Industries Q3 net at Rs 216.32 cr

The land was purchased from the <keyword id="53" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="kapoor" source="Orion">Kapoor</keyword> family, legal heirs of Raj Kapoor, the company said in a regulatory filing. The deal value has not been disclosed. The site is located at Deonar Farm Road, Chembur, Mumbai, adjacent to <keyword id="6356045" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-institute-of-social-sciences" source="Orion">Tata Institute of Social Sciences</keyword> (TISS). Godrej Properties acquires Raj Kapoor's Bungalow in Mumbai

New Delhi, Dec 12 () Realty firm Godrej Properties on Thursday said it has added four new projects in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Bengaluru comprising 12.7 million sq ft of developable area.
 The company, a real estate arm of business conglomerate Godrej group, said it has added three new projects at Navi Mumbai, Ambernath, and Thane in MMR and one new project in North Bengaluru.
 "These new projects will add approximately 1.18 million square metres (12.70 million sq ft) to its development portfolio," Godrej Properties said in a statement.
 Godrej Properties has entered a joint venture to develop a township project of over 100 acres in the residential market of Navi Mumbai. This project will offer about 7.5 million sq ft of development area and will be built as a residential project with a retail component.
 The second project is a joint venture with Nisarg Nirman Developers to build a land parcel of about 6.4 acres in Ambernath. This project will offer about 1.1 million sq ft of development area and will be developed as a group housing project.
 The third project is an outright purchase of land in Thane. Spread across about 8 acres, this project will offer about 1.1 million sq ft of development area.
 Godrej Properties has formed a JV with the promoters of Universal Builders to develop a affordable housing project in North Bengaluru. This project will have developable area of about 3 million sq ft spread over 22 acre land.
 On adding these four projects in the company's portfolio, Godrej Properties Executive Chairman Pirojsha Godrej said, "This fits well with our strategy of building our presence in the country's leading real estate markets and will add momentum to our plans to grow market share during the period of dislocation the industry is currently facing. We look forward to delivering outstanding projects across these locations".

And that's a little bit of a worry, because even for a ₹5 product if the consumer is thinking twice before buying it, then there is some serious issue in the economy,” he said. New Delhi, Feb 27 () Chicken sales in India have come down over 50 per cent and prices by 70 per cent in the last one month as speculation swirled on social media that chicken causes coronavirus disease, denting both demand and prices, a top Godrej Agrovet official said on Thursday. Godrej Agrovet Managing Director B S Yadav said its poultry arm Godrej Tyson Foods has also taken a beating as sales have dropped sharply by 40 per cent in last one month from 6,00,000 birds a week, he said. However, once the rumours die down and consumption rises in the next 2-3 months, there would be a shortage of chicken in the country causing sharp rise in prices, he noted. Yadav also mentioned that the government has issued advisories that coronavirus does not spread from chicken and asked state governments to take action against rumour mongers. "Chicken is safe in India but rumours on spread of coronavirus from chicken has dented demand sharply in our country by over 50 per cent in just one month and ex-farm gate prices have also fallen by 70 per cent," Yadav told reporters. Chicken sales have come down to 35 million birds a week from 75 birds a week across the country, while ex-farm gate prices have dropped over 70 per cent to Rs 35 per kg from Rs 100 per kg in last one month although the cost of production is about Rs 75 per kg, he said. "The entire poultry industry and farmers have been affected because of WhatsApp rumour about coronavirus spread from chicken. The surplus production has build up now which is being disposed at a lesser price," Yadav said. Godrej Tyson Foods sells both fresh and frozen chicken and value-added products in the brand name 'Real Good Chicken' and 'Yummiez'. The company has two chicken units in the country. The company is the largest chicken producer in the country followed by Venky's and Suguna Foods. Yadav also said per capital consumption of chicken in India is at 4.5 kg, lower than the global average of 11 kg. The consumption is highest in Tamil Nadu at 13 kg, while least in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. 'Chicken sales down 50%, prices by 70% in India on coronavirus rumour'

Bhopal, Feb 19 () Growth of consumer durables segment is expected to pick up in the last quarter taking the sector's expansion in 2019-20 to 15 per cent, an industry official said on Wednesday. The expert also said that the economic slowdown has not affected the sector, which grew by 10 per cent in the first three quarters of 2019-20, as people continue to spend on consumer products like ACs, refrigerators, washing machines and other appliances. The last quarter would be much better than first three, so overall growth in the current fiscal year is expected to be over 15 per cent, Sanjeev Jain, National Sales Head, Godrej Appliances, told reporters here. The sector has grown at around 10 per cent in the current financial year, he added.Asked about the effect of economic slowdown, Jain saidthat this has not affected the sector because people are spending on their needs of consumer products. Talking about the growth in the next five years, he said the consumer durable sector is expected to double the market size to Rs 1 lakh crore by 2025."It is expected that the size of the consumer durable sector would be doubled to over Rs 1 lakh crore from present around Rs 55,000-crore because of growing needs of products in the day-to-day life of the people," Jain said. On the occasion, Godrej launched a new range of air-coolers in MP. Jain said that the organised sector has only 40 per cent share in the air-cooler market in the country, which involves the sale of one-core units.
