Demand for renting the equipment is high and the capital investments will be by Godrej Rentrust eyeing a share of the same, a statement said. Pegging the overall market at Rs 2,200 crore, the company said it is eyeing business in the auto, engineering, chemicals and pharma, food and beverages, fast-moving consumer goods, logistics, ecommerce and retail sectors. Godrej Group arm to invest ₹100 crore to acquire material handling equipment to be rented out

<keyword id="45432" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="godrej-properties" source="Orion">Godrej Properties</keyword> Ltd on Friday said it has acquired legendary film actor, director, and producer <keyword id="6358412" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="raj-kapoor" source="Orion">Raj Kapoor</keyword>'s Bungalow at Chembur in <keyword id="6358070" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mumbai" source="Orion">Mumbai</keyword> to develop a luxury housing project. The land was purchased from the <keyword id="53" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="kapoor" source="Orion">Kapoor</keyword> family, legal heirs of Raj Kapoor, the company said in a regulatory filing. The deal value has not been disclosed. The site is located at Deonar Farm Road, Chembur, Mumbai, adjacent to <keyword id="6356045" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-institute-of-social-sciences" source="Orion">Tata Institute of Social Sciences</keyword> (TISS). In May 2019, Godrej Properties had acquired R K Studios in Chembur from the Kapoor family to develop a premium mixed-use project Godrej RKS. The project is expected to be delivered this year. Godrej Properties acquires Raj Kapoor's Bungalow in Mumbai

<keyword id="6359861" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Veteran">Veteran</keyword> industrialist Adi Godrej will step down as chairman as well as from the board of directors of <keyword id="167591" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Godrej-Industries-Ltd">Godrej Industries Ltd</keyword>, passing on the baton to his younger brother Nadir Godrej, effective October 1, according to a company statement. The 79-year-old industrialist will continue to serve as chairman of the <keyword id="133008" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Godrej-group">Godrej Group</keyword> and chairman emeritus of GIL, said the statement. "Nadir Godrej, who is currently managing director of GIL, will take over as chairman and managing director of the company," it added. GIL is a holding company of the Godrej Group. It has significant interests in consumer goods, real estate, agriculture, chemicals and financial services through its subsidiary and associate companies, across 18 countries. Adi Godrej has served GIL for almost four decades. Adi Godrej to step down as Godrej Industries' chairman and board of directors

<ul><li><keyword id="141771" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Godrej-Appliances">Godrej Appliances</keyword> said that it will augment production capacity by 1.9 million units by 2022. </li><li>It plans to introduce newer technologies and carry out backward integration. </li></ul>Godrej Appliances on Monday said it will invest Rs 700 crore to increase its annual appliance production capacity by 19 lakh units by 2022, taking it up to 65 lakh units per annum.
 The appliances maker also plans to introduce newer technologies and carry out backward integration.
 "Godrej Appliances is all set to invest another Rs 700 crore by 2022. This latest announcement takes the tally of Godrej Appliances' investment in capacity and technology expansion to Rs 1,100 Crore over a period of six years," the Godrej &amp; Boyce Mfg Co unit said.
 The fresh investment is aimed at raising the company's annual appliance production capacity by 19 lakh units by 2022, increasing it up to 65 lakh units per annum, it added.
 With this investment, Godrej Appliances plans to double the current capacity for washing machines - both fully automatic top load and semi-automatic - at its Shirwal and Mohali plants.
 "The brand also plans to introduce a new product line for fully automatic front load washing machines with annual capacity of 4 lakh units," it added.
 In the refrigerator category, Godrej Appliances intends to augment the production capacity by 33 per cent in both premium range and mass range.
 "The investment is also directed towards manufacturing of power-efficient chest freezers and 30 lakh units of compressors utilising newer technology in the product and processes. Part of the outlay will be for backward integration of air conditioners at the Shirwal factory," it added.
 Godrej Appliances has also decided to up the ante to amplify the on-going premiumisation focus.
 The company's Business Head and Executive Vice President Kamal Nandi said, "This investment broadens Godrej Appliances' capability and reflects its commitment to providing customers with exceptional products, while attesting our alignment towards 'Make in India'.
 "Through this expansion, we aim to take brand Godrej to even greater heights utilising our strength of manufacturing expertise. The proposed expansion, once complete, will allow us to meet the increasing demand for premium products from Indian customers better."
 Godrej Appliances, a business unit of Godrej &amp; Boyce Mfg Co Ltd, is present in the segment such as air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens and air purifiers.
 It has a network of 23,000 dealer and retailer outlets, and is present across India through over 100 exclusive brand outlets.

Godrej beats slowdown blues to invest ₹700 cr and expand its appliance production

It is unlikely for <keyword id="6364063" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Adi-Godrej">Adi Godrej</keyword>, the chairman of <keyword id="133008" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Godrej-group">Godrej group</keyword>, to wash his dirty linen in public, but the world saw him in a fierce mood when he publicly accused former employee and business partner <keyword id="2035974" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arumugham-Mahendran">Arumugham Mahendran</keyword> of ethical and legal breach. He said that Mahendran was planning to launch new products that will be in direct competition with popular Godrej brands Good Knight and Hit. 
 Mahendran had worked closely with Godrej for over 15 years, being the MD of the Rs 9,000-crore Godrej Consumer Products (<keyword id="6508589" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="GCPL">GCPL</keyword>) before he left the group in 2013 with an aim to start his own business. He also held some shares in at least four Godrej group companies. 
 
"I am extremely disappointed with Mahendran," Godrej told ET. "Him launching household insecticides is both a serious ethical and legal breach." 
 While accusing Mahendran, Godrej also spoke about his surprise over <keyword id="6361649" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword>, the investor backing Mahendran's venture. 
 
"I am also very surprised that global investors like Goldman Sachs are allowing this to happen under their watch," he said. 
 
Mahendran, on the other hand, maintained that he was under no contract to not enter the insecticide business. "In spite of my not having a non-compete agreement with Godrej, it was on ethical grounds I chose not to enter the insecticide business for three years," Mahendran said. "I hold Mr Godrej and the family in high esteem and am very surprised to hear their comments," he added. 
 
Mahendran is busy launching insecticides under the brand name DND through his new venture Global Consumer Products, which is backed by Goldman Sachs. He would be controlling 20% of Global Consumer Products along with his family while the rest would be held by Goldman Sachs and Japanese investor Mitsui.

Friends turn foes? Adi Godrej accuses former MD of legal breach over plans to launch competing products

Realty firm Godrej Properties on Friday launched a luxury housing project at iconic R K Studios' land in Mumbai. 
 In May last year, the company had announced the acquisition of the land in Chembur to develop mixed-use project comprising luxury flats and retail space.
 Godrej Properties, part of Godrej group, had said that the project spread across 2.2 acre would offer about 3.5 lakh sq ft of saleable area. The company had not disclosed the deal value.
 The company on Friday said it is launching a luxurious residential development at <keyword id="29457" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="RK-Studios">RK Studios</keyword>, Chembur. Godrej Properties did not mention total housing units to be developed and the investments to be made in the project. 
 Pirojsha Godrej, Executive Chairman, Godrej Properties said, "We are thrilled to launch Godrej RKS at the iconic RK Studios in Chembur. We will seek to ensure we celebrate the remarkable legacy of this site with a landmark development that delivers an outstanding lifestyle for its residents."
 Godrej RKS is strategically located on the main Sion-Trombay Road. 
 Founded by Raj Kapoor in 1948, the studio is witness to the making of several films produced by the Kapoor family over the decades.
 After selling this studio last year, <keyword id="1562" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="randhir-kapoor">Randhir Kapoor</keyword> of R K Studios had said: "This property in Chembur has been of tremendous significance to my family over the many decades that R K Studios has operated from there." "We...have chosen Godrej Properties to script a new chapter for this location and build upon its rich history," said Kapoor, the eldest son of late actor Raj Kapoor.

Enthused by strong housing demand, realty firm Godrej Properties Ltd has acquired 18 land parcels last fiscal for development of new projects with an estimated sales potential of around Rs 32,000 crore. Mumbai-based Godrej Properties, which is part of business conglomerate <keyword id="133008" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="godrej-group" source="Orion">Godrej Group</keyword>, had given a guidance that for future development it would add land parcels that have sales revenue potential of Rs 15,000 crore. However, the company's new business development, which means addition of new land parcels, jumped more than two-fold of annual guidance. Godrej Properties acquires land outrightly and also enters into joint development agreements (JDAs) with landowners to create a pipeline of future projects and expand its business. In a recent regulatory filing, the company presented its operational performance for 2022-23. Godrej Properties highlighted that it has added "18 new projects in FY23 with a total estimated saleable area of nearly 29 million square feet and total estimated booking value of around Rs 32,000 crore." In the fourth quarter of last fiscal, five new projects were added with an expected sales booking value of Rs 5,750 crore. Among big-ticket deals in FY23, the company acquired an 18-acre land parcel in Kandivali, Mumbai for Rs 750 crore to develop a luxury housing project with an estimated revenue potential of about Rs 7,000 crore. It also acquired legendary film actor, director and producer Raj Kapoor's bungalow at Chembur in Mumbai to develop a luxury housing project. In February last year, Godrej Properties Executive Chairman Pirojsha Godrej had said that the company would invest around Rs 7,500 crore over the next 12-18 months on the acquisition and development of new real estate projects. Sitting on a huge cash pile, Godrej Properties entered aggressively into the market to acquire land parcels. In the last fiscal, it purchased more land outrightly than signing JDAs with landowners. On operational front, Godrej Properties' sales booking rose 56 per cent last fiscal to Rs 12,232 crore -- an all-time high -- on strong demand for residential properties. Pirojsha Godrej attributed the strong growth in FY23 to its strong portfolio of projects across the country. For the first time, the company sold over Rs 2,000 crore of real estate in each of four focus markets of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and Pune. Out of the total sales bookings last fiscal, housing segment's contribution was 99 per cent. Pirojsha said the company look forward to building on this sales momentum in FY24. During 2022-23, sales volumes grew by 40 per cent to 15.21 million square feet from 10.84 million square feet in the previous year. Cousins Adi Godrej and Jamshyd Godrej are known to have differences in opinion on how to develop their massive land bank that extends over 3,400 acres in Mumbai. The Godrej Group was founded by Ardeshir Godrej along with his brother, Pirojsha Godrej in 1987. Pirojsha’s sons formed the second generation as Ardeshir died childless.
