Women advance to leadership, but men still dominate the corporate ladder: McKinsey

A survey by <keyword id="20120149" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naukri-com" source="keywords">Naukri.com</keyword> has revealed that work-life balance poses a significant concern, as 39 % of the women respondents cited it as a key reason for leaving their jobs. "These issues pose substantial challenges for women trying to re-enter the workforce, with 41 % identifying a lack of flexible work options and 35 % highlighting family responsibilities as significant barriers to continuing with their jobs," the report said. The report is based on a survey conducted by online recruitment company Naukri.com among job seekers registered on its platform. The report found that 73% of women interviewed said <keyword id="20028277" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equal-opportunities" source="keywords">equal opportunities</keyword> exist for both men and women in employment and leadership positions, and 79% of men agreed that both genders get equal chances at workplaces. Despite a majority of respondents viewing that workplaces offer equal opportunities to both genders, the report revealed that 24 % of women felt men have better growth prospects compared to only 8 % of men holding the same view. On the other hand, 13% of men interviewed said women have better opportunities at the workplace, however, only 3% of women shared this opinion. "Our report highlights an encouraging trend towards <keyword id="20250318" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gender-equality" source="keywords">gender equality</keyword> in the workplace, with 73 % of women recognising that equal opportunities do exist today. "It also reveals lingering challenges in areas of work-life balance and career advancement, underscoring the need for strategic interventions by industry to ensure continued progress," Naukri.com Chief Business Officer Pawan Goyal told PTI. Even the <keyword id="19898698" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gender-pay-gap" source="keywords">gender pay gap</keyword> remains an area of concern, with 31 % of women perceiving unequal compensation relative to 16 % of men. It also found that 53 % of respondents said that salary compensation is entirely equal for both genders in the same role.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Men far outnumber women as news influencers on social media, per a new Pew Research Center study.</li><li>That contrasts with other parts of the creator industry, where women dominate.</li></ul>News anchoring was once a male-dominated enterprise led by figures like Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow. That gender skew is showing up again in the latest platform for news: social media.Male influencers far outnumber female creators when it comes to delivering the news on social media, according to a new <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2024/11/18/americas-news-influencers/">study</a> from the Pew Research Center.Pew analyzed a sample set of 500 news influencers with at least 100,000 followers and found that 63% were male and 30% were female. The remaining 7% were either non-binary or had undetermined genders.That gender gap stands out for a few reasons:<ul><li>First, there's a much narrower gender divide (51% male and 46% female) among working US journalists, per a 2022 Pew <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/04/04/us-journalists-beats-vary-widely-by-gender-and-other-factors/">survey</a>.</li><li>Second, women tend to outnumber men in the influencer industry broadly. But in the wake of her election loss, some political commentators <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4QHOS4osEM">lamented</a> her decision not to appear on Rogan's podcast, which is consistently the top-ranked show on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.In Pew's analysis, there was a much smaller (and flipped) gender gap in the overall audience for news content on social media among young people. Twenty-three percent of US adult women under 30 said they regularly got news from news influencers, compared to 19% of men in that age group."The influencers who are providing news and people who are getting news don't necessarily look the same," Galen Stocking, a senior computational social scientist at Pew who coauthored the report, told BI.This suggests that a strategy of trying to reach women voters by focusing on podcasts anchored by women could miss a portion of the electorate.<h2 id="14166cf2-6038-4c35-86d0-7299411a9a16">Are news influencers widening the US political gender gap?</h2>Young people are increasingly divided along partisan lines. Men between the ages of 18 and 29 are becoming more conservative and women in that age group are becoming more liberal, per <a target="_blank" href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/649826/exploring-young-women-leftward-expansion.aspx">Gallup polling</a>. The extent to which media diets are contributing to that change is harder to drill down, however.Pew's sample set of news influencers skewed slightly conservative, with 27% identifying as right-leaning and 21% as left-leaning. Still, only around half of the news influencers explicitly shared their political orientation.Whatever their impact on partisanship, creators have clearly taken on a bigger role in shaping the information landscape as traditional newsrooms have lost some trust. Fifty-nine percent of US adults surveyed by Pew in September said they had a lot or some trust in information from national news organizations, down from 76% in 2016. Trust in information from social media remained steady over the same period, growing from 34% to 37%.<h2 id="210dd0f2-1334-4ec8-80f2-1c59ca935fa9">YouTube had the biggest gender gap, while TikTok's was minimal</h2>The gender divide among news influencers was fairly consistent across all platforms in Pew's study. The one exception was TikTok, where 50% of news creators were male and 45% were female.TikTok has become an <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gen-z-gets-news-from-tiktok-influencers-media-industry-2023-12">increasingly important news source</a> among young adults, who turn to the app for news commentary and on-the-ground videos tied to current events.YouTube saw the biggest gender divide among news influencers, a gap that other researchers said showed up in the YouTube audience, too. A Spring poll of 18- to 29-year-old Americans by the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics found that 31% of young men turn to YouTube to learn about current events, compared to 20% of women.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Less than one-third of the semiconductor workforce is female, with few in leadership roles.</li><li>Female employees spoke about their experiences as companies make efforts to close the gender gap.</li></ul>When a young engineering student attended her first recruitment fairs at the Colorado School of Mines, she initially felt discouraged as she tried to break into the semiconductor industry as a chemical engineer."It definitely feels like, oh, they're only picking 10 women and 90 men, and therefore the 10 women they pick are going to be just that much more competitive," said the student who asked not to be identified so she could speak freely, told Business Insider.She went to work as a process engineer at an Intel chip fab in Arizona. Only three out of the 10 people on her team were women, she said. She often felt some of the best resources for the chip fab, like top construction workers, were dedicated to teams with more men, while women were given less leeway to make mistakes."We're very isolated, very often in a resource sense," she said.This dynamic is not specific to one company; <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/women-utah-silicon-slopes-difficulties-tech-jobs-2023-10">gender disparity</a> is widespread throughout the tech industry. According to a 2023 Accenture analysis, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.accenture.com/content/dam/accenture/final/accenture-com/document-2/Accenture-GSA-Women-In-The-Semiconductor-industry-2023-Survey-Report.pdf#zoom=40">the median representation of women</a> in the semiconductor industry is between 20% and 29%, up from between <a target="_blank" href="https://www.gsaglobal.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/GSA-ACN-2022-Women-in-Semiconductor-BRIEF-Final.pdf">20% and 25% in 2022</a>. Over half of companies reported less than 10% representation of women in technical director roles and less than 5% in technical executive leadership roles.As the US is projected to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.semiconductors.org/america-projected-to-triple-semiconductor-manufacturing-capacity-by-2032-the-largest-rate-of-growth-in-the-world/">triple</a> its domestic chip manufacturing and generative AI could become a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/company/press/generative-ai-to-become-a-1-3-trillion-market-by-2032-research-finds/">$1.3 trillion</a> market by 2032, building an inclusive workforce will be critical to developing the technology and ensuring that the economic boom benefits as many people as it can.Part of that is a challenge in the education pipeline. Although they make up the majority of undergraduate and advanced degrees, women make up <a target="_blank" href="https://swe.org/research/2024/degree-attainment/">less than 23%</a> of engineering and computer science graduates. This percentage <a target="_blank" href="https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2021/04/01/stem-jobs-see-uneven-progress-in-increasing-gender-racial-and-ethnic-diversity/">drops even more</a> among minorities, as <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://swe.org/research/2024/degree-attainment/">Black and Latina women</a> comprised less than 4% of engineering graduates and 5% of computer science graduates over the past 10 years.Recruiters for the chips industry said that closing the gap within hiring can sometimes be a sensitive topic as gender is a protected class in antidiscrimination laws. While the chip industry makes efforts to expand the recruiting pool in general so that hiring can be more inclusive, the changes can feel incremental.According to the most recently published corporate social responsibility reports, about 20% of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://images.nvidia.com/aem-dam/Solutions/documents/FY2024-NVIDIA-Corporate-Sustainability-Report.pdf">Nvidia's total workforce</a> are women. Women make up about 15% of technical roles, 18% of managers, and 40% of executive officers. <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.amd.com/en/corporate/corporate-responsibility/esg-data-tables.html">AMD's workforce</a> is 24% women. About 19% of engineers, 14% of senior management, and 17% of the executive team are women. Women make up 28% of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://csrreportbuilder.intel.com/pdfbuilder/pdfs/CSR-2023-24-Full-Report.pdf">Intel's workforce</a>, and they hold 25% of technical roles and 19% of senior leadership. <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.micron.com/content/dam/micron/global/public/documents/about/diversity-and-inclusion/2023-diversity-and-inclusion-report.pdf">At Micron</a>, 31% of its total global workforce is made up of women, and they hold 25% of technical roles, 17% of senior leadership roles, and 21% of leader roles."Intel has a long track record of fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, and it is core to our values," an Intel spokesperson said in a statement.Intel <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://csrreportbuilder.intel.com/pdfbuilder/pdfs/CSR-2023-24-Full-Report.pdf">set goals</a> to increase its female senior leadership representation to 25% and technical roles to 40% by 2030. The Intel spokesperson also pointed to its <a target="_blank" href="https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/newsroom/news/intels-first-us-apprenticeship-for-manufacturing-technicians.html#gs.e7dyxb">first registered apprenticeship program</a> for manufacturing facility technicians for its Arizona fabs, of which all of the selected participants are women."We treat all employees with fairness and respect and don't tolerate behavior that is contrary to those values," the spokesperson added.Both <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amd.com/content/dam/amd/en/documents/corporate/cr/corporate-responsibility-report.pdf#page=48">AMD</a> and <a target="_blank" href="https://affiliate.insider.com?h=a4ac2b73c1c514109e91f0be9bf14a0d79fc38bcd49fb86fb71c71c2eed432ce&amp;postID=66cd2c227d61a86c1876c776&amp;postSlug=chip-companies-nvidia-intel-gender-gap-ai-boom-2024-8&amp;site=bi&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nvidia.com%2Fen-us%2Fon-demand%2Fsession%2Fgtcspring23-se52644%2F">Nvidia</a> have employee resource groups focused on women in tech. An AMD spokesperson said the number of female engineers and participants in their pipeline mentoring programs has increased in the last five years and that the company has collaborated with the Global Semiconductor Alliance to recruit female engineers at the University of Texas at Austin and MIT. Pipeline program participants also cited in a 2023 survey, an improvement in their perception of growth and development at the company. Micron did not respond to requests for comment at the time of publication.<h2 id="f746dd30-b0bf-4eec-9c37-7c263414fbd7">Few women in leadership</h2>One former Intel process engineer, who still works in the chips industry, said she decided to leave the company because she felt that it could be a "hostile environment" at times, with male engineers challenging her when they were not rewarded with projects. The engineer, whose identity is known to Business Insider, asked to remain anonymous because she's not authorized to speak to the press."There were also other high-performing men on my team who were getting the same projects and same opportunities as me, but there were never any complaints made about them," she said.Although Intel made more efforts to hire women, she said she did not see as much effort in promotion. Out of hundreds of people in her department, only two managers were female, she said.A lack of women in leadership can create the perception that female employees have no room to grow, resulting in a higher turnover rate."Attracting talent without a plan to retain the talent just really creates the same cyclical problem," said Jared Tatham, a managing director at Insight Global who oversees its semiconductor recruitment portfolio.<h2 id="2f606934-b1c0-4157-9b12-1401d857878e">Reducing bias in hiring</h2>Clients have requested more gender diversity in the pipeline, said Luke Tomaszko, a managing principal consultant at Acceler8 Talent who works with early-stage hardware companies that focus on AI chip design. He said startups must be conscious of this as they build out the culture and makeup of their teams."The industry can be so male-dominated that if you have a team of 100 men, then it's not really a welcoming environment for a woman to come in," Tomaszko said.Insight Global's Tatham works with clients that range from material suppliers for equipment at foundries to companies that do chip design, testing, and packaging. He said he makes it a goal to reach out with calls more personally with potential candidates rather than just rely upon the job descriptions since <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://hbr.org/2022/07/apply-to-a-job-even-if-you-dont-meet-all-criteria">men are more likely</a> to apply for jobs even if they don't meet all the criteria.Tomaszko said that before posting job descriptions, his agency runs the listings through tools such as a <a target="_blank" href="https://adminvc.ucla.edu/equity/hiring-guide/gender-decoder">gender decoder</a> to review words that may have a gender-biased leaning.<h2 id="a8c5aaf0-fcbe-47d6-b532-9085cb10fdb8">Demanding schedules and childcare</h2>The CHIPS and Science Act spurred some efforts to reduce childcare costs. Micron received <a target="_blank" href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/04/25/fact-sheet-president-biden-announces-up-to-6-1-billion-preliminary-agreement-with-micron-under-the-chips-and-science-act/">$6.1 billion</a> in funding this year, including for the construction of new childcare facilities in Idaho and New York. However, childcare is only one facet of improving the pipeline.The schedule of a chip fab may also be a challenge. The former Intel process engineer said that the on-call schedule, which meant she would have to cover in case anything went wrong at the factory, was "definitely" something that made her think about how it would affect longer-term family planning."When you're woken up multiple times during the night, and then you have to do your whole day the following day, I imagine that'd be particularly challenging for birthing mothers. You'd have to stay physically within two hours of the factory that entire week, just in case of any emergency," she said.Closing the gender gap in the chip industry will require more efforts from companies and top leadership to make these career paths more inclusive and stable. Some women say there have been some improvements in inclusivity and building community.The former process engineer said that she now takes part in an all-women cohort at her company that has monthly meetings. In these meetings, they discuss podcasts and readings about leadership, and company veterans and newcomers alike can share different ideas."It's not just like one person leading it. Chip companies like Nvidia and Intel are facing a major gender gap amid the AI boom

The report stated that the <keyword id="20861069" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-shift" source="keywords">global shift</keyword> towards a China+1 strategy and the impact of the <keyword id="20016971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Russia-Ukraine-war" source="keywords">Russia-Ukraine war</keyword> offer India additional opportunities to fill supply chain gaps, potentially boosting its share in the <keyword id="23046732" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-defence-industry" source="keywords">global defence industry</keyword>. The report noted that the country's long-term goal is to become a global defence manufacturing hub is driven by Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), private enterprises, start-ups, and MSMEs. "Indian defence exports have grown multi-fold from INR 15 bn in 2017 to INR 210 bn in 2024 at a CAGR of 46%. The China + 1 strategy and the Russia-Ukraine war provides an additional opportunity for India to fill the gap created in the supply chain and hence increase its contribution to the global defence industry," the report read. The report added that to achieve this target a well-developed domestic ecosystem is crucial as lower import content in products accelerates approvals by reducing international conflicts. The report added that the Ministry of Defence has taken key initiatives to attract Indian private players and global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) include establishing aerospace parks and defence corridors, fast-tracking project approvals, and enhancing development and testing facilities. Highlighting the potential in India's Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) segment the report explained that it holds a significant potential for global aerospace companies due to its technical expertise and cost-competitive solutions. "India provides a huge opportunity in the <keyword id="23046733" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MRO-segment" source="keywords">MRO segment</keyword> for global aerospace leaders given the expertise the country provides as well as the cost efficiency solutions compared to its global competitors" the report added. India aims to increase domestic defence turnover to Rs 3 lac crore by 2029, Rs 500 billion targeted for exports. This growth will help reduce the Government of India's import bill as India remains the world's largest importer of defence equipment. Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative of the government, 75 per cent of the defence capital outlay is now reserved for domestic players, up from 49 per cent in FY21. Given the geopolitical challenges and modernisation needs of its Armed Forces, the report added that India plans to invest Rs 8.3 lac crore in domestic procurement, offering substantial business opportunities for local companies. "India intends to place orders worth INR 8.3 trn through domestic procurement and thus it presents a massive business opportunity for local players" it added. As per the Ministry of Defence, India's defence manufacturing sector has witnessed an increase of 16.8 per cent in the fiscal year 2023-24. This significant increase marks the highest-ever growth in the country's defence production value. The total value of defence production reached Rs 1,26,887 crore this year, up from the previous year's figures.

India's defence exports surge to Rs 210 billion after global shift towards China+1, Russia-Ukraine war: Report

India remains highly dependent on imports for minerals critical to accelerating its <keyword id="19951336" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="energy-transition" source="keywords">energy transition</keyword>, with a full reliance on shipping in lithium, cobalt and nickel, according to a report released Monday. The report, published by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), said that India's demand for <keyword id="19978839" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="critical-minerals" source="keywords">critical minerals</keyword> is expected to more than double by 2030, while domestic mining operations may take over a decade to start producing. It stresses that India needs a carefully crafted import strategy to mitigate potential trade risks while balancing international relationships to secure these essential minerals. IEEFA's report examines five critical minerals (and their compounds) - cobalt, copper, graphite, lithium and nickel - from the perspectives of import dependency, trade dynamics, domestic availability, and global price fluctuations. The findings show that India remains largely import-dependent for these minerals and their compounds, with 100 per cent import reliance for minerals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel. "India should strive to de-risk its critical minerals sourcing by identifying new international resources and expediting <keyword id="20681115" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="domestic-production" source="keywords">domestic production</keyword>. A concerted effort to partner with and foster bilateral relations with <keyword id="23713985" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mineral-rich-nations" source="keywords">mineral-rich nations</keyword> should be a priority for India," said the report's co-author Charith Konda, Energy Specialist, IEEFA. "The country can also explore investment opportunities in resource-rich, friendly nations, such as Australia and Chile, as well as African countries like Ghana and South Africa," he added. The report said India depends heavily on China for synthetic graphite and natural graphite and it should explore cooperation initiatives with countries like Mozambique, Madagascar, Brazil and Tanzania which are some of the highest graphite producing countries. "As part of the Global South cooperation initiatives, these countries could be favourable partners for India for <keyword id="23713984" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="graphite-trading" source="keywords">graphite trading</keyword>," said the report's co-author Kaira Rakheja, Energy Analyst, IEEFA. India is also highly import-dependent for copper cathodes and nickel sulphates from just two countries - Japan and Belgium. The report suggests India could look at the US, the fifth largest producer of copper in the world, to diversify its suppliers and enhance <keyword id="23714709" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="supply-security" source="keywords">supply security</keyword>. For minerals like lithium oxide and nickel oxide, the dependency is low on one country, but overall imports largely come from Russia and China, both countries with potential trade risks. "Developing domestic lithium refining capacity will help India integrate with the global lithium supply chain," said Rakheja. The report also notes the significant efforts that the Indian government is making to improve domestic production of critical minerals with the auctions by the Ministry of Mines and the planned Critical Minerals Mission. "The critical minerals mining block auctions can serve as an opportunity for India to focus on building refining and processing capabilities to emerge as a global value-adding hub," said Rakheja. "Government support in the form of viability gap funding and technology development will help promote such auctions and ultimately the domestic production of critical minerals. "A stable supply of critical minerals is imperative for India to achieve its <keyword id="19895602" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="renewable-energy" source="keywords">renewable energy</keyword> goals," Konda said. India has committed to achieving 500 gigawatts (GW) of non-fossil fuel-based electricity installed capacity by 2030. The company's <keyword id="22862818" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="brand-strength" source="keywords">brand strength</keyword> was evaluated with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 91.0 out of 100, earning it the prestigious AAA+ rating. Amul's performance in familiarity, consideration, and recommendation metrics solidified its position as a global leader in the food and dairy sectors. While Amul shines in brand strength, the report identifies Nestle and Lay's as leaders in brand value. Nestle retained its title as the world's most valuable food brand, despite a 7 per cent decline in brand value to USD 20.8 billion. The company's ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences and maintain a diverse product portfolio has been key to its enduring success. Lay's, on the other hand, saw a 9 per cent increase in brand value, rising to USD 12 billion and securing the second spot globally. Lay's innovative product offerings, including its Flavour Swap and MAX lineups, have driven its brand value growth. The Brand Finance report also notes a 4 per cent decline in the overall brand value of the food and beverage sector, now totalling around USD 268 billion. This decline is attributed to consumers increasingly favoring smaller, private-label brands offering unique, personalized products over traditional big names. Convenience foods, however, are bucking the trend, with rising brand value due to growing demand from busy consumers. Brands like Healthy Choice and DiGiorno have seen a 17 per cent increase in brand value, driven by innovative product releases and strategic marketing. Amul's ascension as the world's strongest food and dairy brand is a testament to its consistent innovation, effective marketing strategies, and strong consumer trust. The cooperative's commitment to quality and its extensive product range has made it a household name not just in India but across the globe. With an 85 per cent share in the Indian butter market and a 66 per cent market share in cheese, Amul's brand equity continues to grow stronger each year. The dairy industry, however, faces its own set of challenges. The report notes a 6 per cent dip in the total brand value of the top 10 dairy brands, now at USD 43.8 billion. Despite this, Amul has retained its title as the strongest dairy brand for the fourth consecutive year, thanks to its unique cooperative structure and impactful branding efforts. Meanwhile, Valio, a Finnish dairy brand, has emerged as the fastest-growing dairy brand, with a 31 per cent increase in brand value, driven by its acquisition of Planti, a producer of plant-based dairy alternatives. Sustainability continues to be a critical factor for brands. Nestle leads the food sector with the highest Sustainability Perceptions Value at USD 1.4 billion, while Coca-Cola tops the non-alcoholic drinks sector with a value of USD 5.2 billion. Even as Indian women face low representation in leadership roles in the workforce (18 per cent), they are now seeking more entrepreneurship opportunities as compared to men, according to new <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword> data released on Wednesday. The data, published in the <keyword id="69007" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-economic-forum" source="Orion">World Economic Forum</keyword>'s 2022 <keyword id="2573327" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="global-gender-gap-report" source="Orion">Global Gender Gap Report</keyword>, showed that the share of female founders grew by 2.68 times compared to 1.79 times among men between 2016 to 2021. The growth rate of female entrepreneurship showed to be the highest during the pandemic -- in 2020 and 2021. Besides being underrepresented in leadership roles, the data also revealed that women are also not being promoted internally to leadership in companies at the same rate as men. Men are 42 per cent more likely to be promoted into leadership positions than women. This could explain why women in leadership roles also increasingly lag behind their male counterparts in the senior stages of their careers, with the proportion of women in the workforce decreasing along the corporate ladder. In <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, the representation of female leaders has dropped from 29 per cent at the senior level to a staggering 18 per cent at the managerial level. "Our new data is indicative of one thing: working women in India are being held back by more barriers in the workplace when compared to men. But despite the adversity, many women remain undeterred and continue to chart their own path by pivoting to entrepreneurship and building careers that allow them to work on their own terms with greater flexibility," said <keyword id="10697755" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ruchee-anand" source="Orion">Ruchee Anand</keyword>, Senior Director, <keyword id="14445297" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india-talent-learning-solutions" source="Orion">India Talent &amp; Learning Solutions</keyword> at LinkedIn, in a statement. "We saw this especially in the years of the pandemic (2020 and 2021), when women sheltered from a shrinking job market by starting their own businesses that also created opportunities for other women," Anand added. However, the new data also reveals that there is progress being made. More women are being hired into leadership roles from eight years ago, shooting up to 24 per cent this year -- 1.36x since 2015. However, more needs to be done. "As employers navigate this challenge of making work 'work' for women, they must remember that factors like internal mobility, fair hiring practices with a focus on skills, and flexibility are going to prove key in not just levelling the playing field for women, but also improving efficiency through balanced representation, diversity of perspectives and inclusive leadership at the workplace," Anand said.
