Senior managers, working at startups like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Flipkart%2C+Snapdeal+and+Amazon">Flipkart, Snapdeal</a> and Ola, are no more interested in these top consumer Internet companies in India. They are heading for the exit door, with many citing a mixture of low job satisfaction and poor work-life balance. 
 
This change is seen at a time when <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+startups">Indian startups</a>, boosted by soaring valuations, are on an aggressive spree to hire new talents. So are these mangers hungry to start their own companies? Lets’ read and know! 
 <keyword id="3019928" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Swaminathan-Seetharaman">Swaminathan Seetharaman</keyword>, who earlier worked as the vice-president for engineering at taxi app firm <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ola+">Ola</a> and quit after about a year at the company, said: "There are multiple levels of decision-making as an organisation grows and individual contributions to make impact get diluted." 
 The 41-year-old Seetharaman, who led the development of consumer mobile interfaces while at Ola, teamed up with former colleagues <keyword id="2047443" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ganesh-Subramanian">Ganesh Subramanian</keyword> and <keyword id="576027" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Nitin-Agarwal">Nitin Agarwal</keyword> to launch an on-demand services marketplace Pianta. 
 
Termed unicorns — or companies valued upwards of a billion dollars — Flipkart, Snapdeal and Ola have all witnessed exits of senior managers in recent months. 
 The latest exit was of <keyword id="843670" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ravi-Vora">Ravi Vora</keyword>, the head of strategic initiatives at Flipkart, who quit this week. Others to have quit the country's largest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=online+retailer+">online retailer</a> include engineering head <keyword id="6518849" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sameer-Nigam">Sameer Nigam</keyword>, who left in July. 
 Chief Technology Officer <keyword id="1937803" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amod-Malviya">Amod Malviya</keyword> transited to an advisory role in July. In February, Delhi-based Snapdeal saw its then CTO <keyword id="2049459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amitabh-Misra">Amitabh Misra</keyword> leave to start his own firm. 
 
Restaurant listing guide <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Zomato+">Zomato</a> has seen the exits of marketing heads <keyword id="499896" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Alok-Jain">Alok Jain</keyword>, and subsequently <keyword id="584823" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rameet-Arora">Rameet Arora</keyword>, who quit within 10 months. Jain has started an ondemand food venture Yumist. 
 The Gurgaon-based company's chief product officer <keyword id="3019927" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Namita-Arora">Namita Arora</keyword> left within a year of joining the firm.

Seniors being relegated: Experts tasked with finding fresh talent for these high-growth startups say several exits stem from seniors being relegated when hierarchies alter. "Shrinking interactions with the founders coupled with decreased influence on impactful decisions are two most frequently cited reasons for individuals to move out of startups," Harish Kumar, founder of headhunting firm Wenger &amp; Watson, told ET. 
 
Volatile work environment, long working hours, and high levels of stress are also wearing out several senior executives at startups. "The culture of having beds for technology teams in offices can backfire and hurt emotional health," said a senior technology executive who quit a Delhi-based startup. 
 
Bid to lock in talent: Dissatisfaction with compensation is also leading to exits in several cases. Startups typically offer employee stock options aimed at locking in talent from a year to four years. Often, employees can cash in about a quarter of their holding after a year. "After that, shares can be redeemed on a pro rata basis every month or quarter, depending on the contract," said Seetharaman. 
 
However, this is only at an ideal startup. At several others, founders allow only a tenth of promised stock to be sold at the end of a year, with vesting periods rising incrementally to 40% at the end of four years. "There can be additional harsh lock-ins, which make the packages unfair," said the Delhi-based founder of an executive search firm who works with companies such as Flipkart, Zomato and Snapdeal. 
 
Senior employees are realising that they too have a chance of making big returns from India's unprecedented startup boom where the top Internet companies have between themselves soaked up some $6 bn of funding so far.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=%E2%80%8BMyntra">Myntra</a> Chief Operating Officer Ganesh Subramanian has launched a startup - Stylumia Intelligence Technology. It’s a data-driven firm that would analyse <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=fashion+trends">fashion trends</a>. 
 
"As a fashion professional, I have struggled with some unresolved questions: how much to buy? what to observe/spot in terms of trends/inspirations? What products/medium to choose for my brand/business?" Subramanian said. "The answers to which we are chasing at Stylumia." 
 
Subramanian is the CEO of the company. He jointly formed the company with Ram Prakash H. Subramanian who quit Myntra in September this year. Stylumia looks to help companies prepare the next season's collection based on evaluation of consumer behaviour. 
 
"Fashion brands currently predict designs for the next season collection on their gut feeling or follow other brands, as there is no comprehensive data available on consumer shopping behaviour and future trends," Subramanian said. The company is set to launch its first version in India by early 2016. 
 
According to Subramanian, less than half of clothes manufactured are sold at a discount. This is due to disconnect between demand and the forecast demand. "What we are trying to work on is how to help a fashion professional take an informed decision using intelligence. If companies determine the trend early, they will be able to increase revenue and profits," he said.

Citigroup just announced 137 new managing directors in its trading and dealmaking unit - we got a hold of the internal memo with all the names

Myntra is planning to open offline stores across the country in 2015 to promote its private labels, even as discussions on the fashion portal's merger with <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> are on. 
 
Myntra is expected to continue as a separate fashion brand even after it merges with Flipkart. This is why it has stepped up efforts to promote its flagship private label casual wear — Roadster. 
 
"We are looking to go offline for pure brand-building, not to increase sales," chief operating officer Ganesh Subramanian said. "We will start by opening one Roadster shop each in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and later venture into other towns and cities." Myntra had roped in Bollywood star Ranveer Singh to endorse Roadster. It is also likely to launch two or three more celebrity brand labels this year. 
 
Myntra, however, did not comment on investment in these offline stores. "It is too early to make an estimate," said Subramanian. Apart from Myntra, online retailer <keyword id="2229091" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="DonebyNone">DoneByNone</keyword> is also looking to earn revenue of Rs 500 crore in the next five years with nearly half of its sales coming from offline stores. "In the next six months, we plan to open our first few high street stores in Delhi. We will then expand to Mumbai and Bangalore," said Amarinder Dhaliwal, CEO of DoneByNone. "Offline stores have a greater customer reach. They add to the strength of the brand, awareness of the brand and also help it scale up." 
 Many e-commerce brands, including baby care retailer <keyword id="1615917" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="FirstCry">Firstcry</keyword>, nutrition and fitness products retailer <keyword id="922093" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Healthkart">Healthkart</keyword> and eyewear retailer <keyword id="1518229" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lenskart">Lenskart</keyword> are already boosting their offline presence to expand their reach. 
 
"We will penetrate a few more categories like kids' private brands and formal wear brands in the second half of the year," said Subramanian. It expects to give profit by year end with an estimated turnover of Rs 800 crore.

Individual divisions began announcing newly promoted MDs last Friday, including <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/citigroup-announces-137-new-managing-directors-in-trading-dealmaking-2019-12">137 in the firm's Institutional Clients Group</a>, which houses its dealmaking and sales and trading teams, and 25 in its Global Consumer bank. Another 58 promotions came in other areas of the firm, such as risk management, legal, and HR.Women represented 28% of the promotions, up from 25% last year. And soon, a robot would help you find the best match for yourself. No, we ain’t kidding. The online fashion retailer <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Myntra">Myntra </a>has already developed such a robot character. 
 Named <keyword id="3067270" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Artie">Artie</keyword>, the robot powered by artificial intelligence will represent the recently-launched in-house <keyword id="3067269" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Moda-Rapido">Moda Rapido</keyword> brand of <keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword>. 
 As per the company officials, the brand is capable of offering new styles and designs every week, through out the year. The software will scan all the <keyword id="20790" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fashion-trends">fashion trends</keyword> that people are looking for over the internet and with the help of this data, the company will develop those styles. 
 <keyword id="2564167" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gautam-Kotamraju">Gautam Kotamraju</keyword>, senior vice president for new initiatives at Myntra says, "We will bring new products every week. We will react to everything that is selling well, go back and make it, and bring it for our customers in 20 days. We have a nimble supply chain which allows us to do so." 
 According to an Economic Times report, it took around eight months for a 25-member team to develop this brand in the company headquarters in Bengaluru. The online marketplace owned by <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> used a computer vision for the machine to learn fashion and its attributes and had a few design specialists who helped the machine to learn. 
 
"Our artificial intelligence tells us what material we have on one side and what people are liking on the other side and therefore it puts across a basic skeletal framework together for the in-house designers, who would then tweak the designs according to the demand," Kotamraju added. 
 
Industry biggies like Snapdeal and Flipkart are aggressively working on the technological front to engage with more and more consumers. Market leader Flipkart recently introduced Ping, a messaging platform where users can have a real time discussion with friends and fashion experts. 
 
Flipkart also introduced the feature called image search, where users can upload an image of the product they are looking for and as a result, they’ll get similar products available online. 
 
Rival Snapdeal has introduced findmystyle.in, a tool that filters the wide catalogue of apparels and footwear to show the most relevant products without the traditional way of using filters like keywords, brands, price, etc. 
 
Ganesh Subramanian, head of new initiatives at Myntra while naming the upcoming technology the ‘Insta Trend’ said, "Whatever products you see under the Moda Rapido brand are based purely on (artificial) intelligence and there are no designers involved in the process.”

About two dozen top executives working with the fashion portal <keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword> will become millionaires as the country's largest online retailer <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> completes a long-awaited acquisition of the company. 
 
Among these executives are chief operating officer Ganesh Subramanian, chief technology and product officer Shamik Sharma, human resources head Pooja Gupta and chief marketing officer Vikas Ahuja. Their shares are approximately worth between $1 million and $4 million or up to Rs 25 crore. 
 
But it is not just the top executives who will benefit. Almost all the employees in central functions such as technology and marketing, apart from the call centre and delivery staff, have received stock options. 
 This is contrary to what has been the norm in the country’s start-up sector, where founders make the most out of lucrative deals. "Employees are the least represented at the deal table," said Alok Goel, former chief operating officer of online ticketing firm <keyword id="6359128" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Redbus">redBus</keyword>, which was acquired by South Africa's <keyword id="6356837" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Naspers">Naspers</keyword> in 2013. 
 
Goel, who is now the chief executive of Freecharge, an online recharge site, said that the start-ups set aside a stock pool, but do not distribute it. "At Freecharge, we have set aside a healthy stock pool and have already distributed a large chunk of it," he added. 
 
"Fewer employees have stock in the company," said a recruitment consultant who has worked with Myntra. Naukri and MakeMyTrip are regarded as start-ups that shared their wealth with employees in the form of stock options. 
 
The best-known Indian company for sharing its wealth with the employees is Infosys. Since 1994, the company has had three ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) plans that covered 32,000 employees. 
 
"Myntra's is a good model for other start-ups and entrepreneurs," said Anshuman Das, managing partner at Longhouse Consulting, a recruitment firm that works with start-ups.
