WhatsApp users can now use the same account on two phones

The Razer Phone might get a hardware update to make 'Project Linda' a reality later this year

<p>The Korean smartphone maker has been rumored to release a metal-built smartphone called the Galaxy F for months, and now a new report claims to show what the device might look like. </p>
<p>The new photo <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/check_this_live_picture_of_the_samsung_galaxy_f-news-8940.php">published by GSM Arena</a> doesn't reveal too much, but it does clearly show a metal frame outlining the edges of the phone.</p>
<p>It sort of looks like the metal rim on the iPhone.</p>
<p>Don't expect a completely aluminum-crafted phone like the HTC One, however.</p>
<p>GSM Arena reports that although the Galaxy F's frame will be metal, it will still come with a plastic removeable back like Samsung's previous smartphones.</p>
<p>This contradicts previous rumors and leaks that implied the Galaxy F could come with a premium spun-metal back instead of plastic. </p>
<p>The phone is expected to be very similar to the Galaxy S5 with the exception of its metal edges. We expect to learn more when Samsung makes an official announcement.</p>
<p>The company usually unveils a handful of new phones and devices at the IFA conference in Berlin, so it's possible we'll get a glimpse of the Galaxy F in September. </p>

This May Be Our Best Look Yet At Samsung's Next Galaxy Smartphone

Blog <a href="http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g4-to-use-snapdragon-808-597888/">Android Authority</a> spotted screenshots from GFXBench that showed the phone's test results. </p><p><span><span>The GFXBench app also listed all of the specifications for LG's phone, and it looks like it will be in </span>direct competition with Samsung's new Galaxy S6. </span></p><p>Specifically, the LG will come with a 5.5-inch screen with the same 2560 x 1440 resolution as the older G3, a 15-megapixel main camera, a 7-megapixel front camera, a Snapdragon 808 processor, and 3GB of memory. <span>The competitor from Samsung has a smaller screen with the same resolution, a 16-megapixel main camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera.</span></p><p>We also have a decent idea of what LG's new phone will look like, and it doesn't seem to be much different than the G3. Phone accessory maker Verus posted an image of what claims to be the LG G4 in one of its cases (pictured above), which looks similar to a separate leak that showed a press render of the phone <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/more_alleged_lg_g4_press_renders_surface_online-news-11496.php">in the beginning of March</a>. <p>Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi just launched its new flagship smartphone in July, but it may have already started thinking about what's next.</p>
<p>A photo that surfaced on <a href="http://weibo.com/2434549684/Bwe3adtj1?ref=home&amp;rid=14_0_2666907689899213066&amp;type=comment%20y%20http://news.mydrivers.com/1/331/331186.htm#_rnd1415976579604">Chinese social network Weibo </a>reportedly shows what the company's Mi5 phone will look like.</p>

There are virtually no bezels along the side of the display, which gives the phone a slim and premium look. It appears to be significantly bigger than the Mi4, which <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-mi4-review-roundup-and-first-impressions-2014-8">received positive reviews from critics </a>upon launch.</p>
<p>Xiaomi is one of the buzziest smartphone makers out there today, even though it only sells phones in China and a few other markets. It recently just <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-passes-samsung-in-china-2014-8">passed Samsung to become the No. 1 smartphone maker in China</a> during the second quarter of this year, as reserach firm Canalys reported.</p>
<p>It's also the third largest smartphone maker in the entire world in terms of global shipments, according to <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-30/how-tight-is-smartphone-market-xiaomi-joins-samsung-apple-in-top-3-for-only-a-few-hours.html">Bloomberg</a>. That means Xiaomi falls right behind Samsung and Apple, and the company is also believed to be <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-reportedly-raising-money-at-40-billion-valuation-2014-11">raising money at a $40 billion valuation</a>.</p>

The tech blog is basing its story on <a href="http://www.36kr.com/p/220494.html">a report by Chinese-language tech site 36Krypton</a>.</p><p>The news comes just a week after Apple announced the details of its own smartwatch, the Apple Watch. Xiaomi has previously been criticised for allegedly copying many of of the Cupertino company's designs - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/jony-ive-calls-design-copies-theft-2014-10">Apple design chief Jony Ive has even described Xiaomi's products as</a> "theft." However, its recent products have eschewed Apple's aesthetic <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-mi-note-sells-out-in-3-minutes-2015-1">in favour of a new, clean design</a>, and have been generally well-reviewed.</p><p>Founded in 2010, the Chinese startup also models itself heavily on Apple. Lei Jun, the founder and CEO, is a charismatic, Steve Jobs-esque figure. <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/xiaomis-secret-weapon-its-fans-2015-1">And the company has cultivated a extraordinarily loyal fanbase</a> - just like Apple.</p><p>These fans are key to Xiaomi's meteoric rise. A year and a half ago, it was valued at less than $10 billion; now, it's the most valuable startup in the world - and it's done this despite <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-vp-hugo-barra-at-mobile-world-congress-2015-2015-3">spending almost nothing on advertising</a>.</p><p>On sale in April, the Apple Watch starts at $349 for the most basic "Sport" model, with the luxurious gold Apple Watch Edition retailing between $10,000 and $17,000. There's no indication yet of how much Xiaomi's own smartwatch will cost - but they're likely going to be very affordable. One key differentiator between Xiaomi and Apple is just how cheaply Xiaomi's products sell for: The average price of an Android smartphone is cheaper than ever - <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-price-disparity-increase-2015-2">but Xiaomi's devices retail for even <em>less</em> than the average Android device</a>, $220 to $254.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/54b78f5edd0895732f8b4643-1200-600/screen shot 2015-01-15 at 09.19.11.png" border="0" alt="Xiaomi Mi Note"><p class="source"><span>Xiaomi</span></p><p class="caption">The Xiaomi Mi Note, the company's flagship phone.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Xiaomi hasn't launched in the West yet, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-us-europe-market-arrival-2015-1">and says it doesn't intend to for</a> "a few years." But its new smartwatch is still worrying news for Apple. Spearheaded by Angela Ahrendts, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/apple-retail-boss-angela-ahrendts-has-a-big-plan-for-apple-stores-in-china-2015-1">Apple is currently in the midst of an aggressive expansion in China</a>. As the appetite for devices grows in the country - and other emerging markets like India - it's going to become an ever-more important opportunity for growth.</p><p>But Xiaomi is already extremely well-established in China: As of February 2015, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/xiaomi-samsung-china-market-share-idc-2015-2">it is now the country's biggest smartphone seller</a>, overtaking Samsung for the first time. Its loyal fanbase prove that Apple isn't the only tech company out there capable of cultivating devoted supporters - and at a much lower price point, it may prove a more compelling purchase than the Apple Watch for many Chinese consumers.</p><p>And one more thing: Xiaomi's smartwatch is also rumoured to come with "pulse wave velocity identification." Apple's biggest rival in China is working on an answer to the Apple Watch

<p>HTC isn't expected to unveil its flagship successor to the One until March 25, but one thing's for sure: Its camera is likely to be the main attraction.</p>
<p>While previously leaked images have shown the purported device with a  dual-lens setup, a new ad details its capabilities.</p>
<p>A leaked brochure from Australian carrier Telstra, (obtained by <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/exclusive_heres_why_the_htc_m8_has_two_cameras-news-8002.php">GSM Arena</a>) says the new One's Duo Camera will be capable of capturing photos with 3D effects.</p>
<p>According to the pamphlet, HTC is also touting the phone's ability to capture clear photos in low light conditions. The ad's Duo Camera section reads as follows: </p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"Create vivid images even in low light and professionally edit memories after you've taken the shot. Choose where to focus, highlight what you love, soften backgrounds and add 3D effects." </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">It's unclear exactly how HTC plans to implement 3D photography in its next major smartphone, but the company is bragging that its Duo Camera will add more depth to images.</span></p>
<p>This is far from being the first leak regarding HTC's next-generation One. A <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-htc-one-leaked-video-2014-3">video from last week </a>demonstrated a 12-minute tour of the device, and credible Twitter account @evleaks revealed that the phone will come with a 5-inch 1080p display.</p>
<p>We expect to learn more when HTC officially unveils its new flagship on March 25. <span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>

The New HTC Phone Is Rumored To Have A Camera That Can Shoot 3D Photos

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/40167442.cms" /><keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword> not so long introduced the Moto G, which pretty much redefined the affordable <keyword id="28168" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Smartphone">smartphone</keyword> market. Now the company is planning to launch a successor to this smartphone.<br />
<br /> There have been plenty of speculations regarding its successor even in the past. The latest buzz is that this smartphone will see the light of the day on September 10, 2014. This news report has been put by the folks at GSMArena, who also claim that the smartphone in questions could be dubbed either Moto <keyword id="1601182" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="G2">G2</keyword> or Moto G+1.<br />
<br /> From the previous leaks, it is pegged that the Moto G’s successor will be graced with 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels. In comparison, the Moto G offers a 4.5-inch display. In addition, the Moto G2 will be powered by a quad-core ARM V7 (VFPv4 NEON) processor with an Adreno 305 <keyword id="257940" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="GPU">GPU</keyword>, which is a good improvement.<br />

For camera, the grapevine suggests an 8MP rear camera and 2MP one on the front. Much like the Moto G, its successor, too, is likely to support dual-SIM capabilities.<br />
<br /> So far, there is no word on which version of <keyword id="6355645" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="android">Android</keyword> this smartphone will work but we are hoping that it has to be at least Android 4.4.x. It will also have 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, though we think that there will also be a 16 GB variant in the offering.<br />
As far as the price is concerned, there is a buzz that the Moto G2 might cost twice as much as the original device. This is quite contrary to the earlier news reports that suggested the Moto G2 might be cheaper than the Moto G.<br />

Earlier during the week, we had also heard that Motorola might be outing the Moto X+1 (which is being touted as the successor to Moto X) on September 25. So it seems like September will be launch-pack month, as we also have the IFA trade show in the beginning of the month, where we will see the new Galaxy Note device and the Sony Xperia Z3. Moto G2 Launching on September 10?

<p>The Bluetooth Special Interest Group's, which certifies Bluetooth devices, <a href="https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=22916">posted a listing</a> (first <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_smg906l_galaxy_s5_prime_gets_bluetooth_certification-news-8543.php">spotted by GSM Arena</a>) that refers to an unnamed Samsung device with a model number similar to that of the current Galaxy S5.</p>
<p>The Samsung device that's just been Bluetooth certified has a model number of SM-G906L, which hints that it could be a variant of the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900A for the U.S.). </p>
<p>The device is believed to be called the Galaxy S5 Prime, although Samsung has yet to confirm such a phone. <span>The Prime is believed to come with a 2560 x 1440 resolution display, which would make it one of the sharpest smartphone screens on the market. </span></p>
<p>It would contend with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/lg-g3-leaked-photos-2014-5">LG's upcoming G3 flagship smartphone</a>, which will have that exact same resolution. The Prime also may come with a slightly faster processor than the chip found in the standard Galaxy S5. </p>
<p>It's not uncommon for Samsung to release multiple versions of its flagship phones. The company released several Galaxy S4 spin-offs last year, including the semi-rugged Galaxy S4 Active, the Galaxy S4 Mini, and the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Samsung is rumored to release newer variants of these phones based on the Galaxy S5 in addition to the Galaxy S5 Prime.</p>
<p>If the rumors and reports from Korean media do turn out to be true, the S5 Prime may launch in June for the equivalent of $880, which is presumably the unlocked price without any carrier subsidies. The phone may also be the first Samsung device to feature an all-metal body rather than the company's traditional plastic design style. </p>
<p>Samsung is holding a product launch event on June 12, but the invitation hints at new tablets, not a new smartphone.</p>

Samsung May Launch An Even Better Version Of The Galaxy S5 Very Soon

LG didn't go into too much detail about how these modes will differ from one another, but did say that Manual will come with "a suite of modules and options for full creative control." </span></li><li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">LG says notifications will get more personal and contextual, too. The software will supposedly be able to analyze your daily routine and interests to deliver really specific notifications. If someone likes to play basketball, for example, the phone may automatically push a weather update that tells you whether or not it's going to be sunny outside.</span></li><li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The Ringtone ID feature makes a specific ringtone for every caller in your favorite contacts list.</span></li><li><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The Gallery app will create albums based on events you've attended by looking at the time and location each photo was taken. </span></li></ul><p>The announcement from LG comes after the company already confirmed that the phone will feature a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 resolution screen, just like the LG G3. That would make it one of the sharpest screens on any smartphone to date, packing 538 pixels per inch.</p><p>Although LG hasn't told us too much about the phone's hardware, a few leaks provide some idea as to what we can expect. LG focused on the camera with its last phone, too, saying that its "Laser Autofocus" allowed it to lock on to subjects faster than most other phones.</p><p>LG has some tough competition this year, however, now that Samsung has made some significant improvements to the camera and overall design of its latest Galaxy phone.</p><p>We expect to learn more on April 28 when LG officially announces the G4. Here's your first look at some of the features we'll see on LG's next big Android phone, the LG G4

With Android 5.0, or "Lollipop," Google is adding a bunch of changes that are both physical and internal.</p>
<p>One of the biggest alterations will be the introduction of Material Design - a new design language that puts more of an emphasis on shadows and colors. There are a handful of under-the-hood improvements, too, such as Project Volta, which is a collection of back end enhancements meant to improve battery life. </p>
<p>But, unlike the iPhone, Android devices don't get major software updates all at the same time. It depends on which type of phone you have and which carrier you're on.</p>
<p>There are also tons of Android phones that are left out of major carrier updates too.</p>
<p>We still don't know exactly when Android 5.0 will be released for every phone, but here's a roundup of what we know so far.</p>
<h3>Google</h3>
<p>Google's Nexus 6 will come with Android 5.0 already installed, and both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 will receive the update too. Google hasn't announced when it will launch, but Google has reportedly given developers a date of Nov. 3, according to blog Android Police.</p>
<h3>HTC</h3>
<p>HTC's One M8 and previous-generation One M7 will both get Android 5.0 as well. Jeff Gordon, the company's global online communications manager, t<a href="https://twitter.com/urbanstrata?original_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gottabemobile.com%2F2014%2F10%2F16%2Fhtc-one-android-5-0-lollipop-updates-confirmed%2F&amp;tw_i=522503886230142976&amp;tw_p=tweetembed">weeted that both phones will get the upgrade</a> within 90 days of the software's final release.</p>
<h3>Motorola</h3>
<p>Motorola <a href="http://motorola-blog.blogspot.com/2014/10/its-official-android-50-lollipop-coming.html">announced last week</a> that its first and second generation Moto X and Moto G will get Android 5.0, along with the Moto G LTE, Moto E, and Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini phones. </p>
<h3>Samsung</h3>
<p>Samsung hasn't made any official announcements regarding updates for its line of smartphones, but rumors suggest <a href="http://www.phonearena.com/news/Galaxy-S5-and-LG-G3-to-get-the-Android-5.0-Lollipop-update-in-December_id62116">the Galaxy S5 will be able to upgrade come December</a>. Samsung also <a href="https://twitter.com/SamsungMobile/status/524530552976994304">teased an Android Lollipop update</a> for its new Galaxy Note 4 via Twitter. It's likely that Samsung's other popular phones, such as the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, will also get the upgrade, but we haven't heard anything just yet. </p>
<h3>LG</h3>
<p>LG hasn't revealed which of its phones will get Android Lollipop yet either. However, rumors from tech blogs such as <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/newscomm-10031.php">GSM Arena</a> and <a href="http://www.phonearena.com/news/The-LG-G2-to-receive-the-LG-G3s-new-interface-Android-L-Version-update_id59682">PhoneArena</a> suggest the LG G3 will get the update before the end of the year, and the G2 will receieve the upgrade in early 2015.</p>
<p>We'll update this story as more carriers and manufacturers make announcements. </p>

Here Are All The Phones Confirmed To Get Google's Massive Android Update

Look at its smartphone product lineup, which features dozens - maybe hundreds? - of different models and versions of those models.</p>
<p>This image, <a href="http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung-phones-9.php">from a phone sales web site,</a> gives you an idea of how comically extensive Samsung's phone lineup is. It shows only a tiny portion of Samsung's countless phones. Which phone would you prefer, the Galaxy S Duos 3 or the Galaxy Ace NXT? Who knew Samsung even made either one?</p>
<p>Now, <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/afp-samsung-to-slash-number-of-smartphone-models-2014-11">Samsung is rationalising its product line, by cutting up to one third of its product lineup</a>. If another company had done that, take consumer products company Procter &amp; Gamble, for example, that would be huge news.</p>
<p>The move comes because Samsung's revenues and profits have both been falling, for two reasons:</p>
<ul>
<li>Chinese phone makers like Xiaomi are manufacturing cheap but stylish Android phones, which offer better value for money than Samsung's lower-tier cheap Androids.</li>
<li>Apple's iPhone 6 has waded into the high-price big-screen smartphone category, and will likely take a huge chunk of market share there. That category was recently dominated by Samsung's Galaxy S and Note lines. No longer.</li>
</ul>
<p>The company is being squeezed at both the top and bottom of the market, in other words. That wasn't so much of a problem when the main competition was on low-margin phones where there are few profits. But now Apple is forcing a real choice in terms of big-screen, high-end phones.</p>
<p>So now Samsung must act.</p>
<p>Fewer phones will reduce its manufacturing costs, making Samsung more profitable. It should also focus Samsung's legendarily gargantuan marketing budget, bringing further efficiencies.</p>
<p>That added focus ought to help Samsung do the one thing it has always done really well: Flood the market with the remaining phones that<em> are</em> succeeding with customers. At the low-price Android end, Samsung is having its lunch eaten in China by Xiaomi. The <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/08/04/xiaomi-overtakes-samsung-in-china-smartphone-market/">Chinese company just overtook Samsung as the No.1 seller there.</a> Samsung needs to fight back by offering something like a stripped down, cheap version of the Galaxy S5, with its hardware mostly intact. A small, budget phone with lousy hardware won't cut it there. Samsung needs to copy the miracle that Xiaomi has wrought, offering a superior phone at a low price.</p>

Apple is setting the pace here. Although the Galaxy S5 and the Note 4 have comparable features to Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung's problem is that customers will have a choice of buying a £500 ($700) Samsung Android or another Android several hundred price points below that. It's difficult to make the case that consumers should spend top dollar for Android when the entire advantage of Android is that it's a lot cheaper than iPhone, and you get pretty much the same thing.</p>
<p>Samsung will need to make some serious decisions about that. The company does have the talent to innovate on the Android platform successfully - <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/review-samsung-note-4-2014-11">the Note 4 is a seriously great phone</a>. The S-Pen writing/drawing stylus is a genuine treat to use (and if Apple had come up with it the tech blogosphere would be cheering). But Samsung has a habit of cluttering up its great hardware with a bunch of Samsung-branded stuff that no one ever asks for in the store. The company needs a creative director with taste and focus, and - crucially - the power to say no to the company's many, many partners and stakeholders.</p>
<p>The battle is existential: The company is already seeing its market disappear. If Samsung doesn't develop the focus and discipline to stay on course it knows what will happen: Relegation to the sub-brand phone layer occupied by HTC, LG and others - companies that make perfectly good phones that no one cares about.</p>
