In a regulatory filing, GMR Infrastructure announced the signing of definitive agreements for the sale of entire 51% stake owned by its wholly-owned subsidiary GMR SEZ and Port Holding Ltd (GSPHL) in Kakinada SEZ Ltd (KSEZ) to Aurobindo Realty and Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. <div type="image" title="GMR" msid="78311921" hostid="261"></div> "As part of the proposed transfer of stake of KSEZ, the 100 per cent equity stake of Kakinada Gateway Port Ltd (KGPL) held by KSEZ would also be transferred to Aurobindo Realty. Total consideration for the sale of equity stake as well as the sub-debt in KSEZ is ₹2,610 crore," the company said. GMR Infra said out of the total consideration, ₹1,600 crore would be received on the closing date and balance 1,010 crore would be received in next 2 to 3 years, which is contingent upon certain agreed milestones. Proceeds will be used majorly to reduce the indebtedness of GMR Group. KSEZ is engaged in the business of implementation of a port-based multi-product special economic zone project at Kakinada, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh and KGPL has the concession granted by the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a greenfield commercial port in the state. The sale transaction shall be subject to receipt of regulatory and other statutory approvals, the company added. <ul><li>Shares of Bharti Airtel jumped by 10% hitting a new 52-week high of ₹591.85, despite the telco reporting an unexpected quarterly loss.</li><li>However, Airtel noted that the unexpected loss was due to adoption of Ind AS 116 from April 1, 2019, which relates to leased assets and their accounting.</li><li>Its revenues for the March 2020 quarter grew by more than 15% compared to the same period last year, suggesting that there is healthy growth despite the COVID-19 headwinds.</li></ul>The share price of Bharti Airtel jumped by 10% even as the company posted an unexpected quarterly loss of ₹5,237 crore in the fourth quarter ended fiscal year 2020. The Airtel stock hit a 52-week high in the process, continuing its rally in May with an overall increase of almost 10% in 13 trading sessions. Citing the Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) liability case, the company said during the quarter the group has further recorded interest of ₹870.6 crore, which has been presented as exceptional item. The total capital expenditure for the just ended quarter stood at ₹11,339 crore. For the full year ended March 31, 2020, the company posted a net loss of ₹32,183.2 crore and revenue of ₹87,539 crore. At the end of FY 2019, Bharti Airtel had reported net profit of ₹409.5 crore and revenue of ₹80,780.2 crore. Bharti Airtel's MD and CEO, India &amp; South Asia, Gopal Vittal, said, "These are unprecedented times for every one across the world as we battle the impact of COVID-19 and its consequent impact on livelihoods." He added that telecom has played essential role in keeping the country going during the pandemic, and hoped that government would implement recommendations of the regulator and bring down the levies and taxes that the sector is subjected to. Bharti Airtel said the company has undertaken a capex investment of ₹25,359 crore during the year to ensure strong customer experience besides front-ending some investment to ensure seamless services during the ongoing pandemic. Bharti Airtel said its overall customer base stands at 423 million across 16 countries. Notably, its average revenue per user - a key metric for telecom companies - was at ₹154 against ₹123 in year ago period, and ₹135 in December quarter. "India revenues for Q4'20 at ₹17,438 crore have increased by 14.4% YoY on a reported basis. Mobile revenues have witnessed a year on year growth of 21.8% primarily led by increase in 4G customer base coupled with improved tariffs," the statement said. The company said that in line with its policy of passing through dividends received from Infratel, the Board of Directors has recommend a dividend of Rs. 2 per share for FY 2019-20, subject to shareholders' nod. Airtel shares jump by 10% despite an unexpected quarterly loss

In fact, the optimism is showing with foreign investors having bought ₹1,638 crore worth of equities on June 28 as against the net selling for most days of the year. While the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 75 basis points to 2.25-2.5%, the silver lining is investors' hope of a slowdown in rate hike hereafter. The optimism of easing macro conditions have led Indian indices to a three month high. “The US Fed chairman did not shock the markets this time as they announced a rate hike of 75 bps which was very much in line with expectations. In fact, the dovish commentary lifted the overall sentiments in US markets, which had a favorable rub off effect in our markets at the opening yesterday…Eventually, the benchmark index Nifty managed to close at 3-month high by adding more than 1.70% to the previous close,” said Sameet Chavan, chief analyst-technical and derivatives at Angel One. Apart from the supportive global cues, strong earnings results at home are also adding to market gains. Sensex and Nifty 50 surged over 1% today rising by 651 points at 57,509 and 200 points at 17,128 respectively. SBI Life Insurance was the top gainer on Nifty 50 as the company reported stellar quarter results of nearly 18% on year growth in net profit at ₹262 crore for the June quarter. Next in line are Tata Steel and Bajaj Finserv that have continued to rally as investors have been cheering the news of stock split. The former will split its shares in a ratio of 10:1 and the latter will split in 1:5 ratio along with the issue of bonus shares.
