New Delhi, Feb 21 () Competition Commission of India has given approval for GMR group's proposed 49 per cent stake sale in its airport business to France's Groupe ADP.The regulator's clearance is through the green channel, which allows for an automatic system for speedy approval of combinations, subject to certain conditions.On Thursday, GMR Infrastructure said the French group would acquire 49 per cent stake in its airport business for Rs 10,780 crore, a deal that will help the domestic entity reduce its debt burden.In a tweet on Friday, the watchdog said it has received "green channel combination filing from Aeroports de Paris SA for acquisition of 49 per cent stake in GMR Airports Ltd and 100 per cent stake in GMR Infra Services Ltd".Applications received under the green channel are deemed approved.Aeroports de Paris SA (ADP) would buy 100 per cent stake in GMR Infra Services Ltd and then 49 per cent shareholding in GMR Airports Ltd (GAL), as per a notice submitted to the regulator.GMR Infra Services is an operating and holding company. Its primary business is to hold shares in GAL, according to the notice.Under a share purchase agreement, Groupe ADP would have 49 per cent stake in GAL for an equity consideration of Rs 10,780 crore.Out of the total amount, Rs 9,780 crore would be towards secondary sale of shares by GMR group and Rs 1,000 crore would be equity infusion in GAL, GMR Infrastructure said in a statement on Thursday."As part of the terms of transaction, GMR will retain management control over the Airports Business with Groupe ADP having the customary rights and board representation at GAL &amp; its key subsidiaries," it had said.Earlier, GMR group was to enter into a deal with Tatas for the airport business.A GMR group spokesperson confirmed that the deal with Tatas has been called off.GMR Group operates Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Mactan Cebu International Airport in partnership with Megawide in Philippines.Groupe ADP develops and manages airports, including Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly and Paris-Le Bourget.According to the notice that was submitted to the CCI regarding the deal with Groupe ADP, there are no horizontal overlaps, vertical links or complementary businesses between the acquirer and the targets in India.While the acquirer is Groupe ADP, the targets referred in the notice are GMR Infra Services Ltd and GAL."In the absence of any overlaps between the parties in India, the proposed combination does not raise any risk of adverse effect on competition in India, and is accordingly being submitted through the 'Green Channel' route...," the notice said. On February 21, it was announced that Groupe ADP would acquire 49 per cent stake in GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) for Rs 10,780 crore. Aeroports de Paris SA (ADP) would buy 100 per cent stake in GMR Infra Services Ltd and then 49 per cent shareholding in GAL. GMR Infra Services is an operating and holding company. Its primary business is to hold shares in GAL. The company will also seek nod for divestment of entire equity stake in GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd held by GMR Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of the firm. On February 17, JSW Energy had announced signing a share purchase agreement to acquire 100 per cent of GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd, which owns and operates a 1,050 MW (3x350 MW) thermal power plant in Odisha, for Rs 5,321 crore (subject to working capital and other adjustments). New Delhi, Feb 26 () GMR Infrastructure on Wednesday said it has received Rs 5,248 crore from Groupe ADP as part of a deal wherein the French major is buying 49 per cent stake in the domestic group's airport business. On February 21, it was announced that Groupe ADP would acquire 49 per cent stake in GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) for Rs 10,780 crore. In a filing to stock exchanges on Wednesday, GMR Infrastructure said the group has received Rs 5,248 crore towards first tranche of payment from Groupe ADP. "The end utilisation of monies has been mainly for corporate debt reduction. Further, GMR Group has provided exit to the existing private equity investors in GMR Airports Ltd," it added. The deal would help the group to reduce its debt burden. As per an investor presentation, a copy of which was filed to the stock exchanges, the deal would help in "significant deleveraging at GMR Infrastructure Ltd using the equity raise" as well as result in "improved cash-flow and profitability" Aeroports de Paris SA (ADP) would buy 100 per cent stake in GMR Infra Services Ltd and then 49 per cent shareholding in GAL. Adani Enterprises Billionaire Gautam Adani’s Adani Group is in talks to buy out GVK and some of its partners in the Mumbai Airport as it aims to become the country’s biggest private airport operator. Adani Group is in talks to acquire a 50.5% stake held by GVK Group in Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) and another 23.5% of minority partners, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), and Bidvest Group, two sources with knowledge of the matter told PTI. Axis Bank Axis Bank on Monday said it would acquire 17% stake in Max Life Insurance instead of the 29% proposed earlier as per a revised deal. Axis Bank currently holds about 1 per cent stake in Max Life and is the biggest banking channel partner for the distribution of the insurer’s products. Products sold through the bank reportedly account for 54% of Max Life’s revenues. The shares of Axis Bank ended 2% higher on Monday. GMR Infra GMR Infra board to consider raising of funds of up to ₹5000 crore in one or more tranches, through the issue of securities as an enabling resolution as per the requirements of applicable laws which shall be subject to the approval of shareholders. The shares of GMR Infra ended 5% higher on Monday. Wipro Wipro announced a partnership with Standard Initial Margin Model (SIMM) vendor, Quaternion Risk Management. As part of the deal, Wipro will offer SIMM-in-a-box to financial institutions covered under Uncleared Margin Rules (UMR). The shares of Wipro ended nearly a percent lower on Monday. Allcargo Logistics The promoters of Allcargo Logistics have proposed to delist the company shares as part of its efforts to pare debt, the company said in a stock-exchange filing on August 24. LIC Housing Finance Mortgage lender LIC Housing Finance reported a 34% jump in its net profit to ₹817.48 crore for the quarter ending June helped by lower provisioning. The total income of the company rose to ₹4,977.49 crore in April-June 2020 from ₹4,807.21 crore in the year-ago quarter, according to a regulatory filing. The shares of LIC Housing Finance ended nearly a percent lower on Monday. JSW Energy JSW Energy said that its Executive Director Jyoti Kumar Agarwal, who is also the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), has tendered his resignation and will step down with effect from September 15. In a regulatory filing, the company said that Agarwal has decided to pursue career opportunities outside the company. The shares of JSW Energy ended 2% lower on Monday. Indian Energy Exchange Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) on Monday said its board of directors had accepted the resignation of its Managing Director and CEO Rajiv Srivastava. The company has given Satyanarayan Goel the additional charge of Managing Director and CEO. “Board of directors of the company at its meeting held today, i.e. August 24, 2020, has approved the resignation of Rajiv Srivastava, Managing Director &amp; CEO of the company, who has tendered his resignation on August 24, 2020, from the board of the company, due to his personal reasons,” the company said in a stock-exchange filing. The company in a stock-exchange filing said the board would meet again to discuss the delisting proposal in detail, after receipt of the due diligence report from the Merchant Banker. The shares of Allcargo Logistics ended nearly 4% lower on Thursday. GMR Infra GMR Infrastructure has decided to restructure its business. In a 'scheme of arrangement' involving vertical split demerger of the non-airport business — these include energy, urban infrastructure and EPC services - will be split into GPUIL. The airport business will be listed separately. The shares of GMR Infra ended 0.19% higher on Thursday.

New Delhi, Feb 24 () Shares of GMR Infrastructure on Monday surged over 12 per cent after the CCI gave approval for the GMR group's proposed 49 per cent stake sale in its airport business to France's Groupe ADP.The stock hit a high of Rs 26.55, up 12.5 per cent, on the BSE. Later, it shed some gains to trade higher by 10.81 per cent at Rs 26.15.On the NSE, the scrip was trading at Rs 26.30, up 11.21 per cent.The Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Friday gave approval for GMR group's proposed 49 per cent stake sale in its airport business to France's Groupe ADP.The regulator's clearance is through the green channel, which allows for an automatic system for speedy approval of combinations, subject to certain conditions.On Thursday, GMR Infrastructure had said the French group would acquire 49 per cent stake in its airport business for Rs 10,780 crore, a deal that will help the domestic entity reduce its debt burden. GMR Infra shares soar over 12 pc on stake sale in airport biz

Mumbai, Jan 19 () Aviation consultancy firm CAPA has said it expects the second international airport in Goa to be ready for operations in next three years. 
 The Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the decks for construction of an international airport by the GMR Group at Mopa in North Goa by lifting suspension on environmental clearance (EC) granted for the project.
 Immediately after SC's order, the GMR Group said it plans to start work soon for the new aerodrome.
 The top court had early last year suspended the EC granted for the greenfield airport and had directed the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) to revisit the decision in light of its impact on the ecology there.
 "Delays in critical infrastructure projects is costly for the economy and the consumer. It is good that GMR Group's Mopa project finally got clearance. We can look forward to new airport in next three years," CAPA South Asia Chief Executive Officer Kapil Kaul told .
 The state government had initially given September 2020 as the deadline for commissioning of the estimated Rs 3,000 crore airport project after GMR Group won bids for development and operations of the aerodrome in 2016, beating state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Essel Infra-Incheon.
 However, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said in the Assembly last year that he was expecting the airport to be completed by 2021.
 Kaul also said that the the delay is likely to push up the project cost, but its impact could be minimised.
 "There will be cost escalation but GMR has the ability to minimise the impact," he said.
 GMR had last year said it was incurring a loss of Rs 50 lakh per day on account of suspension of work at the project.
 The new airport, which under the concession agreement offers 232 acres of land for commercial city side development for a period of 60 years, would have a capacity to handle 30 million passengers annually once fully operational.
 The existing airport at Dabolim, which was designed to handle 50 lakh passengers per year, has far exceeded its capacity and AAI has already embarked on an expansion plan to increase the capacity to 1.30 crore passengers per annum by 2022. 
 The concession period for the greenfield project will be 40 years with a possible extension of another 20 years through a bid process.
 The airport will be built under the BOT (Build Operate Transfer) model.
 The regulatory regime for the concession will be hybrid till with 30 per cent cross subsidy.
 Under the hybrid till model, only up to 30 per cent of the non-aeronautical revenues, which include segments like retail, food and beverages and parking, would be used for cross-subsidisation of aeronautical charges. 
 Aeronautical charges include those related to route and terminal navigation services. IAS RVK
