<keyword id="139797" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Securities-and-Exchange-Board-of-India">The Securities and Exchange Board of India</keyword> (<keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword>) has imposed over Rs 96 lakh penalty on Divi's Laboratories' Chief Financial officer (CFO) L <keyword id="1269821" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kishore-Babu">Kishore Babu</keyword> and his close associates including his son for allegedly indulging in <keyword id="6360088" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Insider-Trading">insider trading</keyword> in 2017. "Based on investigation conducted by SEBI, L Kishore Babu, <keyword id="9503208" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="praveen-lingamneni">Praveen Lingamneni</keyword>, Nagesh Lingamaneni, Sri Lakshmi Lingamaneni, D Srinivasa Rao, Radhika Dronavalli, Gopichand Lingamaneni and Pushpa Latha Devi were identified as "insiders" who had, directly or indirectly, traded in the scrip during the Investigation Period," SEBI said in its order issued on July 1. The market regulator alleged that Divi's, a city-based pharma company had made an announcement on July 10, 2017, during market hours that USFDA would lift import alert 99-32 on the company's unit-II at Visakhapatnam, which was price- sensitive information. Kishore Babu who is in a key managerial position allegedly had access to the information even before the announcement was made public, the market regulator said. <keyword id="185315" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="G-Mahalingam">G Mahalingam</keyword>, wholetime director of SEBI, who issued the orders said the persons or entities mentioned may file their replies to the regulator within 30 days from the date of receipt of this order. Kolkata, Feb 15 () The ongoing tension between theUS and China, which has been affecting the global trade, willhave its impact on the emerging markets and will not spare themutual fund (MF) industry too, a Sebi official said onSaturday.The amount of liquidity of the US economy is beingsucked out as the Federal Reserve has been "withdrawing USD660 billion per year", Sebi's whole-time member G. Mahalingamsaid."This will definitely have an impact on the emergingmarkets and will not spare the MF industry. The globalscenario is not rosy," he said at a programme organised byIndian Chamber of Commerce here.The official of the Securities and Exchange Board ofIndia said that liquidity is an important benchmark."There could be credit or operational risk. More riskmanagement guidelines will be forthcoming as the capitalmarkets regulator will discuss on these issues," he said.Mahalingam said prudent management is required for thesustainability of the mutual fund industry on a long-termbasis."Sustainability is required. The MF industry isgrowing at 21-22 per cent and this growth rate will not bethere forever. It will come down," he said.Asking whether the MF instruments are competitive ascompared to bank deposits, he said, "Safety of the investmentsis equally important and this feature has to be in-built."The MF industry should leverage techonologies andreach out to retail investors beyond metro or tier-I cities.Mahalingam ruled out the possibility of using mutualfunds as payment instruments in India in near future as it isdone in some other countries.He said that there is "a credibility issue" in the MFindustry which can be addressed through awareness drive.N S Venkatesh, chief executive of the Association ofMutual Funds in India said that the growth of assets undermanagement (AUM) in the industry is expected to be flat thisfiscal. dcBDC BDC

The number of executive directors has now gone up to 11. It has also restructured some banking regulation departments. 
 M D Patra, principal advisor in the <keyword id="1506340" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Monetary-Policy-Department">monetary policy department</keyword>, has been promoted to the post of executive director. He will be the head of the monetary policy department and the department of economic policy and research. Prior to this, both these departments were under Executive Director D Mohanty, who will now oversee the financial stability unit and the inspection and risk monitoring department. 
 
K K Vohra and G Mahalingam are the other new executive directors.
