New Delhi, <keyword id="2754241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sovereign-Gold-Bonds" source="Orion">Sovereign Gold Bonds</keyword> 2023-24 (Series III) has been opened for subscription during the period December 18-22, 2023 with Settlement date December 28, 2023, the Finance Ministry said on Friday. The <keyword id="35215" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Issue-price" source="Orion">issue price</keyword> of the Bond during the subscription period will be Rs 6,199 per gram. The <keyword id="6357307" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-government" source="Orion">Central government</keyword> in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India has decided to allow a discount of Rs 50 per gram from the issue price to those investors who apply online and the payment is made through digital mode. For such investors the issue price of Gold Bond will be Rs 6,149 per gram of gold, according to the Finance Ministry statement.

Jaitley was addressing reporters at 'The Future of Asia' Conference organised by Nikkei Inc, when he said that over the last few years, China has been shouldering almost 50% of global growth, but because of a slow economy, "the ability of China to shoulder that percentage of growth may not be there and therefore the world also is now looking for other shoulders to rest its growth on." 
 
"Since we have a lot of infrastructure deficit and expenditure still to undertake and I think all that is going to be a very powerful driver of economic growth in India," he added. 
 
Jaitley is in Japan for six days, where he would be wooing the potential investors. He, however, added that it’s not possible for any country to replace another, given that the world has enough space for major economies to emerge. 
 
He said that as of now, Indian economy’s growth rate is more than China, "but China will always remain a major economy."

The meeting, chaired by Financial Services secretary Hasmukh Adhia, was attended by representatives of <keyword id="134585" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Micro-Finance">micro finance</keyword> institutions, NBFCs, Banks, NABARD, SIDBI and RBI, ET quoted a statement issued by the <keyword id="47209" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Finance-Ministry">Finance Ministry</keyword>. 

	As per the statement issued by the ministry, "Based on the consultation which took place today as well as the consultation which will happen in the days to come, the exact modalities of functioning of MUDRA Bank and its activities would be framed before the formal launch of MUDRA Bank on April, 8 2015 by the Prime Minister, and the same would be unveiled on the day of launch." 
 The ET report also added that the MUDRA bank would join hands with state-level/regional-level coordinators to provide <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="finance">finance</keyword> to last mile financier of small/micro business enterprises. It would also chart out policy guidelines for micro/small enterprise financing business, registration of MFI entities, regulation of MFI entities and accreditation /rating of MFI entities. Besides, the bank will also frame guidelines for financing practices to ward-off indebtedness and ensure proper client protection principles and methods of recovery. An Indian Express report quoted a note submitted by the central bank to a parliamentary panel saying that it was Centre’s plan and not RBI.

A day after all this happened, the RBI Central Board met “to consider the government advice” and after “deliberations” decided to recommend to the Central Government that the legal tender status of the banknotes in the high denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 be withdrawn.” The Government “considered the recommendations” and decided to withdraw the notes, says the report.

John Thomas Financial CEO And 'Wall Street 2' Actor Tommy Belesis Has Been Barred From The Industry

Yes, Argentina has said that it is<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/argentina-capitulates-2014-6"> willing to negotiate</a> with a group of hedge fund managers that have been suing the country for full payment on Argentine bonds dating back to the country's last financial collapse in 2001. With interest, it's about $1.7 billion.
And yes, the two parties - NML (the hedge funds) and Argentina - met yesterday in the office of Judge Thomas Griesa, the judge whose order that Argentina pay the hedge fund managers in full was essentially upheld by the Supreme Court on Monday.
But there are still a few very ugly loose ends to tie up here. One of them being the little matter of a <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/argentina-plans-debt-swap-analysts-doomed-24200517">$907 million</a> payment due June 30th that Argentina owes exchange bondholders, the 92% of investors holding these bonds who did take a haircut on the same debt that NML owns. Because Judge Griesa l<a href="https://twitter.com/franma1990/status/479305785940672512">ifted the stay on payment</a> put in place during Argentina's appeal to the Supreme Court, that payment calendar is back in motion.
And Argentina needs to figure something out as soon as possible, for according to Judge Griesa's order, it cannot pay exchange bondholders without paying the holdouts as well.
That means there needs to be some fast talking, but Jorge Capitanich, the head of Argentina's cabinet, has said the country will not send a delegation to New York City to negotiate. On that news, A<a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-06-19/argentine-bonds-fall-as-capitanich-rules-out-mission-to-new-york.html">rgentine bonds reversed the gains</a> they made Wednesday on the news that the country would negotiate.
Perhaps this is what Judge Griesa was talking about when <a href="http://www.lanacion.com.ar/1702446-tras-la-reunion-el-juez-thomas-griesa-se-refirio-a-la-cadena-nacional-de-cristina-kirchner-no-me-da-confianza">he said at the meeting</a>: "Really a promise of good faith from Argentina gives me little confidence that the country will make its payments."
He also said that President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner's fiery language regarding the "vulture" funds does not help matters either.
So what are Argentina's options? (Aside from changing the jurisdiction of the bonds from the U.S. to Argentina, a cockamamie scheme concocted by Finance Minsiter Axel Kicillof that Griesa shot down yesterday.)

<li>Argentina can appeal to the Supreme Court, the highest Court in the land is unlikely to play that game, and it is Judge Griesa who has control of the stay on payment anyway. So this would be a waste of time. Additionally, according to <a href="http://www.creditslips.org/files/arg7712105-letter-2-061614.pdf">NML the stay has BEEN over.</a></li>
