"You asked me about exit polls predicting most seats to the BJP, to which I said wait for the actual poll results on June 4," the Congress veteran said. Haryana is known for "jai jawan, jai kisan, jai pehalwan". "But what did they (BJP) do. They brought Agniveer (Agnipath scheme), which faced opposition from the youth. Hooda said that unemployment increased in the state during the BJP rule while the law and order situation also deteriorated. Farmers finally end their one-year long protest, will vacate the Delhi borders on Saturday

The Kisan <keyword id="372991" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maha-panchayat" source="Orion">Maha Panchayat</keyword> in Lucknow on Monday was a firm reiteration of the six-point charter of demands that farmers have submitted to the Prime Minister. The Sanyukta <keyword id="329771" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kisan-morcha" source="Orion">Kisan Morcha</keyword>, an umbrella organisation of the farmers' unions, said that their protests would continue till their demands, including guarantee for minimum support price and dismissal of Union Minister <keyword id="12583565" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ajay-misra-teni" source="Orion">Ajay Misra Teni</keyword>, were met. Addressing thousands of farmers from several states, BKU spokesperson <keyword id="197789" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rakesh-Tikait" source="Orion">Rakesh Tikait</keyword> said, "Our 'andolan' is not going to end till all our demands are met. We will hold similar panchayats across the country and those who think that the issue is over, are sadly mistaken." He said that MSP guarantee was their foremost demand. "We want to make the minimum support price (MSP) that is based on the formula of C2+50 per cent (means 50 per cent above the cost of production) as a legal right for all crops and for all farmers. In our letter, we have reminded the Prime Minister that it was a committee under his chair that had in 2011 recommended this to the then Prime Minister and his government later announced it in Parliament too," said Tikait. A large number of farmers at the Maha Panchayat came from Lakhimpur Kheri and the issue of the October 3 incident in which four farmers were allegedly mowed down by an SUV belonging to Union Minister Ajay Misra Teni's son Ashish Misra, figured prominently at the Maha Panchayat. The farmers demanded the dismissal and arrest of the minister who is also an accused in the case. His son Ashish Misra is already in jail. Tikait said that he had learnt that the government was bringing a new policy on dairy development and the farmers wanted that they should be consulted on the issue. He said that the next meeting of the farmers would be held on Delhi borders on November 26. The farmers, meanwhile, demanded land at Singhu border for a memorial in memory of farmers who had lost their lives during the agitation. Tikait also sought compensation for the families of deceased farmers. The other demands included withdrawal of the Power Regulation Amendment Bill, withdrawal of all cases related to the Delhi border agitation and stubble burning. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Sunday put forth six conditions in an open letter to the Prime Minister and threatened to continue the agitation if the government failed to discuss these with the farmers. Union Cabinet likely to approve on Wednesday bills for withdrawal of farm laws

New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI) Hitting out at the Centre over "hollow claims" regarding the agri sector in the Union Budget, Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav on Tuesday alleged the government took its "revenge" on farmers for leading a successful movement against the now-repealed farm laws. This budget has been marked by silence with regard to farmers as there was no mention of doubling the farmer's income or comments on schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), he said. "As far as farmers are concerned, the message of this budget is clear. The government, humiliated by the farmers' movement, is out to take revenge on them. The budget was characterised by silence," Yadav said in a video message on Twitter. He said there is no allocation, declaration or dialogue about farmers in the 2022-23 Union Budget. "Earlier you had beautiful dialogues, talks about farmers in every budget speech, even though there were no allocations. This time, no allocations, no declarations and no dialogues either. "Clearly, the finance minister and the prime minister are very upset with the farmers," Yadav added. "This year, the work to double farmers' income was to be completed. The previous five budgets had long poems about doubling the income of farmers. This year, when that work was to be accounted for, there was complete silence about it. "Since the last two years, we heard about agriculture investment funds of Rs 1 lakh crore. However, just Rs 2,600 crores have been spent," Yadav said. Presenting the Union Budget 2022-23 in Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the Centre will promote 'Kisan Drones' for crop assessment, chemical-free natural farming, public-private partnerships for the delivery of digital and high-tech services to farmers across the country during the financial year 2022-23. Taking a jibe at the Centre over the 'Kisan Drones' announcement, Yadav said, "The government said it will gives drones, like they gave farmer rail earlier. So from satellites, we have come down to drones. Hopefully, one day we will come down to the ground as well. Wait for Amrit Kaal or prepare for struggle." On Monday, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of farm unions that spearheaded the protests against the Centre's agri laws, threatened to resume its agitation if the government does not fulfil promises made to farmers in December last year. Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh camped at Delhi's borders for over a year, demanding the repeal of the Centre's three contentious farm laws. Budget: Govt taking 'revenge' on farmers for farm law protests, alleges Yogendra Yadav

The blockade started at 8 am and would last 24 hours. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of protesting farmer unions spearheading the agitation against the agriculture-related legislations, on Friday gave a call for a 24-hour blockade of the <keyword id="6367712" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kmp-expressway">KMP expressway</keyword>. The 136-km-long expressway is also known as the Western Peripheral Expressway. Protesting farmers, however, said emergency vehicles will be allowed to ply. Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) general secretary Harinder Singh Lakhowal said the blockade would be for 24 hours. Haryana Police in the meanwhile issued a traffic advisory, asking travellers to avoid the KMP expressway. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh Virk on Friday said elaborate arrangements were in place to maintain peace and order, prevent any kind of violence and facilitate traffic movement and public transport on the expressway. Traffic diversions have been planned by affected districts especially Sonipat, Jhajjar, Panipat, Rohtak, Palwal, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Nuh, Virk said. Passengers coming from Ambala/Chandigarh side on National Highway-44 may go towards UP's Ghaziabad and Noida via Karnal to <keyword id="6360543" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="shamli">Shamli</keyword> and from Panipat to Sanauli. Vehicles going towards Gurgaon and Jaipur can take National Highway-71A from Panipat and travel via Gohana, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Rewari. Farmers protesting against the Centre's three <keyword id="9970645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="farm-laws">farm laws</keyword> across <keyword id="6354953" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="punjab">Punjab</keyword> and <keyword id="41646" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana">Haryana</keyword> on Wednesday observed as a '<keyword id="80230" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Black-Day">Black Day</keyword>' to mark six months of the agitation. At most of the places, both in rural and urban areas, farmers staged <keyword id="6354896" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="protests">protests</keyword> against the controversial farm laws. They put up black flags atop their houses and burnt effigies of Central government leaders. In a Bhiwani village in Haryana, farmers burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have been protesting since November last year on Delhi borders against the agricultural laws. Heavy police presence could be seen at various places in Haryana and Punjab to maintain law and other in view of the protests. There was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the states. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a former ally of the BJP, participated in the protest. "As the Kisan Andolan completes six months today, I again urge the Centre to deal compassionately with farmers and repeal the black laws," said SAD President Sukhbir Badal, who hoisted a black flag atop his residence in his native village Badal in Punjab's Bathinda district.
