The company's revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,799 crore, up from Rs 2,848 crore from the year-ago period. Zomato's GOV (gross order value) for its B2C business was at Rs 17,670 crore, a 55% YoY growth. On a like-for-like basis, i.e., excluding the impact of the acquisition of <keyword id="19898109" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Paytm" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Paytm" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Paytm">Paytm</keyword>'s ticketing business, the GOV growth stood at 53% YoY. However, the company's <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> skyrocketed, jumping by 389% YoY. For the quarter ended September 30, 2024, Zomato's net profit stood at Rs 176 crore, significantly up from the Rs 36 crore level in the year-ago period. Ahead of the IPO of rival food and grocery delivery competitor <keyword id="19896956" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swiggy" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Swiggy" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Swiggy">Swiggy</keyword>, Zomato's board also approved the raising of Rs 8,500 crore through qualified institutional placement of equity shares. “While the business is now generating cash (vis-à-vis a loss-making business at the time of the IPO), we believe that we need to enhance our cash balance given the competitive landscape and the much larger scale of our business today,” said the company, explaining the fundraise. Blinkit's gross order value (GOV) also saw a 122% year-on-year increase to Rs 6,132 crore. Blinkit saw massive improvements on almost all operational metrics. The average order value jumped from Rs 607 in the year-ago period to Rs 660 in Q2 FY25. The average GOV per day per store also inched up from 757 in Q2FY24 to 981 in Q2FY25. Similarly, orders also skyrocketed from 45.5 million in the year-ago period to 92.9 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2024. As for Zomato's <keyword id="20299302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="food-delivery" source="keywords">food delivery</keyword> business, the average monthly transacting users also inched up from 18.4 million in Q2 FY24 to 20.7 million in Q2 FY25. The results did not do much to move Zomato's stock on the bourses, which fell by 3.44% during the day to close at Rs 256.55.

Scooter sales recorded a growth of 16.9% in the second quarter, with a total of 18.32 lakh units sold compared to 15.67 lakh units in the same period last year. Motorcycle sales also increased by 10.2%, reaching 32.09 lakh units compared to 29.13 lakh units in the year-ago quarter. On the other hand, the electric rickshaw (E-rickshaw) segment saw a sharp decline in sales. E-rickshaw sales dropped by 30.7% in the second quarter, with only 7,227 units sold compared to 10,430 units in the same quarter last year. Substantial drop in sales of cars, goods carriers and light commercial vehicles in Q2: SIAM

New Delhi: The merger of media assets of Reliance Industries and the India business of global media house the Walt Disney is expected to be complete by the end of the third quarter of this fiscal, according to a regulatory filing by billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led group. The fair trade regulator CCI has already approved the merger of Viacom 18 and <keyword id="19976122" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Star-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Star India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Star India">Star India</keyword> and NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) has sanctioned the scheme regarding it. "The companies are in the process of obtaining other requisite approvals for the completion of the transaction and transaction closer is expected in 3Q FY 25," informed Reliance Industries on Monday in its quarter earning statement. The merger of Reliance group-controlled media assets - TV18 Broadcast and E18 - with Network18 Media &amp; Investments has already been sanctioned by the NCLT and was made effective on October 3, it said. Earlier on September 27, the government approved the transfer of licenses relating to Non News &amp; Current Affairs TV channels held by media entities of Reliance Industries to Star India. "The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, vide its order dated September 27, has granted its approval for transfer of Licenses relating to Non News &amp; Current Affairs TV channels held by <keyword id="19976121" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Viacom18" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Viacom18" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Viacom18">Viacom18</keyword> Media Private Limited in favour of Star India," it had said. Viacom18 is the holding company that owns the media and entertainment business of billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries and Bodhi Tree Systems. Both sides are in the final stages of the merger, making some adjustments in the business as per the Competition Commission of India (CCI) directions. On August 30, the NCLT had approved the scheme of merger of Viacom18 Media and Digital 18 Media, holding media and entertainment assets of Reliance Industries with Star India. The scheme had proposed the transfer and vesting of Media Operations Undertaking from Viacom 18 and Jio Cinema into Digital18, which is a subsidiary of Viacom 18. This would be followed by "demerger, transfer and vesting of V18 Undertaking from Digital 18 into Star India". The merger of the media assets of Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Co.'s India business will create the country's largest media empire worth over Rs 70,000 crore. Earlier, the CCI had said it has cleared the "proposed combination involving Reliance Industries Ltd, Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd, Digital18 Media Ltd, Star India Pvt Ltd and Star Television Productions Ltd, subject to the compliance of voluntary modifications". Viacom18 is part of the RIL group, and Star India is wholly owned by The <keyword id="19986269" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Walt-Disney-Company" source="keywords">Walt Disney Company</keyword>. Star Television Productions, a company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, is owned indirectly by Walt Disney. The CCI, however, did not disclose voluntary modifications in the original deal made by the two parties. As per the deal, Mukesh Ambani-led RIL and its affiliates will hold 63.16 per cent of the combined entity that will house two streaming services and 120 television channels. Walt Disney will hold the remaining 36.84 per cent stake in the combined entity, which will also be India's largest media house. Reliance Industries has also agreed to invest close to Rs 11,500 crore into the joint venture to give it the muscle to fight rivals like Japan's Sony and Netflix. Nita Ambani, wife of billionaire and RIL Chairman <keyword id="19916798" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani" source="keywords">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>, will head the joint venture, while Uday Shankar will be the vice-chairperson.

Reliance expects to complete merger with Disney's India business in Q3

New Delhi: India's <keyword id="19913114" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="initial-public-offering" source="keywords">Initial Public Offering</keyword> (IPO) market witnessed a resurgence in 2024, with a total of 272 companies going public compared to 164 during the previous fiscal year, highlights a report by <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="SEBI" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="SEBI" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="SEBI">SEBI</keyword>. The market regulator SEBI stated that upbeat secondary markets, enthusiasm from retail investors, and strong institutional flows set the stage for a flurry of new listings. "After a relative moderation during 2022-23, the equity segment witnessed a resurgence in fundraising activity during the current fiscal. The <keyword id="19926041" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO-market" source="keywords">IPO market</keyword> had been vibrant with a total of 272 companies going public as compared to 164 during the last fiscal year," said SEBI. The report also noted that India received the highest <keyword id="20018891" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-investment" source="keywords">foreign investment</keyword> in the year 2023-24, as the investment surged to a new high of Rs 3.4 lakh crore. It also added that the investment in the year 2023-24 is the highest since the year 1992-93. "Compared to net outflows of Rs 40,936 crore in 2022-23, FPIs invested Rs 3.4 lakh crore in India during 2023-24, which was the highest since 1992-93," said SEBI. SEBI highlighted that Foreign Portfolio Investment and foreign venture capital investment are crucial for emerging economies like India. FY 2023-24 was an exceptional year for India in terms of foreign portfolio investment flows. It added that India's continuing growth resilience, financial stability, reining in of inflation, fiscal consolidation coupled with the persistence of inflation in advanced economies, uncertain geopolitical scenarios, etc., attracted a record level of foreign flows to India. The report noted that in the midst of a subdued global economic scenario with recession risks and monetary tightening, India's economic prospects were bright among emerging markets, driven by a fillip in manufacturing and service sector activities, easing inflation, fiscal consolidation, financial stability, and buoyant <keyword id="20977711" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-performance" source="keywords">market performance</keyword>. According to the sector-wise breakup on FPI investment, the report stated that out of the consolidated Rs 64.2 lakh crore equity assets held by FPIs, Rs 18.6 lakh crore were invested in financial services, followed by oil, gas, and consumable fuels (Rs 6.0 lakh crore), information technology (Rs 5.9 lakh crore), and automobile and auto components with Rs 4.8 lakh crore invested.

In FY24, 272 companies went public as compared to 164 in FY23: SEBI

India's second-largest IT behemoth managed to beat industry estimates with its Q1FY25 results, which were announced today. The company's <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> saw a YoY rise of 7.1% to touch Rs 6,368 crore. The company's <keyword id="19945274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue" source="keywords">revenue</keyword> rose 3.6% YoY to reach Rs 39,315 crore, as compared to Rs 37,933 crore in the year-ago period. The company managed to add 87 new clients to its base during the quarter. As of June 30th, 2023, the company had an active clientele of 1,867. The financial services segment was the biggest contributor (at 27.5%) to the IT giant's total revenue during the quarter. However, <keyword id="19914449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="manufacturing" source="keywords">manufacturing</keyword> registered the highest YoY growth, contributing 14.7% to the revenue between April-June 2024. This was a reported increase of 6.4%, up from 14.1% during April-June 2023. Revenue shares of other segments, including retail, communication, energy and utilities sunk during the quarter. Notably, the company's TCV (<keyword id="1149731" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="total-contract-value" source="Orion">total contract value</keyword>) for the quarter stood at $4.1 billion. Its free cash flows also swelled significantly on a YoY basis, up from $699 million during April-June 2023 to $1,094 million as of June 30th, 2023. <h2>Fall in headcount</h2>The company's <keyword id="20752187" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="employee-count" source="keywords">employee count</keyword> saw a dip for the 6th consecutive quarter, slipping by 1,908 during the quarter. With this, the company's current employee count stands at 3,15,332. In terms of geographical contribution to revenue, India reported a 18.4% YoY increase, up from 2.7% during April-June 2023 to 3.1% in April-June 2024. However, the company's total operating expenses marginally inched up by 3.6% YoY, up to $461 million during April-June 2024, as opposed to $445 million in the year-ago period. <keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword> saw a YoY increase in the number of clients worth over $1 million. From 940 during April-June 2023, the number rose to 987 during the previous quarter. The contribution of top 5, 10 and 25 clients remained largely similar on a YoY basis, at 13.5%, 20.9% and 34.9% respectively, during April-June 2024.

Infosys Q1FY25 results: Net profits jump 7.1%, revenue beats market estimates at Rs 39,315 crore

India's largest paint maker <keyword id="20026009" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Asian-Paints" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Asian Paints" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Asian Paints">Asian Paints</keyword>, reported a 24.5% dip in its net profits for the quarter, pushing it down to Rs 1,170 crore from Rs 1,383 crore in the same quarter last year. The company's net sales during the quarter also dipped by over 2% to touch Rs 8,970 crore, compared to Rs 9,182.31 crore in the year-ago period. In a statement, Amit Syngle, MD and CEO of Asian Paints attributed the below-expectation results to tough demand conditions during <keyword id="21159844" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="April-June" source="keywords">April-June</keyword>, which also saw severe heatwaves and general elections. However, he expected the demand to pick up soon, largely on the back of improving <keyword id="22447264" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rural-sentiment" source="keywords">rural sentiment</keyword> and monsoon making headway in the country. The company's international sales also took hit, down to Rs 679.1 crore from Rs 695.1 crore, mainly due to liquidity and forex crises it experienced in the key markets, namely Asia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Egypt. On the other hand, Ethiopia and <keyword id="19931726" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sri-lanka" source="keywords">Sri Lanka</keyword> proved beneficial for the company's international growth during the quarter. In June 2024, the company paid out a final dividend of Rs 28.15 per equity share to its shareholders. The company also reported a 7% volume growth during the previous quarter. But its EBITDA margin during the quarter shrunk from 23.1% in the same quarter last year to 18.1% between April-June 2024. The company's consolidated profits before depreciation, interest, tax, income and exceptional items dipped to Rs 1,694 crore, as compared to Rs 2,121 crore in the year ago period. <h2>Bath fitting sales inch up </h2>The only segment within the business' umbrella that registered growth was the bath fitting segment, which grew by 10%, and <keyword id="6921293" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kitchen-fittings" source="Orion">kitchen fittings</keyword>, which jumped by 4.6%. The company's industrial business grew by 5.8% due to solid growth in auto original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and the powder coating segments. At close of markets on Tuesday, the paint maker's stock was trading at Rs 2,968.00, up by 0.39%. Over the last year, the company's share has fallen by as much as 14.23%, but it remains a solid catch for long-term investors, jumping up by 116.78% over the last 5 years.

Asian Paints Q1FY25 results: Net profit dips by 25%, revenue also misses market estimates

The company's revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 28,057 crore, registering a 1.6% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) decline and a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 6.7%. The company's <keyword id="20387237" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EBIT" source="keywords">EBIT</keyword> (earnings before interest and tax) was Rs 4,795 crore, down 4.4% QoQ but up 7.5% YoY. The company also declared an <keyword id="397990" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="interim-dividend" source="Orion">interim dividend</keyword> of Rs 12 per share, making April–June 2024 the 86th consecutive quarter where the company paid out dividends. The company's net income also jumped from Rs 3,534 crore in June 2023 to Rs 4,257 crore in June, 2024. The company's new deals secured during the quarter, or total contract value (TCV), were around $1,960 million. Its employee workforce as of June 30th, 2024, stood at 2,19,401. The company let go of 8,080 employees during the quarter. However, its attrition rate came down to 12.8% during the quarter, down from 16.3% in Q1 FY24. At the close of trade today, HCL Tech's stock was trading at Rs 1,561.75, up by 3.30%. The company's operating cash flows (OCF) for the quarter stood at $2,722 million, while its free cash flows (FCF) were around $2,604 million. Revenues at HCLTech Services saw a dip of 1.9% on a QoQ basis but rose by 5.8% on a YoY basis, in constant currency terms. <h2>Looking ahead</h2>In FY25, the company expects its revenue growth to be in the range of 3-5% on a year-over-year basis, in constant currency terms. Its revenue from services is also set to grow within the same estimates. The company also anticipates its EBIT margins to be between 18 and 19% in FY25. Per its reports, the company's top 20 clients contributed 30.1% of its total revenue. Service revenue from the <keyword id="20049715" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="americas" source="keywords">Americas</keyword> saw the maximum jump of 8% on a year-on-year basis, in constant currency terms. As of June 30, 2023, the revenue mix from the Americas was at 64.5%, which grew to 66% this quarter. Opposed to this, the rest of the world's share of the revenue mix dipped by 6.8% as of June 30th, 2023, to 6.1% as of June 30th, 2024. Amidst the company's verticals, the telecommunications, media, publishing &amp; entertainment vertical registered the maximum YoY growth of 69.2%, jumping to 12.2% last quarter from 7.6% as of June 30th, 2023. During the quarter, the company lost 4 clients worth over $20 million and gained 9 clients worth over $5 million. On a year-on-year basis, the company added 14 clients worth $5 million to its base.

HCL Tech Q1 results: Company reports better than expected results, revenue jumps 6.7% YoY

<keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword>'s <keyword id="23127366" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="consumption-loan" source="Orion">consumption loan</keyword> portfolio grew by 15.2% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 90.3 lakh crore as of March 2024, according to the latest <keyword id="6354680" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="credit" source="Orion">credit</keyword> bureau report. The fourth edition of the CRIF High Mark report noted a slowdown from the 17.4% growth recorded in March 2023, largely due to a deceleration in the home <keyword id="6362287" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="loans" source="Orion">loans</keyword> segment, which accounts for 40.1% of the overall consumption loan portfolio by value. The home loans portfolio saw growth slowing down to 7.9 % YoY in FY24, from the 23 % expansion seen in FY23. This was mainly due to muted growth in "originations", which increased by 9.2 % in FY'24 compared to 18.2 % in the previous fiscal year. Origination refers to the process by which a lender creates or initiates a new loan or credit, including evaluating, processing, and approving a borrower's application. The report finds a shift toward higher <keyword id="6871589" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ticket-size" source="Orion">ticket size</keyword>s, with a growing preference for loans above Rs 35 lakh, although the average ticket size (ATS) rose by 32% from Rs 20.1 lakh in FY20 to Rs 26.5 lakh in FY24. In contrast, the personal loans segment maintained strong momentum, growing by 26% YoY in FY24, despite recent regulatory reforms. Larger ticket loans of Rs 10 lakh and above increased their share in originations by value, while loans under Rs 1 lakh continued to dominate in volume. Banks led in value-based originations, whereas non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) remained dominant in volume. Two-wheeler loans experienced a 34% YoY growth in FY24, up from 30% in FY23, fueled by a shift to higher ticket-size loans. However, the overall volume of originations grew at a slower pace of 13% in FY24 compared to 32% in FY23. <keyword id="35527" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="auto-loans" source="Orion">Auto loans</keyword>, on the other hand, grew by 20% YoY in FY24, compared to 22% in FY23. Consumer durable loans posted a robust growth of 34% YoY in FY24, up from 26% expansion in the previous fiscal. This growth was driven by a shift to larger ticket sizes, although origination volumes grew by only 8.5% in FY24, compared to 38.2% in FY23. The MSME lending segment displayed mixed results, with individual MSME loans growing faster than entity MSMEs. The individual MSME portfolio increased by 29% YoY in FY24, accelerating from 15% in FY23, while entity MSME loans grew by just 6.6 % YoY, a sharp slowdown from 17.2 % in the previous year. Microfinance lending also saw strong growth, with the portfolio rising by 27% YoY in FY24, compared to 21% in FY23. "The resilience of the Indian credit market is evident in the strong performance across various lending categories and the stability in delinquencies. Home loans remain dominant, but the growth in personal loans, two-wheeler loans, and the rebound of NBFCs highlight significant shifts in the lending landscape," CRIF High Mark MD Sanjeet Dawar said.

State-owned <keyword id="20039085" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coal-India-Ltd" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Coal India Ltd" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Coal India Ltd">Coal India Ltd</keyword>'s contribution to the <keyword id="21546749" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="government-exchequer" source="keywords">government exchequer</keyword> increased by 6.4 per cent to Rs 60,140.31 crore in <keyword id="19910780" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FY24" source="keywords">FY24</keyword>, over the financial year 2022-23. <keyword id="19903245" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coal-India" source="keywords">Coal India</keyword> Ltd (CIL), which accounts for over 80 per cent of domestic coal output, paid Rs 56,524.11 crore to the government exchequer in FY23, according to provisional figures of the coal ministry. Total levies paid to the government in March 2024 also went up by 14.8 per cent to Rs 6,069.18 crore from Rs 5,282.59 crore paid in the corresponding month of FY23. Of the total Rs 60,140.42 crore paid to the government exchequer in FY24, maximum amount of Rs 13,268.55 crore was made to the state government of Jharkhand, followed by Rs 12,836.20 crore to the Odisha government, Rs 11,890.79 crore to Chhattisgarh, Rs 10,865.96 crore to Madhya Pradesh, and Rs 6,188.89 crore to Maharashtra among others. The coal-producing states earned the <keyword id="19945274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue" source="keywords">revenue</keyword> from royalty, District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) among others. The government had earlier said that the coal-producing states earned a revenue of Rs 1.52 lakh crore in the last nine years from royalty, DMF and NMET. Coal mining sector has proved to be a big booster for the economic growth of the states that produce fossil fuel. State governments are entitled to receive 14 per cent of royalty on the sale price of coal and 30 per cent of the royalty as contribution towards the proposed district mineral foundations (DMFs)-- which is meant to support project-affected people---and two per cent of NMET from dry-fuel produced by the coal companies and also the private sector. In case of captive, commercial mines states are also entitled to receive the revenue share offered by the auction holder in a transparent bidding process. Apart from this, state governments also benefit from increased employment, land compensation, increased investment in allied infrastructure like railways, road and several other economic benefits. Coal India's production and off-take are pegged at 838 MT for FY'25.
